Pure Steel Records artist Power Theory from Philadelphia, PA is very pleased to announce Jeff Rose (Livesay, Present Darkness) as new lead vocalist
Guitarist Bob Ballinger comments: "I have followed Jeff from the NY/Phila Metal scene for a few years now and we have mutual friends in the scene, Jeff contacted us via our publicist Susi 'Rocket Queen' Mueller.
"We had a few really talented vocalists contact us about the open position over the last few weeks but Jeff stood out the most with his detailed breakdown of the material we asked him to learn and constant communication, and he basically nailed our live set in 6 days. Jeff brings a new dimension to the band with his power and range."
Now with Jeff Rose on vocals and Nygil Hoch on lead guitar, Power Theory will play a warm-up show at Mojo 13 in Claymont, Delaware with Pure Steel label mates Widow on June 22nd.
The band will return home to the studio to complete the album "Driven by Fear" with executive producer Peter Baltes (Accept), engineer Matt DiFabio (Single Bullet Theory), and with mixing handled by Carlos Alveraz (ShadowDance).
In less than a week, Iron Tongue will proudly present debut full-length "The Dogs Have Barked, The Birds Have Flown" to the public via Neurot Recordings.
In preparation of its release, a brand new hymn from the album is available, as Invisible Oranges unfurls the LP’s gritty fourth track “Moon Unit.” Check it out here or in the player below. The following press release was also issued about the new album:
"Set to hit North American store shelves this Tuesday, May 28th, The Dogs Have Barked, The Birds Have Flown harnesses over forty-five minutes of seven-piece Arkansas-based outfit Iron Tongue’s soulful, bluesy, and undeniably honest modern take on classic American rock, each track a legit tale of sorrow, regret and painful days past, as well as a harbinger of more rough days to come. The stories were chronicled by Billy Anderson (Melvins, Sleep, Neurosis, etc) at Wolfman Studios, owned by guitarist Jason Tedford, the band completed by guitarist Mark Chiaro, bassist Andy Warr, drummer Stan James, keyboardist JR Top, vocalist Stephanie Smittle, and fronted by Rwake vocalist Chris 'CT' Terry."
Comments James of the new track, “This tune has all facets of Iron Tongue on display and showcases some of our influences. We are stoked to give you ‘Moon Unit’ to chew on until the record is out next week!"

Carpathian Forest has been forced to cancel the band's appearance at the 2013 Maryland Death Fest due to problems obtaining a visa. The band's publicist comments:
"Carpathian Forest front man Nattefrost is one more in the long line of Scandinavian black metal musicians who have been unable to gain entry into the United States due to the labyrinthine and draconian immigration laws that have so often denied U.S. fans the opportunity to see their favorite European bands.
"Despite this setback, Carpathian Forest, whose remaining four members had been granted visas, was still aiming to appear at the Maryland Deathfest in Baltimore on the 26th May as scheduled, but as a four-piece, with guitarist BloodPervertor taking on vocals. Unfortunately, for reasons unknown, the embassy was not able to return drummer Kobro’s passport in time for the band to leave, and Carpathian Forest has therefore been forced to pull out of the festival completely. However, three members – guitarists Tchort and BloodPervertor and bassist Vrangsinn will attend and will be available to talk to fans.
"It is only under very exceptional circumstances that Carpathian Forest plays without Nattefrost, the only other occasion having been when BloodPervertor stepped in to cover vocals on a handful of dates during the No Mercy Tour in 2004 when Nattefrost broke his collar bone." More...
In anticipation of its impending release next week, today New Noise Magazine offers up a stream of “Restoring Life” from instrumental post-blackened solo project Cerna. Check it out here or via the player below.
The tune comes by way of Cerna's debut of the same name. Founded in Kalamazoo, Michigan in 2011 by Cody McCoy of ambient prog exhibitionists The Omega Experiment, Cerna is a cerebral, multi-dimensional sound expedition self-described as “a musical expression of the many elements missing in modern music today.”
"Restoring Life" was recorded in Tecumseh, Michigan with engineer Ashton Parsons and centers itself around the perpetual hardships of existence through its consuming layers of sonic darkness. At once melancholic yet nostalgic, the record delivers voiceless hymns of self-reflection, the changing seasons, and the harsh realism of love and loss.
“I recorded this album in about 10 days. I was incredibly rushed and forced to perform twelve-hour sessions on the regular,” McCoy elaborates. “It was incredibly stressful at first but as the album came together I lost track of all time and was overwhelmed with excitement. It was such a surreal feeling, hearing my music played back to me… Though I did find myself over contemplating things as well as re-writing entire sections. This would typically happen at about 5:00 am. I’m guessing it was because I was delusional, starving and exhausted. These sort of things happen when you’re sitting in a studio that long, pumping every ounce of creativity you have into a four-bar section.” More...

