Mutiny Within have documented their road to tour and release in 2010 since signing with Roadrunner Records in 2008, and are rolling out a weekly webisode showcasing their steps and tribulations along the way. Swedish melodic metal band AUDIOVISION has released their video for the track "Invitation" online. Western Massachusetts' THE ACACIA STRAIN has set the dates to record the follow up to their 2008 release, the highly successful "Continent.” The band will be returning to track the new record with Zeuss at Planet Z Studios in Hadley, MA, where they recorded “Continent,” on April 14th.
Vocalist Vincent Bennett commented, “It's been a long time coming. It’s going to be hard to follow ‘Continent,’ but I'm confident that everyone will be as pleased with this record as we are. With this album we're not trying to reinvent the wheel, per say, but prove ourselves viable in today's music scene."
"Written and (to be) recorded in its entirety on 8 string guitars, this record will be the heaviest record of 2010, hands down."
Bennett added, "This is not the heaviest record EVER written, but it IS the heaviest ACACIA STRAIN record to date."
Guitarist Mikey from the Las Vegas metal band Taking Dawn has issued the following update:
"Uncle Mikey checking in from the drive. On our way to leeds back from Scotland. We had a killer fucking time in Scotland. Since we had a day off in Edinburgh we got to take in some of the sites and roam around the town like the jerkoffs that we are. The sights are unreal with the old castles and churches.. shit we never get to see back home. Alan bought a sword from some gypsy on the street and he almost got arrested for carrying it around town. Apparently you cant carry around deadly battle weapons… what kind of crazy fuckin law is that? Luckily they let him off but he had to go put the sword back. We are still wondering how we are going to get it through customs. Or maybe on the plane in case there are ay terrorists…we will be able to cut their fucking heads off."
"The crazy motherfuckers in Scotland really like to rock and they have badass accents. Sounding like pirates and shit. I'm gonna try to pick up the accent, I think it will help me get pussy. I need all the help I can get." More...

Ireland's For Ruin has issued the following update about canceling the band's previously announced U.K. tour dates with Belphegor:
"We are extremely sorry to say that we could not risk traveling to the UK today for our 4 originally scheduled shows with Belphegor. These shows were, it seems, far from being a priority for the booking agent and the Peterborough show was the first to be canceled. Last night we packed the gear and were at rehearsals only to get word that Leeds had been pulled leaving the Thurs (Camden) and Sunday (Plymouth) shows remaining, 4 days apart. The advice to us was that these are unlikely to go ahead and so much traveling would not be justified for such a short set in Camden so we decided to to travel and take the hit on what we had already invested in traveling to these shows.
"Its no understatement to say that we are very disappointed that we couldn't play these shows - a lot of work had to be done to get them arranged and to have everyone available to play them. But these things happen all the time and there's not much we can do about it. Playing other shows in the UK before the end of year will be difficult due to scheduling but we'll try to swing something. There was a lot of people coming to see the shows, review the shows, conduct interviews etc. and all that stuff - apologies to you."
Guitarist Craig Locicero of Forbidden has issued the following fourth blog from their recording sessions:
"Monday March 15th: The day started by finishing 'Immortal Wounds' from the night before. Once the was finished we jumped into a song called 'Behind The Mask'. It is the first collaboration of riffs that [Forbidden guitarist Steve] Smyth and I put together. It was a dark horse going into the record, but I think it's a really good song. At times it reminds me at times of 'Step By Step' [a track off of Forbidden’s 1990 Twisted Into Form album] and Russ [Anderson, vocalist] wrote a great melody for it and it has an amazing clean/flamenco section in the middle section after a Steve [Smyth] solo that really shines, very melodic. The chorus is monster! More...

Guitarist Sander van der Meer of Leaves' Eyes has checked in from the road with the following tour report:
"Hello all! Now we found a working internet connection again, a new sign of life from the road. The last days were filled with adventure and challenge….. Switzerland/France: We had an awesome show at the Z7 venue in Pratteln/Switzerland. Super nice venue which is always a pleasure to play. Unfortunately we had a stroke of bad luck later that night. It became clear that our tourbus had multiple problems, which made it unsafe to drive any further and left us with a huge problem: ' how to get to Montpellier France the next day…..'
"Without a quick solution, there was a real danger of having to cancel our appearance there. For us, canceling the show was not an option. Luckily the awesome Z7 crew helped us out by arranging a sprinter bus with two of their security officers driving us to Montpelier! Big thanks go out to Norbert and all at Z7, what you did for us was just amazing! After an approximately eight hour drive we arrived at the venue, and in 'speedstaging style' we set and entered the stage within 15 minutes! Thanks to our awesome crew we made it! Right after the show we jumped back into the car and met up with our new tour bus. More...

