Italian black metal duo Laetitia in Holocaust, which consists of vocalist/guitarist S. and bassist N., saw the release of their first full-length album "The Tortoise Boat" last year. The band exudes the misanthropic outlook that has made black metal so infamous, with S. stating "Our music is the tentacle of some negative moments, feelings and thoughts, not the soundtrack of a good evening."
Taking the hostility up a notch, he also went on to reveal his thoughts on performing live, commenting that "The only show we would like to do is a show where people are eaten by sharks in a shiny dawn, in the quiet waters of the Pacific." S. shared his thoughts on the extreme metal scene and gave a brief taste of what fans can expect from Laetitia in Holocaust's upcoming album. More...
NJ metal band Windfaerer has issued the following studio update:
"It's been a long time since any updates have been made, but I am pleased to announce that the debut full-length Tribus is currently nearing completion! We have finished mixing most of the music and are approaching the mastering stage. A brand new, unmastered version of one of the songs off Tribus will be available for your listening pleasure very, very soon (tonight, maybe?). Keep your ears open and stay alert!"
Sweden's Netherbird has checked in with the following announcement about parting ways with their drummer Adrian Erlandsson:
"Greetings friends, we have a line-up change in the ranks of Netherbird! Due to his jam packed touring schedule which sees Adrian Erlandsson doing extensive touring with Paradise Lost, Brujeria and Nemhain we have mutually decided that he will no longer be a full time member of Netherbird. Netherbird now starts to hit the live stages and will require more time from all members and it is therefore no longer possible for Adrian to act as our full time drummer. We are of course sad since he was a very vital part both of the sound and the great chemistry that is the basis for this band but sometimes practical issues makes it necessary to make alterations no matter how painful. Adrian is a close friend and we will miss greatly and we will proudly keep supporting our good friend in all ways, always!
"His replacement is already found and Erik Röjås (also drummer in Swedish melodic thrash act Decadence) will now hammer the drums for Netherbird both live and in the studio! We know we have found a worthy replacement and we are proud to welcome him into the ranks of this dark beast. Despite his mere 22 years of age he has already years of experience both from the studio and in the live environment so we are confident he has what it takes! So we hope you all will give him a warm welcome! Erik will of course also carry on as the drummer for Decadence! See you all soon!"
Buenos Aires based progressive power metal act Auvernia is currently streaming three new songs online. 9. Your Own Universe
10. Ode To Life
11. Another Conscience

Since holding a press conference last week, no other word has come out of Bret Michaels' camp. However, the Poison frontman and solo artist has reportedly been released from the Barrow Neurological Institute at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona and is undergoing physical rehabilitation.
The Associated Press reports that Dr. Joseph Zabramski "said he recommended that Michaels wait at least four to six weeks before resuming normal activity. He declined to say when Michaels could resume touring. Doctors will examine Michaels every two weeks until he's recovered.
"Zabramski said Michaels is fully conscious and aware and talking fine, but he has back spasms and headaches when he tries to walk. He could continue getting back pain and headaches, but Zabramski doesn't expect any other long-term effects. He wouldn't say when Michaels was released or whether he was sent home or to a rehabilitation facility.
"The 47-year-old contestant on "The Celebrity Apprentice" is receiving therapy and will probably continue to suffer from severe pain for another seven to 10 days as blood pooled under his brain dissolves. Michaels is a Type 1 diabetic, which limits the available options to ease discomfort."

