27 news articles posted on this day.
Justin Knipper of Mucopus has issued a statement regarding recent band happenings:
"We are rounding the bend in the writing process of our upcoming cd, UNDIMENSIONAL slated for a summer release through Nice To Eat You Records. The more we've been writing the more obvious it will be to everyone how much stronger, mature and generally advanced the newer material is compared to 'Mulch?!?'. Tentative song-titles include 'Super No Vacancy', 'Mucus vs. Them', 'Undimensional', 'Load Rag', 'Pus Must Flow', etc. Toshihiro Egawa is handling the cover art and it is looking unreal. Egawa's done work with acts such as Malignancy, Mortician, Deeds of Flesh, Beheaded and many more.
In other news, we will be releasing our split cd with Mincing Fury & Guttural Clamour of Queer Decay sometime this winter through Obliteration Records out of Japan. Our side will feature 2 pre-production demos we recorded last summer as well as some live stuff and some sonic re-workings courtesy of Peacemaker (Rich Hoak of Brutal Truth and Total Fucking Destruction glory).
On top of the split release, Disembowel Records out of Indonesia will be re-releasing 'Mulch?!?' on cassette tape with new artwork courtesy of famous Bali artist Dede Suwahita. We'll have 2 live bonus tracks dating back to 2004 from our radio appearance on Return To The Pit."
Meanwhile, here are the latest Mucopus tour dates: More...
The French branch of Universal has revealed that the first single to be taken from Marilyn Manson’s latest album will be ‘Heart Shaped Glass.’ The video for the single has just been completed, featuring exerts from Manson’s horror film he will be making with Hollywood producer James Cameron.
The new album entitled ‘Eat Me Drink Me’ is expected on June 4.
Canada's Moshpit Tragedy Records has scrapped the planned reissue of Eyehategod's "99 Miles of Bad Road" CD at the band's request.
In a recent email to Moshpit Tragedy, Eyehategod bassist Gary Mader wrote: "We have been debating on whether or not to do this re-release for several reasons. First and most important, we feel that Emetic Records has been better to us than any label we have dealt with, and for that we feel that we owe some loyalty to them when it comes to any release. Finding an honest label is a rarity these days, and since we've got one, we'd rather not ruin that relationship. Aside from that, we are just less than enthusiastic about releasing yet another retrospective project. There are already three full-length CD releases like this, and if I remember correct, we left these tracks off of 'Preaching...' because some of us thought they were substandard."
Moshpit Tragedy co-founder Rayny Forster commented in a statement: "We have no hard feelings and also want what is best for Eyehategod, Emetic Records and the fans. If they don't think it is a worthy release, we'd rather not release it. I have been in contact with Mike [Williams, Eyehategod vocalist[ and we still plan to release something from one of their many side projects in the future."
Blender has footage of Slayer from the band's sound check at Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City on February 15th. You can watch a 'Necrophiliac' rehearsal here.
Slayer and Marilyn Manson will co-headline a North American major-market summer tour set to kick off July 25 on the east coast. Plans are for the tour to play some twenty-five cities and wrap up early September on the west coast. Slayer will first play a number of Eurpean tour dates and festivals prior to that tour, however.
Launch Radio Networks reports: EVANESCENCE is slated to co-headline this summer's Family Values tour with KORN, marking the first time that EVANESCENCE has appeared on a U.S. touring festival. Singer Amy Lee told Launch that she and her bandmates are thrilled with the idea of being part of a bigger lineup of acts. "Well, obviously we're KORN fans, but there's a lot of cool bands on the bill and when you're on one of those shows that's a bunch of bands and not just like two or three, you basically get to spend the whole day listening to music and watching other bands perform," she said. "And not only is it really fun and inspiring, but it takes a lot of the pressure off, because you're not like (laughs) the only band that everyone's relying on, you know, at the end of the night to play for like an hour and a half and not make any mistakes. So we're all very excited."
Family Values starts on July 20 in St. Louis and also features FLYLEAF, HELLYEAH, TRIVIUM and ATREYU.
EVANESCENCE recently filmed a video for "Sweet Sacrifice", the new single from the band's 2006 album, "The Open Door".
The group finishes a U.S. tour with openers CHEVELLE and FINGER ELEVEN tonight in Glens Fall, New York, after which EVANESCENCE will head to South America, South Africa and Europe.
