Forsaken Recordings has announced the signing of North Carolina's RETURN THE HERO. Return The Hero plays a blend of post-hardcore, metalcore, and pop indie, with rocking sing-a-longs to intense breakdowns. Their debut release, "Where The Willow Grows," will hit stores in September 2008. The band will enter Sleepless Studios with producer Bill Snow (Snapcase) and engineer Drew Fulk (Advent) this month (May 2008). Following the mix, Return The Hero will head into The Basement Studios to master "Where The Willow Grows" with producer Jamie King.
You could say that ENEMY IS US is keeping their native country's metal legacy alive by delivering an explosive mixture of old school Swedish death metal, new school thrash and adding just a touch of hardcore aggression. Their second album, "Venomized," co-produced by veteran Daniel Bergstrand (MESHUGGAH, SOILWORK, IN FLAMES), contains eleven tracks of hook-filled choruses and unforgettable riffs that will surely help to propel ENEMY IS US into the metal spotlight.
ENEMY IS US self-financed the recording of "Venomized" when they found out that their previous label was bandrupt shortly before they were schedule to enter the studio.
Having survived several recent shake-ups which saw some members depart and join the ranks of Germany's top metal bands (Caliban and Deadsoil), SIX REASONS TO KILL has regrouped and returned with an even more massive album entitled, "Another Horizon." Now armed with a new vocalist, Thorsten Polomski, the band is planning a successful followup to their previous Tribunal Records release, "Reborn," which garnered critical acclaim from around the world. "Another Horizon" follows the same destructive path of its predecessor, but with more vocal melody infused into their now distinct "sledgehammer to your face" approach. Along with the unabashedly "metal worship" also comes a socially conscious album dealing with such topics as discrimination, environmental exploitation, racism, war and human rights.
SIX REASONS TO KILL's new album, "Another Horizon," will be in stores in North America on June 10th. You can check out the artwork here.

The following report is courtesy of Andy Coleman from Birminghammail.net:
DEF LEPPARD bassist Rick 'Sav' Savage is not looking his best when I meet him the morning after the band's intimate performance at London's Carling Academy Islington. There were just a few hundred invited guests and competition winners in attendance and Sav says: "It was like the club gigs we did before the debut album came out in 1980."
But Sav adds that he went on stage in some discomfort - and he's still suffering.
"I've been a little under the weather with a kidney infection which leaves me weak," he reveals. "When we came off stage I told the others that I wouldn't want to do that kind of show every night for a living!"
Adds frontman Joe Elliott: "There wasn't room to swing a cat on stage. It was a bit like Manchester United turning up at Wycombe Wanderers.
"Being so close together on stage you hear the sound in a different way. It takes time to adapt."
That's because the band swiftly rose to arena and stadium status - and have never looked back.
"We were never artists that looked to get our music across in an intimate setting," agrees Sav. "We thrive on playing big gigs."

Toxic Holocaust have posted the following message from their fifth day recording their new album "An Overdose Of Death":
"Day Five began with some more bass. We haven't done too much experimenting with the bass sounds, we got a sound we like and kept it going.
Did bass on 3 songs and then switched to guitar. Now with guitars, we have been mixing it up a bit, using different amp combinations and distortions. It's giving a lot of character to each song.
After a short break we recorded vocals for 3 tracks. 'Nuke The Cross' was the first one recorded today, then 'Gravelord' and finally 'Feedback, Blood and Distortion'.
It was getting late by this point (13 1/2 hours in today) so we called it a day. It's starting to actually sound like a record..."

