In what would seem to be in response to the highly publicized plans of Westboro Baptist Church to picket Ronnie James Dio's memorial service and the information they posted about the man and his beliefs and legacy, Wendy Dio has issued the following update on RonnieJamesDio.com:
"Ronnie hates prejudice and violence! We need to turn the other cheek on these people that only know how to hate someone they didn't know. We only know how to love someone we know!"
As it's been discussed quite thoroughly in the comments of our previous article, I'd venture to say she's right.
Finland's Am I Blood has issued the following brief announced about streaming a new song online via the band's official MySpace page:
"Am I Blood is still trying to figure out the best possible way to release the upcoming album 'Existence Of Trauma.' So meanwhile have a nice trip with the new track 'Follow Me On The Darkside'."
The song is also available via the band's ReverbNation widget:
Additional details on the new album's release date will be announced as they are made available. You can check out a previously released teaser for the "Existence of Trauma" album below:
Germany's Heaven Shall Burn has launched an album trailer for the band's new full-length record, "Invictus," which is due out in North America on June 8th via Century Media Records. The trailer can be viewed below.
Christian power metallers Narnia recently announced their intention to disband. Narnia Guitarist CJ Grimmark has now checked in with the following statement regarding the plans of Westboro Baptist to protest Ronnie James Dio's public memorial service:
"With the resent statements of the 'Westboro Baptist Church' regarding Ronnie James Dio in mind, I feel obliged to make the following statement. First, I sincerely hope it's all a prank by someone with a bad and hopefully rare sense of humor (such as someone wanting to bash the WBC), but if it's not - let me say: Statements by fanatics does NOT represent a majority - never ever. What was said about Ronnie after his recent passing away made me sick to my stomach. As a christian believer there are many things that was written and sung by RJD that I'm not behind at all. But do I want to judge him? No!
"Does God allow or encourage ANY human to judge him or any other human for that matter, or wish someone 'to hell'? NO, it's strictly against the teachings of Jesus! What would Jesus do?
Think about it before you answer. Remember, we are all sinners but we're equally loved by God, and he wants us ALL by his side. The door is open to anyone who wants to enter. Not by our perfection but by the grace of God. More...
Vincent Crowley has issued the following statement about Acheron deciding to call it a day:
"Metal Hellions, after a 22 year run, I am finally putting Acheron to an end. It has been an interesting journey, but it is indeed over now. I know I have broken up the band in the past, but there is no turning back this time. This musical entity has run its course and I didn’t want to tarnish what Acheron represented. Some people didn’t agree with my decision, but I feel I know what is right to do.
"Acheron never set out to be the most technical, fastest or heaviest band out there. That was not what I strived to achieve. Those who resonated to our music knew the feeling and spirit it had behind it. And this music was not created for the masses, it was an art form to be embraced by other kindred souls who shared the same likes and interests. That is why the fans have always been very special to me. Their dedication and support fueled the Hellfires! In the end I never really cared what the media thought of us, but I did want the fans to always get 100% Acheron. More...

3. The Confusion of Tongues
4. Reap what you Saw

Savannah, GA's Black Task is currently streaming the new album "Taste The Sin" online at this location. The band has now posted a full track-by-track breakdown online through Decibel Magazine. The breakdown can be read below.
Song I: Embrace the Madness: (This song is about) if you hear this music or this sound and its making you go crazy, and makes you go mad from the sound. That’s how this one goes, its making your ears bleed, and talks about the thunder, a big storm rolling in.
Song II: The Snake Charmer: This is talking about the Taste the Sin theme. I wouldn’t say it’s the title track, but it’s most related to the artwork for sure. It’s talking about playing with the deadly snakes and you want to think you can tame the snake, which is a representation of any kind of evil, but eventually you know you’re going to get bit by it.
Song III: Red Eyes, Black Skies: Instrumentally, this one is full-force all the way through. This one is about being surrounded by this creature and all you can see is its eyes glaring in the distance and it’s almost like your running for your life but at the same time knowing you’re not going to make it. This song is evil and galloping through the whole thing.More...

"I will be playing the Of Human Bondage/Woods of Ypres show on June 19th and the second School's all out show on June 26th which will be my last show. I'd like to thank Kyle, Ryan, Scott, and Craig for the times we've shared on the stage as a band and off as friends.

Bassist Rodrigo comments on the title, "The name 'Streams Inwards' reflects the idea that emotion is the connection between us and the world that surrounds us, between our most intense feelings and the universe. All of us, all of this, everything is part of an endless sea. It is about how all the elements around us build and nourish our most sincere emotions - good, bad, whatever...
"Our previous album, 'Draining the Waterheart', referred to some similar process: the liberation of these same streams. The new title shares that same concept, but in a broader way. Wherein the mix of these simple and transcendent elements define our most pure nature, to feel and create."