In other related non-news, Amy Lee says she has not spoken with her ex-boyfriend, Seether frontman Shaun Morgan since their breakup in late 2005. "You know how relationships are," she said. "It really is hard to still be friends and talk all the time when there's hurt feelings there, you know. You open yourself up and there's a wound there, and even after it heals, it's sort of like, you can't heal together. That's not really healing for the most part. So, no, we're not really talking or anything, but I hear he's doing good and they're working on a new album, so all the best." More...

Reunited Greek death metal legends SEPTIC FLESH have signed to Season of Mist and will record their sixth full length album. The yet-titled album will carry all the elements that made the sound of SEPTIC FLESH so distinctive. There will be pale, strange guitar melodies, brutal and sharp riffing, the devil behind the mic, and of course the neoclassical arrangements that are trademark of Chris Antoniou.
For that purpose alone, Chris the "gothic maestro" will torture a full orchestra and choir respectively made of 80 musicians and 32 singers. The rest of the album will be recorded and mixed Greek death metal legends the famous Fredman studios, with the company of Fredrik Nordstrom.
Finnish progressive/avantgarde metallists FALL OF THE LEAFE have completed work on their sixth album, "Aerolithe". The track listing is as follows:

Launch Radio Networks reports: The BLACK SABBATH offshoot HEAVEN AND HELL shot a concert DVD at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on Friday (March 30). By all accounts, the band's performance was great, with some long-time fans calling it the group's best show ever, but things didn't go as smoothly behind the scenes as they could have. Lead singer Ronnie James Dio told Launch that New York City union issues reared up hours before the concert even began. "We didn't have enough time for a soundcheck because the union went, 'OK, time for a break,'" he said. "'But we've only done half a song.' 'Time for a break.' 'But we've got 15 minutes left.' 'We said, time for a break.' You know that way that goes. So, all in all, it was more difficult than it should have been — but it is a city show, and that's what you've gotta put up with."
There were plans to lengthen the setlist for Radio City, but having soundcheck cut meant the band couldn't properly rehearse. They were planning to add the new track "Ear in the Wall" that's on the new album "Black Sabbath: The Dio Years", which comes out tomorrow (Tuesday, April 3).
HEAVEN AND HELL's setlist for the Radio City show was as follows:
01. [E5150 Intro]
02. After All (The Dead)
03. The Mob Rules
04. Children of the Sea
05. Lady Evil
07. The Sign of the Southern Cross
09. The Devil Cried
10. Appice Solo
11. Computer God
12. Falling Off the Edge of the World
13. Shadow of the Wind
14. Iommi Solo/Die Young
15. Heaven and Hell
16. Lonely is the Word
17. Neon Knights
As previously reported, HEAVEN AND HELL will be the featured guests on the nationally syndicated radio show "Rockline" airing Wednesday, April 11. The live show begins at 8:30 p.m. PT / 11:30 p.m. ET, and fans are encouraged to call in with questions during the program at (800) 344-ROCK (7625). To find a station near you, check out www.rocklineradio.com.
Iommi, Butler, Dio, and Appice will be signing copies of "The Dio Years", on Tuesday, April 3 between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at Best Buy (44th & 5th Avenue) in New York City. Contact the store for further details: (212) 808-0309.
HEAVEN AND HELL's U.S. trek with support from MEGADETH and MACHINE HEAD will launch April 22 in Phoenix, Arizona.
Sarah Jezebel Deva, vocalist with Cradle Of Filth, Angtoria, Therion and Mortiis can be seen being interviewed on YouTube.
In the interview conducted by DJ TRoLL, Deva talks about the new Angtoria single ‘God Has A Plan For Us All’. The video of the song can be seen at this location and also features an appearance from the wife of Dani Filth – frontman of her other band Cradle Of Filth.
Concerning the single she commented, ‘The song covers two subjects but they are both linked. Written about a man who preaches god's word yet finds it acceptable to sexually abuse children. Also this song describes the pitiful cliche used by many religious people who can't offer any other explanation as to why people suffer in their life. Rape, murder, poverty, whatever it may be, the only excuse that can be offered is: "God Has A Plan For Us All!"
Angtoria’s new self-titled album is out now on Listenable Records.
