Hot on the heels of the band's success with their Billboard charting "Bombshell" release in 2006, "Strip'em Blind Live" CD success in 2007, coupled with their relentless touring in Europe, Kentucky based rockers HYDROGYN return to form with the release of their new opus, "Deadly Passions," apparently moved up to a June 10 (from June 23) release via Demolition Records. Blabbermouth.net reports via The Pulse of Radio: TOOL frontman Maynard James Keenan sent an email to fans last week in which he said that A PERFECT CIRCLE, the band he formed in 2000 with guitarist Billy Howerdel, is still a going concern even though both Keenan and Howerdel are both now involved with other projects. Keenan wrote, "As many of you may have heard, Billy and I are engaged in our own little projects for the moment. His is called ASHES DIVIDE and mine is called PUSCIFER...Please be advised that A PERFECT CIRCLE and TOOL are still alive and well. This is simply MORE." A PERFECT CIRCLE went on hiatus in 2004 after issuing three studio albums and one live set, while Keenan went back to work with TOOL and Howerdel began assembling ASHES DIVIDE.
ASHES DIVIDE's debut album, "Keep Telling Myself It's Alright", was released last month, with Howerdel unveiling the project's touring lineup this past weekend.
Keenan issued the debut PUSCIFER album, "V Is For Vagina", last fall, and continues to work on additional music for the project.
TOOL's latest album, "10,000 Days," surfaced almost exactly two years ago, and Keenan has said recently that the band could regroup later this year to begin work on its next effort.
Howerdel told The Pulse of Radio last year that he wasn't really sure whether A PERFECT CIRCLE would ever be reactivated, saying, "We might do something in the future, but all I can see is ASHES DIVIDE right now. That's kind of all I have in front of me."

Toxic Holocaust have posted the following studio update:
"On day two in the studio we started by recording the drums again. Donny banged out 6 more songs. Things are shaping up nicely.
We have 4 more drum tracks to cut then it's on to the guitars, bass and vocals. Actually, we had some time last night and I did the rhythm guitars for 3 songs.
We used my Marshall and strangely enough a '67 Fender amp that the studio owns. We put a distortion pedal in front of it and it sounds savage!"
Toxic Holocaust recently announced that they will join the reunited AT THE GATES on their upcoming North American tour. This tour, which also includes DARKEST HOUR and MUNICIPAL WASTE, will kick-off on July 9th in New York City.
Testament guitarist Alex Skolnick has posted the following update:
"Spring is here and not a moment too soon.
As this is being written, I'm in a place I've never been, Grand Forks, North Dakota. I believe this is one of five states in the US that I've never been, the other four being South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana and Alaska. This year I'll be going a lot of places I've never been - Russia, Serbia and Romania (with Testament) and New Zealand (with Alex Skolnick Trio).
It's an exciting time. Much of this has already been announced, but here's a rundown.
Testament is back in full force. New album Formation Of Damnation came out last week. Just found out it's charting all over Europe, even reaching 15 in Germany (watch out David Hasselhoff!). It entered the Billboard charts in the US at #59 - our highest chart position ever. More...

The first product from Coma Clinic is promotional CD containing three songs. Unafraid to break some boundaries, the effort mixes modern trash-metal with overflowing melodies and the intensity of hardcore.
All guitar solos were played by young, promising guitar hero Kimi Rautiainen (also in Exsecratus).

In a somewhat shocking move, Stone Temple Pilots/ ex-Velvet Revolver singer Scott Weiland has been released from prison after serving a mere thirteen minutes in jail!
Apparantly he turned himself in to the authorities at 8:55 in the morning and was officially booked not long after noon. He was then assigned a housing location at 6:41 but was released at 6:54.
Scott Weiland was wanted by the authorities on an outstanding DUI charge from November. He was scheduled to serve eight days in jail.
Scott Weiland will be touring with Stone Temple Pilots this summer and is also recording a new, double disc solo album.
The Gathering have posted the following message on their official forums:
“Dear all, Sorry it has been a while since you’ve heard from us. We apologize for this. It actually means that we have been really busy with the band. During the last couple of months we created a lot of new ideas that lead to the first songs of our upcoming CD. Yes, we are working on a new album! Or actually, two new albums! Many of our new songs are very rock and guitar orientated and will end up on a heavy rock album for sure. The second album will be filled with more ’shoe gaze’, dreamy tracks.
We can imagine if you are very curious about new vocalists. Currently, we are working with several. It feels very refreshing and interesting to work with different voices and it adds beautiful new colours to our music. Names will be presented as soon as our ideas become more concrete. As promised you will hear new material by the end of this year. The release of our new album is planned for Spring 2009. On behalf of the band, Hans Rutten“

OZZFEST--the original and iconic hard rock festival--returns in 2008 as a one-day stadium spectacular on Saturday, August 9 in Dallas, Texas that teams OZZFEST founder and namesake Ozzy Osbourne (in his only U.S. concert appearance this summer) with Metallica (marking their OZZFEST debut).
Produced by Sharon Osbourne and AEG LIVE, the all-day festival at Pizza Hut Park in hard music-loving Dallas will feature three stages of non-stop talent (with many OZZFEST alumni) and reliably twisted OZZFEST side attractions.
The full main stage lineup will also spotlight performances by Serj Tankian (System of a Down), Hellyeah, Jonathan Davis (Korn), Cavalera Conspiracy, Shadows Fall, Apocalyptica and In This Moment. Also scheduled on the main stage is a special all-star tribute to slain Pantera guitarist ‘Dimebag’ Darrell Abbott. Second stage acts include Sevendust, Devildriver, Kingdom of Sorrow, Soilent Green, Witchcraft and Goatwhore. The Texas (third) stage—“an homage to the “many great metal bands that come from Texas,” says Sharon Osbourne--features The Sword, Drowning Pool and Rigor Mortis.
“Ozzy just finished an 11-month world tour so I think he deserves a summer off,” Sharon says about this year’s one-day OZZFEST. “We’re going to be a stadium destination festival for now--we have gone past doing the sheds every summer. We’ve given everyone else the blueprint and we have to keep evolving OZZFEST. This is just the beginning; AEG Live and I have a lot of new ideas for OZZFEST."
This year’s dynamic line-up encompasses artists who’ve played OZZFEST before in different incarnations such as Serj Tankian (System of a Down); Jonathan Davis (Korn); Hellyeah’s Vinnie Paul (Pantera) and Chad Gray (Mudvayne); Kingdom of Sorrow’s Jamie Jasta (Hatebreed) and Kirk Windstein (Down); and Max Cavalera (Soulfly, Sepultura) of Cavalara Conspiracy. Other OZZFEST graduates include Shadows Fall, Sevendust, Devildriver, Drowning Pool and In This Moment.
“Ozzy has great relationships with all of the bands that have played OZZFEST,” says Sharon. “We’re the only real festival for harder edge bands and these artists have been very loyal to us--there is lots of love on this line-up."
