Billboard.com reports: The life and career of Motorhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister is being celebrated in a new documentary, tentatively titled "Lemmy" and slated for release in 2009.
The film promises fans more access than ever before to Kilmister's life, and includes interviews with past and present bandmates and such peers/admirers as Slash, Dave Grohl, the Clash's Mick Jones, Alice Cooper, Steve Vai and wrestling superstar Triple H.
Directors/producers Greg Olliver and Wes Orshoski (both of whom have contributed to Billboard) are shooting the film on a combination of HD video and super 16 mm film. Other giants from the world of metal and hard rock will appear in the film as well, with details to be announced. "We haven't heard the word 'no' yet after any interview request," Olliver says.
"Shooting Lemmy is like filming dangerous wildlife. He never does what you expect him to do, and he never does anything you want him to do," Olliver says with a laugh. "A lot of the coolest shots are shots we had to wait for four or five shows to go by before we could get them."

Swedish death metal masters ANATA have posted an update from the studio on the recording process of their upcoming new album.
ANATA drummer CONNY PETTERSSON gives the final update regarding the recording of the drums in his studio diary:
"This was the final recording day. We started by changing the snare head and Jens tuned all the drums into perfection as every other day. I had two tracks left to do. I started with Greed conquers all; the first track written for this album. It's a fast killer track and also one of my favourites. It has a small part sometime after its first guitar solo, where the drums and guitars go a little crazy. We did several takes for this part and both Fredrik and I thought it sounded as it should. Jens still wanted me to play more and more and Fredrik said: "I think Conny have done 5 or 6 perfect takes now in a row, I can't hear what is wrong." But Jens is not satisfied with everything only being in time; he also wants the drums to sound right in a way we couldn't understand. Fredrik went nervous and walked out of the control room. And I struggled some more and suddenly Jens was happy. We have always believed that we were the worst perfectionists possible, and people would tell us; "No one will hear the difference anyway." But now it was the other way around."
Canada's Buried Inside is currently finishing up the writing process for their next Relapse Records release. The band recently issued the following update:

The writing for the follow-up to Chronoclast is nearing completion and pre-production has been underway for the last couple of months. Arrangements are being ironed out for the upcoming recording, and barring any obstacles, a release date is expected for January 2009."

Unable to sing, vocalist Alex Varkatrzas will sit out Atreyu's upcoming appearances at the Indianapolis May Day Fest and El Paso's Balloon Fest this weekend. The band will still perform, however, with Marc McKnight (Bass) and Brandon Saller (Drums/Vocals) filling in on vocal duties.
Here is an explanation from Alex:
"ATREYU will perform both shows this weekend in Indianapolis and El Paso because the last thing we want to do is let our fans down. With apologies from me to the listeners of KLAQ and WRZX, I won't be able to be there. My voice is blown and my throat is swollen and I have sinusitis and a u.r. infection. I am so sorry. I feel like I owe more of an explanation, so here goes.
"We have been on tour at this point about 3 months. The last few weeks have been overseas in Australia, where we have been flying and playing shows everyday. I don't drink and take good care of myself but the weather/climate changing daily and constant strain on my voice has taken its toll. I saw a vocal doctor for the first time on the TOC tour because I was having a little swelling on and around my vocal chords. He examined me and saw no serious career threatening problems. However, I did have a part of my vocal chord that looked a little abnormal and inflamed and could eventually swell up more and give me problems. On top of EXTREME nasal congestion (I cant breathe thru my nose). If that swelling happens I was told to rest, in the mean time I got three cortisone shots and went back to rocking for several more weeks straight. I pushed and pushed myself every night and then we left for Australia. More...

The following update has been posted at POISON drummer Rikki Rockett's MySpace page:
"Poison drummer Rikki Rockett was exonerated of a felony rape charge filed in Mississippi stemming from a September 23, 2007 incident in which a Neshoba County, Mississippi woman claimed that Rockett had forcibly raped her. Rockett was not in Mississippi during September 2007. The Neshoba County District Attorney refused to prosecute the case after determining that Rockett was not the person who committed the alleged rape. The charges carry a potential life sentence. Rockett said, "I want to sincerely thank my lawyers Barry Tarlow and Mi Kim for their commitment to my case and their terrific legal work that exonerated me of any wrongdoing."
The warrant, issued on December 18, 2007, sought the arrest and extradition of "Rockett, Rikki A" a/k/a "Minskosf, John" to Mississippi for "strong arm rape." News stories shortly disclosed the correct spelling of the name John Minskosf as "John Minskoff." Rockett has never used the Minskoff name. It is now believed that Minskoff used Rockett's name to convince the complaining witness to sleep with him. More...
All That Remains have revealed that "Overcome" will be the name given to their latest offering and is scheduled to be released late summer.
Frontman Phil Labonte has commented: "I'm really excited about this disc. It's a pretty different sound than our last one. It's shaping up to have a more biting tone. It's got tons of double bass, like twenty guitar solos and more hooks. It's a much darker record than 'The Fall of Ideals' and it's gonna reshape what people think when they think of ALL THAT REMAINS."
Famed Aerosmith guitarist has commented on lead singer Steve Tyler's entry to a rehab centre. Here's what he had to say: "I actually haven't talked to Steven in a while. We spend most of our time off the road split up — that's just how it goes."
When asked if he knew why Tyler had gone to rehab he responded: "I'm not sure, but I hope he's doing OK."
Perry himself is still recovering from knee surgery.

CHILDREN OF BODOM bassist Henkka T. Blacksmith has posted this message from Gigantour 2008:
"Yo yo yo,
"We are here in Arizona! It rains and it is like 60 degrees! Sweet.
"Tomorrow flying home, and of course it sounds sleazy, but it is kind a sad, such funny and good people on this tour. And the whole package has pulled many people each night, which is amazing.
"The other night in San Diego was bad for us though. During 'In Your Face' our light console went down. So we played in almost complete darkness. Haha, that was weird, and difficult of course. And the rest of the show we got lights, but just basic bright ones and nothing moving pretty much. It felt like playing in Youth Club's Christmas party. But luckily the crowd didn't seem to care. We were just laughing and had good times.
Last days some of us caught Bronchitis, again, so it's rough now! But as said, tonight is the last night!"

Otep have posted the new video to their latest single "Crooked Spoons" online. CHeck it out below.
Band leader Otep Shamaya has spoken about what the song means to her: “The video is an exposition of the American way in all of its beautiful contradictions: sex, violence, solidarity, betrayal, lust, power, religion. I was reading Nietzsche when I was writing the early lyrics for this song, and was captured by his ideas on the world being “the will to power” and how humanity has a natural appetite for destruction. I find this song to be seductive, erotic, dangerous, and provocative. It’s one of my favorites.” More...

Black Label Society lead singer/ guitarist Zakk Wylde has posted the following message regarding the recent death of Meldrum leader Michelle Meldrum:
"I cannot believe this. Michelle was like a sister to me and all of the Black Label camp. I remember the first show that Meldrum played with us. The whole band was so great, but Michelle was the guitarist, so we talked shop all the time. She was loving and you could always talk to her about any problems you have, so caring.
God has a guitar-ripping angel in his house now.
God bless you, Michelle. You will be missed and thought of every time I set foot onstage." More...
