We will make various episodes, and you, the fans, get to vote what you want to see/know about the band. The first episode will be about drums. For those interested, our new drummer, Dan Wilding, will shoot a video of himself playing one of the following three songs: 'The Chondrin Enigma', 'Gestated Rabidity' and 'The Saw and The Carnage Done'. Dan will then go through the song chosen by the fans and explain the techniques he uses. Sweden’s KHOMA (formerly known as KOMA) have issued the following update:
"Just a quick update. The summer is looking quite calm at the moment. We're gonna focus on writing new songs and trying to record. Right now everyone is working on ideas, and we have a few songs that are shaping up. So, we will try to keep you updated as they come to life, and post some new lyrics and the ideas behind it here.
"Hopefully we can play a few shows late summer, but nothing is set yet. If you have any ideas of nice places to go - let us know."
Currently busy recording the follow-up to 2005's highly acclaimed "Doomsday Machine" album, ARCH ENEMY found the time to deliver you another update on the recording process. Vocalist Angela Gossow has just finished tracking her vocals and reports in with her personal resume of the recordings so far:
"Hells yeah, I am done with my vocals! I recorded 14 songs in total, faster then ever. Plenty of first takes there, hardly any double vocals, just straight-up into the microphone.
"I experimented quite a bit with doubling vocal lines on the last album, which I now feel kind of took personality and vocal attack away. So this time it's the classic, one-vocal-track, no-frills, no-effects approach. More...
CLUTCH has issued the following update:
"Due to sickness in the band, [last night's] performance at Bogart's in Cincinnati has been postponed until July 27th. Ticketholders should contact the point of purchase regarding refunds. System of a Down bassist Shavo Odadjian has been tapped to direct the first video from the upcoming record from Bad Brains. The record is titled Build a Nation and is due out June 26, 2007. Shavo adds:
"I've been a fan of the Brains ever since I can remember. They are iconic pioneers of punk, not just the music but the attitude. The energy that comes off their stage is like no other. HR's performances have effected not only my band, but almost every heavy band in our era. Another major inspiration is their message of trying to promote righteousness and living the righteous way. I am going to rock this video for the Brains and try to capture their intense energy. It's a big responsibility... I'm honored."

SHAAMAN (as the band was known prior to its split) released its sophomore album, "Reason", in May 2005 via AFM Records. The 10-song follow-up to 2002's "Ritual" was mixed and mastered at Heaven's Gate Studios in Wolfsburg, Germany with producer Sascha Paeth, who previously worked with such acts as KAMELOT, EDGUY, RHAPSODY and FREEDOM CALL. According to Nocturnal Art Productions, Norwegian extreme metallers MANNGARD have set "European Cowards" as the title of their sophomore album, due on August 27. The CD was recorded at Lydriket studios.
Commented the band: "The sessions in Lydriket has been most successful, and the band has knocked out and captured 10 songs over three days. All songs have been recorded live in studio, capturing an immense stage-like energy from the band.
"The album [is] turn[ing] out much more thrash metal-y than we had anticipated. This is possibly a result of the large amounts of beer consumed during the sessions. Or the thrashy material could be what has inspired this excessive gluttony. We are honestly not sure. Either way, a lot of beer has been consumed, and we stumble out with our hands on one hell of a thrash metal monster, with the characteristic MANNGARD twists, of course!!"
California's OTEP has posted another new track, entitled "March of the Martyrs", on its MySpace page. The song comes off the group's long-awaited third full-length album, "The Ascension", due later in the year. The CD was recorded in New Orleans over the course of several months with Grammy-winning producer Dave Fortman (EVANESCENCE, MUDVAYNE).
OTEP recently parted ways with guitarist Karma Cheema (ex-AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE). His replacement is a guitarist presently only known by his first name: Aaron.
OTEP has rejected persistent rumors that the band has been dropped by Capitol Records as a result of the recently announced merger of Capitol and Virgin Records into the Capitol Music Group.
Sundsvall, Sweden-based death metallers IN BATTLE have pushed back the projected release date of their fourth album, "Kingdom of Fear" (Nocturnal Art Productions/Candlelight Records), to August 27 from the previously announced June 25. The CD contains "11 songs of raw trashy death metal," according to a press release. Two video clips for the album have already been filmed: "Kingdom of Fear" and "The Dead Shall See".
