As was previously reported, Rigor Mortis guitarist Mike Scaccia underwent neck surgery earlier this month. The band has issued the following update about his condition:
"I have spoken with Mike every few days to get updates on his recovery. As I mentioned a while back... the surgery is a success. Mike says he no longer has the pains in his arms that have bothered him in recent years. However, he has really been in some serious pain from the actual surgery itself. He has had to go back to the hospital 3 different times because of swelling in his neck and the severe pain he is going through. So he still has a long road ahead of him before he is 100% again.
"But Mike again mentioned how much that all of your support has meant to him to help him get through this scary time in his life and career. It has really motivated him to look forward to writing some of the best music of his career as soon as he is able. He says his arms feel like they did 20 years ago and he thinks he will be able to play even better and faster than he ever has. He can't wait to start writing some new Rigor Mortis songs. So again thanks from Mr. Scaccia and the rest of us in Rigor Mortis for all of your support!"
U.K. based thrashers Seventh Angel are currently streaming a new song online titled "Chaos Of Dreams." The track can be heard on the band's MySpace page. The new song is off the band's upcoming album "The Dust Of Years," which will be released on June 23rd.
Bassist Anthony Pereda of California metal band Inacage has issued the following statement about reaching two years of sobriety:
"I'm proud and thankful to say that today I have been sober for 2 years straight. After drinking for 15 it seemed like the chances of quitting for good were unlikely considering how much I love alcohol! lol.
"I still do! NA beer is nice because I love the taste! Clausthaler from Germany is my favorite! Miss the awesome micro brews though. Ha! However, there isn't a substitute for wine. Uh....grape juice doesn't do the trick. A glass of Merlot would be nice. OR A SHOT OF JACK! )=o)
"The first year was brutal! The 2nd was easy! I find it a little strange that it went by this fast but when you're in the process it seems like forever! Id also like to add that I did this on my own. I didnt go to AA meetings or become a reborn christian like many feel they have to do in order to have enough strength to quit. I say whatever works for you and if you accomplish your goal and are happy then more power to you! For me, I rather not attend meetings and hear sob stories while talking about alcohol for 2 hours! All that would do is make me want to go out and drink as soon as the meeting was over! As for being reborn? I don't need to go to church to help me quit. They have wine too! I'd take the whole goblet from the priest and down it! The only support I have needed is from my family and friends. THANK YOU MOM, STEPHANIE, ARIEL, DARREN, MIKE, MY AUNTS, UNCLES & COUSINS AND ANYONE ELSE WHO MAY HAVE ENCOURAGED ME ALONG THE WAY!! ALL OF YOU HAVE BEEN VERY HELPFUL AND I DONT THINK I WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DO THIS WITHOUT YOU! More...

Anthrax's new studio album, "Worship Music" has now entered the mixing stages according to the band. The record is being mixed by Ugly Kid Joe member Dave Fortman, who has previously worked with Slipknot and Mudvayne amongst others. Fortman stated: "In 1986, I saw two shows at Jed's in New Orleans that changed my life, one of those was Anthrax. Not long after, I packed up and headed out to make a career in music. Twenty-three years later, it's an absolute pleasure and an honor to work with these guys. They are and always have been one of the great forces in metal."
"I've always looked at the songs we write like our kids," admitted Scott Ian. "And you wouldn't want to let just anyone take care of your kids, right? Dave is helping us raise really fucking heavy kids."
"Dave Fortman not only understands the music, he lives it," added Benante. "I was so happy when he sent over the first mix, it was all there, it was as if he put himself behind the kit, the mic, the bass. He listens to the song and sees what the song needs, and then he starts building it. We're all confident that Dave will dial it all in and make a monster for us. Like us, Dave worships music, and we like that."

California speed metal veterans Agent Steel has announced that they will be entering the recording studio soon to record a brand new album. A message from the band reads as follows:
"Thanks to those who came out to the D Club in Azusa, California for a evening or metal and trance music (yes....trance in the other rooms). The Metal was flowing at the D Club... Great live sets from COFFIN TEXTS, SADISTIC INTENT, and others guests all the way from Japan! Agent Steel hit the stage sometime after 1AM and opened with 'Know Your Master' off the Omega Conspiracy CD; next up was 'Evil Eye' followed by 'Children Of The Sun' both songs off the 1985 classic Skeptics Apocalypse release. We also performed 'Unstoppable Force' and 'Forever Black' before unleashing 'It's Not What You Think' (last time we played that was almost a year ago at the Graspop Metal Meeeting in Belgium; by this time the P.A. was falling apart the sound deteriorating from a night of pure molten metal by all the bands; we did manage to play 'Fashioned From Dust' off Alienigma (Mascot Records) release and then the P.A. main vocals went out; we did manage to finish it up with 'Bleed For The Gods' with Bruce (Hall - vocals) orchestrating the vocals to the crowd! A shorter set than normal but not as short as the legendary Athens, Greece (five-song set ). We will schedule another Los Angeles show under better conditions and a properly working P.A.; special thanks to Emilio (System Hardcore) for making the show happen and also congratulations on your anniversary! We are planning on entering the recording studio in the next two weeks to track a few new songs for demo purposes for our label, management, and we will stream it as well for all of you guys to check out once we are finished with recording. Until next time......"
