Spencer Seim, the man who serves as the feral axe shredder of Hella and the skins man of The Advantage, will be dropping his new album on August 19th under the nom de guerre of sBACH entitled sBACH on Suicide Squeeze Records. After being backed up into a corner, Mr. Seim concurred to leaking three tracks from this soon to be renowned opus on his MySpace page.
The label describes the album:
"'sBACH' by sBACH is a frenetic mélange akin to the collective sights, sounds and sugar rushes in the heads of an entire elementary school being locked into a Chuck E. Cheese franchise while having to subside on an all you can eat buffet of Fun Dip and Pixie Stix as the animatronic band dishes out phosphorescent doom riffs while running amok with the blips and bleeps.
"Taking cues from the choppy spazz-math of Hella and the 8 bit Nintendo cacophony of The Advantage, Seim utilizes the trademarks steez and proclivities of his two musical ventures to create a new one which morphs into a kitschy, stoner rock fueled archfiend chock full of bastardized jazz rhythms and chicken scratch electronica. With the grating jingles and chimes of an explosion at a pinball machine factory and the caffeinated scour of just about any song that features Seim's vivid musical talent, sBACH will fray the senses and leave you begging for more."
In addition to sampling the MySpace songs, you can download track 5 from "Tripwire" here.

Guns N' Roses will release their collection of Greatest Hits in the U.K. on June 2nd. The album has previously sold over four million copies.
This will likely not sit well with members of the band, past and present, since when the album was originally released four years ago, Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagen all tried to prevent its release.
Whilst Metallica will be playing select festival and a few European dates this summer, drummer Lars Ulrich has confirmed that the band will begin a full tour in October in support of their as yet untitled forthcoming album (due for a September release). More details are expected to be announced soon.

Guitarist Eric Peterson says of the video shoott: “We’re getting ready to shoot a video this weekend with director Thomas Mignone, and we’re going for a twist on ‘More Than Meets The Eye’, where things appear one way, then turn out something different. We’re filming it all on green screen and going for the ‘300’ look. The whole band very excited about the video.”

Paradise Lost is scheduled to play the Kentish Town Forum in London on September 19. They'll be supported by Anathema and My Dying Bride at this 20th anniversary show.
As previously reported, Paradise Lost recently posted four new tracks from the upcoming PARADISE LOST DVD, "The Anatomy Of Melancholy" on MySpacethier MySpace page. The tracks were recorded at the Koko club in London on April 12, 2007. The audio was mixed by producer Jens Bogren, who has previously worked with artists such as OPETH, SOILWORK and KATATONIA.
Charlotte based indie label Forgotten Empire Records (home to The Grasshopper Lies Heavy, Day Without Dawn, among others) has just launched a series of e-cards online in support of their recent and upcoming releases.
These include Portland, Oregon's Ninth Moon Black, fresh off sharing the stage with the likes of doom giants Middian and Indian as well as label mates Blackwaves from Germany. Ninth Moon Black push the progressive ambient genre with dropped guitars that go from metal-induced to eerily slow and delayed, drum beats that serve to hold the whole structure of sound up with double-kicked metal parts or even trip-hop-influenced loops, spacey synthesizers that add epic strings, retro synth lines, and experimenting into noise, a loud bass that rumbles below every track, never venturing too far from the lower strings, and unsettling movie audio samples that surface from time to time as the only human voice that is heard, communicating a feeling of desperation.
"Boston's Voyager" is a self-titled EP clocking just over 32 minutes of sparse, emotional, melodic, desperate and always punishing music. Fans of Mare, Old Man Gloom and ISIS should take note.
Also available in it's full is a split cd, consisting of Scottish instrumentalists Fire on the Horizon and North Carolina's From Oceans to Autumn. Fire on the Horizon has an amazingly dense, thoughtful sound slow moving sound. Focusing on textures of ethereal guitar melodies, their music has often been compared with Cult of Luna, Mono or This Will Destroy. From slow paced riffs to bone crushing rhythms, ambient interludes and beautiful melodies, From Oceans To Autumn combines experimental metal and psychedelic rock with a spaced out feeling of weightlessness and droned-out atmospheres.
DEITY DOWN RECORDS and Breda, Netherlands based metalcore outfit DARK INTENTIONS have announced they've signed an agreement in order to release the band's debut full length. Two samples of the forthcoming record have been posted on the band's MySpace page.
The album, recorded at the Artsounds Studio in Belgium with STEFAN VAN NEERVEN of BORN FROM PAIN fame in the producer's chair will go by the title "DESTINED TO BURN". It contains 11 tracks and will be unleashed upon mankind in June of 2008. The mastering job is confirmed to take place at ALAN DOUCHES' WEST WEST SIDE MUSIC Studio in the USA. Track listing and artwork will be revealed at a later time, along with a definitive release date.
Theo (guitars), Victor (drums), Martijn (vocals) and Jakob (bass) already released a mini CD, "REMORSE WILL DIE TODAY" through Pure & Simple Records in 2005 and a demo a year prior to the mini. Their style of music gradually evolved into a more modern version of 1980's and 1990's NY hardcore with slight thrash and death influences, resulting in hard-hitting, heavy yet compact songs.
Self proclaimed redneck metal band Sloburn has signed a deal with Dark Harvest Records. Sloburn's debut release is set for an October 2008 release. Dark harvest commented on the signing: "All of us here at Dark Harvest Records are proud to have Sloburn as part of the dhr family. Sloburn is a band who puts on a hell of show and truly represents the southern metal scene."

