Fresh off two sold-out farewell performances at The Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey, E.TOWN CONCRETE will be returning to the venue one last time this summer as part of the Sounds Of The Underground Tour 2006. "It was really our fans who made the decision," explains vocalist Anthony Martini. "The rumor was posted on a message board somewhere and the next thing you know, the Sounds Of The Underground organizers were contacting me. We weren't even going to do it, but I'd gotten literally hundreds of emails begging us to play one more time. It was truly overwhelming."

Recorded at Antfarm Studios with Tue Madsen (THE HAUNTED, SICK OF IT ALL, HIMSA, HATESPHERE), "The Inhuman Aberration" features "10 polished and precise anthemic tracks incorporating thrash tempos and grim riffing likened to SOILWORK, DARKANE and THE HAUNTED," according to a press release. "URKRAFT's subtle use of keyboards sets them apart from the crowd, adding new textures and atmospheres to their taut sound."
"The Inhuman Aberration" track listing is as follows::

SINNER have inked a new record deal with MTM Music. The band's current lineup — which includes PRIMAL FEAR bassist Mat Sinner, his FEAR bandmate Tom Naumann (guitars), Frank Rössler (keyboards), METALIUM's Matte Lange (guitars) and former PRIMAL FEAR drummer Klaus Sperling — will enter a studio near Stuttgart in September with producer Achim Köhler to record a new album, entitled "Mask Of Sanity", for a January 19, 2007 release.
Commented MTM president Mario Lehmann: "I'm really pround and especially happy about this signing and that a metal legend like Mat Sinner decided to release his next SINNER album on MTM Music. With 'Mask Of Sanity', we will not only please the traditional friends of hardrock, but also a lot of metal fans!"
Regarding the prospect of working with Klaus Sperling again, Sinner said in a statement, "It's really fantastic to have Klaus back on board and with MTM Music, we found a great trustfully partner for the band's future! I can promise that 'Mask Of Sanity' will be a 100% SINNER album, with a lot of harmony guitars and all trademarks of the SINNER history!"
Klaus Sperling is no stranger to the SINNER songs, as he helped out the band on their Japan tour 1999, their European tour with DIO in 2000 and some open-air performances in Europe. Sperling also played drums on the SINNER version of ACCEPT's classic "Balls to the Wall".
Added Sinner: "We've finished the pre-production for the first bunch of tracks and we're excited. Here are some of the songtitles: 'The Sign', 'Revenge', 'Last Men Standing', 'Thunderroar', 'Mask Of Sanity' and 'Black'."
The new SINNER lineup will make its live debut on October 7, 2006 at the H2O in Reichenbach, Germany. Also appearing on the bill will be PRIMAL FEAR, PUMP and TARGA.
Video of Down Cover Led Zeppelin's "Dazed And Confused"
A video clip of DOWN covering LED ZEPPELIN's "Dazed and Confused" during their headlining appearance in Birmingham, England on Tuesday, May 23 has been posted online at blog.myspace.com/jasonvomit.
DOWN guitarist Pepper Keenan (CORROSION OF CONFORMITY) revealed during the band's appearance at the Rock City in Nottingham, U.K. on Wednesday (May 24) that they have been confirmed for this year's Download festival, set to take place June 9-11 at Donington Park, Leicestershire, England.
DOWN is the the acclaimed New Orleans band featuring Keenan, drummer Jimmy Bower (EYEHATEGOD, SUPERJOINT RITUAL guitarist), bassist Rex Brown (ex-PANTERA), guitarist Kirk Windstein (CROWBAR), and vocalist Philip Anselmo (SUPERJOINT RITUAL, ex-PANTERA). The group kicked off their first-ever European tour on May 19 and are expected to remain on the road until mid-June.
DOWN have announced that they will be filming shows on their spring/summer European tour for an upcoming DVD. The band will also begin work on new material shortly after returning home from the trek and are tentatively planning on entering the studio in September to begin recording their third album.
Deicide's latest album "The Stench Of Redemption" will not be ready for the unholy date of 6.6.06, so the band have decided to release a 2-track downloadable EP on that date to preview the material. The two brand new studio tracks will be available exclusively online via the iTunes Music Store on Tuesday 6 June 2006. The Stench Of Redemption (666) EP is priced at $1.99. The tracks included are:
1) Homage For Satan (666 mix)
2) Crucified For The Innocence (666 mix)
These digital download-only songs were forged by the band with co-producer Jim Morris, in Morrisound Studios, Tampa, FL, and mark the devastating Deicide debuts of new axemen Jack Owen (formerly of Cannibal Corpse) and Ralph Santolla (ex-Death/Iced Earth). The EP also offers a glimpse of the disturbing album imagery which will accompany the retail release.
