A heartfelt thanks to everyone's unconditional love and support for us through, let's hope, the hardest time this band will ever see. We told you we'd be back so let's do this thing!” More...
Blazing out of the backwoods of Lodi, Italy, the Zolle duo this week harvest a belligerently unhinged self-titled debut rampage.
To celebrate the bountiful harvest, today Zolle streams the full album online via Altsounds (the album can also be heard below). The following press release was issued about the band:
"The fully instrumental chaos Zolle drunkenly stumbles triumphantly through rages with lively off-kilter riff marches and schizokiller percussive thunder, distressed builds and healthy disharmony. Recorded with a nearly fully live performance by Michelangelo Roberti at Mizkey Studio (Morkobot) and mastered by Giovanni Versari (Zu, Morkobot, OvO, One Dimensional Man), utilizing a massive copper drum kit and an old digital 1950s amp coalescing into a mammoth, organic sound.
"The album also bears gifts of synth from Urlo (Ufomammut, Supernatural Cat) and Roberto Rizzo (Quasiviri, Runi). Zolle is out now on Supernatural Cat -- the underground label run by Malleus Rock Art Lab, the artist collective featuring two members of the psychedelic doom trio Ufomammut. Order the hand-screened 180-gram LP with included CD limited Malleus edition of Zolle direct from the label here."

Chiildren has released a video for the song "My Gods," which is the second clip to come from "The Other People" EP. The band first penetrated the public consciousness with a harrowing yet captivating music video for their single, "Girl In The Dirt." Chris Zeischegg of Chiildren comments:
"'My Gods' is an agnostic prayer as heard by a demon named Elim, otherwise known as the 'lord of attrition.' The video depicts his relationship to three characters and their subsequent deterioration of mind, body, and soul.
"We filmed much of the video completely guerrilla style in an abandoned house in the San Fernando Valley. A passing hiker spotted us and called 911 to report a possible rape/murder. So halfway through our first day, we were approached by three policemen with guns drawn. The sheriff quickly realized what we were doing and then explained that his children were filmmakers. Amazingly, he allowed us to keep shooting as long as we remained unseen by the public.
"In order to continue our good luck, we modified the demonic sigil that we planned to paint on our apartment floor in order to not summon an actual demon." More...
Every Tuesday we check in with metal musicians to get their favorite mosh pit stories from live shows. Today drummer Stephen Carr from Exotic Animal Petting Zoo shares the following story of a masked midget commanding the pit:
This pit story takes place in El Centro, CA and I think the venue was called the Print Shop. A little person at about 4' 3" was the king of the pit ordering every single person at the show to to circle pits and wall of deaths. Kids obeyed him firmly and he never revealed his face or identity the entire show. It was pretty freakish and awesome at the same time. Proof of his existence can be seen in our video below at 0:20 - 0:25.
Exotic Animal Petting Zoo will be hitting the road with Polkadot Cadaver in June, with dates for the North American trek available right here.
Let us know about your favorite mosh pit in the comments below, and check back in again next week for more Pit Stories.

DuskMachine has checked in with the following update about the band's upcoming new album:
"Since the release of our second album is getting closer, it is about time to reveal the cover artwork and give you some info about it.
"The complete artwork was designed and painted by artist Eliran Kantor, best known for his amazing work for bands such as Testament (Dark roots of earth & The Formation of Damnation), Sodom (In war and pieces), Hatebreed (The divinity of purpose) and many more.
"The idea behind the concept art was to create an assembly manual for the DuskMachine, hand-drawn by a mad scientist. More details including the tracklist will follow soon." More...

Dysmorphic has signed a multi-album deal with Unique Leader Records. The label comments on the signing:
"We are pleased to announce that Dysmorphic has joined the Unique Leader family. Hailing from France, Dysmorphic formed in 2008 creating their brand of technical Death Metal in the vein of Necrophagist, Gorod and the like.
"After releasing 2 successful EPs: 'Necroticism, Orphans of Shoel' 2008 & their self-titled release 'Dysmorphic EP 2010' the band established a strong fan base in Europe and received great reviews on their live shows and on the 2 releases.
