Keep of Kalessin is one of the most interesting and original bands in metal today, managing to still gain an audience despite ignoring every contemporary trend and emerge stronger for it. After the success of the band's fourth-place single for Norway's selection for the Eurovision Song Contest last year, the band has managed to gain much more publicity and has remained in the spotlight ever since. Metal Underground was lucky enough to catch up with the band's founder Obsidian Claw at Reggie's Rock Club in Chicago during the group's tour with Sepultura. More...
Hellbastard has checked in with the following update about the band's upcoming full-length album:
"Hellbastard is hard at work writing the new full length album, title unknown as yet but a few working track titles are in place, with songs like 'Rockstar Burning,' 'Throw de Petrol Bomb...,' 'Living Under the Grid,' and 'Emotionally Retarded Raging Bitch.' This promises to be the angriest and most intimate of hellbastard albums ever.
"Hellbastard flies out to Sweden next month to play the prestigious "punk illegal fest" held yearly near Gothenburg, this promises to be a real feral and wild affair, lasting over three days Hellbastard headline the event on Sat. June 25th.
"Hellbastard also has a new video in the works with Andrew Lefton at the helm of controls, Mr. Lefton has just completed the Amebix new video 'Knights of the Black Sun' for their upcoming teaser 12" to be released shortly on profane existence and alternative tentacles exclusively.
"Also new for Hellbastard's next album will feature the new line-up of scruff on vocals/guitars, Tom Mccombe on guitar, Paul O'Shea on bass and Michael Brush on drums. This same line-up that played the mammoth USA tour 2010 and the more recent 'Bastards over Europe' tour with Boston's most hated panzerbastard and the U.K.'s own suicide watch. More...
Former Destruction Of A Rose vocalist Evan Foxx has posted the following statement online, detailing his departure from the Las Vegas based deathcore act Destruction Of A Rose.
"It has been a great time, touring and building friendships across the country, but unfortunately there has been a 'plateau-esq' feeling for me lately in the band. There have been other opportunities that have arisen for me recently that I feel I must make a move on, and that calls for me to split from DOAR. To everyone who has helped us, supported us, watched us play, shared the stage with us, and to all my friends in the industry, I love you all. This is not the end for me, and to my bandmates you are some of my best friends and always will be."

Northern Virginia based doom rock outfit King Giant is currently in the final mixing and mastering stages for the band's upcoming sophomore full-length, "Dismal Hollow," currently being slated for release by Autumn 2011.
In March of this year, the five members of King Giant entered Inner Ear Studios (Minor Threat, Fugazi, Avail, Jawbox, etc.) to take their thunderous doom-bred Southern rock to the next level on their sophomore full-length. The band has just released a trailer built around the creation of the new album, which can be viewed below.
King Giant has also recently signed with 313 Artist Management -- home of Hour Of 13, Pristina, Cortez, When The Deadbolt Breaks and more -- so expect to hear more widespread news and live action from the band in the coming months as more live ventures are booked and the album nears completion.
Progressive metalcore act August Burns Red has posted some new drum cam footage online taken from the band's rehearsal studio. The video features drummer Matt Greiner performing a song from the band's upcoming album "Leveler" titled "Divisions." The new album is expected to hit store shelves in North America on June 21, 2011.
Guitarist Kevin Bower of reactivated British heavy metal outfit Hell has posted a track-by-track breakdown of the band's new album "Human Remains." You can check out the breakdown below, or find Hell's video clip for "On Earth As It Is In Hell" at this location.
1 OVERTURE: THEMES FROM 'DEATHSQUAD': This began life as a rocking instrumental which originally appeared as the B-side of HELL's self-financed and now extremely rare 1983 7" vinyl single – subsequently bootlegged, but with the original now selling for absolutely ludicrous money on Ebay. For the introduction to this album, Kev Bower has taken some of the principal themes and orchestrated them in full-on Wagner 'Sturm und Drang' style using digitally-sampled orchestra and choir.
2 ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HELL: The intro section to this song is strangely notable for having been written by Tony Speakman whilst he was sat playing his bass on the toilet (bog metal?) with the remainder consisting of typically 'agent provocateur' religion-questioning lyrics over slabs of furious riffing. Live performances of this would always see Dave donning a full vicar's garb complete with the band’s now-infamous pyrotechnic exploding bible. This caused outrage amongst the local clergy at the time - it was literally front-page headline stuff in the local papers…More...
Chile based death metal act Dominus Xul has inked a deal with Xtreem Music for the release of the band's upcoming second album "To the Glory of the Ancients," which is currently being recorded at Maestro3 Studios in Santiago.
Dominus Xul was formed back in 1992 under the name of Dominus, releasing a demo & EP in '94 & '97 respectively, and then changing names to Dominus Xul to release the first full-length album "The Primigeni Xul" in '98. After that, the band split up and some members formed Melektaus, until in 2010 they decided to resurrect Dominus Xul with the following line-up:
Claudio Salinas - Vocals (Trimegisto)
Alejandro Lizana - Guitar (original member & also ex-Melektaus/ex-Thornafire)
Fernando Villalobos - Guitar (ex-Melektaus)
Eduardo Fuentes - Bass (ex-Azael)
Felipe Zará - Drums (Innana/Trimegisto)
"To the Glory of the Ancients" will be released during summer 2011 and will feature eight tracks.
Molotov Solution has issued the following update about recording a new album:
"Hey, it’s Molotov Solution and we are here in the Machine Shop in New Jersey working on our Blkheart Group Debut. We have been working on the album since early this year and finally entered the studio to start tracking April 29th. We’ve been tracking for a solid two weeks now and are relieved to be this ahead of schedule and having it sound this much to our liking!
"Immediately once we got here drums were on the agenda. Jake flew through the percussions in just two days. Even though we had our entire album finished in pre-production, our Producer, Will Putney, has us on a healthy regiment of tracking.
"Once the drums were done with, we enjoyed a nice day off afterwards in preparation for tracking guitar and bass. For Richie and Robbie, the tones for both of these were so crucial from the start. So after Richie came back from visiting home for a bit, we had dialed in a tone. The result was a satisfying layering of heavy, yet clear and distinguishable touch on the tones for our drop G and drop E tunings. In addition to the Mesa, Peavey and Diezel heads for rhythm tones, we have been performing overdubs and leads using Fractal Audio’s Axe-Fx. More...