The new full-length album "The Stench Of Redemption" is due for release on CD through Earache Records instores across the world on August 21/22.
A video clip of ROB ZOMBIE's live performance of the track "American Witch" on CBS' "Late Night Show with David Letterman" — which was taped Wednesday afternoon (May 24) for broadcast later that night — has been posted online at YouTube.com. The appearance marked ZOMBIE's live debut with new bassist Matt Montgomery (a.k.a. Piggy D.; ex-AMEN/WEDNESDAY 13), who joined the group as the replacement for the recently departed Rob "Blasko" Nicholson (also ex-CRYPTIC SLAUGHTER). Rob Nicholson left Zombie earlier in the month in order to join OZZY OSBOURNE's recording/touring band.
Zombie will be teaming up with ANTHRAX for the "American Witch Across America" tour beginning on June 30 in El Paso, Texas. Rob is also expected to be joining GODSMACK on tour as a co-headliner this fall.
"Educated Horses", Zombie's third solo album, has sold 270,000 copies in the U.S. since being released on March 28.
"The Haunted World of Superbeasto", an animated film based on Zombie's El Superbeasto comic book character, will be out later this year. The rocker-turned-filmmaker is also working on the script for his third live-action feature.
In light of guitarist Nicolas Chevrollier's announcement to leave The Old Dead Tree, the band is now seeking a replacement. Here's the announcement:
"Because of Nicolas Chevrollier's decision to leave the band, THE OLD DEAD TREE is now looking for a new guitar player. If you are interested, please write to firstname.lastname@example.org with details about yourself, like your musical influences, bands you are/were involved in, live and studio experiences, etc, and of course the reason why you would like to join the band. All information about the auditions will be given in due time once THE OLD DEAD TREE has received your e-mail and details. Thanks and good luck!"
Nicolas will play on gigs scheduled until late June. A session guitarist will then replace him until his successor has been found. The band are scheduled to play the following festival so far this summer:
02-05 Jun 06 Leipzig (DE) Wave Gotik Treffen
On Saturday May 6th, my friend, and I drove down to Virginia from northern New Jersey to see Nevermore, one of our favorite bands, headline at their one off show at the Jaxx with Evergrey the next day. We got to the show early to meet up with some friends, one of which is Will Bozarth from Distorted Mind, who assisted me during the interview process for my interview with guitarist Jeff Loomis (guitarist of Nevermore), since he knows the band from hanging out with them at previous shows. Will’s input added a new dimension to some of the questions and gave the interview a humorous edge. Sadly, I had lost the entire interview because of a technical accident with the recording equipment. Fortunately, I still have the questions and can hopefully recreate the experience on a later date. Interview troubles aside, in hindsight, this was one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. More...
Contrary to what had been scheduled before, ANCIENT RITES will not play on Friday, June 23rd, on the Metaldome stage of the Graspop Metal Meeting festival, but on Saturday, June 24th, on the Marquee 1 stage.
The reason is that Gunther Theys and his troops were granted the slot initially alotted to death metallers DEICIDE, who recently cancelled their European tour. According to the GMM organisation, ANCIENT RITES is the perfect substitute to fill this slot. While the band will not headline, they all feel it's worthwhile to make the exchange, since the Marquee 1 stage is the second biggest of the GMM.
In related news, ANCIENT RITES mainman Gunther Theys recently spoke to the Terrorverlag.de webzine about the controversy surrounding the band's recent appearance at the Ultima Ratio Festival in Krefeld, Germany.
