Founding members of the seminal Goth/Punk band CHRISTIAN DEATH, under the name CD1334, will be performing the landmark first album ONLY THEATRE OF PAIN at the SHOCK-N-ROLL SPOOKTACULAR, part of the FANGORIA WEEKEND OF HORRORS Friday May 18 at the Burbank Airport Marriott Hotel at 9PM. The show will be an all ages event with a bar for the over 21 crowd.
2007 marks the 25th anniversary of the ONLY THEATRE OF PAIN album and founding members George Belanger, James McGearty and Rikk Agnew wanted to do something special for the occasion. Since singer Rozz Willaims had sadly passed away , the band enlisted Williams’ ex-wife Eva O. to sing the songs and added guitarist Jaime Pina and keyboardist Le Rue De Lashay to flesh out the sound while appearing under the new name CD 1334. Belanger had to drop out due to family matters and former Williams’ associate Christian Omar Madrigal Izzo was brought in on drums.
Frontier Records has pressed a limited silver anniversary edition of the vinyl that will only be available when the band plays this year. The band’s performance at the Henry Fonda Theatre last month was a highly emotional event with people flying in from all over the world to experience the original members re-creating the magik of what a CHRISTIAN DEATH concert was like while pushing it into a new era. The band will be performing the album in its entirety as well as the songs from Hell Comes To Your House and the Deathwish e.p. as well a new song titled “Rites”.
Artists Following in the footsteps of bands such as DECAPITATED, VADER, WITCHMASTER and ANIMA DAMNATA, UK Black/Death Battalion SPEARHEAD have announced plans to enter Poland’s Hertz Recording Studios in June/July of this year to record their next album.
This will be the sophomore release for the band, whose debut album, “Deathless Steel Command”, appeared in 2005. “When The Pillars Fall”, a promo EP of demo tracks from the forthcoming album, and was released in 2006 as a “taster” and can be heard on the band’s official MySpace page at www.myspace.com/spearheadofficial.

DIMMU BORGIR has entered the Norwegian album chart at No. 1 with its latest effort, "In Sorte Diaboli" — the first time a black metal act has ever topped a national album chart anywhere in the world. SATYRICON's "Now, Diabolical" and DIMMU BORGIR's last release, "Death Cult Armageddon", previously reached the No. 2 position on the Norwegian album chart.
DIMMU BORGIR's chart-topper comes just a week after "In Sorte Diaboli" reached No. 43 on The Billboard 200, making them the first Norwegian band since the Eighties pop act A-HA to crack the U.S. Top 50, reports the Norwegian music industry weekly Faro Journalen.
Stein Ostbo reviewed "In Sorte Diaboli" for Norway's biggest daily newspaper Verdens Gang (VG), and gave it the highest possible rating (6 out of 6). He says DIMMU BORGIR's No. 1 is nothing less than the most radical achievement in the history of the Norwegian charts.
"Because of the black metal genre's extreme expression, I would characterize this as the most astonishing thing that has ever happened on the Norwegian charts," he says.
Espen Solheim Røhne at Indie Distribution, which handles Nuclear Blast Records' releases in Norway, says the label expected to have a No. 1 album with DIMMU BORGIR's latest. He says the company decided to start advertising on TV earlier than originally planned, and if the album continues to sell well in its second week, they will buy more TV spots for "In Sorte Diaboli".
"We are in discussion with cable network TV 3 to buy more airtime from them, but we will continue advertising on TV through the end of May, no matter what happens," he says.
Solheim Rohne says the No. 1 is especially impressive when you consider the competition.
"When you watch TV in the evening, it seems like there are MIKA and ELTON JOHN spots in every commercial break," he explains. "This achievement with DIMMU BORGIR is exactly what everybody in this business is striving for: release good records that sell well, and when you reach No. 1 it's just perfect."
The CD also sold extremely well in such countries as Sweden, Finland, Austria and Switzerland, and last week reached No. 43 on the American Billboard chart. Unfortunately, the Norwegian band can forget about achieving the same results in England. More...
A studio mix of another new GUNS N' ROSES song, "There Was a Time", was leaked on Sunday, May 6, making it the fourth new GN'R track in two days to be released via the Internet ("The Blues", "Chinese Democracy" and "I.R.S." were leaked two days earlier). "There Was a Time" (also known as "T.W.A.T.") was played live only twice — at the first New York City warm-up show on May 12, 2006 and Madrid, Spain on May 25, 2006 — and was mentioned as one of GN'R singer Axl Rose's favorites in an interview he gave to Rolling Stone magazine in January 2006. All tracks are rumored to be set for inclusion on GUNS N' ROSES' upcoming album "Chinese Democracy".
"Chinese Democracy" is the first GUNS N' ROSES album since the 1993 covers collection "The Spaghetti Incident". In the ensuing decade, the group has lost every original member besides singer Axl Rose and burned through a reported $13 million in recording expenses.
Longtime GUNS N' ROSES associate Del James revealed in a February 2007 online posting that "Chinese Democracy" was in the "mixing" stage.
GUNS N' ROSES has announced that the band's 2007 world tour will begin on June 2 in Monterrey, Mexico. Launch dates in South Africa and Japan were bumped due to a wrist injury sustained by bassist Tommy Stinson.

