Pelican Cancels Chicago Show Due To Snow Storm

Pelican has issued the following update regarding their cancellation of tonight's show in Chicago:

"It is with a heavy heart that we have to cancel tonight's show in Chicago. We are currently stranded in Nebraska at the mercy of the insane April snow storm that is devastating this portion of the country. Yesterday we travelled from Denver for 10 hours through whiteout conditions only to make it 270 miles - when we woke up this morning the highway was closed. As of right now it's tough to tell when we'll even make it home. We we be rescheduling the show as soon as possible and all prepaid tickets will be honored. We'll keep you posted."

Yakuza To Release New Album In October

Profound Lore Records issue the following statement regarding YAKUZA's newest album:

"It hasn’t been a total secret but we’ll make it official: acclaimed avant-garde progressive experimental metal band YAKUZA will release their next full-length album via Profound Lore Records. To be released sometime this October, the band plan on entering the studio with Sanford Parker this July to lay down the follow up to the awesome “Transmutations” release, which will be approached in a unique kind of way. As mastermind Bruce Lamont explains: “The songs we are working have some breathing room so to speak. I don’t think we will nail down exactly where things will go or how long a said part will be played until we record. With that in mind, I think the course of action will be to record live in the studio with a minimal amount of overdubs to keep the spontaneity things.”

More Yakuza updates will surface surrounding this unique album in the near future. In the meantime, Yakuza are slated to play this year’s Maryland Deathfest and Bruce Lamont will be heading to Europe next month with MINSK to play alongside them."

Bon Jovi Prepares Legal Action Against Cover Band

The website Undercover.com.au has reported the following about apparent legal action from Bon Jovi against a cover band titled Blonde Jovi:

A legal letter from the law firm Blakely Sokoloff Taylor & Zafman to the girl group Blonde Jovi has surfaced and states, “It has recently come to our attention that your band is using the mark and name BLONDE JOVI in connection with live musical performances; more specifically, a Bon Jovi tribute band. Our investigation also uncovered that you are using BJP’s “Heart and Dagger” Logo trademark prominently on your website. Unfortunately, and despite the fact that our client appreciates the reverence that your band pays tribute to Bon Jovi, as a tribute band, our client nevertheless is charged with the duty of enforcing its trademark rights. In this regard, BJP cannot allow your band to use the mark and name BLONDE JOVI (or any other BJP trademarks), as such use creates a likelihood of confusion with our client, and capitalizes on the goodwill and reputation of its well-known marks."

Blonde Jovi issued the following statement about changing their name after receiving the letter: More...

Unearth Comments On Upcoming Tour with Testament

UNEARTH is currently gearing up for their upcoming tour with Testament, which kicks off on May 2nd in Seattle, WA. The band is touring to support their critically acclaimed album, "The March," which hit streets on October 14, 2008 and debuted at #45 on the Billboard Top 200. The upcoming North American tour also features newcomers and label mates Lazarus A.D., rounding out the bill.

Vocalist Trevor Phipps commented on the tour: "I've been a fan of Testament since I was a kid, so it'll be a great time each night for me. It's always fun to play our set, and it'll be awesome to catch Testament after we play. We're gonna have six weeks of good times. It will also be cool to tour with our label mates, Lazarus A.D. They're on their first record with Metal Blade. I heard their album last night, and it had some great shred parts. This whole tour is going to be a shred fest for sure!"

"Being such big fans of Testament, and to see this new appreciation of heavy thrash music, especially with the kids, is really something special," added drummer Derek Kerswill. "Between Testament, us, and Lazarus A.D., it's a cool family of traveling thrash ridiculousness. We're thankful to be out with a band that we're not only fans of, but that slays as hard as they do. It blows my mind that the guys in Testament are in their 40's, and they're throwing down harder than kids in their 20's. We're out there preaching the metal gospel, so the kids better bring a helmet cuz we'll be knocking down walls everywhere we play!"

The tour is being presented by Revolver Magazine, with tickets and VIP packages available now.

Here are the latest tour dates featuring Testament, Unearth and Lazarus A.D.: More...