Seattle based progressive thrash metal band, Nevermore, vocalist, Warrel Dane, released his solo record in North America on May 13th. A new video for the track, "Brother," will be shot in the coming weeks with up-and-coming director Max Gutierrez. The clip will be a very dark introspective piece focusing on the relationship between Dane and his brother following the death of their father.
Warrel Dane comments on the record "So here we are finally, the week of release for Praises To The War Machine. It's been a crazy ride since the idea for this record first came about in the back of a tour bus two years ago, as I was bored out of my skull and wanting new music to work on. It's been nothing but a great experience working with Peter Wichers (ex-Soilwork), Dirk Verbeuren (Soilwork) and Matt Wicklund (ex-Himsa) and I must say I feel pretty lucky to have worked with great musicians throughout my career dating all the way back to Sanctuary, and of course Nevermore. I feel fortunate that this record has been so well received and look forward to playing these tunes in a live situation. I hope to see you all soon."
Jordanian dark oriental metallers BILOCATE have unveiled the cover artwork for their forthcoming album, "Sudden Death Syndrome," at this location. The artwork was designed by Dennis Sibeijn, who has previously worked with such bands as DRACONIAN, CHIMAIRA and ABORTED.
Commented vocalist Ramzi Essayed: "During the mixing stage, we were working in parallel together with Dennis on the artwork idea and layout. It's ready now with the magnificent work of Dennis. He truly reflected the album spirit and concepts. A special thanks to him from BILOCATE for his efforts and support."
"Sudden Death Syndrome" was mixed and mastered at Fascination Street Studio in Sweden with producer Jens Bogren (OPETH, KATATONIA, BLOODBATH, AMON AMARTH, SYMPHONY X, PARADISE LOST) More...
Last week, Australia's Beat magazine ran an article on New Jersey's Dillinger Escape Plan, in which guitarist Ben Weinman said he'd once witnessed one of Disturbed's soundchecks and that they were "practicing where they were going to walk and when they were going to put their leg up on the monitor and pose. That was weird for us. There are times where I don't even know where I am."
Disturbed guitarist Dan Donegan responded to Weinman's statements in an interivew with MTV.com. "I never even remember meeting these guys, and I think we know anybody that's even in the room during our soundchecks, so that's shocking to me, because I would think that we would have met them if they were standing there during our soundcheck," Donegan said. "That's funny. When we do a bigger production, there may be certain lighting cues for certain highlights of the show, but I wouldn't call it 'posing,' just a cue for our lighting guy, so he can add more drama to the set. If [Dillinger] sold some records, and were at the level we're at, maybe they'd see that, for bands like Kiss and Metallica, there are certain highlight points during a set that you want to focus on. If I'm going to go over to one spot and do a guitar solo, my lighting guy may need to know that, so he can focus in on that.
"If that's posing, then so be it," the guitarist continued. "To me, I don't think we talk about when we're going to put our foot up on a monitor. That's just silly. It's a natural thing we do. Those guys can say whatever they want. If that's supposed to be a jab at us, am I offended? I don't give a shit. If they're saying it because they're haters, why? Because we sell millions of records and lots of tickets? It sounds more like jealousy to me."

The following press release has been announced:
When it was announced in late 2007 that the young, new Thrash sensation BONDED BY BLOOD were set to record their debut album with producer Michael Rosen, the band and fans alike were understandably excited. Having previously worked with thrash legends such as TESTAMENT and VIO-LENCE, ROSEN was an obvious choice for producing the fast-rising thrashers' furious debut album, "Feed The Beast".
Unbeknownst to many, the recording sessions with el Rosen were scrapped and the band opted to re-record the album with a different studio and producer.
BONDED BY BLOOD vocalist Jose "Aladdin" Barrales explains what happened and why they chose to re-record "Feed The Beast": "It was weird... Every time we got in the studio, everything sounded good, but there were a lot of problems where we clashed... He kept bringing up Green Day and bands like that, that we should sound a little bit more like. I mean, I have nothing against those bands, it's just, it's not us."
Barrales continues, "It was lacking energy. It was lacking a lot of stuff really, it just wasn't the same, it wasn't our songs... There were a lot of essential songs like 'Immortal Life' and 'Feed The Beast' that we were really used to and we really liked the way they were, and he really changed a lot of stuff that we really didn't like."

IN THIS MOMENT have issued the following update:
"We have received a ton of messages in response to our Ozzfest 2008 announcement, there have been lots of questions and some confusion regarding Ozzfest 2008 and we feel that they need to be addressed. First off everyone is asking if Ozzfest 2008 is a one day show or if its a full tour, the press release states that it is a ONE DAY destination event, so yes everyone Ozzfest this year is ONE DAY August 9th in Dallas Texas. The fact that it will only be one day this year seems to have really pissed off a lot of people who don't live in Texas, we understand being disappointed about something like this because Ozzfest has become something alot of people have come to count on every year, it's ok to be disappointed, we get it, we would love to tour the whole country with this amazing package too, but guess what.....its only one show this year so we have to deal with it. The people who are bashing Ozzy and Sharon with words like "betrayed" or "fucked over" are way out of line. Ozzy and Sharon created this innovative festival that gave metal and rock lovers across the U.S. a chance to see a bunch of awesome bands each year, they also gave numerous underground bands a chance to play in front of thousands of people who otherwise would have never known about them, they blazed the trail for every other hard rock/metal festival out there today and they even made it free last year, people should show a little respect. Ozzy has been on tour for 11 months, if he decides not to do a full Ozzfest tour this year that's his business. Ozzy and Sharon have given In This Moment some amazing opportunities over the last 2 years and we have nothing but the utmost respect for them and what they do . That being said please stop sending messages bashing Ozzfest or the Osbournes, we won't post them, so it's a waste of your time. We love our fans and we know some of you are disappointed so let me assure you, we will be touring our asses off starting in September and we will be coming to your town. Hang tight, we love you all, see you soon."
James Hetfield recently gave an interview to RollingStone. Some excerpts from the interview can be found below:
Q: What was the idea behind making this album?
Hetfield: "The direction is embracing our past in the now. We know what we know. It’s hard to erase that. But to strip it down again, and get back to why we’re doing this? Why did we write songs that way? The template was Master of Puppets and the strength of that record. How can we do that now?"
Q. Does the new Metallica album have a title yet?
Hetfield: It’s got a title and we’re still playing with it to see if we like it. But I guess the album’s done. It’s still got to be mixed. All the singing, all the recording is pretty much done. And we’re pleased with it.
