Sight Of Emptiness Announces New Album Details

Costa Rica-based melodic extreme metal band Sight of Emptiness has tapped Jens Bogren of Örebro, Sweden's Fascination Street Studios to master the band's upcoming second album, "Absolution of Humanity." The band issued the following announcement about the album:

"Having Jens Bogren working on our new album is unreal. He is responsible for numerous masterpieces: Opeth's 'Watershed', Amon Amarth's 'Twilight of the Thunder God' and Katatonia's 'The Great Cold Distance'. Having him on board makes us a lot more excited about our new creation; you can't go wrong with a guy like this. We gave him the green light and he is doing an awesome job; we love this guy already. He is a perfectionist and an honest and humble lad.

"Combining aggressive riffs reminiscent of At The Gates, with melodies similar to In Flames, and the tight structures of The Black Dahlia Murder, with a fresh Costa Rican twist of flavor you won't find anywhere else. The new album from Sight Of Emptiness will appeal to fans of all forms of extreme and melodic metal."

The "Absolution of Humanity" track listing will be as follows:

1. Predictable Tragedy
2. Infected
3. Faceless Dream
4. Witness of your Murder
5. Funeral March
6. The Art of Suffering
7. Judge me today...Die Tomorrow
8. Absolution of Humanity
9. Burning Silence

Pestilence Denied Entry Into The United States

Pestilence will not headline today, May 24th, at the Maryland DeathFest due to their detainment at the US border. Band leader Patrick Mameli and guitarist Patrick Uterwyck were kept in custody for several hours and sent back to the Netherlands late yesterday.

Upon entering the US and stopping at customs they discovered their paper work, which was sent to them, for their travels was not properly completed for the required working visas. Originally they were told all was in order and to proceed on the trip to the US. They spent a total of 44 hours in flights and detainment.

“We are extremely sad and disappointed not being able to perform on the MDF. Not having received the proper information on our visa application, we were under the impression that what we received from the securing visas and working permits office was the actual working permits,” explains band leader Patrick Mameli. “We were kept under custody by the border security police for 4 hours trying to do everything in our power to let us pass, but all our efforts failed. They sent us home on the next plane. Hopefully we will be given another chance to perform for you, our fans!”

Sabbat Confirmed For Download Festival 2009

British thrash metal veterans Sabbat has confirmed that they will be performing at this year's Download Festival. A message from guitarist Andy Sneap reads as follows:

"We are pleased to announce that after months of being really annoying and badgering the fuck out of Andy Copping, the man responsible for Download, he finally broke down and added Sabbat to the bill on Sunday (June 14th). We have to be the most local band ever to play at Castle Donington (I'll refer to it as Donington from now on and pretend its still one stage in 1984) having been in attendance most years and even walking to the festival a couple of times. I must say I have been somewhat disappointed in the lack of pigs heads, bottles of piss and turds thrown in carriers bags during the latter years, kids today just don't know how to enjoy a good festival! I personally am looking forward to getting one half of my face sunburnt Richard Dreyfus style and feeling like George Best's left kidney on the 15th. Should be fun!"

One Man Army & Undead Quartet Issues Band Update

One Man Army and the Undead Quartet has issued the following band update:

"Hello metal friends!

"Hope you..re doing good out there.

"Just a little update for you all.

"We will start with a couple of auditions today. We have 3 guys on our current list that seems interesting for us. Stay tuned for more info on how that progress goes.

"And need I tell you that we will not release a new album this year?;-) We have worked really hard since we started 2004 but 2009 will be the first year to put our feet on the breaks. We will take it really easy with stuff. Do a couple of on off shows, get a new member and then focus on the fourth album 2010.We are definitely not in a hurry, but when we do come back with new material it will be something special. That..s a promise.

"And a message to all Swedish metal heads out there: Känner ni att ni är den rätte för One man army? Känner ni nån som är grym? Tveka då inte att kontakta oss på info@onemanarmy.tv å markera mailet "Ny gitarrist".

"Cheers!

Venom Reveals New Drummer, Start On New Album

British extreme metal legends Venom has announced a replacement for former drummer Antton with a man known simply as "Dante."

"We had a fantastic response", explained Cronos, "there were many great players to choose from, but at the end of the day I wasn't looking for someone who could just play the songs, I wanted somebody who was really hungry to be in the band for all the right reasons, and Danté also has all the right qualifications".

Venom and their management would like to thank all of the drummers who came to the auditions, plus all of the others who sent their CVs and CDs etc. The band are now in rehearsals with Danté and will be recording new demos for the next album over the coming weeks, as well as planning future shows. News of upcoming concerts coming soon.