IN BATTLE's new album will honor the memory of the group's former drummer, Otto Wiklund, who passed away last August. Wiklund appeared on IN BATTLE's first two albums — "Lost in the Shadows Gray" (1997) and "The Rage of the Northmen" (1998) — and was also the session drummer for SETHERIAL, with whom he recorded the "Lords of the Nightrealm" album (1997).

DETONATION recently completed a succesful U.K. tour and is getting ready to play shows in the Netherlands in support of its latest effort, "Emission Phase" (released April 30). The group states, "The first reviews are popping up on the Internet, and they are very very positive! We're very glad and very excited to see that so far the response is fucking great!"

Ronen Tsumer reports for Ynet News.com: It seems that the first peaceful dialogue to follow the Second Lebanon War comes out of the music scene. Two heavy metal bands, one Israeli and the other Lebanese, met online and joined forces to perform a new song, “Everything We Are”.
"Obviously, the song deals with the last war between Israel and Lebanon, and its implications. It speaks about the silent majority around the world that does nothing while extremists spread their ideals of hatred and violence," Kfir Gov, leader of the Israeli band, “Seek Irony” told Ynet.
Rab, the Lebanese lead vocalist of “Blood Ink”, and his family reside in northern Lebanon in an area that was mostly outside of the range of the fighting.
"I’ve been listening to this music for as long as I can remember," Rab, the 23-year-old Christian singer, told Ynet in an email interview.
"The story my family tells is that my sister, who is a metal fan, used to put the headphones on my ears when I was just a month old. She used to put me to sleep listening to 'The Wall' by Pink Floyd.
“I somehow grew up in this atmosphere, at age 14, I was already listening to the Scorpions and Aerosmith. Then I discovered the harder styles, and it went on,” Rab said.
The relationship between the two bands started before the war broke, on myspace.com.
"They sent us a message saying 'Good Luck, Keep it up! From your neighbors in Lebanon," says Kfir.
"We thought that was really cool of them and we were excited to find out that there was a metal band in Lebanon that sounded really good, so we replied to their message saying, 'Thanks a lot, stay in touch, from your neighbors in Israel.' We stayed in touch and when the war broke out we became close because we used to chat on instant messenger everyday."
Didn't it strike you as odd that a Lebanese band had contacted you?
"At the beginning it was really odd and it really caught us by surprise because we had no clue that there was a metal scene in Lebanon. It was awesome to find out there's a whole underground scene going on there, just like here in Israel, with thousands of kids wearing Metallica and Pantera t-shirts, that simply enjoy the music, and that there are Lebanese bands that really kick ass."
"The metal scene in Lebanon is still insignificant, but many bands are working hard to make it more popular. It is a challenge mainly because of the cultural diversity in Lebanon. This will improve with proper encouragement and big scale projects to promote these underground bands and push small bands to get better," says Rab.
If it would be made possible, would you go on a joint European tour with 'Seek Irony'?
Rab: "Definitely, I’m sure it would make a hell of show."
Kfir: "In fact, when we started this whole thing, the idea was to try and put together a joint show somewhere neutral or maybe have the two bands perform at the same time in each country. Very quickly we found out about the impossible logistics involved in something like this. Only then, we started thinking about the song."

Launch Radio Networks reports: RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE guitarist Tom Morello has added to his solo touring schedule as his political folk alter ego, THE NIGHTWATCHMAN. In addition to the dates he's already announced, Morello has booked a number of new shows in July, starting on the 10th in Detroit. Morello will also perform with RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE this summer, but told Launch that touring on his own does have its advantages. "Say it comes to playing a benefit show, like, if I want to play — if we're approached by some worthy cause to play a benefit show in some other town," he said. "If it's a rock band, it's not easy to do, you know. You have to have a band meeting and decide to do it. You have to coordinate schedules and get a tour manager and a lighting rig and roadies and all that. And, you know, if someone asked me to play that show, I just pick up my guitar and I get on a plane, and I'm there to play it."
Morello's debut disc as THE NIGHTWATCHMAN, "One Man Revolution", arrived in stores on April 24.
