DEAD TO FALL, the Chicago- and Minneapolis-based deathcore band, has officially split up.
Commented vocalist Jonathan Hunt: "DEAD TO FALL is no more. After nine years, it's time to say goodbye. There really isn't an easy way to say this, but the DEAD TO FALL machine broke beyond repair this last weekend. I guess the financial, personal, and emotional strains wore some of us down and caused a violent collapse."
"After a show in Wisconsin, Logan [Kelly, guitar] and Chad [M. Fjerstad, bass] quit this past weekend. I won't go into the whole 'behind-the-music-band-break-up' scenario, but it was a night filled with retarded actions and words. The rest of us don't want to go through yet another major lineup change and really are just ready for a new chapter in our lives."
"The Supermassive Fist tour with IMPENDING DOOM, ARSONISTS GET ALL THE GIRLS and SEA OF TREACHERY is continuing on without us. We have no idea if we are going to play a last show or not, but at this point there is nothing planned." More...
The following report is courtesy of Blic Online:
The agency Lupa, organizer of the concert, explained that the agent of the band KISS informed them about the concert cancellation, explaining that it was due to political situation, which reminded them of their previous stay in Belgrade, especially because of the forthcoming elections in Serbia.
“The members of the band regret to inform you that the concert has to be cancelled, but the situation in Serbia does not leave them much choice. However, they hope they will perform in Serbia on some other occasion,” it has been stated in organizers’ report. They also added that management of the popular American hard rock band did not explain the reasons, nor what exactly happened during their stay in Belgrade.

"We parted ways friendly," Gus said. "It has been an overwhelming experience to fill David Readman's shoes and I will take with me the great people I met on the road, the friends I made during this period, the countries I have visited. French black/death metallers BLOODY SIGN will tour the Balkans and Eastern Europe this month alongside AGONIZE.
Commented BLOODY SIGN guitarist Kalevi Uibo: "We're very proud to announce that we'll tour in April in the Balkanic area/ Eastern Europe, some of the most brutal audiences in all of Europe. We toured there three years ago, and we have such great memories from the gigs and from the metal maniacs over there. We cannot wait to go back and play our guts out every night. The tour will cross countries like Bosnia, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Romania, Turkey and many more, and we'll destroy the stages with our great friends from the Bosnian band AGONIZE."
John McEntee (INCANTATION) from BLOODY SIGN's record label Ibex Moon Records commented: "BLOODY SIGN has been establishing themselves as one of the premier death metal acts in the worldwide underground scene. They have transcended all the metal trends and have been keeping the cult of death metal alive. I have played many shows with them, and BLOODY SIGN live are a force to be reckoned with." More...

Nick's first show was on April 5 at the sold-out Black N' Blue Bowl in Brooklyn, NY."
INHUMAN's latest album, "Last Rites", was released in October 2007. The CD was recorded last year at The Wild Arctic studio by Dean Baltulonis, who has worked with SICK OF IT ALL, MOST PRECIOUS BLOOD and MADBALL.

HARKONIN, the St. Louis, Missouri-based "blackened war metal" act featuring former EULOGY drummer Clayton Gore, has uploaded a new song entitled "Chaos Anthem" to the group's MySpace page. The demo recording is a sample of the new material the band is working on for the group's as-yet untitled new album, to be released in early 2009 via Battlegod Productions.
Commented Gore: "The song was recorded in our home studio using an electronic drum kit, so it's far from a final product."
He added: "We have been getting quite a few questions about our status since the February release of our album 'Ghanima' on Battlegod. People seem to be confused that Battlegod is reissuing our 2006 effort rather than new material initially, so we wanted to share something from our pre-production demos with everyone.
"We are absolutely still active! We plan to enter the studio later this year to begin recording. We already have seven songs complete. This is just to give everyone a little taste of what we're up to."
Battlegod Productions recently signed a North American distribution agreement with Century Media. The label is distributed elsewhere in the world via Twilight-Vertrieb.

AXEL RUDI PELL's new album will be released by SPV in Germany on October 24 and in the rest of Europe on October 27. Release dates for other territories will be confirmed very soon.

With extreme metal being one of the more "theatrical sounding" types of rock music out there, it's a bit puzzling why more of these types of bands don't pop up in movie soundtracks.
But perhaps the tide is changing, as evidenced by the presence of IMMORTAL DOMINION throughout the movie "Teeth". After the band's distributor, Fist Music/Hapi Skratch Entertainment, hooked them up with the filmmakers, IMMORTAL DOMINION was asked to contribute a total of five songs to the soundtrack. The film won a juror's award for best actress at the Sundance Film Festival, and was then purchased by Lionsgate/The Weinstein Company.
The film was released nationwide in February via Roadside Attractions (and will be released on DVD on May 6, via Dimension Extreme), and has created a buzz around IMMORTAL DOMINION, on the strength of the instantly memorable song "Sold My Soul". More...

Royal Anguish has sent in an update on their recording progress and more:
"First and foremost, the recording process for our upcoming CD The Grand Deception is moving forward full steam. As many of your know, the original production of this CD saw recording start last summer. Unfortunately the recordings were not coming along as anticipated, so we made the decision to blow the whole thing up and start from scratch once we had resolved the issues that had hindered the original sessions.
"After reassessing our processes and songwriting, we "restarted" the process in December of 2007 with a new outlook, and we are happy to report that we have a large portion of the process complete. We are deep into the guitar and keyboard tracking and hope to have a few advance / rough versions up on the web for all to hear in the not too distant future. We are much happier with the path the CD has taken and we are very eager to get new tracks out to the masses so that we can officially start the newest chapter of RA’s existence."
The CD currently is slated to have 11 songs (plus an opening). The song titles are as follows:
DAWN OF THE NEW AGE (intro)
ONLY THE WEAK SURVIVE
PLEASE EDUCATE ME
INTO THE WILDERNESS
THY PALE EXISTENCE
SULLEN EYES REVISITED
BLOOD ON YOUR HANDS
DIRT AT YOUR FEET
THE GRAND DECEPTION
"We also are proud to announce that MORPHIA’s frontman Jasper Pietersen will make a guest appearance on the title track of our CD. Jasper’s a great guy and we couldn’t be any happier finding a way to include him on this project. We have multiple other guest appearances lined up, but we’ll wait until we have the tracking done and in hand before making those official announcements.
"Lastly we'd like to give a shout out to our bassist Sean Tibbetts who once again will be out on the road with KAMELOT during the upcoming European tour. I think everyone (in both bands) is keeping their fingers crossed that Sean returns back without any injuries this time (last KAMELOT tour he blew his knee out during the first bar of the first song of the first show... yeeeouch!). Please check the KAMELOT website for tour dates and make sure to come out and show support!"

DEFTONES will enter a Sacramento, California studio later this month with producer Terry Date (SOUNDGARDEN, PANTERA) and engineer Scott Olson (DEFTONES, UNEARTH) to begin recording the band's sixth studio album, "Eros", tentatively due before the end of the year.
Commented frontman Chino Moreno: "So these past few weeks have been just a little barbarous for us as we get closer to the actual recording part of this record. April 14th is our official start date. Our longtime producer Terry Date graced us with a short visit early last week to hear the songs and do some pre-production. Now it's pretty much crunch hour trying to stick with our plan to have everything written before we start tracking the drums. Hard for me to describe what this record will sound like. So far, it's shaping up to be our most unorthodox piece of work, not only sound-wise but the way a lot of the songs have come about. There is also some of that good old 'fuck you, I hope you die!' aggression I know a lot of you love and miss from us." More...
