After Tim Lambesis was arrested for allegedly attempting to hire an undercover officer to murder his wife, the fate of the upcoming As I Lay Dying/Killswitch Engage tour was up in the air. As I Lay Dying has now issued the following announcement about officially canceling the run:
"In light of recent events, As I Lay Dying will unfortunately not be taking part in the upcoming tour with Killswitch Engage.
"Given the circumstances, we feel that it is best for the band to be off the road while the current situation gets sorted. We'd like to thank all of our fans for their ongoing support at this difficult time.
"-Jordan, Nick, Phil, and Josh."

Hells Headbangers has revealed August 20th as the international release date for Front Beast's "Demon Ways of Sorcery." The following press release was issued about the band:
"Since the late '90s, Germany's Front Beast has been lurking in the darkest corners of the black metal underground. Helmed by mainman Avenger, Front Beast has stayed committed to a pure 'n' proud vision, honoring the ancient ways with a prolific stream of demos and split releases. Now, Front Beast is prepared to storm with menace with their second album (and first for Hells Headbangers), Demon Ways of Sorcery.
"Fittingly titled, Demon Ways of Sorcery is trend-free black metal of an ancient, mystical hue: damp dungeon atmosphere, crude yet commanding execution, thirsty 'n' miserable vocals, an aura of hideousness and unhealth, and an unselfconscious obeisance of time-honored heavy metal values. When the moonlight calls...obey the Demon Ways of Sorcery!"
The track listing is as follows:
1. Bearer of Satan's Flame
2. Heathen Night
3. Broken Seal of White Light
4. Demon Ways of Sorcery
5. Blackness Into Eternity
6. Filling Skulls With Angels Blood
7. Hidden Black Wisdom

Regarding the new album, Arckanum mastermind Shamaatae said: "This album is a dedication to the flaming giant-wolf, son of Loki; created from the Chaos-fires of Múspellsheimr. His victorious name is Fenrir, also called Tungls Tjúgari! Hail Fenrir!"

This year marks 15 years of Obscene Extreme and to celebrate the occasion the organizers of the festival decided to go all out in extreme style by hosting an additional three festivals in three additional continents.
Over the last few months Obscene Extreme has appeared in Mexico City - Mexico, Jakarta - Indonesia, and Melbourne - Australia. There has been much success but also some failures and after some time at home to reflect on the adventure the man behind the whole idea, Curby, has spoken about the experience on the run up to the final Obscene Extreme Festival in Czech Republic this July:
"Hello freaks!!! This is Curby/obscene... I believe that you our loyal OEF fans have followed us on our tour so you probably know what happened but for those who haven't I would like to sum up our first ever OEF World tour. When I was pondering over our plans for the World tour I was really full of enthusiasm (and actually I still am). I hoped for something new but our first world volume was a really tough game, not only financially but also emotionally. It's very difficult to understand how big differences are between Europe, Mexico and Indonesia... I knew it would be different, but so much? What can you do if you pay everything in advance as in Mexico and people don't work at all? Not much... when you read my statements for every continent, you`ll understand me... More...

Erie, Pennsylvania-based Extinction Protocol will release debut album "Aeonic Obliteration" via NYC label P2, and while the album was initially slated to see release this week, a manufacturing debacle held things up just a bit, making the new street date May 28th.

"Extinction Protocol merges modern groove/slam tactics with primal, classic death metal vitality, bridging the most schizophrenic old-school riffage with overpowering breakdowns. Their debut album, Aeonic Obliteration lyrically scrutinizes the greed and corruption of mankind thus concluding humanity’s eventual downfall due to genetic testing and world altering events.
"With nine devastating songs packed into a nearly thirty-three minute event horizon, Aeonic Obliteration features stellar production values courtesy of Ivan at Anthropocide Studios (Abominable Putridity) and full-color cosmic destruction ala JoeJesus of DeviantArt. Pre-orders for Aeonic Obliteration can now be placed at this location." More...