Guitarist Janne Stark says: "Musically this album is true to the '80s way of heavy metal, bringing in influences from the classic metal era of bands like Accept and Judas Priest with no modern elements whatsoever. Not that we’ve ever been modern. I know all bands say it, but we do sincerely feel this will be our strongest album ever. It feels like all pieces fit and even though we’ve only recorded half the drums I’m really confident this will be a killer album!"
Some song titles from the album include:
"Cold Blood Chaser"
"Call The Priest"
"Signs All Over"
"Brand New Sinner"
"It's Not As Easy As It Seems"
German thrash metal legends Sodom has announced that they will be releasing their brand new, two-disc DVD entitled, "Lords Of Depravity II" in Europe on June 28th and on July 13th in North America. The first disc features a documentary on the band, focusing from the years 1995 to 2009. The second will include live footage, video clips and deleted scenes with around three hours worth of material.
Sodom frontman Tom Angelripper states: “Five years after releasing our first Sodom DVD, you’re now holding the second part in your hands. To begin with I want to thank you for your patience. In the meantime it happened a lot, which we want to give you an account of with this film.
"The story of LOD - part 1 ended in the year 1995, which included many ups and downs for me. It was a year I had to make a lot of decisions in, which where of essential importance for my career and further musical future. The last contractual album with SPV, Masquerade In Blood blazed the trail for rebound. When drummer Atomic Steif and guitarist Strahli left the band after the accomplishment of this album, I thought about forming a completely new band or turn my back on the music business forever. I lacked the willingness to discuss each of my decisions with the band members. I had to look ahead. The numerous replacements of band members in the past unnerved me and tested my mettle. The idea to start a solo project emerged through many intense conversations with friends and my musical surroundings. Producer Ulli Pösselt also encouraged me to this enterprise. A record label, which evinced the willingness in supporting the project was found straight. The Tom Angelripper – future Onkel Tom – project came into being and released four albums through the label GUN Records. I realized quickly, that living without Sodom was unacceptable for me. The record label wasn’t enthusiastic about perpetuating Sodom, the more so as the albums of the solo project worked out well in view of the circumstances at that time, even within the non-metal scene. I was advised to put Sodom on hold or to draw the curtain for good. To achieve a common purpose I convinced the head of the record label to recall Sodom to life with a completely new line-up. I became acquainted with drummer Bobby by fluke, later with guitarist Bernemann, who both roistered together in the bands Crows and Randalica. The phase of us getting to know each other certainly is described at length in this film. After a couple of rehearsals we decided to go on together and record a new album. This seemed like a new birth to me, and we got down to work, 'cause finally there were a lot of live shows to be played again. Initially, all this was virgin soil to Bobby and Bernemann. Our first tour, which we were doing together with many top-class bands turned out to be a long desired dream coming true for both of them. I finally made the attempt to establish a permanent line-up, which succeeded despite the hard time. More...
Gene Simmons (Kiss) continues to push a “stage challenge” to both U2 and The Rolling Stones. I find it interesting this offer has yet to be extended to AC/DC. Deep Purple members Ian Gillan (vocals) and Steve Morse (guitar) have each posted messages online paying tribute to former Black Sabbath singer Ronnie James Dio, who sadly passed away on May 16th after a bout with stomach cancer. The messages read as follows:
Ian Gillan - "My dear friend Ronnie, departed but not gone. Resting peacefully (for a while) but never forgotten. I've had a sackful of mail since your passing; a sharing of grief and sorrow. We all remember your huge voice, of course - my ears are still ringing: Your wicked humour and sense of decency: The utter professionalism and personality that inspired so much respect from your friends in music. The list goes on but the quality that stands out above all others is your enduring generosity. The one thing that we all treasure, the gift you gave us was your kindness. We all agree you were the kindest man we ever knew. Catch up later, mate."
Steve Morse - "Ronnie Dio was a real musician. He was a guy that everybody liked, and always sang loud, in tune, and strong, with that famous voice. I watched him patiently deal with fans at the stage door, and patiently deal with me when I was lucky enough to back him up on our orchestra tour. We backed him up doing a couple of his tunes, and he was tactful and precise with his constructive comments. He could tell if I played one note wrong. I recall him telling me that he used to play trumpet, which might explain his very good ears. Everybody that ever met him will miss him, as well as anybody who ever heard him sing."

American heavy metal outfit The Showdown has announced that they will be embarking on a short headlining tour in the United States next month. This is in preparation for their forthcoming new studio album, "Blood In The Gears," which is scheduled to be released sometime this Summer.
The tour dates are as follows: More...
The recent announcement that there would be a public memorial service for the late heavy metal icon Ronnie James Dio was one that fans all over the world were extremely happy about, as it is a great way to remember a greater man. However, the memorial could be spoiled by the Westboro Baptist Church who has announced that they plan to picket the event, as people like Ronnie James Dio (i.e. people with intelligence) apparantly are Satanic.
They claim the protest is "to remind you who worship that old Serpent, Satan, that your time is very short. You know 67 year old, Satan-worshiping (or at least one of their enablers) Ronnie James Dio (of showing his devil horns to the world each time he goes in public) Black Sabbath fame is dead, right? We'll be there! Just because the chances of any of God's elect being amongst this group of heavy metal sycophants is slim to none does not mean they should not get some good words.
"He hates his neighbor(s) starting with Ozzy Osbourne, and continuing down to his pornography star niece Gen Padova!
"He hates God. Pay especial attention to the fact that he changed his original sir name from Padova to Dio, which means God in Italian.
"Ronnie the simpleton enabled, and encouraged Sorceries: everything he was about including the little finger horn thing (he got this from his mother which is an incantation to ward off the 'evil eye') to the drugs, bloody raw meat and his fellowship with those pentagon necklace wearing freakish band members."