The guitarist has a full schedule of solo shows lined up for this spring and summer, including headlining gigs and opening stints for BEN HARPER.
RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE has confirmed four dates on the Rock The Bells tour, in late July in New York City and mid-August in California. The reactivated group has reportedly scheduled a concert in East Troy, Wisconsin on August 24, but there's been no official word on any more RAGE shows.
Newly confirmed NIGHTWATCHMAN tour dates:
July 10 - Detroit, MI - The Shelter
July 11 - Chicago, IL - Schubas Tavern
July 13 - Minneapolis, MN - 7th St. Entry
July 15 - Denver, CO - Larimer Lounge
July 17 - Portland, OR - Doug Fir Lounge
July 18 - Seattle, WA - Crocodile Café
July 20 - San Francisco, CA - Swedish Hall
July 21 - Los Angeles, CA - The Troubadour
NINE INCH NAILS mastermind Trent Reznor has posted the following message on the band's official web site:
"As the climate grows more and more desperate for record labels, their answer to their mostly self-inflicted wounds seems to be to screw the consumer over even more. A couple of examples that quickly come to mind:
- The ABSURD retail pricing of 'Year Zero' in Australia. Shame on you, UMG. 'Year Zero' is selling for $34.99 Australian dollars ($29.10 US). No wonder people steal music. AVRIL LAVIGNE's record in the same store was $21.99 ($18.21 US).
"By the way, when I asked a label rep about this his response was: 'It's because we know you have a real core audience that will pay whatever it costs when you put something out — you know, true fans. It's the pop stuff we have to discount to get people to buy.' So... I guess as a reward for being a 'true fan' you get ripped off.
- The dreaded EURO maxi-single. Nothing but a consumer rip-off that I've been talked into my whole career. No more.
"The point is, I am trying my best to make sure the music and items NIN puts in the marketplace have value, substance and are worth you considering purchasing. I am not allowing Capital G to be repackaged into several configurations that result in you getting ripped off.
"We are planning a full-length remix collection of substance that will be announced soon."
NINE INCH NAILS' new album, "Year Zero", debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard album chart, selling 187,000 copies in its first week of release. The group's previous effort, 2005's "With Teeth", moved 272,000 copies.
NINE INCH NAILS will visit Japan later this month. North American tour plans are still to be announced.
Obituary guitarist Allen West has been jailed for undisclosed offences. He is not expected to be free until next February, but remains an official member of the band, who are currently touring and recording without him.
Rumour has it he was arrested for drunk driving, which reportedly is his fifth arrest for DUI.
ONESIDEZERO will headline the "Amplify Your Voice Against Genocide" benefit concert June 9th, 2007 at the El Rey Theater in Los Angeles with support from Red Snow, Slow Motion Reign and Vokee featuring former members of The Apex Theory. All proceeds from the show will go to the Save Darfur Coalition (www.savedarfur.org).
"Just like our Armenian Genocide, the Holocaust, the Native Americans discovered and conquered, Rwanda, and now a current genocide in Darfur, Sudan. We gather together to amplify our voices against genocide," says Onesidezero guitarist Levon Sultanian. "I am the offspring of martyrs of a genocide perpetrated 92 years ago. I bear testimony to the atrocities imposed upon my people. I can empathize with others in the same position. That is why I participate in the Darfur demonstrations, and I do so through my music."
ONESIDEZERO is gearing up for the release of their Ulrich Wild (Static-X, Stabbing Westward, Taproot) produced sophomore album, which is slated for June 5th, 2007 release by Corporate Punishment.
"The last 5 to 6 years have been some of the most insane and most amazing times of my life. Onesidezero as a band have grown so much together in this time. We went through the ups and downs of life and after some new demos under our belts started the rebuilding process of Onesidezero," says Sultanian. "It was really exciting to bring in all these news songs into th e recording studio after working on them at home and at rehearsal for over a year. Hope everyone digs them as much as we do!"
The band released their Maverick Records debut Is This Room Getting Smaller in 2001, which produced Active Rock singles "Instead Laugh" and "New World Order". Subsequent US tours with Incubus, 311, Soulfly, Soil and Static-X made them an instant fan favorite.
The band is currently previewing two new tracks on the group's MySpace account for fans to preview material from their forthcoming new album.
