Tim Roth of Canadian progressive death metal band Into Eternity has issued the following report of their US and Japan tour:
"The band is back home now in Canada (Steve lives in Boston) after another couple of successful tours. The Symphony X/Epica/Into Eternity US Tour was one of the best we have ever had. The US crowds are killer and we love playing south of our border! After the tour was over, we played a headlining gig and then a sold out show in Pittsburgh with Children Of Bodom. I have never seen such a brutal pit and stage diving! It was an insane crowd, so thanks to COB for letting us play the show with them. They are a great band.
"Next up was a 25 hour plane ride to Osaka, Japan. A big hello to all of the crew and bands we played with on the Extreme The Dojo Vol.20! Also thank you to Toys Factory and Smash West for bringing us to Japan for the very first time. Some people were saying that the Japanese crowd would be more quiet than we were used to. The crowds we played for were great! They were chanting, starting pits and clapping before we even entered the stage. This is a tour that we will never forget. I could not believe how cool all the fans were. They would be waiting at the hotel lobby for pictures and autographs and some were at the bullet train as well! The band got treated like real professionals on that tour and we hope to come back for our new album, 'The Incurable Tragedy.' The Osaka show was great. I had no idea that the fans would know the words to our songs in every city, but I guess that is the power of the internet nowadays. In Nagoya we played in a shopping mall and at the top was a cool rock venue called Club Quattro. Playing Tokoyo was also a dream come true. We got there a day early, so half of the band went sightseeing, but Stu and I went to Toys Factory and did some interviews with some big Japan mags like Burrn, Eat and my favorite, Young Guitar! I remember as a kid ordering the Young Guitar Yngwie Malmsteen instructional VHS tapes. They changed my playing style from that day forward. Yngwie is my favorite guitar player of all time. I'm glad to see him on the cover of the new Guitar World as well. Shred guitar is finally back in!!
"Thanks to all the fans who came out on all of our recent shows. Next up is Summer Slaughter in Canada. We'll be back out soon. Keep it metal!!!"
Into Eternity will be embarking on the Summer Slaughter Canadian tour alongside Necrophagist, Dying Fetus, Beneath the Massacre, Neuraxis, Whitechapel, Veil of Maya, Divinity and Common Grave. Cities and venues TBA. For more information, visit the Summer Slaughter MySpace page.
The organizers who have put together the "Summer Slaughter" tour, which will feature Vader, The Black Dahlia Murder, Crytopsy, Aborted and others, and is being called the "summer's most extreame tour," have come together to make the "Thrash and Burn" tour possible. "Thrash and Burn" aims to give the underground metal fan a relatively inexpensive way. Announced bands featured in the "Thrash and Burn" tour thus far are Darkest Hour, Arsonists Get All the Girls, Arsis, Misery Signals, and others.
Dates and line-ups for each tour can be reached through each of the tour's MySpaces:
Descent Productions has announced the signing of Melbourne, Australia's dark melodic metal band Be'lakor.
In the year that has followed the independent release of their debut, "The Frail Tide," the band's international reputation has grown rapidly. Drawing influences from ancient mythology and the perpetual struggle between destruction and life, Be'lakor creates songs that take the listener on a compelling journey.
From the band: "We are thrilled to be signing with Descent Productions. The bands already on the roster are excellent, and we feel that as a label, Descent offers us great support and the freedom to continue making the music that we're so passionate about. This partnership will certainly bear fruit for our listeners into the future, so stay tuned."
In September 2008, "The Frail Tide" will be re-pressed and released in a special edition digipack format through Descent Productions. Be'lakor's as-yet untitled follow-up to this album will be released through Descent Productions in early 2009.
In the meantime, you can check out some of the band's material on their MySpace page.

English doom metal band Anathema have finished recording their new album "Hindsight" and have sent the masters to their record label. Hindsight will be a semi-acoustic album composed mostly of classic Anathema tracks, as well as one entirely new song.

