Transitional is the new project of musician producer Kevin Laska (Novatron) and long time Justin K Broadrick and Kevin Martin collaborator Dave Cochrane (Jesu, Grey Machine,…). Their debut "Nothing Real Nothing Absent," offers a rich variety in their approach to sound combining crushing atmospheres through a mixture of electronic ambience, mangling bass lines and distorted epic layers of textured guitar.
While it's not exactly metal, it is heavy and sludgy in an experimental sense. You can check out some sound samples here.

Northern Virginia's ENEMY SOIL will see the reissue of their "Casualties Of Progress" EP later this month via Relapse. This reissue of "Casualties Of Progress," which was previously released on vinyl only, has been remastered and features the original artwork with the addition of liner notes from ENEMY SOIL's Richard Johnson and AGOROPHOBIC NOSEBLEED's Jay Randall. The reissue also features rare bonus tracks including three previously unreleased ENEMY SOIL tracks as well as a cover of NAPALM DEATH's "Unchallenged Hate."
ENEMY SOIL's Johnson recently commented on the reissue: "Working on the reissue of the Casualties Of Progress 7" with Relapse brings back fond memories of all the support they put behind Enemy Soil in the 90s. And here it is finally back in print, on CD for the first time, with bonus tracks to boot. Even the original artwork graces the sleeve." "When I first heard the recording again after Scott Hull was finished with his remaster, I was taken aback at how youthful and primitive it sounded." Johnson adds; "Casualties of Progress is one of the records that Enemy Soil is most identified with, and I'm bloody chuffed that Enemy Soil fans that missed out on it the first time around, or want to hear it again in this new form, have a chance to do so, over a decade after the original release."
The Casualties Of Progress reissue will see a May 27th North American (June 2nd international) release date. Further information on this release, including pre-order options, can be found via the release page.

German hardcore / screamo band Callejon has signed with Nuclear Blast.
The band has posted the following statement about the signing: "Sweat, blood, fuel, traffic jams, sleepless nights, endlessly many phone calls, mails, offers and meetings, contracts in English, German and whatever…to finally find THE label that we want work with in our future. How that came? Three suitcases full of money, five brand new Porsches (white with red tires) inclusive a faked driving license? The rights for all Michaela Schaffrath movies? Definitely not. To be honest, in Nuclear Blast we have found more than just a label. It has been a feeling to visit some old friends who understand you without a word. We are very much looking forward to our album release and, of course, to many more great evenings together with these guys and some drinks. Cheers to an exciting future!"
Callejon has posted five of their songs online, which can be heard here.
Joacim Cans, vocalist of power metal band Hammerfall, recently won the Swedish TV show Körslaget (Clash Of The Choirs). Joacim staged and conducted the songs "Living On A Prayer", "O Fortuna", and "You Shook Me All Night Long".

Hammerfall will be playing June 21st at Montreal's metal festival, Heavy MTL.
Rumours are circulating that Led Zeppelin will be coming to Canada in August to perform four concerts at the world famous Skydome/Rogers Centre. Although no other details have been revealed, there is apparantly no plans for a full North American tour.

All That Remains singer Phil Labonte has checked in with the following:
"We're in Florida workin' on a new RECORD!!! The guys got here on Wednesday and we started pre pro. It didn't take long for the stuff to come together. Jason is a great producer and he has had some really great ideas that we tried out and all most every time they worked out wonderfully. It's looking like it's gonna be 11 new songs. We have a cover in the works but I'm not gonna let the cat out of the bag yet. Don't worry it's a pretty sweet song and it's not some song from the 80's like every other band does. It's a great song that never really got the attention it deserved. So yeah, 11 new ATR originals. Lots of em are kinda short. Which I like cause I have ADD so bad it's crazy. Some stuff is very different from anything we've done before. That makes me pretty happy. We don't wanna be the band that puts out the same disc two or three times in a row. There's some pretty rockin' stuff, some heavy stuff, LOTS of solos, and LOTS N LOTS of double bass. We like to keep Jason feeling like he's more of a marathon runner than playing the drums. So yeah, long n short of it the disc is coming together. Late August or early September it should be in stores n on iTunes. Get into it!"
