Metalunderground.com contributor and Dark Hound frontman Frank Serafine has parted with the band. Here's the update from the band themselves:
"First of all, let me say thank you to everyone who came to the Blackguard/Swashbuckle show. It was awesome!
"It is with a bittersweet attitude that I have to inform all of you that Frank Serafine is no longer a member of Dark Hound. His split is mutual and amicable, and he will remain a close friend as he pursues his career in the music industry and honing his craft as a music producer.
"So, the question remains: How does this effect Dark Hound? Well, while it will be slightly different, the rest of us are incredibly excited about the future. The main songwriting element is still intact. ET will take over vocal duties for the time being, and a guitar player has joined the band who is sure to launch us to new levels. Who is it?
"We will be having a farewell show for Frank this summer. Details will be made available as soon we confirm everything, but every Dark Hound fan will need to be there. Sadly, we will be retiring the songs "Dark Hound" and "Paint It White". But, this show is where we will announce the newest member of Dark Hound. You might even be able to see him play! Very exciting!!!
"After this show this summer we probably won't play any shows until the winter. So don't miss this, and stay tuned for more details!"
The musicians that make up thrash powerhouse Warbeast are no newcomers to the scene. Using years upon years of experience in creating extreme thrash in bands like Rigor Mortis and Gammacide, Warbeast has just released their debut album backed up 100% by Housecore Records and it’s owner Phil Anselmo, who joined the band on stage to show his support. At Warbeast’s CD release show in Fort Worth, Texas, last week, old fans of the musicians and curious youngsters just learning about the legendary thrash scene of Texas showed up to get their heads bashed in with damaging riffs and paralyzing growls from all of the bands on the bill. But most of all, just to get a peek at the supergroup that will soon dominate the thrash genre. More...
New York hardcore act Sick Of It All are set to perform a string of upcoming shows this summer with Alpha and Omega, 50 Lions, and Trash Talk in the supporting slots. Vocalist Lou states: “We are very excited to get back on the road. Especially to be getting back to the West Coast. It's been too long. We have a lot of friends and fans that have been waiting patiently for us to come back. Well that was until the new album came out. Then the e-mails and messages were more like ‘you can't make an album like this and not come out here to play them live’ and we totally agree.
"We can't wait to get out there and sweat it out with everyone. The new set we've put together has a great flow. Hits you hard and keeps going and will have you singing along from start to finish. It's a great mix of old and new songs so start brushing up on those lyrics. I don't think anyone will be disappointed. See you in the pit.” More...
Swedish melodic death metallers Dark Tranquillity will make their return to North America on May 11th as they kick off a massive headlining tour with Threat Signal and Mutiny Within supporting. A chat with vocalist Mikael Stanne can be viewed below. He describes the meaning behind the band’s new album, the difficulties of getting into songwriting mode, the meaning behind some of his favorite tracks off the new disc, winning over news fans, and his touring essentials. Newcomer on bass, Daniel Antonsson, also speaks about how he joined the band and what he likes most about being on tour.
Stanne further describes his excitement over the headlining tour: “We rehearsed like crazy to put together a set that will blow you away. It’s been hard, but we feel we have a good collection of songs that represent every aspect of the band and will please fans of both new and old material. Also, the mad genius Niklas (guitars) created some amazing artwork and animation that will look incredible and add a new dimension to the show.
“This is without a doubt the biggest production we've done in the States. We cannot wait to bring you the full Dark Tranquillity experience. We are also really happy to bring some really awesome bands with us this time around. Threat Signal and Mutiny Within are bands we’ve had our eyes on for quite a while and they will make sure you all will have one hell of a metal night. Cheers and see you all very soon.”

A Tour designed for the sole purpose of taking Death Metal back to its roots, a time when metal wasn’t a fashion statement and Death Metal came from some place much more sinister and far more deadly!"
John McEntee, Ibex Moon Records label mastermind and guitarist/vocalist for Incantation, had this to say about the tour: “With all the trends in metal these days and all these fest type tours that mostly only highlight the flavor of the month bands. We wanted to put together a tour with 3 strong Death Metal bands that all in their own right have proven themselves to be true warriors of death! Each band has forged their own legacy by being 100% true to themselves and it shows with their intense live performances.