U.K. death thrashers Arceye have released details for their upcoming sophomore album "At First Light." The album will be released worldwide on August 7th via Hostile Media. The band comments:
"This album we feel we have really trimmed the fat on our songwriting and made it the best it could be! If we didn't think that it kicked ass it didn't make the cut! We also stepped up the production value, recording the drums In Foel studios and working with Scott Atkins (Sylosis, Cradle Of Filth, Amon Amarth, Gamma Bomb) on the mix and master. The Meaning of 'At First Light' is a representation of where we felt we were as a band when we were writing the album. Since our last release we have gained two new members, both with a writing influence and we've developed more of a vision of the music we wanted to play."
"At First Light" is the follow up to Arceye's debut album "The Divide Between Chaos & Order." The album art can be seen below and was created by none other than Craig Mackay of the band himself. Arceye comments: More...
Game developer Reloaded Productions and industrial rock band Dope Stars Inc. have signed an agreement to bring three tracks from the band's latest album "UltraWired" to the APB Reloaded soundtrack.
The tracks "Lies Irae," "No Life Belongs To You," and "We Are The New Ones" will be added to APB Reloaded in the near future as part of a ongoing update to the game's diverse soundtrack.
"UltraWired," the band's latest album, contains numerous references to gaming, the internet, sci-fi, conspiracy theories, cyberpunk and virtual worlds. Fans can pay whatever they wish to download "UltraWired" directly from the band's website.
The following press release was also issued about APB Reloaded: "APB Reloaded is the ultimate online multiplayer cops and robbers game, with over 4 million players worldwide. The game pits the forces of law and order against a city full of criminal gangs. Gamers have to compete, complete missions and collaborate with others to ensure their side wins – by whatever means necessary."
Victor Love of Dope Stars Inc. says, “Making music is all about self-expression. APB Reloaded lets gamers all around the world express themselves and be whoever they want to be in a virtual online world where the forces of good and evil clash every single day. Gaming and cyberculture sit side by side as the new virtual reality for millions. They're all UltraWired. We're happy to be making the streets of San Paro sound better.”
Michael Boniface, the Managing Director of Reloaded Productions, says, “We couldn't be happier to have Dope Stars Inc. contributing tracks to APB Reloaded. We're constantly updating the game to bring new content and new challenges to players, seeking to make the game better, more exciting and more fun. The soundtrack is a big part of the experience. We've got big plans for music within the game and having Dope Stars Inc. tracks in there is a phenomenal first step.”
Vista Chino, the band formed by John Garcia and Brant Bjork (formerly of Kyuss), has inked a deal with Napalm Records. The album is set for an early fall release. More details, including album title, artwork, and track listing will be revealed in the coming weeks.
Vocalist John Garcia said the following: "Kyuss Lives is now Vista Chino!...it feels great just to write that....and to say it out loud, feels even better. Now that our relationship with Napalm Records is official; it's time to forget about the past year, move forward, and execute our original plan, which was to make kick ass music and tour the world!
Drummer Brant Bjork added: "We look forward to working with Napalm Records and we anticipate great support in rolling out the Vista Chino rock."

Sweden’s Cult of Luna today reveals a new remix from producer Justin Broadrick (Godflesh, Jesu). Broadrick tackles the 18+-minute track “Vicarious Redemption” from Cult of Luna’s recent studio album, "Vertikal." Check out the track below.
"It was both a pleasure and a challenge to work on such an sprawling epic song,” Broadrick commented. “(There was) so much material to choose from and to attempt to refocus in my own context, and a challenge to make something new and concise which resonates like the original."
"When I was 14 years old, my friend taught my how to play guitar,” adds Cult of Luna’s Johannes Persson. “We spent hours listening to songs and then trying to play them. One of the records he had was the Streetcleaner LP that since has been continuously in my rotation for almost 20 years, so listening to Justin’s remix of 'Vicarious Redemption' kind of felt like going full circle. Justin has created something new with the elements of the song which, in my opinion, is the only way to justify a remix."
Cult of Luna is in the midst of an extensive worldwide touring schedule with plans in the works to bring the band to the Unites States later in 2013. More...
Cryogen, the melodic death metal band from Denver, CO including Greg Burgess of Allegaeon (Metal Blade Records), has launched a new Kickstarter campaign to support the band's upcoming full length album.

On July 16th, Evan Brewer (The Faceless) will release his sophomore solo album, "Your Itinerary," which features the additions of piano, drums, and guitars. According to a press release, this new effort is "more digestible than its predecessor, but also provides more depth and breathing room for Brewer to get even more adventurous with his instrument. Evan Brewer is a true enigma and with Your Itinerary he further proves that he is one of the most forward-thinking, talented bassists around today."
Brewer states: “As many of you already know, my first album Alone was made entirely using the bass guitar and no other instruments. That recording has a very special place in my heart, but I knew going into that process that it was going to be a one-time thing. As an artist I feel it's important to grow and evolve, so I fully plan on every album I make being quite a bit different than the previous ones.
“I am really proud to reunite with Navene Koperweis on this disc as he is an incredible multi instrumentalist and producer. Many will know him as the original drummer of Animals as Leaders or even further back as a founding member, drummer, writer and bandmate of mine in the band Animosity. As for his contribution to this record, he did all the drums, electronic elements and helped me with production and mastering. His contribution to this whole process was immense. More...