Commented Theys: "Things really need to be cleared up around this. Our management had been at the festival long before we arrived. Suddenly Flemish fans came to tell us rumours had been spread that we refused to play because the time schedule was not respected, that people were angry on us. We were informed that on stage was announced that ANCIENT RITES would not play and that the audience were offered a choice between us and the other bands. Later on we ran into one of the promoters who said he had been having trouble with us but that he always had been a fan and would regret if we didn't play. We knew nothing of the whole situation. All got cleared up when we heard that our management and the organization had been in a fight over the delayed schedule and that without consulting us the management had threatened ANCIENT RITES would not be playing at all. We did not like this situation at all and after the show our management resigned. We understood the management tried to get us on stage on time, they panicked as they saw how late it was but this was a wrong judgment, a wrong move and not at all in harmony with the ANCIENT RITES attitude or spirit. As a result we played too late anyway but on top many people were angry on us because they believed we were boycotting the fest and the other bands. When the P.A. people dismantled the stage many people believed we had ordered this so other bands could not play their show, others thought that we packing to leave. The P.A. people also were dealing with time pressure. By the time the stage was finally ready for our show many thought we had left for home and others were too angry to watch us. We started a quarter to two in the morning. There was a die-hard crowd of ANCIENT RITES fans still present who never doubted us. So it still turned out great. However, the next day I read angry posts on German forums of people accusing us of rock-star attitudes etc... A pity these misunderstandings had to happen and backfired at us while we honestly had no idea about what was going on. Our management resigned but we were left with the trouble. Ironic, isn't it? I would like the other bands and all people attending the fest to know that cancellation never has been our way or a weapon we would use to put pressure on anyone. Only rock stars and spoiled brats would behave in such a manner and that would be an insult to the underground character of our band. Of course it was a pity we hit the stage far too late but we are used to difficult situations and play with heart and soul no matter how many people are present or regardless what time it is. I hope this is settled."

A beef between Avenged Sevenfoldand the Dillinger Escape Plan is taking shape. According to Dillinger's MySpace page, a feud had been festering for several months when Avenged frontman M. Shadows turned up the heat during a recent interview, saying Dillinger "make sh---y noises and try to pass it off as music." "What about bands that make sh---y noise and try to pass it off as Guns N' Roses?" a Dillinger MySpace post read in response. "This guy and his merry band of musical clowns get more hilarious by the minute. M. Shadows' real name is Matt Sanders or some sh--." With that in mind, Dillinger say they've decided to change their stage names in derision. "So, in his honor, our new names are officially as follows: G. Piranha, Blaster Master Weinman, Bullwhip Benoit, Corpsef---er Pennie [and] Leafeater Wilson. Those are going to be the names on our new CD — 100 percent serious."
KORN have parted ways with touring guitarist Rob Patterson, according to Korn Unleashed. A replacement axeman has already been drafted in and is currently performing with the band on their European tour.
Rob, who was previously the guitarist for OTEP, joined KORN as the backup guitarist in July 2005, filling the slot left vacant by the departure of Brian "Head" Welch, who left the group earlier in the year.
When Rob first joined, the band chose to keep him "hidden" and have him play behind the amplifiers offstage. Since then, Rob has worked his way up in the ranks of the band with him most recently playing onstage in the North American leg of the "See You on the Other Side" world tour earlier this year.
Rob has yet to comment on his depature from KORN, but the header on his MySpace profile currently reads "Farewell, my brothers."
KORN's upcoming DVD, "Live On The Other Side", will receive a big screen premiere on June 19 at more than 100 theatres in 70 markets nationwide. Along with interviews, behind-the-scenes footage, and music videos, the disc will feature excerpts from a private show the band played for contest winners and U.S. soldiers on a plane headed to New York from Europe.
The DVD will be in stores on June 20.
KORN will headline the Family Values tour this summer, which begins on July 27 in Virginia Beach. The main stage lineup also features DEFTONES, STONE SOUR, FLYLEAF and DIR EN GREY.
Orange County metal quintet EYES OF FIRE have parted ways with keyboardist Pete Truax. "He was released of all his duties within the band and will no longer be representing the band in any way, shape, or form," the group write on their web site. "Unfortunately, Pete's disrespect for fellow bandmates as well as other bands on the ['One Nation Undivided' tour with ILL NINO, GOD FORBID, SILENT CIVILIAN and BLEED THE SKY] was the cause of his release. EYES OF FIRE wish Pete great luck in the future and hopes he finds a band or a career which will fulfill all his needs and wishes.
"Now, that being said EYES OF FIRE will be finishing the tour without keyboards. The show last night in San Diego was great and the band did not miss a step.
"EYES OF FIRE will be looking for a new keyboard player/noise generator to fill in this gap once the tour is over. The band requests all interested parties to send their demos as well as a short resume which should include past band experience and influences to:
Eyes of Fire Keyboard Search
1118 E Walnut St Unit A
Santa Ana, CA 92701
"Applicants must be willing to relocate if they are not from the Southern California area."
EYES OF FIRE's "One Nation Undivided" tour, which runs through early June, is the group's first major national run in support of their latest CD, "Prisons", which was recorded at Grandmaster Recorders (TOOL, NINE INCH NAILS) with renowned producer Matt Bayles (MASTODON, ISIS).
Connecticut's Palehorse has officially been added the Bridge Nine Records roster. The group has previously released material with Martyr Records. Palehorse will begin recording their debut full-length in July, with a release fall release expected. You can check out some of their material here.
