Schelmish has recently signed to Napalm Records. The German band will put a different spin on the static Middle-ages Rock genre. Schelmish skilfully blends rock sounds and medieval instruments. Fans of IN EXTREMO and SALTATIO MORTIS should make sure to check out the forthcoming release of the German gleemen. A release is tentatively scheduled for autumn/winter 2008.
Leng Tch'e singer Boris Cornelissen has decided to leave the band. Cornelissen has issued the following:
"After four of the coolest and craziest years of my life, I've decided to quit my activities in Leng Tch'e. A difficult decision, considering the fact that I really loved the shows/touring and hanging out with these guys. However, I came to a point in my life where other things start to matter. I don't have the energy and commitment anymore that I used to have, so the time has come to part ways with Leng Tch'e. For me it feels like ending a long term relationship and I think it will feel really strange knowing they will go on without me. Nevertheless, I know this is a well considered decision and wish them all the best in the future. Leng Tch'e has made me who I am today. Thanks for that!"
A replacement has been found in Serge Kasongo (Ackros), about whom the band states: "Serge blew us away right from the start and we are sure that he will take the band to new heights."
Wrench In The Works is currently in the studio recording their Facedown Records debut, which has been titled "Lost Art of Heaping COal." Tracking is taking place at Silver Bullet Studios in Burlington, CT and the album will hit streets in August. According to the band, "The rock is sounding amazing and we could not be happier with the way the record is shaping out to be."
The Russian band ARKONA has joined the Napalm Records' ranks. The band;s leader is the charismatic frontlady Masha Scream, who also writes all the music and lyrics, as well as delivering her fierce vocals. The band plays Slavic Pagan Metal and embellishes their versatile compositions with the use of folk instrumentation. The cover artwork was delivered by the legendary Kris Verwimp (Thyrfing, Manegarm,.) and the album itself, "Ot Serdca K Nebu" ("From the Heart to the Sky"), will be released on July 4.
Avantgarde Music has announced the signing of Den Saakaldte. Although the band's moniker is new, Den Saakaldte already created some buzz with their demo CD recently released on Eerie Art Records and thanks to their memorable show at the latest Inferno Festival, in Oslo.
Mainman Sykelig (guitar) has been joined in various moments of their still short life by Jormungand (keys, of Dødheimsgard fame), S.Winter on drums (Aeternus, Gehenna), Seidemann on bass guitar (yet member of 1349 and Pantheon I) and Kvarforth of all Kvarforths, on vocals.
OPIATE FOR THE MASSES unleashed a trailer of the video for their single “Burn You Down” today on their MySpace page. This high energy track is the first single from the group’s much anticipated new album, MANIFESTO, which is set for a July 8th release.
The band, along with acclaimed director David Brodsky (GWAR, Helmet) shot the video for “Burn You Down” in Los Angeles. This 30-second trailer gives you a taste of what is to come.
The band kicks off a tour with FILTER beginning tomorrow, May 20, in Atlanta, Georgia. This will be their first time out on the road in a while “OPIATE has taken a break from the road for long enough,” says vocalist Ron Underwood. “We have an awesome new album, new lineup, and new outlook and we're really excited that the inaugural tour in support of MANIFESTO is with FILTER.” Underwood has been a FILTER fan for years… “Seeing the video for "Hey Man, Nice Shot" as a kid made me want to punch though a plate glass window, steal a guitar, and form my own band. This is gonna be an awesome summer!” More...
Death To Music productions brings you a full 9-track album from ambient industrial metal side-project of underground DnB producer Federico Agreda (a.k.a Zardonic, Gorepriest etc etc..), Blackholepit. The label comments on the style of music: "With a sound that will have you reaching for the valium, this could be the 1992 cross-over album from Varg Vikernes (Burzum) and Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) that never happened."
You can download the entire album now, totally free via the label's "releases" page using the log-in details sent to you OR if you are not on the mailing list, then send a blank email to email@example.com.

Florida based metal band INFERNAEON have announced the addition of several new members including Jeramie Kling formerly of The Absence. The bands front man Brian Werner had this to say, “After that last Pyrexia tour we had a cancer within the band that needed to be removed forcefully which threatened everything that this band is trying to accomplish. Our drummer at the time ended up getting the job with Malevolent Creation, so you can’t fault him for that. Sam and Brian just wanted to go in different directions and we wish them the best of luck. Seriously, we hope those guys find what they’re looking for. We have Chris Default from Divine Empire back in the band, who was an original member and wrote most of these songs anyways as well as Jeramie from The Absence who is straight up a seriously cool motherfucker and one of the best drummers I’ve heard in a while.”
The band also welcomes to the fold guitar player and long time friend Erick Leider to replace Sam Molina and Dave Stein on Keyboards.
“These guys are some of the most dedicated musicians I’ve worked with in a while. They take their trade seriously which makes working with them so much easier than before. I’ve known Erick for the better part of 10 years and when I asked him if he wanted to do this, he quit his job, cleaned out his bank account, left his woman and moved to the other side of the country to be a part of this. Not to mention Dave is Kevin’s brother so it’s cool to have some blood in the band.”
The band is currently on tour supporting their latest album, "A Symphony of Suffering," on Prosthetic Records. The band will be supporting Skinless and Vital Remains for the week and then finishing up with Fierce Allegiance on their way home to Florida.