The band is currently writing for its Relapse debut and follow-up to "Noctambulant," which is set to be released this fall. Spawn of Possession's Jonas Bryssling commented on the signing and upcoming release:
"We are very exited to have become part of the Relapse family and their amazing roster. The new album will contain nine tracks plus an instrumental intro which we'll be recording throughout the summer starting in June. Once again we'll be teaming up with producer Mankan Sedenberg at Pama Studios in Sweden. Right now we're prepping the recording and straightening out the last details of the material. More good news is on the way so keep your eyes open for a brand new Spawn of Possession website which will be launched soon. As usual we like to keep what is coming under wraps, but rest assured this record will be quite a slab of imaginative brutality for you guys to sink your teeth into."
Since the release of The Alien Blakk's sophomore album "Bekoming" (reviewed here), front man Joshua Craig has been remaining relatively low key. A new posting has been made on the home page for The Alien Blakk and a new solo video clip from the guitarist has been posted online, which can be viewed below. The update from Joshua reads:
"Whats up! Been a minute so I thought I would drop in here and throw you some 411. I have been busy working on a lot of video game music and putting together new music for many projects. I also am putting together a new band. A few things I am doing are playing in Bend, Oregon doing a solo acoustic show on Saturday, July, 16. I am also doing a clinic at Berklee College Of Music in Boston at the end of September.
"I will post a date when it has been confirmed. I also just did a story for their magazine which comes out in July. I am also doing an east and a west coast clinic tour scheduled for September and October. Dates to be announced soon. Most likely G C stores and a few Indy spots as well. News on new signature products to come, but in the meantime, feel free to check out a clip I did last night…until we meet again!"
British crossover thrashers SSS have revealed that Napalm Death frontman Barney Greenway will appear as a guest vocalist on the band's forthcoming new album, titled "Problems to the Answer."
Greenway performs guest vocals on the tracks "The Kill Floor," "Here Comes The Neighbourhood," and "Roar." The new album "Problems to the Answer" is due to be released in Europe on June 6th and in North America on July 12th.
Barney Greenway comments on his guest appearance: "Foxy really knows his musical onions and when he had some parts for me to do, I knew it was going to be a gas. The main part had a Discharge-y feel to it, so I was sold on that instantly. Went in, shouted, went home. No fucking about. Good stuff."
SSS frontman Foxy also added, "Barney was on a shortlist of one - it was him or no one. Knew he'd be into the direction of our latest musical outing and the stance the songs take were right up his street. Some serious barking was required and his dulcet tones didn't disappoint." More...