"While supporting numerous well known acts since the creation of the band, in 2012 Dysmorphic was ready to enter the studio to record its first full length 'A Notion of Causality.' The album brings its influences from progressive & technical song writing while still accompanied by a powerful atmospheric quality keeping the listener intrigued on what will come next.
"Dysmorphic is ready to unleash on the world their debut full length 'A Notion of Causality' late 2013 on Unique Leader Records."
Imminent Sonic Destruction recently wrapped up a North American tour with Pain of Salvation and Kingcrow. The band has now checked in with the following tour recap:
"So, as we say in ISD, 'Here, it's over.' The tour is done and we're all back home. What an absolutely amazing experience this has been. We were floored every night by the reception of the incredible fans who came to see Pain of Salvation, but were also eager to soak up all the new music we were bringing them.
"We made so many new friends along this tour, there's nothing like an open-minded prog/metal crowd to make you feel at home! Also, we want to say a huge THANK YOU to the guys in Pain of Salvation and Kingcrow for pushing us to up our game at every show, and for being such outstanding people.
"We couldn't have asked for a better group of guys to tour with. Not to mention the tour manager, Brian, who ran himself ragged but kept it all rolling, and Milton at Intromental for having the crazy idea to ask us to join this tour in the first place! It means the world to us, and we're only looking to improve and grow from this point forward! The end of the tour, but if feels like the beginning of a new, better chapter in ISD. THANKS!" More...
Domestic Genocide Records is pleased to unveil the label's latest release of sonic exploration in the form of "Restoring Life," the debut full-length from instrumental, post-blackened solo project Cerna. The following press release was issued about the band:
"Founded in Kalamazoo, Michigan in 2011 by Cody McCoy of ambient prog exhibitionists The Omega Experiment, CERNÁ is a multi-dimensional audio journey self-described as 'a musical expression of the many elements missing in modern music today…' Emotionally stirring by design, Restoring Life offers up a swirling vacuum of layered mysteries and cerebral soundscapes inspired by the ethereal odes of Deftones, Asylum Party, Lantlos and Súl ad Astral. 'Creating instrumental music brings a lot of opportunity to take off in melody with the array of different instruments,' notes McCoy.
"Conceptually, CERNÁ centers itself around the perpetual hurdles of existence. Restoring Life is at once melancholic yet nostalgic delivering voiceless hymns of self-reflection, the changing seasons and the harsh realism of love and loss. There is serenity in its moments of despondency; hope in its flashes of despair; happiness in its swells of misfortune… Restoring Life will be released via Domestic Genocide Records on May 28th, 2013." Internal Bleeding is proud to announce the band has completed a 5-song EP, which is a teaser and lead up to forthcoming full-length “Imperium.” The following press release was also issued:
"The New York based band has been slugging it out in the industry since 1991 and have been credited with the invention of “slam-metal” as well as being one of the pioneers of the New York death metal scene.
"'Imperium' is the culmination of 20+ years of working, writing, playing and refining the Internal Bleeding sound. The definition of Imperium is 'supreme power or absolute domination,' and with these songs Internal Bleeding is set to dominate the scene once again. The much-anticipated EP has already caught the attention of many industry heavy hitters and the band will soon have label support behind them once again in support of their full-length release."
“By far, this is the best IB release to date,” states guitarist Chris Pervelis, “From a musical standpoint, it has all the hallmarks of the classic Internal Bleeding sound—heaviness, groove and catchiness–but we pushed ourselves and expanded it into some new directions, without violating the integrity of our music. From a production standpoint, Joe Cincotta at Full force nailed it. He finally got the sound we've been looking for—clear, precise and above all heavy. Having Matt Kourie do the mastering also helped a great deal, as he eschews the overly compressed, thin sound that is so prevalent today for a thicker sound that the listener will feel as well as hear.” More...
