Morphia Calls It A Day
Gothic doom metal band Morphia has officially split up. The band issued the following statement on their website:
"Two years ago, we were standing at the crossroads. Over the years, we moved further apart and got involved in busy jobs and family lives, which made it very difficult for us to rehearse, work on new material and perform live on a regular basis. Then two members left the band and we had to ask ourselves whether or not we wanted to disband completely. With a new line up and renewed energy, we decided to give it another shot. But before too long, the jobs and families regained their position on top of our list of priorities. Now, we have found ourselves in the same situation as we were a few years ago. This time, however, we decided that it would be better to disband."
Morphia's final show will be at Brainstorm Festival in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands. The show will be recorded and released on DVD at an undetermined date.
Borknagar Parts Ways With Drummer
Norwegian black metal band Borknagar have parted ways with their drummer Asgeir Mickelson, who has been with the band since 1999.
Borknagar's guitarist Øystein Brun issued the following statement:
"Due to the latest years evolving differences in musical ideas and visions, Asgeir Mickelson has decided to quit Borknagar. The spilt happens in friendly manner and with mutual respect for the decision that he has made. He will remain a good friend of the band. We wish to thank him for a great collaboration over the years and the best of luck with future endeavours! The split will have little or no effect on the schedule of the forthcoming album. We are currently working on pre- productions and we are heading for an early- next- year release. As stated before, the new album will regain the musical forces that dominated the 4 first albums. So beware!"
Asgeir Mickelson has played bass and guitar for a variety of metal bands, most recently providing the drumming on the upcoming Ihsahn album "angL".

FEARnet Premieres Coheed And Cambria Video
FEARnet, the world's premier destination for horror film enthusiasts, is set to become the exclusive host of the director's cut of the infamous Coheed and Cambria video for their current single, "Feathers." The Hitchcockian black and white video, is a dark comedy, directed by Marc Klasfeld (Gnarls Barkley, Foo Fighters, Bloodhound Gang) and focuses on a "perfect" 1950s American family who have a very naughty secret. "Feathers" stars Rena Riffel, known for her roles in "Mulholland Drive" and "Dante's Cove," as the cheerful stay-at-home mom ala "Ozzie and Harriet," but this mom has more than a conniving grin. Reminiscent of the works of David Lynch and John Waters, what appears normal on the surface is not quite so when you take a closer look. Klasfeld's cut contains mildly graphic scenes that were not in the MTV version of the video. More...

Vanmakt On The Hunt For A New Drummer
Black metallers Vanmakt have posted the following message:
"Since we have no drummer at the moment for live purpose, we are looking for one. So, if you live in Sweden, Denmark or Norway and feels that you want to join a hard working and serious band that wants to go all the way, don't hesitate to contact us, after reading these demands. If you dont fit this demands, please dont waste our time by contacting us. Thanks!
Demands:
20 Years or older (We are 21-28)
Blasting in 280Bpm is a minimum!
Own your own stuff.
Have some kind of recording that we can listen to.
We are looking for someone that wants to be either a live member in Vanmakt or a full-time member. Since we aren't rehearsing that much everyone in the band needs to learn the songs at home so that when we rehearse, everyone knows what to do and its just to put everything together. this means that it doesn't really matter where you live in these countries as long as you can and will come when it is time for either gig or studio rehearsing. This requires a person with discipline and access to either a practise kit at home or a rehearsal room for themselves.
Vanmakt isn't our daytime job, and we don't get a monthly pay-check. We are doing this because we believe in our music and not to get rich. If we wanted to get rich, we would play pop, but that's not what we are doing, so a new member also needs to have this in mind.
If you feel that you have what it takes, please send a mail to drummer@vanmakt.com.
Include some information about yourself and links to where we can listen or download tracks in which you play.
That's it! Don't hesitate to send your questions to us for more information!
PS: We will enter EPM Studio at June 5th to record our second album Ad Luciferi Regnum so it can take some time before we answer any mails, but we will respond as soon as we can!"