Harakiri have posted the following update regarding the addition of their new singer:
"First of all, many thanks to all of the people who submitted for the harakiri vocalist position. We received some good submissions, and we really want to thank those who took the time for this. This was a very hard thing for us to do, and a tough decision to make. We love Matt as a friend and a vocalist, but we had to move on as 'kiri is still in our blood. We weren't looking for a weak imitation of Matt or someone trying to clone him otherwise. We were looking for someone with strong vocals, a vicious attack, and the ability to write interesting and intelligent lyrics. In our opinion the new guy would have some big shoes to fill. At this time, We'd like to announce Aaron Davis as the new member of Harakiri. His vocals, lyrics, confidence, and enthusiasm grabbed our attention from the beginning. I know its hard to add a new member to any band, especially a vocalist position, but we are confident he is more than capable of the job. Now hopefully he can put up with our shit. Please welcome Aaron to the band!" More...

Saturday May 9 I had the opportunity to sit down and get in the head of the frontwoman of one of the most politically active bands to date. I interviewed Otep Shamaya of the band that bares her name, the awesome Otep. The interview went very well, I discovered we share the same political views and that their new album is definately going to be their best to date. Otep was very down to earth, personabale, and overall amazing person to talk with. The interview is as follows: More...

The upcoming release of UK death metal giants Akercocke’s latest album ‘Antichrist’ has caused uproar amongst Northern Ireland’s religious community, and is set to be the subject of a major religious debate live on BBC1 Northern Ireland.
The overtly satanic content contained within ‘Antichrist’ has come under attack by religious forces, leading to the band's vocalist Jason Mendonca facing a head- to-head live TV debate that will air on BBC1’s ‘Nolan Live’ show. The debate will be broadcast live via satellite link at 10.45pm on BBC Northern Ireland following Akercocke’s gig on May 16th at Nottingham’s Rock City. This meeting of minds is sure to stir waves of controversy ahead of their show in Belfast on May 18th and Dublin on May 19th, and with the ‘Antichrist’ misson statement in full force, Akercocke are sure to voice their closely held satanic beliefs.
To find out more about ‘Antichrist’ and to listen exclusively to the track ‘Summon The Antichrist’ that has ignited this controversy, head over to the band's MySpace page.
‘Antichrist’ will be released in the UK on Earache Records on Monday May 28th (UK) and on July 17th in the USA.

Sydney, Australia-based metallers DAYSEND will release their sophomore album, "The Warning", on May 28 through Faultline Records/Stomp Distribution. The follow-up to 2003's "Severance", was produced by dw Norton at Backbeach Recording Studios in Victoria, Australia and marks the band's first release with vocalist Mark McKernan. A song from the effort, entitled "No Regrets", is available for streaming on the band's MySpace page.
Commented bassist Meredith Webster: "The songs are definitely in a heavier vein than 'Severance', but we have by no means lost the melodic touch. We've had a pretty full on few years, and it was bound to show in our music — the whole writing and recording process has been pretty cathartic for us all. We are going to bleed these tunes when we take to the stage again!" More...

The track 'Deeprooted' from the new Manes album 'How the world came to an end' is now available for listening at the bands official MySpace profile.
This song will also be released as a part of an iTunes only release due out monday 14th of May. The tracklisting for the 'Deeprooted' webrelease is:
- Deeprooted (edit)
- Deeprooted (fox treatment)
- The cure-all (lost time mix)
Comments the band: "The 'fox treatment' remix of Deeproted is more complex and fragmented than the original, but maybe even heavier and more beatdriven at the same time. The "lost time" remix of 'The cure-all' is done by RachMiel who may be known to those who reads his monthly columns in Computer Music or Electronic Musician. There he writes about alternative ways of structuring music and stuff like experimenting with time and silence. Very cool stuff indeed. His remix is basically based around trying to remove the aspect of time from the music, and letting it move more free in form. Something we find very facinating and has ended in a really great remix."
The new Manes album 'How the world came to an end' is out now on Candlelight Records.