The first single from Watain's new album, "The Wild Hunt," will be released on Summer Solstice, June 21st. The name of the single will be "All That May Bleed." The band comments:
"'All that May Bleed' shows but one facet of a quite diverse album, but we chose this song as a first glimpse into 'The Wild Hunt' because of its bombastic lunacy and white-eyed malevolence which could be said to constitute a main foundation for the album. The lyric is an invitation to sacrificial blood letting, ecstatic zealotry and human sacrifice. The salt of Satan in the wounds of Christ!"
Side B will be a track called "Play with the Devil," originally recorded by the black/heavy metal band Taiwaz in 1988 in Watain's hometown, Uppsala (Gottfrid Åhman from In Solitued participates on solo guitar in Watain's version).
"All That May Bleed" is due for physical release on June 24th in Europe and June 25th in North America. More...

Parkway Drive has released a brand new video for "Wild Eyes," taken from "Atlas" album. Check out the clip below.
"This video basically continues on where 'Dark Days' left off," says drummer Ben Gordon who notes that both videos were the concept of director Aaron Hymes. "Dark Days' was commentary on present day and showed the worlds state of environmental Crisis. 'Wild Eyes' is set in the near future, after the World has been destroyed by man."
Gordon goes on to say, "the lyrical concept of 'Wild Eyes' deals with inevitable the end of the world and the impact of our actions so we ran with that idea pretty literally, taking inspiration from post apocalyptic images portrayed through films over the years. We are all stoked on this video!" More...

Veteran British/American heavy metal trio Raven will release "Rock Until You Drop - A Long Days Journey," a two-disc DVD, as a digipak via SPV/Steamhammer June 21st (Germany), June 24th (EU) and July 2nd (USA/Canada).
The release contains four 4.5 hours of concert footage from around the world, plus studio, backstage, interview footage with the band, the fans, musicians and producer. It tells the story of over three decades of trailblaizing metal mayhem!
From the well-documented early days as NWOBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal) frontrunners, Raven's albums "Rock Until You Drop", "Wiped Out" and "All For One" virtually invented both the speed metal and power metal genres — during the trailblazing USA tours of the '80s introducing the States to "athletic rock," as well as giving opening acts like Metallica and Anthrax its first tours, through the doldrums of the late '80s/early '90s when a grunge-obsessed media wrote off so many acts, Raven has consistently proved to be both survivors par excellence and in a genre of grim imitation shown that they are "the real thing". Where so many of their contemporaries have either faded creatively or become parodies of themselves, RAVEN have consistently pushed the envelope while retaining their unique sound and attack — both in the studio & in their true element, onstage! Santa Cruz, California’s Arsonists Get All the Girls (AGATG) is pleased to announce the release of fifth full-length album, "Listen to the Color." The album will be available this summer via Bandcamp.
"Listen to the Color" is a 15-track collection of AGATG resurrecting the band's thrashy quirky roots. The album was recorded with Zack Ohren (Animosity, All Shall Parish) and clocks in at approximately 30 minutes, featuring guest vocals from Cameron Reed (former vocals/keyboardist AGATG), Rob Smith (Heavy Heavy Low Low/Downstaaiirs), Kevin McCaughey (Ion Dissonance), and Robby Bancroft (Five Characters In Search of an Exit).
Vocalist Jared Monette has left the band on good terms to pursue a different career choice. Bassist Greg Howell comments on the vocalist change, “When Jared stepped down it felt natural to bring Remi back into the mix because we knew we wanted to continue with two vocalists to pursue a chaotic album.”
AGATG welcomed back former vocalist Remi Rodberg, he comments on his return, “It’s on! Garin and the boys asked if I wanted to participate in the band again after about four years and I am ready. I am pumped to be back and jamming again and it makes our brother in the sky proud to see us taking this further than we ever thought.”
Guitarist and founding member Arthur Alvarez has also left AGATG, the band comments on his departure, “Over the past year Arthur and the rest of us weren't seeing eye to eye. Arthur stepping down was the only thing we could all agree on, it was mutual." More...
