Closed Casket Activities will release the second full-length from When Tigers Fight this Spring. The following press release was issued:
"Creating anthems that are as lyrically empowering as they are mosh-friendly, When Tigers Fight was formed by Mike McTernan of Washington DC-based hardcore kings Damnation A.D. on vocals and Jonathan Dennison of Another Victim, Unholy, Santa Sangre, The Path Of Resistance, The Promise and more on guitars. The outfit's slick songwriting has already been displayed to the public via a an EP and LP released the mid-2000s, but surge take it all to the next level on their upcoming LP Death Songs.
"Set for release on May 1st via upstate New York-based Closed Casket Activities -- who co-released the vinyl version of the band's previous LP Ghost Story through Indecision Records -- Death Songs was recorded with Jocko at More Sound Studios in Syracuse, and rolls heads with nine energetic tracks, merging the melody of post-youth crew styled hardcore with a more rage-ridden approach at times, forming the When Tigers Fight sound. The cover art for Death Songs was created by Jon MacNair, known for his work on labelmates Harm's Way's last full length, Isolation."
Swedish black metal heathens Watain are set to unleash a new DVD upon the masses. Titled "Opus Diaboli," the production commemorates the band’s 13 years of chaos by providing a visual and audio documentation of the ceremonial anniversary concert performance in Stockholm and the long years of physical, intellectual, and spiritual work leading up to it. According to a press release, "Opus Diaboli is an epic 90-minute journey into the forbidden realms of wild-hearted Satanic metal and the manifestation of a unique band that has truly chosen a path few have ever dared to tread upon."
Comments the band in a collective statement: “This movie was first meant to be the recording of our 13-year anniversary concert, but as everything with Watain, it took on a life of its own and become one of our most ambitious projects to date. It is a very personal and emotional piece of work and is certainly not for the faint of heart. But for those who wish to explore the glimmering abyss of Watain further, this will be a rewarding release for sure. The box version of Opus Diaboli [available exclusively through the band’s own Wolfwear.net] contains an exclusive photobook.
"It was an overwhelming experience going through the massive archives in search of photos that best sum up the storm of passionate turmoil that has marked the Watain journey, especially since we wanted to stay away from live photos and focus more on moments off stage. The results were however very satisfying and offer a rare and spicy mixture of photos of which most have never been published previously. We are also proud to announce that this will be the first release on our own label ‘His Master’s Noise,’ a name originating from Bathory who had it in mind for their own label back in the early 1980s. Just like with our merch store wolfwear.net from which the limited box set will be available, this time we have chosen to stand by our own and do things our way.”
"Opus Diaboli" will be unleashed in North America on June 5th, 2012. As previously announced, Watain will take part in the inaugural Decibel Magazine Tour alongside Behemoth, The Devil’s Blood and In Solitude. The live ceremonies will commence next week on April 11 in Ohio and bloody 26 stages including a stop in Oklahoma City where the trek will merge with the U.S. Torture Tour featuring Cannibal Corpse, Exhumed, Abysmal Dawn, and Arkaik for an evening of audio devastation. Altar of Plagues is releasing a split with Year of No Light via Music Fear Satan / Radar Swarm Records. The Altar of Plagues contribution to the split, originally conceived prior to the "White Tomb" sessions, is now available for streaming online via Brooklynvegan. The band also commented:
"We are proud to finally share a piece of music that was conceived in 2007 prior to the recording of our album 'White Tomb.' Revisiting older work which represents an early stage in our development has been a refreshing experience.
"It is interesting to observe how much the 'black' metal landscape has changed in such a short period of time. When this piece was created, the musical territory in which we resided felt small and largely unnoticed. Our split with Year of No Light is now streaming in full thanks to our friends at Brooklyn Vegan."
The Way of Purity, which recently cancelled North American tour dates with Negura Bunget, will be releasing the band's second album "Equate" on April 17th. Wormholedeath Records commented:
"There are few bands with a common purpose beyond that of the music they create, who ardently stick to that purpose, thus transcending the vagaries of the often soulless music industry and becoming a genuine force for change. Animal Liberation Front supporters THE WAY OF PURITY are one such band though, and with the North American release of their sophomore album ‘Equate’ on 17 April 2012, via the new non-profit record label Revolution Harmony, they will take one more small step for man and one more giant leap for animal-kind. ‘Equate’ features ten new tracks of brutally blackened and detuned metalcore with synth flourishes, married with empoweringly empathetic lyrics, all trapped in a vicious bass-laden analogue recording. The album was produced, arranged, recorded and edited by Jonathan Mazzeo at Math Lab Recordings, mixed by Wahoomi Corvi at Realsound Studio, and mastered by Mika Jussila at Finnvox Studio."
“Always walk on the path of integrity and never act like a normal band, that has always been our promise to ourselves” The Way Of Purity affirms. “Our partners must fight to push our message and mission without ulterior motives, and this is exactly why we have joined forces with Revolution Harmony. When we found out about Ray Holroyd’s non-profit record label, we fell in love with his vision, and with his support we can fulfil our dreams of helping animal and earth protection organizations. This is just the beginning… the revolution starts now!” More...