Strange Flesh has checked in with the following update about canceling their previously scheduled performance on May 13th:
"Contrary to popular wit and wisdom, Strange Flesh have dropped off of the Ekotren show previously scheduled for Gils, now going forth at Buddahs. If you got a ticket from us (don't worry, we paid the promoter already), and your up for the trek to Newport News on a Thursday, please, by all means, emote with the suffered angst and kewl hairdos. We, however, tire easily of the long drives and lackluster turnouts these shows afford. Then when you mix in that we took the show simply because its 1/2 mile from our studio and now its 24 miles......well, we gotta call the corporate card. See ya'll when the beach gets cool again!"
Strange Flesh still has the following upcoming tour dates:
5/28 2010 HALFSHELL(OPEN FOR HELL WITHIN) VA BEACH, Virginia, US
7/20 2010 IRON MAIDEN-BRISTOW VA BRISTOW, US
8/5 2010 GERMANY WACKEN, DE
8/6 2010 GERMANY WACKEN, DE
8/7 2010 GERMANY WACKEN, DE

This week’s episode starts off in Donald Trump’s apartment. The place is as you would expect, it’s like standing inside a solid gold jewelry box. Having the group at his place inspires The Donald to get crazy and switch up the teams, moving Bret to work with Holly and Cyndi Lauper on team Tenacity, which is a little strange because Bret came up with the team name Rock Solid, and won two challenges with the team he is now being asked to leave. Oh, the drama of reality television… More...

French black metal act Aosoth has issued the following road report from their recent tour dates:
"First of all this report does represent ONLY the point of view of the writer, thus the ex vocalist of that band. I have to thank Hell Militia & Blacklodge for having offered us the opportunity to perform with Aosoth & getting us to witness us delivering hellish gigs 10 nights in a row. Thks to the Metal Kommand chief Steve for all his work & to Robert/Carsten for the time spent with them & the help given.
"Major issue we had on the tour now that all is over & done since weeks : we should have had a sound engineer with us on the tour & also have two guitar players on stage instead of just one. All performances ended up in having the very same issue : NOT representing the band & not listening to any request given to the sound engineer : - low vocals on stage requested, they should always be under the guitar & bass - that is my request as a vocalist & it has never been respected by those retards. - massive guitar sound from the moment we start & not a fucking volume leveled down since ‘the sound engineer’ thinks it's nicer that way & better to put vocals & drums / bass upfront - having monitors issues on stage : considering the venues & the equipment most of those place would have, wouldn't say much about it. Was mostly shit. More...

Katatonia drummer Daniel Liljekvist has checked in with the following new tour blog through Ultimate-Guitar.com:
"Monday 05 April 2010 DE / Frankfurt: Hang over de Luxe! Not really. Somehow I never seem to get a hangover, never did. Quiet in the bus today with the Finns not being around. Outside of the venue I bump into three men waiting to get their Katatonia CD's and vinyl's signed. It's a voluminous collection and I'm stuck there for a good ten minutes. Long sound check today which doesn't help much with this moronically un-concentrated band, me included. Restless times in the dressing room. I even deleted my MySpace account out of boredom. We all find it hard to get a boost before this gig as STS is not playing. Every show up until now we all kinda sync'd with the songs Swallow The Sun where playing to know when we should get dressed for our show.
"Like Sodo fixing the plasters for our in ears, when to put on the stage clothes...there were always songs in their set to let us know these things. Now when Long Distance Calling are playing we have no idea. I always help Jonas with his wireless pack on the last song STS play and we have this ritual when we sing along in Finnish (Swedish style. Very funny) and shake hands as we're going 'Tjanare.' Tonight it's all a mess but we manage to get dressed in time. Chaos. But the show went great, as usual, and we leave Frankfurt in our half empty bus. More...
Dutch metallers Persistense have issued the following statement about their recent tour dates in Germany:
"Hey folks, we're back from two days Germany and again we had a really great time in the land of Lederhosen, Mercedes and Bockwurst. We met a whole bunch of cool people and we'd like to thank all the bands we played with. Our special thanks goes out to the guys from Lunarsphere who arranged the whole thing for us. Thanks dudes, we're looking forward to see you guys again in July. Also a big thanks to all the people who showed up and banged their heads during our shows. We hope to come back someday!"
You can also check out Persistense tracks through the band's official MySpace page.
Poland's Stos has issued the following statement about bassist Janusz Soloma dying on stage on May 8th, 2010:
"The show of bands Animate, Stos and Crystal Viper scheduled for May 8, 2010 (Myslowice, Poland), will be remembered as one of the most sad and tragic ever. Janusz Soloma, the bass player of Stos, has died on stage in the middle of the show, after having heart attack. He was 48 years old. Janusz joined re-activated Stos in 2000, and played all the shows and recorded all the materials with the band since then. He joined on the other side the Stos guitarist Jan Kardas, who died in December 2006, after being diagnosed with cancer, earlier that year. In that case all gigs are canceled!"
Bart Gabriel (Stos' manager between 2000 and 2004, current Crystal Viper manager) of Hard Rocker Management also commented: "Sometimes words can't express the real feelings, and we still can't believe in what happened. We are sharing the sadness and tears with the friends and family of Janusz, and of course with his band mates from Stos. This is simply unreal."
Texas death metallers Decrepitaph have issued the following update about the band's recent activity:
"I am now drumming on the next Father Befouled album. The band is coming here to Texas at the end of this month and we are going to record their new album. I've heard demo/guitar versions of the songs, and I guarantee this album is going to destroy. I am also on a new FB 7" coming out soon on Nuclear War Now! as well. The new FB album will be coming this summer!
"The Decrepitaph - Conjuring Chaos MCD is being mixed right now. We had a slight delay in getting it done, but it is now underway. We chose Damian from Horrendous to mix this MCD for us since we are very impressed with his work and Patrick from Crypticus has his hands full with the new Beyond Hell and Scaremaker albums (that I am also drumming on). Conjuring Chaos will be limited to 500 copies and it will be coming in June on Archasm Releasing.
"We are going to be printing up some new shirts for this MCD, and we will also be offering a special limited time bonus for the first 50 people that order. Now, this won't be as crazy as our Beyond The Cursed Tombs package deal was, but it will still be really cool for the die hard fans. We expect a price around $17 US and $22 World for a CD/Shirt/Bonus deal. That is it for now. Hopefully we'll also have some updates on the three split 7"s we have coming out soon!"