“We have a shit load of touring coming up this summer and well into the fall. We can’t announce it yet until everything confirms, but we should be very active for the rest of the year. See you fuckers soon. We have a ton of new merch available at Indiemerch.com”
BELIEVER have checked in with this new studio report:
"Many of you have been asking for a new update, so here it is. We have been working hard on the vox and have two tunes left to do. We hope to finish these off this week and everything is sounding excellent (at least we think so). We cannot wait for you to hear this stuff. Hopefully everything business-wise will work out so that we can make it easily accessible to everyone who's interested. Along these lines, as soon as a release date is nailed down, you will be the first to know. We're pretty stoked to play this stuff live also and have been discussing song lists, technical details, etc. I'll try to provide you with updates on a more regular basis and thanks to those who send me reminders to do so."
The following announcement was posted on Iced Earth's official website:
"It's official - ICED EARTH will return to the home of their most frenzied fanbase in Europe and the world - Greece - on July 20, 2008 at the Lycabettus Theater in Athens. It will be the first time since the band's 1999 performance at the Rondon Club which spawned the band's classic live three-album epic, 'Alive In Athens', that Athenians will be able to see Jon (Schaffer - guitar), Matt (Barlow - vocals), and Brent (Smedley - drums) reunited on the same stage. In contrast to those two cold winter nights in 1999, we're expecting an inferno this time around that will make Hades proud!"
Katagory V have posted the following message:
"We've been very busy the last few months compiling ideas and working out song arrangements for album #5. And thus far, it would be safe to say we are now 80% complete with the writing process for the next album.
"Curtis, Matt and I have been very diligent in writing and orchestrating new material since January, and if all goes well, we should be hitting the studio at the end of the year to start tracking the next album! We are very excited about what ideas that are coming out, and we feel this could be our most versatile album yet. All that we need to do now is to work out some of the guitar melodies and vocals parts and it will be time to move into the pre-production phase, and that leads me to the next little tidbit that I'm sure everyone wants to know…
"With a new album nearly written, I'm sure there is still a bigger question at hand among our fans — what about a new singer and guitarist? Is there anyone? If so, who are they!? At this moment, we know who the new vocalist of KATAGORY V will be and we are currently working with a guitarist right now who we feel might fit best. Once we have had some time to work with them a bit more, their identities will be revealed in a few more weeks, so hang tight! An official announcement concerning these two very talented gentlemen is not far away!"
Korn frontman Jonathan Davis was recently talking with fans on the groups official website chatroom, Korn Korner. He had this to say on former guitarist Brian "Head" Welch and drummer David Silvera:
"Head doesn't want to come back yet. I miss him sooooo fuckin' bad, but I don't think he is ready to be put back in the element he ran from. Drugs are everywere, and I think he's not ready to be around it yet. I think Fieldy can help him a lot because he's Christian too and sober and does fine. Now David, I don't know what's gonna happen there. I just think he is done with music; it not his passion anymore. It sucks, but hey, he has to be happy, right?! We are very happy with [current KORN touring drummer] Ray Luzier. Every time I see him, he's got a drum magazine or a drumstick in his hands. It pumps me and Fieldy and Munk up. So maybe one day you will see Head up there with us, I hope."
He also revealed in the chat that the next Korn album will be produced by Ross Robinson, who produced their self titled debut album and their sophomore album "Life Is Peachy", in addition to many other bands such as Soulfly and Limp Bizkit.
Brazillian thrash legends Sepultura have posted the following statement via Myspace:
"Today we entered the studio to start recording our new album, click here you can see some pics from preparing everything for the recording sessions. More detailed news and more footage will follow very soon, so stay tuned, keep checking our page and subscribe to our blog, THANKS!!!"

ANAAL NATHRAKH have posted the following update:
“Owing to circumstances not related to the band themselves and entirely outside of the band’s control, ANAAL NATHRAKH have been forced to pull out of their imminent Canadian shows at the 11th hour.
To reiterate – this was not down to the band themselves, and if there was anything that could have been done, believe us we’d have done it. Confirmation of this twist of fate’s dagger only came through 5 hours before we were due to go to the airport.
There is no reason why this should affect any other planned dates – ONLY THOSE IN CANADA. And rest assured, plans will be put in place for alternative Canadian shows as soon as possible.
We offer our sincerest regrets to anyone who was intending to be at the shows, which at the time of writing will be going ahead with the support bands playing at a reduced door price. We are royally pissed off about missing the shows, but sometimes events simply conspire against you. Which will make it all the sweeter when the time comes to make the trip to Canada and both band and fans are able to raise a middle finger to fate and grind its corpse under their heels.”
Reunited thrashers Forbidden have revealed that Mark Hernandez will be behind the kit on their forthcoming European tour. Mark has a wealth of bands he's previously played for including Heathen, Vio-Lence and RE:Ignition amongst others.
Guitarist Craig Locicero states: "Yes, we're all very excited about going over to Europe with Mark Hernandez behind the kit. It took us a while to sort out all of the details, so we apologize for the delay. It was rumoured that Chris Kontos, whom I already have the honor of playing with in SPIRALARMS, was going to be Forbidden's European drummer. But that did not pan out because Chris had other obligations with ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT and the PART TIME CHRISTIANS. So we had to try out some other drummers and Mark was on fire for the gig! He knocked us over with his audition and showed us how good he really is. This guy is going to surprise a lot of people. He shocked all of us and really did his homework.
"I've known Mark a long time after seeing him play with Vio-Lence and Re:Ignition and most recently Heathen so I knew he had some chops. The last thing we would do is put someone onto the Forbidden drum throne who could not handle the job and pressure of filling some mighty large shoes. Obviously, Paul Bostaph and Steve Jacobs would be there if they could, but Paul's in TESTAMENT and Steve is unavailable in the time frame of this tour. So Mark won the job flat-out and he deserves it! So let's show him some love and respect to Mark when he bashing behind the kit with us in Europe. Make him feel welcome!"
