Born From Pain (Metal Blade Records) was recently rejoined by original member Rob Franssen, who replaces departed vocalist, Kevin Otto. The group explains:
"After a long period of not knowing what was going to happen with Kevin's throat situation, Kevin was forced to stop shouting for Born From Pain by doctor's advice. The amount of shows on the schedule would have left Kevin's vocal chords scarred and marked for life and obviously he was not willing to take that risk. We had already seen it coming for a while as his situation has not been improving since Kevin's last show in December 2007. As Born From Pain had already looked to everybody who they thought were suitable for the job after original singer Che left, the only logical outcome left was to put original member Rob Franssen and former singer for bands like Feeding The Fire, Bloodsport, Wheel Of Progress and Backdraft on the mic."
Franssen comments: "After Kevin had decided to leave the band many people who are involved with the band urged me to pick up the mic, and since everybody was well-convinced I should be the one taking over due to my past experiences as a singer/frontman and being the main, longest lasting face of the band, I just did. We actually never really considered this option but it seemed right to us too and I got increasingly motivated by the trust put in me by many and started practising on the mic with the band. I feel great doing this as I have always written all the lyrics and vocal lines for the songs and I can now shout them myself. The fact that many people seem to feel I am doing a good job is really stimulating of course. Besides that, I feel like this is where I am supposed to be, it feels great again."

Crown The Lost is now mixing thier upcoming album, "Blind Faith Loyalty." Here's an update from the band:
"Updates in CTL-ville have been sparse, primarily because we've been putting the finishing touches on the album along with getting that Kid Rock doppleganger Grimes introduced into the fold. We are now down to the final three songs for mixing and should have the album sent off to mastering in two weeks, after which we'll finally be able to get a move on with things and get this album into the hands of more capable people than ourselves.
"We're also looking to add to our live schedule, but plan on going with a "quality over quantity" route, although that could change with the persuasion of alcohol and a free beard trimmer for Renaldi, who is now starting to resemble a sloshed Grizzly Adams. Still, we will be trying to hit up more areas than Pittsburgh in the coming months, so if anyone has any connections or the gall to invite us to their city/town/state, hit us up...."

Sevendust members Morgan Rose and Lajon Witherspoon have been interviewed for next months issue of Revolver magazine. In it, Rose explains why the band were unable to perform at the tour.
"We would've loved to be on that tour, but plain and simple, we couldn't afford to do it. I'm not going to say how much money we were offered, but at the end of the day the numbers didn't make any sense. It was like, 'If we borrow MACHINE HEAD's gear for every show, ride in a car with no crew guys, and don't bring any suitcases because they won't fit in the car anyway, we may be able to pay our bills at the end of this. But probably not.' So that was the bottom line. We would've lost our houses. And I'm not letting my kid and my wife live on the street just so I can go do some shows."
"I don't want to sit here and say, 'If they had given us more money, we would've been able to do it,' but that's the damn ticket right there!" said Witherspoon. "If they had given us more money, we would have been able to do it."

Evergreen Terrace guitarist Josh James has published an account of the group's near van disaster while traveling in Canada earlier this month:
"The Quebec City show was rad, as always. That is one of my favorite cities to play in Canada. After the show we went out to eat and left the restaurant around 2:30am. It was Caleb’s (merch guy and my little brother) 21st birthday. At about 5:30am Caleb was driving and feel asleep at the wheel. We crashed into a wall on the side of a bridge going about 75 mph. The trailer was fishtailing all over the highway and could not keep control of the van. We are lucky we didn’t flip. I honestly don’t know how or why we didn’t flip. We are lucky to be alive right now. It is pretty scary when I think back about it. Caleb said that Drew turned into an angel and just started rubbing Caleb’s back telling him that it will be ok, haha. There was minor damage to the van and trailer including 3 flat tires, and 2 trashed rims. Caleb knows how to party. Misery Signals was about 50 miles behind us so they were bringing us their spare tire while we changed out the other 2. In the process of changing the tires some cops rolled up and told us that it was against the law to change our tires on the side of the highway. They commanded us to get in the vehicle and wait for a tow truck. Total bullshit. We would have had all 3 of the tires changed in less than 30 minutes but the cops were complete assholes about it. After the tow truck arrived we were given 2 options; option 1: pay the tow truck driver $250 to drive us 1 mile up the highway and drop the van on the side of the road at the next exit or option 2: have the van and trailer impounded. We can never go to Canada without have some sort of problem with the authorities. After arguing with the cops and tow truck driver we were forced to go with option 1. Misery Signals were waiting at the next exit, their tour manager/sound guy, Adam, helped us with the tires and we were on our way in less than 15 minutes. By this time we were stoked that we were alive and able to continue the tour so naturally we blasted Bro Hymn by Pennywise and circle pitted around the van. That circle pit sums up our visit to Canada."

OPETH frontman Mikael Åkerfeldt has posted this message on his MySpace page:
"Ahhh...nice weather! We have a day off and we're in...I don't even know! Sad!
I have a little cold (again)...and it sucks, but I'll be better soon. Last night in Toronto and the night before in Montreal was MAD! I love Canucks! Love all of you of course but...wow...just WOW!
I did a little guest spot with Dream theater on the second NYC show. Song a verse and a chorus for the song 'Repentence' which is an awesome song. Thing is when I got on stage my mic was switched off and the crowd could enjoy me singing without hearing a word. The Port and the rest of the DREAM THEATER guys played it over again so I could sing it with sound as well. I was literally dying up there! How embarrassing...yet, it was great fun and at least I got to sing it in the end. Great cheers for me too which I appreciate of course. More...