Fusion metal band Exivious has issued the following announcement about deciding to call it a day:
"Dear Exivious community, for the first time since the release of our debut album back in May of 2009 I'm afraid we have to bring some really sad news. After careful consideration we decided to officially pull the plug on Exivious.
"It's not a secret that this band and the album we released last year are very dear to me personally, but also to the rest of the band who put in the best their talent and creativity had to offer to create something really unique. But besides our personal experience, we feel all of you out there who supported us the past year are part of our Exivious community as well and as such you guys deserve a proper explanation of what's happening.
"We're in a situation right now where we are simply unable to give Exivious the attention and love we believe it deserves. All four of us are completely consumed by other activities and it doesn't seem like this is going to change anytime soon. So instead of slowly letting our beloved band bleed to death, we rather put it to sleep ourselves. In retrospect, we were completely blown away by the overwhelmingly positive response from both our listeners but also the press who reviewed our album. Never did we expect to get such a warm and enthusiastic reaction to our crazy music. With this in mind we'd like to thank all of you who supported us by picking up a copy of our album in the past year! More...
Reactivated San Francisco Bay Area thrashers Forbidden continue their work at Sonic Room/Audio Voyage Studios in Livermore, California recording their fifth studio album, "Omega Wave." Guitarist Steve Smyth checks in with the following update:
"We began Day 3 going straight back into ‘Adapt Or Die,’ finishing up [the] layering and got done a few hours in. I decided to move into a track called ‘Swine’ next. ‘Swine’ is a little different from the rest of the tracks to me, a little more on the ‘doomy’ side of things, but it has more than a few surprises in there. I’m not going to give away too much here… you’ll have to wait for it!
"‘Swine’ has some cool odd-time stuff at the intro, Forbidden style, and well-arranged by Craig [Locicero] and Mark [Hernandez]! I sort of created the intro riff for this song by accident. Craig and I were jamming on some of the other songs one day, and I just happened to be noodling on something, not really thinking about anything, and he looked at me, and said ‘What’s that?! Play that again!’ I played it again, and we turned this from something completely unconscious on my part into the intro of the song pretty quickly! Mark and Craig brought some odd-time and arrangement ideas into it from there, and the rest of the song came right into it. More...
German heavy metal legends Accept has posted their new music video online for the song, "Teutonic Terror." You can check it out below. The song comes from the bands forthcoming new studio album, "Blood Of The Nations," which will be the first to feature new vocalist Mark Tornillo, formerly of TT Quick.
Speaking on the video, director David Blass stated: "We had all of these cool ideas for stories about a post apocalyptic world, hot girls in Mad Max gear and cool visuals and the more we worked it the more we kept coming back to the basics... this is Accept, not Motley Crue, there are people all over the world that have waited years to see this band again, and every second that we cut away to some story that is really just filler anyway, we are missing what is really important. People want to see Wolf Hoffmann shredding his flying V, they want to see new singer Mark Tornillo singing a new Accept song, and they want to see the band ripping into the new track. So I said screw the story, get me some fire, get me some tanks and lets rock it" More...