Also a big thanks for the venues, crews and the people who showed up at those gigs. On the 8th and 9th of May we'll do some more shows in Germany together with Lunarsphere.

Guitarist Ross Robinson, drummer Dennis Butler, bass player Steve Hochheiser and singer Dawn Crosby (r.i.p.) started the band in 1984. Their first album, 'Recognize No Authority' was released in '86 and still has a cult status among thrash metal / punk fans. In 2007 3 original band members reignited the album by releasing a reissue. Together with vocalist Ann Boleyn (Hellion) they played a lot of gigs ao The Headbangers Open Air festival. Now, the band has found a permanent singer in Tiina Teal, and they will release their new album 'Decline' any moment now. We are very proud and thankful to have the privilege of supporting Détente at their kick-off shows! Come and check us out in Den Haag, Tilburg, Eindhoven or Antwerpen."

German progressive metallers The Ocean are streaming their new album "Heliocentric" for 48 hours only on MetalSucks. The stream started just after midnight last night and will be posted until 11:59pm EDT on Friday, April 9th.
The Ocean is releasing two albums in 2010 - the first being "Heliocentric," which streets on April 13th, and the second being Anthropocentric, due out in the fall 2010. The concept at the base of both albums is a critique of Christianity from different philosophical and personal angles.
"Heliocentric" will come in a lavish and unusual digipak packaging. The album artwork and packaging are reflecting the Heliocentric-theme, the idea that the sun, rather than the earth, is at the center of our planetary system. Robin Staps discusses the packaging: "The European version is a digipak with 3 revolving PVC-dials in different sizes attached to the front side with a screw: the center dial shows the sun. The second dial shows the orbits of the planet, the outer dial shows the zodiacs. The dials are transparent, so you can see the background through, a starry night sky, on which a star-chart is printed in a special color varnish.
"The US version doesn't have these dials, the artwork is silver hot foil-stamped instead. Inside the digipak of both versions there will be 8 cards, one for every (non-instrumental) song, with images by Portuguese painter and philosopher Francisco de Hollanda printed on one side and the lyrics on the backside.
"While the songs, art and lyrics of Heliocentric tell the story of the rise of the heliocentric world view and its effects on Christian belief from medieval times to Darwin and Dawkins, Anthropocentric challenges the views of creationists and other modern fundamentalists who still believe that the earth is at the center of the universe."
Musically, "Heliocentric" covers the largest range of dynamics and styles to date: "There are a few really calm songs with mainly piano and vocals, as well as some crushing heavy tunes. There is a very special atmosphere to it that pervades the album", comments guitarist Jonathan Nido.
"Our new vocalist Loic Rossetti has immensely widened the musical spectrum of this band and there are some songs on the album that even those people who have conceived of this band as being unpredictable and daring would have never imagined", adds Robin Staps. "But this is exactly what makes it a 150% The Ocean album".
Heliocentric continues where the Proterozoic half of the "Precambrian" album left off, with dense, epic songs and big orchestrations. "Anthropocentric" is going to be a bit more straight forward rocking and technical, whilst tapping the full dynamic range from acoustic pieces to eclectic heaviness as well.
The albums were mainly recorded in the mountainous isolation of La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, the highest city of Europe. The band decided to record and mix the album with the band's house sound engineer Julien Fehlmann: "We wanted to be in control of every single detail, and we have an amazing studio at hand here. Sound wise this is by far the best-sounding album we have done to date".
Fans can now pre-order "Heliocentric" as just the CD or in a CD/t-shirt package. A special vinyl box 2x LP edition with revolving sun and planet-dials will be available soon from pelagic-records.com.
Here's the "Heliocentric" track listing:
3. The First Commandment of the Luminaries
4. Ptolemy Was Wrong
5. Metaphysics of the Hangman
6. Catharsis of a Heretic
