I was recently pointed to a site for Beatallica and I just had to pass it on! As the site says, the band plays "Beatles tunes, done Metallica style". I was not only surprised at the quality of the production (not great, but not bad), but also of the creativeness in the songs themselves. They have a total of 7 songs online to download in mp3 format. The songs on their site are:
- Sgt. Hetfield's Motorbreath Pub Band TAB
- A Garage Dayz Nite
- For Horsemen
- No Remorseful Reply
- The Thing That Should Not Let It Be
- Everybody's Got A Ticket To Ride Except For Me And My Lightning
- ...And Justice For All My Loving
If I were to review these songs, they'd get a higher rating than the last couple Metallica albums! You better go download these tracks while they're available (before the lawyers are sicked on them)...
UPDATE: The main site linked above is bogged down for downloading, so try the mirror - it's not up to date on the news, but much faster for downloading the mp3s.

In the not to distant future Nattas, melting both black and thrash metal influences together, will threaten the music market with their debut release “At Ease With The Beast.” Due to not doing things by halves, the Swedish enter Thomas Skogsberg’s respected and beloved Sunlight Studio to record the album in May and June.

After Phil's comments, Pantera drummer Vinnie Paul has cast more doubt on the future of the band. "There is no future for Pantera right now,” he told Revolver recently. There is no commitment from Philip or Rex to Pantera and our great fans."

Sweden's Gardenian have completed the recording sessions for their as-yet-untitled follow-up to 2000's "Sindustries" and are currently mixing the effort at Gothenburg's Studio Fredman for a tentative late 2003 release through an as-yet-undetermined label. "When the mixing is done Gardenian will start shopping for a new record deal," the band write on their official web site, www.gardenian.net.
Gardenian, who split with Nuclear Blast Records in 2001, have incorporated a more melodic vocal approach into their sound, a development that has received some criticism from the group's die-hard fans looking for the band to continue on a more aggressive musical path. "For you who wonder about growls..." the group write on the site, "[Gardenian's] characteristic mixture of growls & clean vocals wont be missed by anyone."

Vocalist Phil Anselmo says that he is done with Pantera and he intends to focus all his time and energy on Superjoint Ritual. "There was a lot of business with Warner Bros. and this and that Down and Pantera and this and that, and etc. etc." Anselmo was quoted as saying by MetalIndex.com. "Whatever. Pretty much what I'm doing here is I'm sticking with Superjoint, and I'm not doing fuckin' anything else. This is where I'm most comfortable and this it the type of music that I wanna do, you know?"
Anselmo says that he is proud of what Pantera achieved and is also proud that they pulled the plug rather than faded away. "If you think about it, Pantera never went away until we personally said, 'Fuck it'."
Asked if he sees patching up differences and rejoining Down or Pantera, Anselmo said, "Never say never... [but] not right now." More...

Guitarist Sami Vauhkonen had the following to say regarding the band's live performance:
"Lullacry is about the sweat and action! There must be something to look at on the stage. Also, you have to work hard with the band. You have to know what you want to sound like. It's bullshit if artist say that only amateurs rehearse! I think you must have guts to put your songs out on the stage with the different arrangement if needed. Now we've been touring in Finland. In the summer we'll do festivals basically in Finland, including a one-off festival gig in Milwaukee. In the autumn we've planned to do an European tour. I hope that we can do a tour someday in North America. It would great." More...