Detroit, MI's Battlecross has completed work on a second album for Metal Blade Records. The title, track-listing, as well as music and behind the scenes studio videos are being readied for public consumption.
Until then, Battlecross has shared some thoughts on the recording process at Audiohammer Studios with producer Mark Lewis (The Black Dahlia Murder, Trivium, Whitechapel, DevilDriver).
Guitarist Hiran Deraniyagala explains: "I was extremely excited about recording our next album but I didn't know what to expect coming into Audiohammer. There was a lot of pressure on us, but we delivered! Our efforts would not have produced the same results without the masterminds of Mark and Eyal. I haven't stopped listening to it and I can't wait for the world to hear it!"
Guitarist Tony Asta adds: "We really pushed ourselves on the new album. Working with Mark and Eyal at Audiohammer was learning experience for me, especially while honing my lead guitar parts. The album came out light years ahead of my expectations and I'm proud to say I had a part in it. The recording process was different than I was used to but I really like their approach. The laid back atmosphere, mixed with the deliver or be delivered expectations, really inspired me to do my best.
On the low end, over-the-top bass guitar phenom, Don Slater, offers up his thoughts on the process: "What makes recording an album almost seem effortless is the environment and professionalism you are working with; Eyal Levi and Mark Lewis at Audiohammer are prime examples of this in top-notch form. As laid back as their approach is to their craft, it enables unbroken focus to the project by not fogging things up with unwanted stress. I simply couldn't have asked for a better team of gentlemen to work with, and the almost random cameos by Jason Suecof were a treat as well. These guys know exactly what they are doing, and it shows in their work, namely our upcoming release. Also, knowing the caliber of musicians they've worked with drove me to do the very best I could for this album, inspiring me to think outside the typical bass box. Our experience with Audiohammer not only pushed us to make the best damned album possible, but also made a better musician of myself. I can't thank them enough." More...

Another album reissue from Corsair, "Alpha Centauri," is scheduled for release through Shadow Kingdom Records on July 8th. Quietly arriving onto the scene in 2010, "Alpha Centauri" is Corsair's first EP and constitutes the foundation of this metal/rock band. Heavily rooted in the sounds of classic 70's rock and metal, the EP has splashes of just about every 70's band you can imagine, from Kiss, Led Zeppelin, and David Bowie to Black Sabbath.
Born out of the hot embers of Charlottesville, VA's Black Sabbath annual tribute band Mass Sabbath, Corsair formed in early 2008 with the purpose of writing progressive rock that would transcend space and time. Having endured the intensive training of of Mass Sabbath and most recently, Spinal Tap, Corsair has emerged with calloused fingers and a united, unbending will to unleash new found guitharmony powers onto the world of rock. Stream the entire "Alpha Centauri" release below.
Comatose Music has announced a June 25th release date for Necrotic Disgorgement's "Documentaries of Dementia." Nine years since its debut release, Necrotic Disgorgement welcomes the inevitable apocalypse with this second full length release.
Now with the addition of a new vocalist and bassist, the disc clocks in at over 40 minutes of technical blasting brutality - documenting the most ruthless torture killers via the lead guitar solos by veteran axemen Tony Tipton and Ben Deskins. A promo video for the album, featuring the track "Grotesque Skeletal Reconstruction," is posted below.
Hailing from Lima, Peru, death/doom entity Mirthless will release its debut full-length "A Dirge For Your Suicide," on June 1st via Dunkelheit Produktionen. This analogue-recorded album is given a 3-panel-digipack including a colored poster (24 x 24 cm) by Dunkelheit Produktionen. The artwork was made by Erick Neyra (Goat Semen) and perfectly matches the sound of the occult hellish elegies. The tracklisting and cover art follows, along with a stream of the first track "Pantheon of Disgraces."
