Avulsed has issued the following announcement about presenting the band's new drummer at the upcoming Hellfest 2012:
"After long consideration, Avulsed has finally decided to officially present new drummer Osckar Bravo at Hellfest, this being the best possible opportunity to show all our fans the capabilities of our new band mate.
"There was an initial chance that Riky (ex-drummer) would play at Hellfest in case that we didn't have a drummer ready for it, for which we're very grateful, but since the adaptation of Osckar has been nothing but excellent, the band feels ready to face the challenge of having his official debut at such big event.
"In the meantime, Avulsed has been confirmed to perform as headliners on the next edition of the Repulsion Fest. which will take place in Sevilla (Spain) on 29th of September along with bands like EXTIRPATING THE INFECTED, NO FATE, PURULENT NECROPSYS and DIGGING YOUR TOMB."
If you still haven't seen Osckar in action, you can still watch this video of his first practice with the band below. Further details on the upcoming Hellfest can also be found at this location. More...
Adrenaline Mob and Kill Devil Hill personified the song “Deep in the Heart of Texas” during their San Antonio performance. The stars were big and bright; the members comprising the night’s co-headlined acts are better known for playing with iconic artists such as Pantera, Down, Heaven And Hell, Dio, Disturbed, Avenged Sevenfold, Dream Theater, W.A.S.P, Pissing Razors and Symphony X.
This weekday show hosted by Backstage Live yielded a fraction of the ticket sales compared to the groups’ associated acts. Although both bands featured veterans in the field of heavy metal and progressive rock, they are both new artists. Kill Devil Hill doesn’t release its debut, self-titled CD until the 22nd of this month. New bands usually tour in support slots, but names such as Mike Portnoy, Rex Brown and Vinny Appice aren’t accustomed to that role. Those hip to the groups, mostly Dream Theater fans, expected a night of mind-blowing musicianship, which is what they got with a few added surprises. More...
Following a crushing West Coast tour in February, Pacific Northwestern death unit Theories is preparing to get back out on road next week on another brutal endeavor. Kicking off with a hometown show in Seattle next Saturday, Theories will run through the western half of the country for three weeks crushing audiences alongside many killer local and international acts along the way.
Stated Theories drummer Joe Axler (also of Samothrace, Book of Black Earth, etc.) on the forthcoming tour: "We're about to hit the road again, this time for a leg of the tour with our friends in Ghoul and Toxic Holocaust amongst other shows, and a showcase at Chaos in Tejas. This will be our third tour since we started this band about a year ago. We are very excited and feel privileged to be able to do this much touring on only a demo and our voracity to be on tour."
Following the tour, Theories will complete work on the band's newest studio effort which will be released later this year on a label to be determined. Axler adds: "After the completion of this tour we plan on staying put and finishing writing the full length we have been working on all year. After finding a home for Theories, we plan on releasing this grinder as soon as possible so we can get back to our devotion to the road!" More...
Reigning Queen of Metal, Doro Pesch, has checked-in from her work in the studio to issue the following update:
"The new album will be entitled Raise Your Fist and has been recorded and written in the U.S., Germany, and Scandinavia. Right now we're in the mixing stages and are close to finishing everything. Most important to me are the power hymns 'Raise Your Fist In The Air' and 'Victory,' which will also be available on the forthcoming EP! Both songs have been played live on our last tour and also made last year’s Wacken Open Air shake!
"Raise Your Fist In The Air will also be available in French… which is going to be very interesting. For the diehard fans of German songs like "Für Immer" ['Forever'], there are two songs in the same vein - sensitive and quite dark 'Human Rights' and the very emotional 'Engel' ['Angel']. There are also a lot of fast songs like 'Little Headbanger' and various fist-pumping ones featuring amazing guests like Gus G (OZZY OSBOURNE, FIREWIND) on 'Last Man Standing' which fans will for sure dig live.
"We also have a song that honors the late Ronnie James Dio called 'Hero' and another highlight named 'It Still Hurts' featuring MOTÖRHEAD’s Lemmy Kilmister. The cover artwork has once again been created by British artist Geoffrey Gillespie who is a close friend and companion since he made it into the Guinness Book of World Records for his Triumph And Agony cover as the biggest album cover in the world. Since then, he's done ten covers for us!"
"Raise Your Fist" will be released in North America this coming fall. So hold fans over until then, the upcoming "Raise Your Fist In The Air" EP will be released this summer. Doro also guested on a recent episode of VH1 Classic’s That Metal Show with Billy Duffy and Ian Astbury of The Cult. Watch the full episode at this location.

