We've been on a mission to get every band's favorite pit stories from live shows, and this week The Dogs Divine shares the following story of an unexpected on-stage dance session:
In 2008 we were doing a show in Melbourne Florida...and this girl from the crowd in a really short skirt and extremely tight top gets on stage. At first she just kinda starts dancing in one place, shaking her hips kinda thing. Well there is this large group of Military MPs that are shipping out in the next day or so to Afghanistan, so they are getting their party on before they leave, well these guys really start encouraging this chick to give them a show.
So, next thing I know, while we are in the middle of a song I might add, she starts going into this choreographed type of moves, I mean it looked like it came out of that movie Flash Dance. I mean spins and kicks and jumping and just all over the stage, from one end to the other. So much so the guitarist and I kinda had to move as far back as possible and basically hug the amps to keep out of her way and avoid a collision.
So we finish the song and it was one of those spots in the set where we just would do a four count on the high hat and go right into another song. So she stays on stage and starts this routine again. So finally we finish the second song and ask her, or rather guide her of stage.
Be sure to check back in again next Tuesday as we continue to share more mosh pit stories.
Canada’s wizards of folk-progressive metal fusion, Scythia, have set aside their time hunting trolls and have come to the rescue of the Richmond Animal Protection Society for a benefit concert to help raise funds for the RAPS two animal shelters in dire need of supplies.
Scythia's vocalist/guitarist Dave Khan commented, "Scythia is stoked to rock out for an honourable cause like animals. A huge inspiration for our breed of folk metal is having a symbiosis with animals and nature... Especially bears, but dogs and cats are awesome as well. We are also stoked about the killer line up, we have played with all of these bands before and believe that each and every band on this bill are top notch musicians capable of delivering incredible performances."
With support from local Vancouver speed thrash metal titans Cradle To Grave, power metallers Aeterna and Nanaimo, BC's Viking warriors Eye of Odin, Scythia along with event organizer and Oboe of death player Morgan Zentner of Aesir Promotions are conquering higher ground for this great cause to help our furry companions in their time of need.
"As the promoter and creator of this event, I am proud to say that Aesir Promotions will be putting on a show to help support such a worthy cause. As an animal owner and lover, I feel that abandoned pets are easily over looked and I was very happy to find the Richmond Animal Protection Society, which is a no kill shelter." says Morgan Zentner, "We have support from bands all over BC and Alberta donating merch for raffle prizes and the support from the metal community in Vancouver has been fantastic. All of the performers for the show are of high caliber and we are all looking forward to helping out our furry friends."
Also for your viewing pleasure, one of Vancouver's best belly dancers, the radiant Mahafsoun will be joining Scythia on stage for a memorable performance. Details are as follows: More...
Rite of Passage Records has premiered Truth And Its Burden's music video for the track "The Decider." The song comes from the band's new album "Choices," which hits stores on May 29th. Check out the video clip below.
“The main idea behind ‘Choices’ is pretty simple;” stated vocalist Ashley DeBeer. “Making choices that reflect clear consideration for dreams and aspirations, it’s not something that merely applies to me/us alone, but rather something many can relate to. I wrote a lot of the songs during a period in my life when change was necessary and I guess with choices in my life I found there was a constant balancing act that took place.”
“There are many contributing factors to making serious life decisions that balance a good choice and help make things a little clearer,” added DeBeer. “Many of the songs reflect the idea of finding myself, building myself, deciding things and just trying to make a conscious effort at being a better person in general.” More...
Poland's Saratan has issued the following announcement about gearing up to release a new album:
"The third album by Cracow based Saratan is ready and will be released in fall 2012. The album title is Martya Xwar (pronounce Martya Hwar /cannibal/). It's 40 minutes of death-thrash metal with oriental flavored instrumentation, vocals and orchestrations.
"The album has been recorded over the course of five months in five different recording studios. Mixed and mastered by V. Santura, guitarist from Tryptikon, Dark Fortress and previously Celtic Frost. Cover artwork has been designed by Michal 'Xaay' Loranc (Nile, Kamelot) and the promotional pictures have been taken by Bandphoto.pl.
"Saratan has recorded this album as a three piece band, after having parted ways with guitarist Mateusz Gajdzik. More info about the album and the record company coming soon!"
Doro will be releasing the new album "Raise Your Fist" this coming Fall, which will be preceded by the "Raise Your Fist In The Air" EP on August 3rd, 2012. You can now check out the artwork for the full "Raise Your Fist" album below. Doro also previously commented:
"The new album will be entitled Raise Your Fist and has been recorded and written in the U.S., Germany, and Scandinavia. Right now we're in the mixing stages and are close to finishing everything. Most important to me are the power hymns ‘Raise Your Fist In The Air’ and ‘Victory,’ which will also be available on the forthcoming EP! Both songs have been played live on our last tour and also made last year’s Wacken Open Air shake! ‘Raise Your Fist In The Air’ will also be available in French… which is going to be very interesting.
"For the diehard fans of German songs like ‘Für Immer’ [‘Forever’], there are two songs in the same vein: the sensitive and quite dark ‘Human Rights’ and the very emotional ‘Engel’ [‘Angel’]. There are also a lot of fast songs like ‘Little Headbanger’ and various fist-pumping ones featuring amazing guests like Gus G (Ozzy Osbourne, Firewind) on ‘Last Man Standing’ which fans will for sure dig live. We also have a song that honors the late Ronnie James Dio called ‘Hero’ and another highlight named ‘It Still Hurts’ featuring Motörhead’s Lemmy Kilmister.
"The cover artwork has once again been created by British artist Geoffrey Gillespie who is a close friend and companion since he made it into the Guinness Book of World Records for his Triumph And Agony cover as the biggest album cover in the world. Since then, he's done ten covers for us!" More...