The Black Dahlia Murder's brand new album, "Everblack," will be released in less than a month. The band has partnered with Revolver Magazine to stream another song from the album - listen to "Rape in Hatred by Vines of Thorn," an ode to the movie Evil Dead, via Revolvermag.com or in the player below.
In an article previously published on Bloody-Disgusting.com, Strnad recalled the impact of the movie: "I remember the first time I saw Evil Dead… it was at my friend's birthday party in 7th grade. It was recommended by the same older sister that had gotten us all into punk and heavy metal music… so we knew we were in for the real deal. The movie scared the unholy 13 year old shit out of us… we were terrified. I remember the possessions really affecting me… the way the people would contort and writhe was disturbing. The possessed had that awful way that they sounded when they spoke and howled… pretty insane as well. The vine rape scene was intense… I love the idea of the forest coming alive… so much so that I wrote a song about it many years later."
The track listing for "Everblack" is:
1. In Hell Is Where She Waits for Me
2. Goat of Departure
3. Into the Everblack
4. Raped in Hatred by Vines of Thorn
5. Phantom Limb Masturbation
7. Blood Mine

Chimaira has debuted a brand new single called "All That's Left is Blood," taken from the upcoming new LP "Crown Of Phantoms." Check it out below.
Vocalist Mark Hunter weighs in on the single: "'All That’s Left is Blood' is an exercise in musical evisceration. One almost feels guilty for screaming along to such audio violence. Here, Werstler’s soloing lays a daring fluidity over the riot-inciting main riff. It’s immediately recognizable as being another classic Chimaira track, trademarked territory yet radical with growth."
Recently reunited hardcore faction Left For Dead has not only confirmed more upcoming live appearances, but will also be releasing new material for the first time in nearly two decades. The following press release was issued about the band:
"In their brief but brutal two year existence, Hamilton, Ontario-based Left For Dead would prove to bear one of the most aptly-chosen monikers ever, the hatred and energy of their live shows and string of iconic ‘90s punk/hardcore releases still to this day considered legendarily heavy in some circles.
"Raging with unrest and revenge upon political and governmental bodies as well as meaningless and apathetic members of society in general, the band’s unhinged, blasting anthems infected the scene through split releases with Chokehold, Acrid and Ochre, eventually contained on the Splitting Heads discography No Idea Records released in 1998 following the band’s demise the previous year.
"Members of the band would form countless bands following LFD, most notably Haymaker, The Swarm, the groundbreaking Cursed, and the still-active outfits Burning Love and Pick Your Side. More...
Frostwork, the ambient black metal solo project of vocalist Dagon (Heathen Deity, Thornloand) has signed with Ukem Records for the release of a split album with the label’s other new signing, Cruelty's Heart. The album is slated for release in early 2014. The following press release was also issued about Frostwork:
"A founding member of Heathen Deity, one of the UK’s longest serving black metal bands, frontman Dagon started working on Frostwork in 2007, seeing it as a way to give voice to his own visions and ideas which did not necessarily fit in with the old school black metal style of Heathen Deity.
"With the release of 2008’s 'The Rites of Winter: The First Storm' demo, it was clear right from the start that Frostwork would take the coldness and misanthropy of Black Metal, and combine it with themes from nature and folklore to create a sound that epitomised both the beauty and the harsh reality that nature can sometimes manifest. The release of the debut full-length album ‘Lore of Winter – Ealdspell’ in November 2012 on Wodfreca Records confirmed that Frostwork was much more than a side project, and that Dagon was fully committed to developing his solo work much further." France's avantgarde black metal outfit Glorior Belli has inked a worldwide record deal with Agonia Records. The band's fifth full-length album, and successor to "The Great Southern Darkness" from 2011 (reviewed here), is set to be released in the fall of 2013. Agonia comments:
"Consequently climbing the ladder of innovation and artistic development, the French quartet managed to work out a very own sound and view in the often stiff frames found within the black metal genre. Descriptions such as 'Avant-garde black metal bluesmen' (Pitchfork) or 'bluesy doom-sludge' (Metal Sucks) are only the two sides of the same coin, that will reveal a new flip this autumn." More...