6. Bearing Witness
10. Infinite Locality
11. Southeast First
12. Conquerors of the Useless
"Confluence" was recorded, mixed and mastered by frequent Ghostlimb/Graf Orlock collaborator (and Comadre guitarist) Jack Shirley at Atomic Garden Studios in East Palo Alto, CA, in March 2012. The cover features the same die-cut "G" insignia seen on the first installment of the trilogy, "Infrastructure." Like much of the best Vitriol Records artwork, it was created by Adam Hunt. Pre-orders are available here.
Ireland's Three Hour Ceasefire will release the band's debut EP "Cry Havoc" through Belfast’s Savour Your Scene Records on CD and digital formats this coming June 2012 with physical distribution in the U.K. through Code7.

Chicago upstarts Jar'd Loose have announced the release of their debut album, "Goes to Purgatory," due for July 10th on Cassette Deck Media. Check out an exclusive stream of Jar'd Loose's "Busted," a track off "Goes to Purgatory," posted today on Stereokiller. The following press release was also issued about the band:
"From a city of musical innovators, Jar'd Loose present the next chapter in their hometown's history of heaviness. Jar'd Loose's sound is all their own -- thoroughly rocking yet left-of-center, totally new yet aligned with the spirit of their musical ancestors, from The Jesus Lizard to Entombed.
"At the core is teeth-clenching momentum -- brutish, hellbound noise-rock driven by Pete and Eva Bialecki's chugging freight train riffs and Phil Hardman's bare bones beats, built for maximum headbanging. Leading the charge is frontman Eddie Gobbo with a voice like no other. Former frontman of The Muzzler, Gobbo holds court with a tormented, raspy punk snarl that's one of a kind -- unhinged and real, spitting lines like 'I'd give my right eye / The left one stays with me / I'll take the land of the blind / There I will become king.'
"Atop this foundation, the band takes startling left turns. Riffs transcend all expectations, making detours into unforeseen realms -- what starts as a fist-banging dirt rock anthem shape-shists into an ebullient refrain or a haunting death rock dirge. It's Jar'd Loose's ability to rock out hellishly then pull the listener into strange new dimensions that makes Goes to Purgatory one of the most exciting debuts to hit the streets this year.
"Goes to Purgatory was recorded and mixed by Pete Grossman (Weekend Nachos, Harm's Way) at Bricktop Recording in Chicago, and mastered by Carl Saff (Unsane, Red Fang) at Saff Mastering in Chicago." More...

Black Sabbath has issued a short "no comment" regarding Bill Ward's latest update about not being part of the reunion shows:
We have decided not to make any detailed comment on Bill's latest statement. There are two sides to every story. We have been working hard at rehearsals making excellent progress after Tony's treatments and we have engaged a substitute drummer for the forthcoming shows. See you at Download.
But actions speak louder than words, and upon visiting the band's official web site, you can see carefully cropped and arranged vintage photos of just three members of the band - Tony, Ozzy, and Geezer; no Bill - on the site's background as well as the photo gallery. (thanks Brooklyn Vegan for pointing that out.)
Update: The removal of Ward from the web site photos was apparently at the request of Ward's attorney. You can read more about that here.

The new, self-titled album, which is the follow up to the band's "Hereditas" EP (reviewed here), was produced by Jean Dolabella of Sepultura and mastered at West West Side. The album contains 15 tracks total.
Stated Desalmado guitarist Bruno Teixeira on the results of their latest output: "I am very happy with this album. I'm pretty sure that it is more varied than anything we've ever done, with production that has that vibe of old recordings, with a live feel to it."
About this song specifically, Teixeira states: "It is a straightforward one, with some influence of thrash metal and hardcore, but maintaining our identity. We have a special guest on that song; Marcus D'Angelo, a great friend and lead singer of Claustrofobia. From the lyrical perspective it follows the same line of thought of the entire album: an utter criticism of religion, which brainwashes people into blind obedience."
