"It's safe to say at this point that we are currently on hiatus. I know this is what every band does, etc. but on top of a few personal issues, we have some things to take care of first in our lives that right now, are most important to us.
"Don't take this as a breakup, more as a way of us saying we need to get our act together as people before we continue this project.
"In the meantime, you can grab 'Vibes' on iTunes. Thanks everyone who has stuck with us this past year, it has been one of the best years of my life because of all of you. And hopefully you can expect us back as soon as possible. Until then, take it easy guys." More...

Today Pitchfork.com hosts the exclusive premiere of “Starless Midnight” from celestial doom doers Ides of Gemini. The tune comes off of the eclectic West Coast trio’s forthcoming new full-length, "Constantinople." Called “darkly beautiful” by Pitchfork, the nine-track offering was produced by Ides of Gemini and engineered and mixed by Chris Rakestraw (Danzig, Skeletonwitch) at Sunset Lodge Recording in Los Angeles.
Notes guitarist/backing vocalist J. Bennett of the first single: “‘Starless Midnight’ was the last song written for Constantinople, but it might be our current favorite. I wrote the music while flat on my back on a sofa bed because I couldn't walk at the time -- long story. I nicked the title from a line in Martin Luther King's Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech, which he delivered in Oslo, Norway, on December 10, 1964. The lyrics have nothing to do with Dr. King, though. They were written by [vocalist/bassist] Sera, who I'm sure would prefer to leave the meaning open to interpretation. But I think I can safely say that it's a song about being in the dark."
German power metal band At Vance announced that the band is streaming the new track "Savior" (heard below). The song appears on the band's forthcoming LP "Facing Your Enemy," which is due out on April 27, 2012 through AFM Records. The album is the follow up to the 2009 release "Ride the Sky."

Dubbed "The Leads Are Weak," the mini clips offer playing tips and an up-close look at Sannicandro's skills and technique. In the third installment, Sannicandro performs an exercise called “double dutch.” Sannicandro elaborates: "This is a two-note per string lick that incorporates a slight Dimebag feel and some chromatics. Two notes per string is often neglected by many guitar players, because three notes a string is much easier to get up to speed, but two note patterns are an OG way to put some bluesy flavor in your lick-age." Arizona metal militia TOAD has returned to its homeland of Phoenix after a two-week migration through the Rocky Mountains and across the southern United States. The following press release was issued about the trek and regarding the band writing new material:
"To say TOAD's journey was a success would be an understatement. Old friends were revisited, new allies were formed, and TOAD's rotten gospel was delivered on a nightly basis to receptive congregations. Upon their return to the desert, TOAD immediately delved back into the writing process in preparation for the next album. TOAD's new music is an expansion and improvement upon the themes prevalent in last year's Rotten Tide, which continues to reap critical acclaim from critics and fans alike. These latest songs are the results of a more mature, driven, and aggressive band. Once the record is finished, TOAD plans on continuing its Eastern expansion to the Atlantic coast, and beyond. Take Over And Destroy.
"A maniacal six-piece, TOAD formed in 2008 and has rapidly evolved into a complex entity. TOAD's sound is hardly definable but rather a divine amalgamation of and elaboration upon all things heavy within the last four decades of rock music. Though obviously influenced by the Scandinavian death and black metal movements of the 1990s, the band ensures that every song pulsates with the groove established by metal's forefathers - bands like Black Sabbath and Judas Priest. With the addition of former Slut Sister and Drone Throne guitarist Alex Bank Rollins, and the replacement of original guitarist Danny Labarbera by former Queen Beast member Nate Garrett, the band has solidified a group that is road-ready and unstoppable in both its creative output and self-promotion. Rounding out the lineup are original members Andy Leemont on vocals, Shane Taylor on drums, Trey Edwin on bass, and Pete Porter on organ. TOAD strive to be at the forefront of the progression of the genre."
In the meantime, check out live footage from the band’s stop in Fayetteville, Arkansas last month below. More...