Nemesea has issued the following announcement revealing the title of the band's upcoming album:
"We are really excited to announce the title of our upcoming album today. It’s one of the most fun things to come up with when you’re busy working on an album; finding a title that connects all songs to each other.
"The title we’ve chosen for our new album is: The Quiet Resistance!
"Last week we’ve introduced the team we’ve been working with for the last couple of months to create this album. We can tell you that Joost is almost done with the mix, so in a few weeks the promotion of the new album will start. Almah is currently in the studio recording the follow-up to the 2008 album "Fragile Equality." The band has now posted two studio video clips online, which can be viewed after the jump. Guitarist Marcelo Barbosa also checked in from the studio with the following update:
"The last few weeks I live between the trips from my home city Brasilia to Sao Paulo and back: at first, it was preproduction of the new material and right now, we're recording the guitars for the new CD of Almah. The whole atmosphere in the studio is very good and we are convinced that the album will be great. As the songs are taking shape, we start to realize the weight and profundity of them and of their arrangements. All the guitar basics have been already recorded and at the moment we are doing some details and the solos. I have to return to Brasília for the week-end because of some shows and appointments there. But I believe that before the middle of the next week we'll finish all the guitar and acoustic guitar parts.
"Too many things happen at the same time and I must confess that I'm getting a bit crazy because of it. But let come what may!
"I've made two videos with parts of the new songs. They are short because we can't reveal all the secrets before their time, but I think it could be enough to stimulate your curiosity. Some elements remind Fragile Equality, after all, the band remains the same with the same guitarists. These elements are a part of our sound's identity. But I'm sure that for the most part of the album we are daring enough and many things will be different from the stuff presented on the previous CD. More...

"I figured it was due time to give you all a quick update. As of last night, I have completed 5 drum tracks, with song #6 and #7 in line to be done today and I am really happy with the way things are going thus far. Johnny K has been a blast to work with as he shares the same vision as we do, which is to make a solid, heavy record. We are definately on the right path here...
"We have one song completely done and submitted for a video game - without going into the details of it, anybody who knows me and what I like musically, this tune put a big smile on my face. In time, you will all hear what I am talking about, but for now, it's back to work at Vic's Garage."

After rumors have circulated that vocalist Derek Rydquist has left The Faceless, Lambgoat.com is now reporting that Rydquist has confirmed his split with the band. A message from the former front man to Lambgoat reads as follows:
As you Internet sleuths have deduced, I have left The Faceless. I left the band a couple months ago, and we were waiting until they had everything sorted out on their end before saying anything about it, but I guess I'll take it upon myself to break the news. I am no longer emotionally or artistically fulfilled by being the vocalist for the group, and that's how I arrived at my decision. Touring's luster has worn off, and I have found myself reconsidering the role I would like to take in creating and presenting music. Also, being a 'professional musician' was kind of ruining my love for music because when you rely on this stuff to make you money, as with anything, it is easy to become bitter towards it. Not that it was all bad, I had the best times I will ever have being in this band, but it is time for me to move on.
I'd like to thank the band and the friends I've made through the band for making this not only a life altering experience, but a life shaping one. There is an immense amount of talent in this band, and the new vocalist they have is doing a great job, so please keep supporting The Faceless. I can now join you in anticipating the new album.
If you're interested, I'm now playing in another group with some dudes from some awesome bands. Check it out here. We're mixing the album right now, so we should have some music up soon.
You can also check out a new song from The Faceless titled "The Eidolon Reality" by heading over to this location.

Elexorien has issued the following announcement about officially breaking up, as well as about forming a new band titled Qauntum Theory:
"Legions, this may come as a surprise, but we hereby announce that our band is no more. We literally buried the hatched -or the blade, if you will- and will no longer operate under the banner of Elexorien.
"In many ways, this has been quite a tough decision. In others, it was the best choice we could have made, for we are proud to announce the following: We will keep on rocking!
"Liza, Ronald, Bert and Lain, as well as close comrades Jarno (ex-Thronar, ex-Murder Manifest) and Nikky (ex-Noir, Paradox Machine) have formed a new band called Quantum Theory, which is working on a brand new album as we speak. For details, please visit the Quantum Theory website, Facebook, Twitter, and Myspace.

"After 9 years I have decided to leave the band Heidevolk. When I founded the band in 2002 I have done this to, as an artist, bring a message to the world, the proud pagan message of Heidevolk. "The next CD will be my last with Heidevolk and I will leave the band in the fall of this year. Not without pain in my heart because with Heidevolk I have had some the best times of my life, which I will always remember.

September Murder have posted the following statement online announcing the departure of bassist Guntar Elsaser from the group.
"This development is neither a result of arguments nor of other discrepancies, but of Guntar's lack of time and possibilities in the future to share the stage with us. As much as he and of course we wished for this, it is impossible for him to accomodate professional and private issues in a way that enables him to be part of the band further on."
