According to MelodicRock.com, OVERDRIVE - the legendary Swedish '80s metal band which reunited in 2003 - is currently in the studio with producer Johan Blomstrom (BLINDED COLONY, KAPTAIN SUN) recording its new album, "Let The Metal Do The Talking" - the group's first since 1984. The CD will be released by Lion Music in the fall.
OVERDRIVE's current lineup features original members Janne Stark on guitar, Kjell Jacobsson on guitar, Kenth Ericsson on bass and Kenta Svensson on drums, alongside singer Per Karlsson (ex-UNCHAINED). "Let The Metal Do The Talking" will feature reworked versions of tracks - "Gravy Train", "Let The Metal Do The Talking", "Reincarnation Part 1-5", "Trapped Under Ice" and "Sinister Warfare" - written way back in 1985 for what was to be the third OVERDRIVE album. The new songs, such as "Chasing Highways", follow in the same vein. "Kenth has written an as-yet-untitled number that will make fans of heavy tracks like 'Burn In Hell' drool," says the band.
Drummer Paul Bostaph (SLAYER, TESTAMENT, FORBIDDEN, SYSTEMATIC) has issued a statement regarding his recent departure from EXODUS and his future plans.
Commented Paul: "As you all have already heard (and in case some have not), I have parted ways with EXODUS. They now have their original drummer Tom Hunting back in the band. I always said from the start if Tom ever wanted to come back, the drum throne is his. I have the greatest repect for Tom and his playing. He is truly a thrash legend. Thanks to the EXODUS guys for the fun ride. I'm sure the new record will kick ass! As for me, I'm looking for gigs and or a new band to work with."
In other news, Paul is no longer an endorser for Tama Drums. He is now proud to represent Sonor Drums and their products.
EXODUS recently completed a European headlining tour in support of its latest CD, "Shovel Headed Kill Machine", which was released in October 2005 via Nuclear Blast Records. Recorded at Trident studios in Pacheco, California and mixed by Andy Sneap (SABBAT, MACHINE HEAD, ARCH ENEMY), the follow-up to 2004's "Tempo of the Damned" was the band's first album to feature Lee Altus (guitar; HEATHEN), Paul Bostaph and Rob Dukes (vocals).
Roy Kristensen of Imhotep webzine recently conducted an interview with DIMMU BORGIR guitarists Galder and Silenoz. A few excerpts from the chat follow:
On the new album's concept:
Galder: "I thought it would be a greater challenge writing lyrics based upon my own story. The lyrics can be regarded as journals depending on where the main character is. The lyrics are a continuation of the background story which will be included in the booklet as well. I think it was an interesting process creating the story. I neither knew how it would end nor how I was going to tie up the loose ends. It was cool watching "the movie" as it moved on, it was actually a motivating factor that made me work even harder. I wanted to create an overall feeling of completion.
Silenoz: "We have always been visual, and we intend do to likewise this time as well. We've made a new video, where we've tried to view the whole story, obviously in a shorter version. In the end, the main character will have to pay for his decisions different as he is. In that sense you can relate the story to today's society. You will also recognize some of the Bible gospels, just consider the way Lucifer was cast away. Due to his differences he became a threat to God. Even if the story is set in the Middle Ages, it can easily be related to today's society. The Middle Ages was a period of changes, just think about the art of printing and the importance of religion."
On the band's viewes towards Christianity:
Silenoz: "We hope that people have thoughts and are conscious on these matters. Too many people of today are lazy, they don't question religion nor other subjects. I can't be narrowminded and accept things without raising questions. I do, of course, accept that others have different opinions, but I have a hard time handling people who have an opinion without any background that can justify their thoughts. If they can't explain why they are Christians, I can't see any reason to pay respect to them. I am able to respect a Christian as a person, but I cannot whatsoever show any respect for his Christianity since I look down on this kind of? nonsense. Why should I respect anything I don't like? On the other hand, if he or she manages to explain why Christendom is important I can have a good relationship to the person."
"The negative aspects of Christianity will continue. Just look at our neighbour in the West. There's a president who makes decisions with the guidance of religious beliefs. Everyone is able to see how that's going to end. At the same time there are others who resist due to religious conviction, and then it all crashes (we laugh). This is so obvious. It's strange to witness such a never-ending story."

Hardcore band The Bronx are reportedly working on two new albums for release at the end of the summer. They explained:
"We have begun working on 2 albums worth of material. We will be making 2 different records this time... (and yet both will still be self titled) Record # 1 will be mariachi music (El Bronx) Record # 2 will be dead punk (The Bronx) Both go well with hot sauce, but yet each has a different bouquet. We are aiming for an end of summer release date. Nasty! "

Long time band associate Del James has revealed recently that the band’s long-delayed "Chinese Democracy" album is currently in the mixing stage.
Warsaw-based Daymares have just finished work on its debut album entitled “Can’t Get Us All.” Drums were tracked at Kokszoman Studio with Maciek Miechowicz (Neuma, ex-Kobong) while the rest of the stuff was recorded at a new born As One Studio with Smok (ex-Post Regiment) and Activator.
This 11-song album bridges heavy and pissed off hardcore, punk rock and death’n’roll. Raw, yet catchy and energetic, these are tunes that could attract fans of Entombed and Integrity as well as Tragedy or even Damnation AD. Fast, angry and discontent, the anthems are sinister and with a hard groove throughout.
The album's artwork has been drawn by outstanding Polish artist Rafal Wechterowicz (Ringworm, Integrity, Path of Resistance, Earth Crisis, Soulfly, Guns’n’Roses, Damnation AD).
Two songs (“The Bigger The Lie” and “I Shit You Not”) are available online at the band’s myspace site or in MP3 section of Selfmadegod Records website.
“Can’t Get Us All” is due out in first half of May 2007 on Selfmadegod Records. A special edition consisting of digipack version as well as Daymares t-shirt will be available exclusively via Selfmadegod webstore.
