"When it comes to the new MCD, I have written 2.5 songs and I’m very satisfied with how it sounds! This time we have a plan about what we want to do, and thats also why we decided to do a MCD with 6 songs instead of a fullength album. It will be a new turn for Nidrike, and we r aiming for the mid 90:s, Swedish black metal scene with Naglfar, Vinterland, Dissection and so on. Dont really know why, but it just feels right at the moment. Don’t be afraid though, there will be some blasting parts filled with the Nidrike hatred you now are used to!"

"The most important thing to me is that we're all together and, you know, it's been a tough and painful experience at times, but it's been very rewarding at the same time."

Vader mainman Peter Wiwczarek has posted the following report from the road:
"The first two weeks of the tour are behind us... We have played already several concerts in France, Germany, Benelux and England. To tour in our own nightliner, with the best roadies in the world - veterans of Vader's invasions - can be only a pleasure. It guaranties calm, so necessary in such long and important tours...
Finally we can realize in the best way, all that was prepared by our management in last months. Almost all venues, where we play are good places, so the bands and - first of all - our fans should enjoy it.
This is the first day off today (there will be three more on the tour), so I found a moment to drop some lines and recap the first two weeks of the tour.
We had a great time on the boat, on the trip to Forts Enet and Boyard on Atlantic Ocean (and cool time on grill organized by our drivers Kristoph and Zbiggy). There were our old friends from INACTIVE MESSIAH among us but also "new faces"... if I can describe so the great bands like DEVIAN or SEPTIC FLESH. More...

Billboard.com reports: Nearly four years have passed since the release of Slipknot's "Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)." But members of the masked metal act have little doubt that its as-yet-untitled fourth studio effort, tentatively due Aug. 12 via Roadrunner Records, will appease its loyal fans, the Maggots.
"It's going to rip your face off," Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor tells Billboard.com with confidence. "I don't think the world will be ready for this album."
Declining to give an album title or song names, Taylor describes Slipknot's forthcoming set -- which is being recorded in the band's home state of Iowa -- as a "very dark" cross between "Vol. 3" and 2001's "Iowa." "It has so much power in it and yet there are so many great spots for melody," he explains. "It's a controlled chaos that hits you right out of the gate."

Freshly signed to Screaming Ferret Wreckords, Mongrel, made up by singer Drew Barker, guitarists Adam Savage and Andrew X, bassist Rev, and drummer Ed Loguercio, are aiming to leave their mark with a newly re-released version of their debut full-length, "Fear, Lies, and Propaganda."
"Recording 'Fear, Lies, and Propaganda' was a very busy but rewarding time," recalls the group's leader and main songwriter, Savage. "Mongrel doesn't really know how to take time off, so during the period of time we were recording, mixing, mastering, we were also playing 6-10 shows a month as well. Our nights off from shows more often than not meant an afternoon and/or evening in the studio to do some tracking, over-dubs, or mixing whenever the studio was available over a couple months time. The great thing was that despite the busy schedule, no matter who was at the studio on a given night doing some work we always were productive and had a lot of fun and a lot of laughs, including our engineer."
Mongrel's "Fear, Lies, and Propaganda" balances old school punk intensity and energy with hard rock hooks and riffs and also including elements of grunge and metal.
But the album is only part of the equation, as a Mongrel concert is certainly an unforgettable experience, admits Savage. "Once we're on stage, it's no holds barred with the always possible risk of injury with 4 people up front in near constant motion. It's high energy, intense, and fun, interactive with the crowd, we love it when the crowd sings along and allows us to feed off that energy between the performance and the people up front. Fans can expect a band that is always willing to hang out and chat because we're all music fans too and are always eager to talk to the bands that we love so it is very important for us to interact with anyone who wants to at our shows."
"We are looking to tour more extensively both here in the US and with any luck in Europe as well. We are looking to record and release our next full-length album within the next year, with most of it already written and tested out live. Continuing to build upon our strong work ethic and strong connection with our fans, spreading the word, getting more media exposure, and hopefully never resorting to using the cliche 'Our new album is heavier yet more melodic'."
Here is the complete tracklisting for "Fear, Lies, and Propaganda": More...

Indie Recordings has announced the signing of the doom metal band FUNERAL. Their yet to be titled new album will be released on September 1, 2008.
With three albums and an EP under their belt, FUNERAL has grown to be one of the leading doom bands in Europe. Having sold more than 8,000 copies of their previous album "From These Wounds" on TABU Recordings, it's no doubt FUNERAL will make an impact on the metal scene this fall. FUNERAL is by many considered to be the founding fathers of the sub genre Funeral-Doom. They are known to push the limits, and on their next album they will once again challenge the genre by adding complex brass and string arrangements.
The album will be available both as a regular CD and VINYL but also in a very exclusive limited edition DIGIPACK with a bonus DVD.
In a press statement the band comments the signing and the upcoming album:
"Funeral are thankful towards Indie Recordings for taking the chance to release our miserable dirges. The band are looking forward to work with this up and coming Norwegian label for future releases. Hopefully this does not ruin our funereal underground touch. The Funeral-march towards the never ending evenfall continues."