"The style of Sions Funeral cannot be defined precisely, even within the band, due to the many different influences like The Black Dahlia Murder or In Flames. In summary, it can be described as melodic death metal.
"Sions Funeral was started back in September 2009, initially under a different name. The founding members were Nicolas Kauke (guitar) and drummer Dustin 'Steve' Waltemode. In November 2009, the second guitarist Kai Slupski joined the band And in January 2010, bassist Sven Dobbert. The singer Mika Mex completed the band in February 2010. In May 2010, the band began to play their first gigs in, for example, Zero (Arnsberg. At the end of the year they decided to record their first demo CD.
"Sions Funeral refers to a killing spree, which had taken place in the Indian city of Mumbai, in the county region Sion (1989). These violent crimes, that were never solved, attributed to an offender who is known as 'Stoneman,' he is called this because he mostly killed his victims with a rock.
"We want to, like any other band, inspire and carry away the audience. Each song tells a short story that the listener can interpret individually and thus can identify himself with our music." More...

Death metal ministers Six Feet Under today announce the addition of rhythm guitarist Ola Englund to the their ranks. England, who will make his first official appearance with the band on the 18 Nights Of Blood Tour set to commence next month, takes the place of Rob Arnold.
Comments founding vocalist Chris Barnes of the new recruit: “Ola is an amazing guitarist and was chosen for his superlative technique and style of playing. We believe he will be the perfect complement to Steve Swanson, and the devastating rhythm section that is Talley/Hughell. Steve, Kevin, Jeff and myself are so looking forward to Ola's entrance into the band upon the release of Undead and the commencement of our first tour next month with Dying Fetus and Revocation. We can’t wait for you to witness the new killing machine that is Six Feet Under! Ola takes over duties for our good friend and death metal warrior Rob Arnold who will be retiring from touring but will remain a central writing partner and fellow collaborator on future SFU releases. We are all sad to not have Rob on the road with us, but are confidant and 110% psyched that Ola is now within the ranks of the Undead and will be ready to lay waste to every stop along the way! Hails!”
Adds Englund: "When I got the call from Chris, it felt unreal; first thing that popped up in my head was, ‘why the hell did he want me -- the total gear nerd from Sweden -- to join his awesome band? To be able to share the stage with one of the biggest icons in death metal and the other killer musicians in SFU is a complete honor and a dream come true for me. I couldn't be happier about the situation! Also the new album blew my mind the first time I heard it, it's intense as hell, but still has the riffs and the grooves that Six Feet Under swears by. Fans are going to love it! I’m looking forward to kick some serious ass together with Chris, Kevin, Steve and Jeff! See you on tour!"

"ReVamp is proud to announce that we will proceed working on new songs for our second album with the professional help of Joost van de Broek!

Their cooperation has proofed itself. ReVamp started writing as a band before Floor's burn out already. Due to her sickness the process stopped. Now that her health is improving we decided its time to pick up the songwriting in a higher speed again. Guided by Joost we will search for a fresh metal sound, a ReVamp sound!!!