"Some of you might be curious what's on this 'bonus disc' we keep talking about. So here's a small preview. We still have a small handful of these double disc copies left, so don't wait if you want over 2 hours of extra footage."

Each week in "Unearthing the Metal Underground," we'll be putting the spotlight on a few quality underground bands in an attempt to get the word out. This week we’ll be uncovering three bands that aren’t connected by geographical location, but rather by their decision to go it alone as solo black metal musicians.
By eschewing the benefits and difficulties inherent to a full band, the solo black metal artist is completely unchained by outside influence. A one man black metal group is only constrained by the limitations of his own imagination to create exactly the sound and feel he wants in any release. With how it easy it has become to create a professional sounding release at home it shouldn’t be any surprise that creative minds would want to completely take the reins of their musical direction. Finland's Swallow the Sun has issued the following update about the band's Finnish and North American tour dates:
"We're back from the longest tour we've done so far, which consisted of touring Europe for 5 weeks with Katatonia and Long Distance Calling, and 4 weeks of touring North America with Finntroll and Moonsorrow. Big thanks to everyone who showed up at the shows and gave us their support, and especially to all the bands and the crew we toured with for making these two tours so special!
"Now that we're back, we're going to play a few shows in Finland in just a few weeks. The dates are: 21.5. Club Teatria, Oulu and 22.5. Tivoli, Rovaniemi
"In addition we have confirmed a show at our hometown venue Lutakko at 28th of August. This is a special occasion, as it also marks the 20th anniversary of Live Music Association of Jyväskylä. We're honoured to play there! And then something really, really cool! We're are proud and glad to announce that we'll be back to North America later this year, and this time it is with our long time friends from Katatonia! The other support act on the tour is Orphaned Land from Israel."

German pagan metal act Suidakra has checked in with the following update about the band's live activity and announcement about writing new material:
"Quite some time has passed since the last update. We have been in North America, which was great as always! Thanks to all of you who came out to the shows! We had a good time and hope to come back soon. Right now we're on the next tour already, riding through France and Switzerland. Check out the tour dates and come to the gigs if you can make it! Unfortunately the London show in June will go on without our participation due to organizational problems beyond our control. Sorry for that!
"Our 'Emprise To Avalon' album was re-released recently. Originally out on Century Media in the year 2002, 'Emprise' has surely become a SuidAkrA classic over the years. It was out of print for some time, but now you may purchase it here: Webshop Brandnew '15 Years anniversary' T-shirts are available as well! The best at the end: We started to write new music for the next album and have about 4 songs finished so far! Recording is supposed to start in December; we'll keep you updated."