Luca Turilli's Rhapsody announced that the band was forced to leave the song "Fantasia Gothica" off the forthcoming LP "Ascending to Infinity" due to a problem with the mix and time constraints to make the necessary changes, but will release the song free as part of an exclusive product through label Nuclear Blast Records. "Ascending to Infinity" is scheduled for release on June 29, 2012.
The announcement from the band reads:
Hi to all! Later today or tomorrow it will be released a news about the pre-orders as Nuclear Blast is actually linking the pre-order option to a special contest. As you can see from the sequence of songs listed in the NUCLEAR BLAST webshop, there is a little change in the order of the same album songs. FANTASIA GOTICA was removed at the very last minute from the album and this happened due to time problems related with the mix as we had a precise deadline to respect. So the whole album will last around 6 minutes less than what previously announced, same for the limited edition. But the good news is that just before the headliner tour FANTASIA GOTICA will be released together with another exclusive product we and NUCLEAR BLAST are preparing for you and that will be absolutely free for everybody… yes, my friends, absolutely FREE for the ones of you who asked about the limited editions: At this time the webshop of Nuclear Blast should have been already updated. Of course each limited edition will include the bonus DVD including the video of DARK FATE OF ATLANTIS, the "making of" documentary, interviews with the band members and more.More...

The band has also promised to cover the Weird Al song "Dare to be Stupid" in the next couple of weeks, as a result of the fans voting them the winner in the recent Thrash Magazine March Metal Madness. The following was posted on the band's Facebook Page:
Piratical News Update: Well folks, we've been hard (read: hardly) at work on new demos and such and recently have finished up 7 new jams that will appear on our as yet unreleased record sometime in the near future (read: end of humanity as we all know it.) The best way to describe it is - Thrashy as fuck, punky as hell, more grinds than a box of Foldgers, and the utmost weirdly epic songs under a minute and a half that songs under a minute and a half can possibly be. Expect utter shenanigans and tom foolery on this one and get ready to mosh your taints off.
We also promised you dorks that if we won Thrash Magazine's Metal March Madness, we'd grace you with a cover of Weird Al's "Dare To Be Stupid," so be on the look out for that in the next couple of weeks.
That's all folks. Now kick rocks, nerds.

Jim Marshall, the man dubbed the "father of loud," who founded the iconic Marshall guitar amplifiers has passed away at the age of eighty eight. The cause of death has not yet been revealed. Guitar hero Slash, formerly of Guns N Roses, has posted a message online via Twitter which reads:
"The news of Jim Marshall passing is deeply saddening. R & R will never be the same w/out him. But, his amps will live on FOREVER!"
A message has also been posted online on the official Marshall website, which reads:
"It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved founder and leader for the past 50 years, Jim Marshall. While mourning the Guv’nor though, we also salute a legendary man who led a full and truly remarkable life.
"Jim’s ascent into the history books as ‘the Father of Loud’ and the man responsible for ‘the Sound of Rock’ is a true rags-to-riches tale. Cruelly robbed of his youth by tubercular bones, Jim rose to become one of the four forefathers responsible for creating the tools that allowed rock guitar as we know and love it today to be born. The ground breaking quartet also included the late, great trio of Leo Fender, Les Paul and Seth Lover – together with Jim, they truly are the cornerstones of all things rock.
"In addition to the creation of the amps chosen by countless guitar heroes and game changing bands, Jim was also an incredibly humble and generous man who, over the past several decades, has quietly donated many millions of pounds to worthy causes."
