We've been talking to bands and fans everywhere to get their favorite mosh pit stories from metal shows. This week Nils K. Rue of Pagan's Mind shares a story involving his psychic friend and a witch. Read on to see what that's all about:
A friend of mine is a psychic person, and sees both future, past and what's going on presently. He is deadly accurate in a lot of his visions, and I have proof for that. He also finds lost keys, missing persons etc. It may sound like bullshit to some, but there is evidence you just can't refuse to look past. He has helped me in a lot of matters, but since “the images” he gets in his head also is mixed sometimes into his very vivid and dramatic fantasy (and sense of humor), I have learnt over the years to filter out what he probably read in dungeons and dragons book or saw in a horror movie and what is a fact.
The first year I knew him, I didn't realize that some of his sayings were part of his fantasy, so he scared the hell out of me regularly – until I learned how to understand him and interpret “his language.” It could be like “there's an old man standing behind you right now, he is your grandfather (and he described him perfectly)” stuff, to “you will break big next year with a song that goes with these chords: E, F, G, C etc. Well, that didn’t happen…More...
Progressive metal act The Binary Code has posted the following update online, announcing the addition of Marcus Silva to the band as its new vocalist.
"We’d like to welcome Marcus Silva to the band as our new singer! We’ve been working with Marcus since the end of last year, and feel he’s going to be a great addition to the band. In regards to our departure with Michael Apprich, the decision was mutual, as we acknowledged Mike‘s need to focus on his personal life. We love Mike and hope the best for him – he'll always be our friend."

"We are honored and excited to continue our career with Facedown records! In 2005 Facedown looked to the north western tip of PA to find 5 passionate guys who loved to play music with a purpose. We promised to work hard and do so with honor and integrity, holding onto every value God has given us.
"With 6 years of album writing, touring, ups and downs, bumps and busies, Facedown stood behind us pushing War Of Ages every step of the way. As we grow as men every album gets better and better due to the strong foundation Facedown has built. We are blessed to not only call them our label, but FAMILY!"
Thrash act Indestructible Noise Command and Revolver Magazine are pleased to unveil an exclusive new track, "Fist of Fascista," at Revolvermag.com here. The debut is part of Revolvermag.com’s monthly ‘Revolver Bootleg Series’ which features new, rare, and exclusive music. "Fist of Fascista" is cut from the band’s upcoming full-length release hitting stores on May 24th, 2011, "Heaven Sent… Hellbound." The release is being produced by Fredrik Nordström (At the Gates, In Flames, Opeth), and the artwork is illustrated by artist Sam Shearon (Iron Maiden, Rob Zombie, Fear Factory).
“This track blends two of our favorite pastimes, the love of old school metal and grinding angels in a blender,” states guitarist Erik Barath. “After so many years of being away, it’s an honor to get some love from such a respected metal magazine. I hope you guys enjoy our Revolvermag.com debut!”
“I'm very excited to see Indestructible Noise Command kicking ass and taking names,” adds bassist Sam Roon. “Each track on the new album gets more brutal than the last and there are few places that can handle the onslaught. I'm glad to see Revolver Magazine supporting heavy music and giving the fans this track premiere on the site. This is just a taste of what's to come.”
Metal Blade Records heavyweights The Black Dahlia Murder, Whitechapel, and Six Feet Under are all confirmed to head out on the 5th annual Summer Slaughter Tour, presented by ESP Guitars and Indie Merch Store, which runs from July 21st through August 21st. Headlining the tour this summer is none other than Detroit MI's The Black Dahlia Murder with Knoxville, TN's Whitechapel co-headlining the bill. Rounding out what is sure to be one of the summer's heaviest tours is Darkest Hour, Six Feet Under, Dying Fetus, As Blood Runs Black, Oceano, Fleshgod Apocalypse, in addition to a special halftime performance by Powerglove.
What makes the 5th installment of Summer Slaughter so special is that the folks behind the tour are giving fans the opportunity to pick the band that will open the tour. Fans will get to pick from a list of 10 bands and place their vote on the tour's Facebook page here (deadline is April 11th).
Trevor Strnad of The Black Dahlia Murder commented, "After months in secrecy, it brings us great pleasure to finally reveal our headlining status for this year's Summer Slaughter festivities. It is a great honor to be asked to play with so many talented bands… we had a killer time last round and this year will be no exception. Beers bongs will be had, horns will fly, and legions of metal fans will be left devastated! Bring your daughter to the slaughter… or something."
"We are excited to be a part of this year's Summer Slaughter tour. The past two years we have done big outside festival summer tours so it will be awesome to make it more intimate this summer and do a tour like Summer Slaughter. In 2008 we opened Summer Slaughter and now just 3 years later we will be back playing alongside some great bands and friends. I couldn't think of a more perfect way to return to the Summer Slaughter tour!" adds Alex Wade of Whitechapel.
Chris Barnes of Six Feet Under commented, "We're honored to have the opportunity to share the stage this summer with the best of the best in metal today…all that attend the 5th annual Summer Slaughter Tour will be left six feet under!"

