Every week Metalunderground.com checks in with musicians and fans to get their most memorable Pit Stories. Today, drummer Will Green from Ohio act Set to Reflect shares the following story about an unfortunate fan failing to pull of a back flip during a Burden of a Day set at the Cornerstone festival:
July 2nd, 2009. It was the most humid 105 degree Illinois day I'd ever lived through, and being smashed together between the 20,000 people at Cornerstone festival was not helping the already over-heated situation. I noticed one extremely lanky, yet absurd kid as I stood on the edge of the pit and watched everyone throw down to Burden of a Day. He was pulling out all the moves. Picking up the change, Windmills, spin kicks... you name it, he was performing it. The band's fantastic live presence only escalated the energy in the pit, and by midway through the show, he was acting more insane than anyone I've seen to this day. That was when it happened...
The next thing I know, the kid is jumping near the edge of the stage and doing a back-flip off... at least, half of a back-flip. As he landed awkwardly, you could see the bone pop out of his leg. His shin acted as if it were a third knee, and the look of shock on his face said it all. It was apparent that no one there had ever seen anything so gruesome in real life, as it took a full minute for anyone to come to his aid due to the immediate surprise of what had just occurred.
Once we were done lifting him and helping him to the outskirts of the tent, the paramedics arrived and carted him off. The image, however, is forever burned into my memory.
Set to Reflect's latest EP "A New Path To Walk On" is out now through Standby Records. For more info on the band, head over to the Set to Reflect Facebook profile here.

Domestic Genocide Records is pleased to welcome progressive post black metal project Desiderium to the label's eclectic roster of sonic devastation. Domestic Genocide comments:
"Defined as an ardent longing, as for something lost, Desiderium paints beautifully ugly portraits of sound. Founded in late 2010 in Cary, North Carolina by Michael Rumple (Súl ad Astra, ex-Acrasia), Desiderium was initially forged as a solo project but later morphed into a small revolving collective of sound revolutionists.
"Though rooted in black metal, the band incorporates a host of genres from black metal and progressive rock to death metal and dream pop into meticulously crafted cathartic hymnals that are at once scathing yet serene."
Desiderium's debut LP, a concept album entitled "Sunless Meridian," will see release through Domestic Genocide later this year. Produced by Chris Kelhey at Rivalry Sound, "Sunless Meridian" features Rumple alongside guitarist Zach Dresher, bassist Blake Privette. and drummer Dylan Donegan (drums).

Acclaimed Norwegian prog metal band Leprous is getting ready to release new album "Coal" on May 28th in North America and May 20th in Europe via InsideOut Music. "Coal" was produced by Heidi Solberg Tveitan & Vegard Tveitan of Mnemosyne, and Jens Bogren & Tony Lindgren mixed and mastered the album at Fascination Street Studios.
Leprous has now launched the first album track today via HeavyBlogIsHeavy.com. Listen to "Chronic" at this location or through the player below.
Leprous singer / synth-player Einar Solberg comments about the song: "We're delighted to finally be able to give you the first taste of our upcoming album 'Coal!' 'Coal' is a melancholic, soulful and very dynamic album. Where 'Bilateral' was playful and 'in-your face,' 'Coal' is subtle and floating. 'Chronic' however, is of the more dynamic songs of the album. With a heavy basis, the song pinches a nerve Leproushas never before explored." More...
When Vicious Rumors returned from a long and strenous world tour in autumn 2011, the musicians - least of all band mastermind and main songwriter Geoff Thorpe - couldn't really see themselves mustering the energy to release a new studio album in the foreseeable future.
"2011 was a monster year for Vicious Rumors in the most positive sense of the word," he says, looking back at that time with surprise and some satisfaction. "We were on the road non-stop for more or less eight months, played countless club shows and performed at some of the most important festivals worldwide. The last show of the tour took place as part of the 70,000 Tons Of Metal cruise - what a finale! Then everything was over very suddenly and we started to work on our new album without so much as a break. Perhaps you can imagine how difficult that was and how much concentration we needed to do that kind of work without any loss of friction."
Now the result of that big challenge is scheduled for release: Vicious Rumors will unleash "Electric Punishment" April 29th in Europe and May 7th in the US/Canada via SPV/Steamhammer.
Thorpe refers to the album as an "impressive double bass thunder, double guitar attacks and haunting vocals the way you only get them with this band." At the same time, the ten new songs are reportedly more multi-layered and diverse than the material on its 2011 predecessor. "While Razorback Killers was heavy all the way through from start to finish, the new material is more in the vein of Word Of Mouth," Thorpe explains. More...

Sweden's pioneers of twisted melodic death metal Ceremonial Oath will release their debut album, "The Book Of Truth," as a digital download in North America on April 16th via Century Media Records.
Besides the album tracks found on "The Book Of Truth," this download will also include all tracks from the super rare demos, "Wake The Dead" and "Black Sermon" (on which Ceremonial Oath was still performing under the band's previous moniker Desecrator), as well as the two tracks from the "Lost Name Of God" 7" (originally released on Corpse Grinder Records in 1992). The following press release was also issued:
"The Book Of Truth doesn't follow the usual melodic approach that many bands from the Gothenburg scene established during the heyday of the scene from 1994-1999. Being neither pure Gothenburg melodic death metal nor typical old school Swedish death metal in the Stockholm vein, but more a fine mélange of both worlds, spiced-up with some technical finesse a la Morbid Angel and Nocturnus, The Book Of Truth has justly become a classic death metal album. To this day, the sound of Ceremonial Oath has remained surprisingly fresh and unique." More...
Revelation's Hammer has revealed the last details about an upcoming self-titled debut album. The album's release date is set for June 3rd, 2013 and will be released and distributed worldwide through My Kingdom Music. The track listing is as follows:

The album reflects my development as a musician throughout the years. It sure means a lot to me, considering all the time and energy I've spent on it. The lyrics are in both English and Norwegian, and I think of each of the songs as very personal, yet the album as a whole. I am really looking forward to our release on June 3rd, 2013. Additionally, I'm finally able to continue on the writing of our next opus." More...
Spanish power metal act Dark Moor have revealed the album artwork and title for the long awaited follow up to the 2010 release "Ancestral Romance." The new album will be entitled "Ars Musica," and will be issued on June 18, 2013 via Scarlet Records. The artwork for the release can be viewed below.
The band's announcement reads: "Symphonic Power Metal masters Dark Moor are glad to announce the release of their new album 'Ars Musica', following the success of their previous, critically acclaimed effort 'Ancestral Romance'. Dark Moor have taken another step forward in their career, forging a more identifiable sound and expanding their songwriting in multiple directions. They still pay homage to the Spanish cultural heritage in songs such as 'First Lance Of Spain', ‘Gara & Jonay’ and ‘El Último Rey’, but elsewhere they go more personal, still giving high priority to their trademark melodies and elaborate harmonies. Talented singer Alfred Romero offers his best performance to date, whilst orchestrations are less classical and more grandiose and epic. "The guys have reached out to help in anyway they can which I can’t thank them enough. I’m truly blessed to have them as a family, so as I start my road to recovery I send this message to all of you and thank you for all the support, It’s time to take my life in my hands and take responsibility, I will not be attending the Juno Awardss ceremony in two weeks for Ex Deo nominations but I will close my contract with the shows in May that are left, Extremefest, Beastival in Germany and Metalfest Czech Rep will be my last shows until I’m ready again to come back in full form, you guys deserve the best of me.