Phoenix-based four-piece Psychostick will be coming to a computer screen near you for a series of fan-interactive events over the course of the next month as part of their Not Using Our Webcam For Amateur Porn (But We Wish We Were) Web Tour. The band, who have had a great deal of radio success with their single “Beer” (most recently gracing the WAAF Radio float at the Boston St. Patrick’s Day Parade and inciting fans to mosh in the streets with their music), will be interacting with their fans online in a series of different and exciting webcast events (please see full schedule below). Rock Ridge Music, that band’s label, came up with the idea for a unique web tour that can reach all fans with a computer and would not be limited by geography, making this a first-of-its-kind web tour. The label and band are working with Stickam.com to place the streaming video content on the Stickam site, the label’s MySpace page, and the band’s MySpace page.
“We wanted to take advantage of the opportunities available on the internet to bring tours and our bands’ music to fans everywhere,” says label principal Jason Spiewak.
The idea was hatched by Spiewak and executed by Rock Ridge Marketing Director Kim Frankel, who says: “We were inspired by the drive and determination of label artist Ernie Halter to bring every show to his fans via webcasting on his MySpace page and saw a way that we could take that technology and use it differently for another band. Ernie was instrumental in helping us with the ins and outs of the webcasting, and Psychostick embraced the idea.”
Fans will be able to tune in via computer on set days (times to be announced on the Psychostick MySpace page) to experience a series of “web events” featuring Psychostick, complete with plenty of the antics the fans have come to know and love from the guys. The fans will be able to chat with each other and with the band via a dedicated chat room linked to each broadcast. Psychostick will take time to answer fan questions and talk to them in real time at each event. The schedule is as follows: More...

Relapse Records has announced the signing of Savannah, GA's BARONESS.
BARONESS (Allen Blickle - drums, Summer Welch - bass, John Baizley - guitar, vocals, and Brian Blickle - guitar) recently finished writing its first proper full-length. The band will enter the Jam Room in Columbia, SC in April with Phillip Cope (of KYLESA) at the production helm to begin recording its Relapse debut.
Comments Baizley: "We have completed writing and formulating the vast bulk of material that will comprise our first full-length. We have been actively writing and performing this material since the beginning of last summer and have toured Europe, playing a good cross section of the new album. This will be our first recording with our second guitar player (Brian Blickle), who has been in the band for nearly two years. The album is expected to be 10 tracks, and will have no formal title. Upon its release, we plan on touring the U.S. and Europe extensively in support of it."
BARONESS previously released two EPs ("First" and "Second" respectively) on local Savannah indie Hyperrealist Records and will see the release of their "third" EP by way of a split with THE UNPERSONS, titled "A Grey Sigh in a Flower Husk", via At A Loss Recordings imminently.
Tracks from BARONESS's previous efforts can be heard via the band's MySpace page.
Last week on Monday, March 26, I had the chance to get out to DC's 9:30 Club to see Lamb of God's Sacrament Tour with Trivium, Machine Head and Gojira as support. This year has been chock full of amazing tours and doesn't look to be letting up. This concert was the third sold out show in a row I've seen at the 9:30 Club, which has a capacity of over 1300 people. I was amazed upon my arrival just after 7:15 that the place was already filled to about three quarters capacity and the smell of hot, sweaty bodies already filled the air. More...

Drummer Dennis Röndum of the Swedish technical death metal outfit SPAWN OF POSSESSION has announced his departure from the band. His statement on the matter reads as follows:
"After 10 years in SPAWN OF POSSESSION I have decided to move on and attempt other challenges in life. My reasons for leaving the band are various but the one most notable is my lack of interest in drumming as of late, where I feel I don't have the dedication to be an extreme metal drummer anymore. My interest in music [is] still there but my drive to play blast beats is lost.
"I wish to send out a big thanx to all the fans and other bands I've had the pleasure to encounter on the road while touring with SPAWN OF POSSESSION. You all made it worthwhile. I sincerely wish the guys in SPAWN OF POSSESSION the best of luck in the future and I look forward to new sick tunes from the band."
SPAWN OF POSSESSION's sophomore album, "Noctambulant", was released last year via Neurotic Records. The CD was recorded at Pama Studios in Kristianopel, Sweden with producer Magnus Sedenberg.