1. Chapter I: Pantheon of Disgraces
2. Chapter II: Prelude to Doomsday
3. Chapter III: A Dirge for your Suicide
4. Chapter IV: Paz
On July 5, 2013 the long-awaited debut album "Ecstasy of God" from Ludwigshafen, Germany-based technical death metallers Spheron will be out on Apostasy Records. The album was produced together with Christoph Brandes at the Iguana Studios (e.g. Necrophagist, Deadborn, Imperium Dekadenz, etc.). The cover artwork was painted by no other than the famous artist Eliran Kantor who has already worked with bands like Testament, Hatebreed, Sodom and Atheist. Album track "Saturnian Satellites" from the twelve song release is streaming below.
Shadow Kingdom Records has unveiled The Vein to the death/black/doom metal community in the form of its debut album "Scouring the Wreckage of Time." In between creating epic doom metal albums, the two Altar Of Oblivion members involved gave birth to this devil child. The Vein is a death/doom metal twist to what Altar Of Oblivion has done on albums like last year's epic take with "Grand Gesture of Defiance," but The Vein offers something much darker and heavier.
Musically, the style is a classic one; recalling the late 80s early 90's death and black Metal. The Vein makes its debut with a very unique release, a double EP. Shadow Kingdom Records has been waiting to put out the right kind of death/black Metal album for a long time now and "Scouring the Wreckage of Time," due out this summer, unequivocally fits that bill. Stream album tracks "The Great Deception" and "The Poisoned Chalice" over at bandcamp, or below in the player.
Shadow Kingdom Records has reissued the sophomore album "Metal" from legendary Wichita, KS heavy metal behemoth Manilla Road. "Metal" is a transition period for the band, one that saw them getting away from their progressive rock roots and moving more towards heavy metal - hence the title "Metal." There are some pivotal songs here and the production is very similar to their debut, "Invasion."
The artwork for the reissue is what the originally had in mind for the album, but due to some issues they released a more plain cover instead - which is now included on the back of the booklet. The choice of preferred cover is then left to the fan. Below is the tracklisting and cover art of the 1982 opus.
1. Enter the Warrior
3. Queen of the Black Coast
5. Out of Control With Rock n Roll
6. Cage of Mirrors
7. Far Side of the Sun
French metal band Darktribe posted a new music video for "Taiji." The song appears on the band's debut release "Mysticeti Victoria," which was issued via Massacre Records in August of 2012.

Following the 2011 surprise breakout prog masterpiece "Bilateral" (reviewed here), Norwegian outfit Leprous will be releasing new album "Coal" on May 28th, 2013. Pre-orders for the album are now available through CMdistro.com.
Bits and pieces of the album have already made their way online, and today Metalunderground.com is stoked to bring you the North American premiere for new music video "The Cloak." Check it out through the player below, and be sure to let us know what you think in the comments section.
Leprous also comments: "While we're anxiously waiting to release 'Coal' to the public, another taste of it is coming your way. A while back we announced a video was in the making, and now everything is ready for your eyes and ears. 'The Cloak' is our second music video, and we're extremely excited to finally release it! Enjoy!"
After giving this 4 minute video a watch if you want a longer (and heavier) preview of the new album, listen to the song "Chronic" and read our recent interview with Leprous at this location. The track listing for "Coal" is as follows:

Finnish melodic death act Damnation Plan posted a new music video for the track "Ashes." The song is from the debut release "The Wakening," which out now via Coroner Records. Polish act J.D. Overdrive posted a new music video for the track "Funeral Stopper." The song appears on the band's second LP "Fortune Favors the Brave," which is scheduled for release on May 27th (EU) and July 2nd (USA) via Metal Mind Productions.
Guitarist Michal "Stempel" Stemplowski commented on the video: "The good old MTV doesn’t exists anymore so some people see no point in making a video clip. But not us. You can upload your music along with a video on the internet almost on the go so why shouldn’t we use that tool? We decided to shoot a video for the track ‘Funeral Stopper’, which is a killer track at our gigs. Apart from standard band shots, it features a short story of a guy led by us through the forest with a bag on his head and bound hands. The presence of shovels and a baseball bat on the set was not accidental! And, apparently, some people didn’t find it very funny… we realized this when some very serious-looking policemen got on the set shouting ‘Drop it right now!’ Someone must have called the police!
