Job For A Cowboy Announce Release Show

Glendale, AZ extreme metal unit JOB FOR A COWBOY has announced a San Antonio record release show to celebrate the arrival of its eagerly anticipated debut album, "GENESIS". The event is scheduled for the evening of May 15, 2007 at local hard rock venue The White Rabbit.

Sponsored by San Antonio area HOT TOPIC locations, the record release show will spotlight one of heavy music's fastest rising young bands in JOB FOR A COWBOY. The band has come to regard San Antonio as a "home away from home" recently, as support for JFAC in the city has been second to none over the course of past tour visits. San Antonio metal fans flooded the White Rabbit on the band's last visit to town, easily selling out the 1000 seat venue.

Additionally, the band has announced that an exclusive month-long pre-order package has been made available at all area HOT TOPIC locations to fans that secure their copy of "GENESIS" prior to its May 15 street date. The JOB FOR A COWBOY pre-order "bundle" includes the band's full-length debut CD and a JFAC T-shirt -- exclusive to this promotion -- for only twenty dollars. Adding to the special package, the first 500 JOB FOR A COWBOY fans to pre-order the "GENESIS" bundle will receive a free ticket to the record release show.

JOB FOR A COWBOY, who toured the world in 2006 in support of their wildly-popular, self-financed "DOOM" EP, recorded "GENESIS" at Blue Light Audio Media in Phoenix, AZ with producer Cory Spotts. The album was mixed by the Grammy winning Andy Sneap (OPETH, ENTOMBED, MEGADETH).

The brand new JFAC song "Embedded", as well as a sneak peak at the GENESIS cover artwork can be found on the band's MySpace page.

Unleashed Cancel European Tour

Swedish death metallers UNLEASHED have issued the following update:

"Sadly....and just like a few other tours before ours... Metallysee [Belgian booking agency] fucked up again! It is with anger in our hearts we have to announce that the European tour has been cancelled for reasons completely out of our control. Ourselves and our brothers in BELPHEGOR tried in a combined effort to make this tour happen until the very last minute, but in the end there was nothing we could do. However, thanks to the local promotor in Ireland the shows in Dublin and Cork this weekend will happen as planned! We will also do the headline festivals in Germany: The Deathcrush fest in Adelsheim on the 26th of May and Hellraiser fest on the 27th in Leipzig."

"We are, of course, extremely disappointed but will not let this bring us down! We will spend no extra energy on slandering Metallysee, it is far to obvious that this company is not worth mentioning ever again."

"UNLEASHED will reschedule the European tour to later this year, likely in the autumn."

Within Temptation Post 'Frozen' Video Online

WITHIN TEMPTATION's video for the song "Frozen" has been posted at YouTube. According to a posting on the group's web site, the clip's storyline is based on events that take place at the turn of the 20th century, dealing with a pretty heavy subject: violence and abuse within a family.

Commented the band: "We decided to raise this subject because it is still a very shocking issue in our society today. It is a subject that we feel is not discussed in public enough. The victims of abuse suffer their whole life and the dark figure of abuse is extremely high, for the reason that in the majority of the cases it happens within the very close family circle. The victims sometimes feel guilty when they would accuse a close relative and fear revenge as they were obviously threatened by the abuser." More...

New Bury Your Dead Singer Leaves Band

Lambgoat reports that they received an email stating that Bury Your Dead singer Michael Crafter has left the band. This information has yet to be confirmed, but here's a statement attributed to Crafter:

"Since I got to the USA I knew I had a lot of weight on my shoulders. I wanted to prove myself so much and be a good frontman for BYD. It’s been 2 months since I got to the USA and all I have wanted is to be home with my friends and this stops me from giving my all. I met a lot of great people here. My time with the band was short and was a lot of fun and a great experience. Eric, Bubble, Slim and Mark became my new mates and I'll forever be grateful I was given this chance. This tour has opened my eyes up to a lot of things and being in a band in another country isn’t what I want to do. From practicing and playing shows with BYD will always be a great memory and something I’m glad I gave a shot. But my home is Australia and home is where the heart is. Thanks again."

SYL And The Devin Townsend Band Finished

During a Ziltoid the Omniscient press conference, Devin Townsend has announced that his projects Strapping Young Lad and The Devin Townsend Band have been put to an end, and that he will not be touring again at any point in the future. Devin will, however, continue to make and release solo music.

After the audience took the statement from Ziltoid that Devin would be moving away, never to be seen again as a joke, Townsend came forth to confirm that he is indeed moving to a remote Northern Canadian town. He said that he will continue to make music, and lots of it, some of which will be ambient, some heavy, and so on. His new house will have a studio, though he will keep his Vancouver studio which he uses to produce other bands. However, Devin will not tour to support any music he releases in the future, nor will he be appearing in public at all.

Devin stated that while his 8-month old son was a contributing factor towards this decision, he had been considering doing this for some time now, and that he is tired of being in the limelight and touring and interviews and such. He is also tired of Strapping Young Lad, with the last tour being extremely difficult for him in terms of enthusiasm. He no longer has the same frustrations SYL was created to vent, and no longer feels the need to scream at people.

Therion Part Ways With Singer Mats Leven

Swedish symphonic metallers THERION have issued the following update:

"From Wacken Open Air and onwards, Mats Levén (KRUX) will no longer be singing with the band. It was a decision taken by the whole band in discussion with Mats. This change of line-up is on friendly terms and the remaining shows before Wacken will be performed with the same energy and passion as if nothing had happened. There are no bad feelings. Therion will continue to develop even further into the direction we set on the last tour and Mats will focus on his new projects.