Portrait has posted a new song online titled "Beast of Fire." The track is off the band's upcoming album "Crimen Laesae Majestatis Divinae." Head over to the album's new landing page here to check out the track.
Guitarist Richard Lagergren also commented on the new album: "The eight songs on 'Crimen Laesae Majestatis Divinae' constitutes Portrait's by far darkest, hardest and most intense material to date. This album is an outburst of a long time of targeted hard work, an intense creative process and pure black magic. To Hell and back and to Hell again! To achieve the goals we had for this album, working with someone not being the obvious choice for our type of music proved to be just the right (or if you will, wrong) decision. 'Crimen Laesae Majestatis Divinae' sounds like Portrait was always meant to. It is hate, and it is love. And in many ways, it is our true debut album."
The track listing is as follows:
1. Beast of Fire
2. Infinite Descension
3. The Wilderness Beyond
5. Darkness Forever
6. The Nightcomers

In a recent interview with Metal Believe, Sorrowful Angels discussed the band's new release "Omens" and parting ways with vocalist Kostas Katikos. Excerpts from the interview, conducted with guitarist and new vocalist Dion Christodoulatos, are available below.
Metal Believe: With your first material being a success, it was only a matter of time till you started to prepare the 2nd one. When is the new material, "Omens," going to be released and what can you tell us about it until now?
Dion: Until now we have had a very rough time with labels. Actually one of the main reasons that the band originally split up, was that Black Lotus, the label we were about to release our debut in 2002, declared bankruptcy!!! (No that record will never be released and probably ended in the garbage can, sorry.) That is the reason we try to be careful and plan our deals a bit more. Our estimations are that "Omens" will be out until September. It contains 11 tracks and sounds very different than "Ship In Your Trip." I believe, it is a more diverse album, revealing a broader sonic palette. More electronic elements are combined with lower tuned guitars while to preserving the most important part of our sound. Melodies! We have some more growling parts than "Ship In Your Trip" but that does not change the melodic character of SorrowfulAngels, it was something that definitely needed our new material.
Metal Believe: Your front man, Kostas Katikos, left the band. Any reasons to why he did that?
Dion: While it is still a not pleasant subject to talk about, I should say that it was more of his personal choice. Several changes occurred in his life the previous months so we sat down and talked altogether as a band to find out what solutions there were to combine our lives with the band. It turned out that he was suffocating into the SorrowfulAngels context and told us that he wanted to leave. We tried to change his mind but to no avail.More...

Last year the musical world was dealt a serious blow when gothic metal titan Peter Steele tragically passed away at the age of 48. While Peter may be gone, his music and his legacy live on, and they continue to inspire musicians around the world.
To honor Peter’s memory on the anniversary of his passing, and lead a new generation of metalheads to his music, heavy metal news site Metalunderground.com has teamed up with a dozen underground bands from across the globe to release an exclusive tribute album. The tribute, entitled “All For None, None For All: A Tribute to Peter Steele," was done in collaboration with Dan Mitchell of Beneath The Woods Studio and features twelve stellar cover songs from many stages of Peter’s career in both Type O Negative and Carnivore.
The songs covered, which include interpretations running the gamut from depressive rock to power metal to death metal and many stops in-between, are as follows:
Auvernia - “I Don't Wanna Be Me”
Fairytale Abuse - “Black No. 1”
In.verno - “Everything Dies”
Dead Shape Figure - “Dead Again”
Revilement - “Sex and Violence”
Emancer - “Girlfriend's Girlfriend”
A Band of Orcs - “Green Man”
Enthrope - “Wolf Moon”
Stabbingback - “Halloween in Heaven”
Dark Hound – “Life Is Killing Me”
Autumns Eyes – “Love You To Death”
Blind Greed – “Christian Woman”
A final track listing is still being determined.
Discussing his own exposure to Type O Negative, Fairytale Abuse vocalist Simon Pederson explained, “I remember very clearly when one of my friends introduced me to Type O Negative back in the early 90´s. I was quite impressed by the ambiance and melancholia of the music but even more by the depth and character of Peter Steele´s vocals. Since then their albums still regularly find their way to my CD player.” Simon then went on to add, “Peter Steele is for us without doubt one of the most significant forefathers within the entire melodic metal genre. So when being asked to deliver a song for his tribute we were doubtless that we had to participate and are honored to do so.” More...

We performed in cities that we had never played before, interacted with new crowds, made new friends, met new people, and we just want to extend a great Thank You to all those who showed up for these gigs, sweating and moshing their asses off for us. Also, we want to thank all the promoters who took care of us, all the zines who took the time to interview us, and the photographers who captured our moments on stage.
"A big Hello to Adimiron, Roots of Death and Resistance who shared the stage with us and showed everyone the quality of their work. We will run into each other in the future, hopefully. A million Hailz and respect to the Polish crew from Hell, Kuba, Lucas and Vacek, for helping us out on this tour and saved our asses many times during , as well as our tour manager, Darek, for keeping everything in order and for giving us memorable hilarious moments to take back home. "We shared booze, laughs, good times and important experiences, with these down-to-earth and open, legends of the Bay Area Thrash scene. Mark, Rob, Ted, Damien, Will, thank you for everything we went through together, we're sure to meet again soon!