Anathema's lead guitarist Danny Cavanagh will also be touring Norway and Sweden with Anneke Giersbergen, former vocalist of The Gathering, on the following dates:
12th June - Gassheim, Jevnaker, Norway
13th June - Ravnedalen, Kristiansand, Norway

Cursed frontman Chris Colohan has more or less confirmed the recent rumors of his group's demise. Here's the word:
"Yeah, you heard. Apparently, it gets even worse. That's all I know or even want to know for now. We got robbed at the very end of tour in a totally unreal, extremely sketchy series of events that still makes no sense at all, only leads to paranoia, anger and a total loss of faith. Passports, money, all the costs of the tour. Either way, whoever did it, it was a bullet in the head, the end of the line. A sudden and totally fucked up way for it to end, which I know will be fitting when I look back on it. All we could do was play the show, badly, and go our ways with whatever money we could muster. I hitched a ride back to Prague with Tomas. Since I can't do a fucking thing about it, I'm going to hang out with my girl, and friends, stare at some Czech mountains and try not to think about it. Needless to say, all outstanding plans are off. All this shit aside, thanks to everyone that helped out and travelled from all over for the shows on this tour, all the kids and bands we played and stayed with. Minus a few fucked up shows, it was probably the best tour we ever had. Thanks everyone for your good wishes. I'll elaborate when I'm home next week, for now - yes it's true, and yes it's over."

"We have some cool new festival dates to be added for this year. We are pushing all tour dates for later in the year so we can concentrate on the second Amenti album, which by the way is going quite well. Tours for later this year will be announced in June and they are quality! Were all extremely excited to get back on the road once more.
"Productivity is high and a brand new Amenti is being reborn. We hope to record some rough demos of the new material which depending on the outcome might make public. We are also talking about re-writing or re-recording a few old tracks, just as a bit of bonus material for the new album. A live DVD is also in discussion, either as a separate release to the album or possibly as a limited edition bonus disc."

Arizona's Eyes Set To Kill have announced the dates for their upcoming tour with The Human Abstract and In Fear and Faith. The tour starts June 19th with more dates to be announced shortly.
In the meantime Eyes Set To Kill has checked in with the following tour re-cap following the cancellation of the remaining dates with Otep after singer Otep Shamaya was diagnosed with a throat infection.
"The Otep tour was fantastic. The turn outs were great and the shows were good chance for us to make new fans. We like to thank everyone in the Otep tour for having us out and giving us the chance to connect with their fans," says Eyes Set To Kill drummer Caleb. "We are all very excited to hit the road with Human Abstract in the coming weeks, as they are a great band. This is going to be another great tour and we can't wait to get back out on the road."
Eyes Set To Kill's rise throughout the screamo scene has been nothing short of amazing. The band were crowned MySpace top unsigned act for over ten months before signing to California based BreakSilence for the release of the group's recently released debut full-length "Reach". The album, which debuted at #29 on Billboard's Heatseekers Charts and #77 on Billboard's Independent Music charts, is powered by the dual lead vocal attack of Alexia Rodriguez's melodic vocals and the screams of Brandon Anderson.
Eyes Set To Kill are currently preparing to shoot a video for the track "Darling" in the coming weeks. The group's debut video, "Reach," was directed by Motion Army.

The following report is courtesy of Brad Wheeler from the Globe And Mail:
It's been a long time since LED ZEPPELIN did the stroll in front of a Toronto audience, but a return by the grand British band of blues rock could happen, possibly at Rogers Centre.
Rumours of a Zeppelin reunion have floated freely since the band's ballyhooed one-off performance at London's O2 Arena last December. Current speculation, however, has foundation. "It's my understanding that some preliminary discussions are going on," said Nadia Flaim, the stadium's communications manager .
Earlier this week, a MuchMusic blogger reported that a "reliable source" had provided details. "No fancy tour of the U.S.," the online dispatch reads, "but Toronto will have four dates at Skydome/Rogers Centre this coming August."
According to Ms. Flaim, August concerts are unlikely, due to Blue Jays and Argonauts games already in place. "Just based on the time needed for conversion purposes, it would be a very tight squeeze."
Since the London concert, the group - which broke up in 1980, and last played here in 1971 - have done little to quell rumours. "You never know what is around the corner," guitarist Jimmy Page said early this year. More recently, singer ROBERT PLANT, who is touring with bluegrass singer ALISON KRAUSS this summer, spoke of "unfinished business."
Metallica has posted some more footage from the studio online. You can check it out below.

On May 18, Michelle Meldrum, leader of the band Meldrum and former Phantom Blue guitarist, was rushed to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Burbank in critical condition. She passed away late afternoon Wednesday, May 21, 2008 as a result of a cystic growth on her brain that had restricted oxygen and blood flow to her brain rendering her brain dead.
Meldrum had just completed writing and recording the band's soon to be released album with drummer Gene Hoglan, along with the new lineup including Michele Madden (vocals) and Laura Christine (bass). The surviving band members plan to release the album later this year in tribute to their fallen band-mate.