Nervecell has now officially released a new video for "Shunq (To The Despaired…King Of Darkness)" featuring Karl Sanders (Nile) on guest vocals. The song appears on Nervecell's latest album "Psycogenocide" released on Lifeforce Records (Europe) & Spellbind Records (Middle East). The video was shot in the city of Al-Ain, United Arab Emirates, directed by Shane De Almeida and edited by Ahmad Al Sharif.
Commented the band: "This particular song is special to the band as it will mark the first extreme metal track ever to include both Arabic lyrics mixed in with English lyrics, and who better else to have come on board and collaborate on this theme with us than the legendary Karl Sanders!
"The word 'Shunq' in Arabic has two meanings: to choke or to be hung by the neck. The song consists mainly of ideas and knowledge gathered from sources that speak about Lucifer and the demons that serve him. The song speaks about the battle of us humans and these demons in reality, in the end Satan himself brought forth to justice." More...
When light hits the stage even before the band does, theres only one thing that signifies you are about to have your face ripped off by a literal wall of sound. You see it in almost every huge rock and metal arena show. Its a vision pursued by any musician who dreams of playing live, and playing loud. As a kid I gazed at the stage in wonder, mesmerized at these giant black boxes stacked on top of one another. As soon as the band started playing, you could swear everything you heard was coming from these giant stacks of sound. They stood out almost as a member of the band themselves. All thats is left after the show ends, is a snapshot taken by your memory. The image of the band on stage, and the image of a giant stack of amplifiers with one name draped across the front, Marshall. More...

Due to these problems we had to call another guitarist to replace him at the latest Almah shows during Motion tour, but we always hoped that Paulo would be with us again very soon.
"Unfortunately, a very serious heart problem made it impossible for our friend to continue his work for a long term, and we received his message that he had to leave the band! All of us became extremely sad but at the same moment we respect his decision to stay with his family at such a delicate moment.
"For us, there remains only one thing: to keep public our eternal support, love and, most of all, gratitude for all the great moments we had together! We are very happy to know that his treatment is going on and the prognosis is positive. The band is here with all its energy and now it's even stronger because we do what we love and 'cos we respect all the dedication of our friend Paulo over these years of hard work and fun. More...
Mike Van Dyne, drummer and founding member of Virginia-based melodic tech-death metal act Arsis, has announced his departure from the group. He says in a statement, "After five label releases and hundreds of shows in 19 countries, it's time to move forward and pursue my career full-time.
"The last fully-completed Arsis song I contributed to was 'Since The Shadows' (released online last year), and it's one of my favorites. Through the years, I've accomplished everything in music I wanted to do. Not many people can say that, and I consider myself fortunate for having so many great experiences."
Van Dyne performed on Arsis' debut album, "A Celebration Of Guilt," as well as "A Diamond For Disease" and "United In Regret" (Willowtip Records), "As Regret Becomes Guilt: The Demos Of Arsis" (Negative Existence Records), "Starve For The Devil" (Nuclear Blast Records), and "Since The Shadows" (2011 online release). From 2009 to 2011, Van Dyne toured Europe and North America extensively with the band, and performed on all of Arsis' early tours from 2003-2007. "Event Horizon" will mark the first ever Heavy Metal album to be released solely on USB. According to the band "[a]s the major record labels are almost certainly going to cease production of compact discs by the end of 2012, I AM I are one step ahead of the game by releasing this groundbreaking album in a groundbreaking format."
Tickets for the 27th May debut show at Birmingham's O2 are limited to 600 and will also be available from the Official I AM I site next week. 600 special commemorative t-shirts will be produced for the gig and are an exclusive free gift for fans who buy tickets. The shirts will be numbered and will correspond with the ticket number and are sure to become collector's items.
Theart commented on the new album: "It's an album of message. It's about past meeting future and everything in between. It's about warnings for the current generation not to go down the same road in the future as we are doing now as that will surely secure our demise. To see and not to perceive, to hear and not to listen, is the downfall of all...
"It's a new age of enlightenment and there's a lot of messages in the songs that will hopefully kickstart a few people who are slow on the uptake.
"My whole career has been leading up to this point and I've never been more proud of anything in my life and this album will definitely live up to it's name." More...