2013 marks the ten-year anniversary for Mouth of the Architect, and the band will be releasing the "Dawning" album on June 25th. Today the band reveals another song off the release: check out "How Will This End" via Lambgoat.com or in the player below. The following press release was also issued about the band:
"While many have anticipated the apocalypse in 2012, MOTA has been accurately predicting and creating the soundtrack for such a disaster since 2003. There is perhaps no better way to celebrate such a milestone than by releasing a new face melting full-length record, and MOTA has never failed in that regard.
"The current lineup consists of drummer Dave Mann, guitarists and vocalists Steve Brooks and Kevin Schindel, keyboardist and vocalist Jason Watkins, and bassist Evan Danielson. The band plans to celebrate its 'most glorious birthday' by releasing a psychedelic-tinged sludge-rock masterpiece.
"Remaining under the long time label support of Translation Loss Records, their new album Dawning bludgeons its way to the top of their long catalog of doom rock greatness. These dudes last proved their heavy-metallic weight in gold when they made it through a volcanic eruption to play the Roadburn Festival on their 2010 European tour in support of 'The Violence Beneath.' This year these well-worn road veterans plan on bringing their incredibly loud and extremely hairy brand of post-metal to a venue near you in support of Dawning. Of course, you have to live in the northern hemisphere to get your chance to witness this rock 'n roll spectacle.
"In support of Dawning, Mouth of the Architect will be touring this summer with Intronaut and Scale the Summit. The Tour stars June 5th in Seattle, WA and runs through July 6th in Hollywood, CA. A complete list of dates can be found below." More...
I personally find the idea of putting people on a pedestal to be incredibly naive and childish. At some point, whoever you idolize as being perfect will turn out to have some sort of horrible character flaws that you'll never be able to forgive. People are human, and with that comes not being perfect. Hence why I'm able to say that I don't mind somebody's offstage behavior as much as I do the actual music. In the same way, I don't care about lyrical themes that embrace politics that I disagree with. More...

This year features Venom, Ihsahn, Down, Pig Destroyer, and dozens of other noteworthy acts. For the past few years, MDF has been documented by filmmaker David Hall. He is preparing to release the final chapter of his MDF film trilogy just in time for this year’s festival. The Old Bridge Metal Militia, credited with jump starting the metal community of New Jersey by opening their hearts and doors to the bands we old timers loved in our youth, held one of the most brilliant concerts to directly benefit the victims of Hurricane Sandy, the superstorm which ripped through the Jersey shore last year. Many people still suffer from that devastating storm, but to have the metal community be credited with assisting those in need was an honor to be part. Shortly after the event, it was revealed that through ticket sales and raffle sales, the event raised over $40,000 for the cause - a staggering number for the sold out event that housed 1,500 people.
I sprung for the VIP experience, for the opportunity to meet and talk with some of my idols like Dee Snider, John & Mark Gallagher, Joe Hasselvander, Mark Tornillo, Robb Reiner, David Rock Feinstein, Carl Canedy, AJ Pero, Eddie Ojeda was just too hard to pass up. The 2.5 hour drive from my safe zone in Connecticut was filed with a playlist featuring such classics as “Under the Blade,” “Take Control,” “Let Them Eat Metal” and “Metal On Metal,” and as good fortune would have it, I heard them all live. Now Or Never was formed in 2012 when ex-Pretty Maids guitarist Ricky Marx hooked up with drummer Fabian Ranzoni. Quickly after, they were joined by long time friends, vocalist Jo Amore (Nightmare) and former Pretty Maids bassist Kenn Jackson. The band entered into Peek Studios in Southern France with producer Pat Liotard to record the debut self-titled release.
The band's sound is an exciting convergence of hard rock and metal with a modern kick - complete with power, energy and mature songwriting. The mix of the album was finished just days ago and Metal Underground is the first to present the world with the exclusive premiere of the new track "Reach Out (For The Sky)."
Marx provided some detail on the song: "The song is about life and how you live on a daily basis, where nothing comes on a plate. You need to work it out on your own to make things happen. I wrote part of it in Denmark when I was at Kenn's place (after a 'mega liquid' night) and the rest at Jo's place while we were working on the vocal melodies. Ranzo wrote most of the lyrics on the album, and I wrote the rest, like 'Brothers' and 'Something's Missing' (song and lyrics were written in half a day at Joe's with an acoustic guitar)."
Marx also commented on the band: "The important thing in this band is that there is great cohesion and everyone is always a good mood. There are no egos, and that is very important for me. We've all been there already, recorded, played everywhere and I tell u, it is so nice to play and enjoy real friendships!"
He went on to talk about working with producer Pat Liotard: "Working with Pat was amazing, creative, nice....he is a good musician and pro. I think we managed to get something new out of Jo [Amore] and a good overall musical print. We where big during the 80's and 90's for some of us...some still now and we are so willing to give a full blast!" More...