Stone Sour, the band featuring Slipknot members Corey Taylor and James Root, has announced that the name of their new studio album will be, "Audio Secrecy." The band plan to perform some songs from the album when they head out on the Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival this summer. "Audio Secrecy" is the bands third studio album and succeeds the bands highly successful 2006 album, "Come What(ever) May."
"Audio Secrecy is the summation of everything we want, everything we crave and everything we fight for," says lead singer Corey Taylor. "The dimensions go further than anything we've ever tried before. It's metal, rock, slow, soft, hard, fast, bitter, beautiful and most importantly, it's REAL. You can't get an album like this out of a band that doesn't exist. We're throwing caution out the damn window."

Greek metallers Nightfall have returned with a new album titled "Astron Black & the Thirty Tyrants," which was recorded in various locations, with Soundlodge (Germany) being the main studio. It was produced by Efthimis Karadimas (Athenian Echoes) and co-produced by Jorg Uken (known from his work with God Dethroned, Dew Scented, and Sinister). The new album is 43 minutes long and consists of 12 tracks. A release date is expected to be announced soon. Nightfall also checked in with the following statement about the album:
"Mixing and mastering to follow right after promoting a Massive sound combining uniquely European roughness with US guitar expertise. Certainly an album not to miss. Official release planned for autumn 2010 worldwide, while an introductory video clip is expected to come forward in spring 2010 just to haunt your summer lull. Because the Tyrants were not dead, but only sleeping…
"Nightfall formed in 1991 in Athens and have released seven albums since then. After the temporary fold of their wings for a few moments-cum-years, they enter the scene again with a brand new opus under the magnificent title Astron Black & The Thirty Tyrants!"
American thrash metal legends Anthrax have surprised their fans by announcing that former lead singer Joey Belladonna, who sang for the band between 1985 and 1992, and once again during 2005 to 2007, has offically rejoined the band, putting to rest the expectation that John Bush was going to become a full time member once again.
"I am super excited about this," said guitarist Scott Ian. "Joey and the rest of the band came to see me play at a club in New York, I hadn't seen Joey for years, since the end of the reunion tour. Joey taps me on the shoulder, instant big hug, it felt like no time had gone by. The band dynamic is an interesting one - in Anthrax, Joey and I spent so many years of our lives together, we grew up together, we know each other so well, so it was like no time was lost. We've got an unusual luxury of hindsight. We finished an album a year ago, we've lived with those 12 songs since then, and we can look back on them and see what we really love and what we can make even better, especially with Joey back in the fold."
Belladonna added: "I had been in touch with Charlie and Frank, then I got a call from their manager who said that everyone wanted me back in the band. I thought, 'are you guys for real? You want me up there, fronting the band like it was before?' I was thrilled. We've already started to reconnect with the old ways of having conversations. Everything is easy going and feels really good."
"We're going to do these summer shows and gel as a band," explained Charlie Benante, "get comfortable playing with each other again, and the energy from that should go right into making new music."
Finnish black metal band Solium XI has issued the following new album update:
"A whole lot of issues are currently slowing down the progress of recording The legacy ov poison blood, mainly personal matters and lack of full-time vocalist, and therefore it may take awhile until we can present anything definitive to the public. It is yet uncertain when the recordings of Tlopb will be completed, but the goal is to have the opus recorded during this spring/early summer. However, the next album is worth the wait, so remain patient, nobody else wants this album finished as much as we do! The victory will taste better when it is behind struggle and hardships!"
Massachusetts-based death/doom metal band Shroud of Bereavement has issued the following band update:

If anyone is interested in auditioning for the synth position, try outs will be held on Wed nights from 7:30 to 10:00, please contact me here or on my personal page."
Seattle melodic death metal band Shaded Enmity has issued the following studio update:
"All right, so we're back at Two Sticks Audio. The day started up at about 9, with getting tones / mic positions / etc for the drums. At about 945 we started up recording, Simon ripped through five songs between 1000 and 1245. Spent some time going through the songs and verifying that all sounded good, discussing drum tones and more. After the break, Joe recorded a two tracks on rhythm guitar and lead. After that, a quick update was done to some of the gear here and we're back to Simon recording drums with three songs left to go. Further updates coming as soon as we have something else to update you folks with!"