Ron Thal, aka Bumblefoot, is treating his fans new and old to a bit of free music before his new album, “Abnormal,” is released to the public for sale, by offering the title track free for download. As with his previous albums Thal will be self-releasing “Abnormal” online. “I never went along with the way the music industry did things, and have always been rebelliously against it, spouting off how the system doesn't work, and how bands should be DIY and make it just about the music and the fans. 10 years ago I was giving away songs on Napster and releasing my own albums, selling them online. 10 years later, I still do it and still stand by it - fuck the business, connect directly with the fans.”
The recording and creative process has also been a very fresh experience, as Thal has been making videos of the recording process and posting them online, running contests to include backing singers to perform on the album, and giving progress reports on his forums to keep everyone there with him while the album was coming together. “It's been great being able to share the experience as it happens. It'll be another month before the CD is manufactured - until then, I wanna give away a little taste. Download it, share it, delete it, it's yours to do as you wish.”
“Abnormal”, the follow-up to Thal’s previous offering “Normal”, is a hard rock album flavored with a light-hearted mix of different styles and genres, with catchy hooks and blistering guitar work. When asked about the new project, Thal had the following to say: “It was October last year, I was about to fly into a fucking rage, went to go crash out at the studio, and all these songs just started flying out of my head. Spent the next few months recording drums, bass, guitars, vocals, opera singers and tuba players. Some people heard it and said it reminds them of the Sex Pistols with a little Beatles/Queen vibe to it. Didn't have a plan, just did what I felt, and in the end this is what I got.”
With recording completed and finishing touches being added to the tracks and art work, “Abnormal” will be ready for release In early June, with the free track available for download Monday May 19th, 2008. See www.bumblefoot.com for more information. Along with CD’s being available for purchase, the tracks will be available for download on iTunes, and a very special limited edition Fan Pack will be available for diehard fans that want something a bit different in a limited quantity. The CD will be available at www.cdbaby.com , www.amazon.com as well as Bumblefoot’s own artist-run partner Bald Freak Music (www.baldfreak.com).

Masachist guitarist Thrufel has issued the following update:
"We are happy to inform you that we have just laid down the final tracks for our debut album. To be honest, it went far beyond our expectations, and that is mostly because we decided to strengthen the MASA-squad by adding a vocalist, who is one of the best in the genre. We are talking about Pig (aka Wojciech Wasowicz), the former throat destroyer of Decapitated. Welcome aboard!
There is no way we could not mention that we also have a special guest on this album. It is my personal highlight of the year and probably will come as a surprise to many of you. I would like to thank Adam (ex-LOST SOUL) without whom it might not have happened."
Pig comments: “It turns out you can’t live without death metal, at least not for long...haha...But there really wasn’t much to think about when considering taking part in this crime known as Masachist, since it is a bunch of my old friends, and I was sure they will make some good death metal shit. My final decision was made when I heard the songs – real death metal, with the actual essence of the style, without any of this new school crap. It got me started, hahaha... We recorded the album in Progresja Studio without any problems and had a lot of fun, sometimes maybe a little too much, and since at the time of recording the vocals IMMOLATION were playing a gig in Warsaw, we were able to get them in the studio and feature Ross Dolan on one of the songs! This was the biggest surprise for us and definitely something special for fans of Immolation, including us of course. Thanks a lot Ross! All in all we have nine songs, which you just have to hear if the words “death metal” mean anything to you! Of course I should also add that Death March Fury is the fastest, heaviest and meanest stuff this world has ever heard and Masachist is a Prophet that saves death metal and brings a guiding light to all those lost new-metal sheep and kids singing along to melodic choruses. You will apologize.”
Wednesday 13 has been added to the following Type O Negative shows which will also include SOiL and My Mortality.

Whitechapel will film a video for the song "This Is Exile" this week. The group will be working with director David Brodsky (The Acacia Strain, Suicide Silence) and the video should surface online and on television this summer.
It Dies Today is currently working on a new album. The effort has been titled "Lividity" and will be available this fall via Trustkill Records. Singer Jason Wood elaborates:
"We're really pumped about this new record! Lividity is a medical term (as I am a huge fan of CSI) that means when you die all your blood in your body settles, so where you're lying is a bruise covering that part of your body. Metaphorically for example someone who's life is very stagnant or unmotivated. The common theme of the record is going to be character flaws such as the song 'Nihility,' about nihilism or absolute destructiveness. We've decided to record the album ourselves seeing as we have an amazing engineer (Mike Hatalak) in the band. The plus side to this, is that we have endless time in the studio to perfect the record. Now I'm sure everyone who cares has heard the rumors of a heavy record, well it's true! We're writing a lot more 'Caitiff Choir' like riffs and we're working on a more raw and ballsy atmosphere for this record. Expect sincerity, passion, and fucking power!"
