Massacre Records has posted the following announcement online about recruiting Crystal Tears to the label's roster:
"We want to welcome the multinational quintet Crystal Tears to the Massacre Records family! The band was formed in the late 90's in Greece and issued several demos before they released their debut album 'Choirs Of Immortal' in 2006 via Pure Steel Records. It didn't take long until they shared stages with bands such as W.A.S.P., Riot or Jag Panzer!
"Crystal Teaars have left their mark as one of Greece's best heavy metal acts and have proven to be a persistent, innovative and unstoppable force. Their musical roots can be traced back from the good ol' heavy metal of the Eighties up to modern metal.
"Their second album 'Generation X' followed in 2010 and was released via 7Hard. The album received rave reviews worldwide and initiated the band's first tour in Greece.
"The band announced the addition of the Danish singer Søren Nico Adamsen (ex-Artillery) as well as the Hungarian guitarist Máté Nagy in late 2012 and started working on their third full-length album, which was recorded with producer R. D. Liapakis (Mystic Prophecy, Devil's Train). With the new line-up, Crystal Tears sound more brutal, heavy & melodic than ever!"
Drummer Chrisafis commented about the signing: "It's a funny feeling... I own so many albums from Massacre Records’ catalogue and now Crystal Tears is a part of the family... yes! We want to thank all the people that put their trust in us and that have been supporting our band one way or another. We promise that we'll do our best!"
Crystal Tears’ new studio album will be released later this year through Massacre Records.

Relapse Records is extremely excited to announce the signing of Brooklyn, NY blackened sludge trio Mortals. The label comments:
"Formed in 2010, Mortals (Elizabeth Cline - guitar & vocals, Lesley Wolf - bass & vocals, Caryn Havlik - drums) have quickly built a reputation for their harrowing concoction of black metal, stoner-swamp-sludge and doom metal, being described by MSN’s Headbang blog as an 'engrossing and devastating version of modern metal," and by Meat Mead Metal as 'massive and crushing.'
"The band will be entering the studio this summer to record their Relapse Records full-length debut and follow up to their critically acclaimed, self-released EP Death Ritual. Listen to the title track from the EP below."

"A Fair Dream Gone Mad," the debut album from Sacramento, California-based dark/progressive quartet, In The Silence - initially confirmed for official release via Sensory Records this month - has been moved back several weeks.
Due to a manufacturing mishap, the final product has been delayed, and the record will now be in stores for its new street date, Tuesday, May 7th. The following press release was also issued about the band:
"Musically comparable to the emotional output of Katatonia, Porcupine Tree and Opeth but boasting a more progressive nature than said acts, In The Silence surges with incredibly moving riffs and otherworldly atmospheres, boasting a huge mid-tone clean vocal performance atop a thunderous display of technical metal percussion. A Fair Dream Gone Mad’s forty-five minute lifespan possesses massive, pristine production, further magnifying the band’s skilled approach.
"The band self-released the album in two very limited runs, and when both pressings were immediately vanquished, they decided it was time for the album to have an official release. Sensory Records, a division of The Laser’s Edge, will give A Fair Dream Gone Mad the proper worldwide distribution and attention it deserves, with updated digipak and digital download versions coming in early May. Preview several songs from the album below."
In The Silence will tour in support of "A Fair Dream Gone Mad" throughout the year, including a performance at the massive annual ProgPower USA XIV festival in Atlanta, Georgia, where the group will share the stage with Circle II Circle, Rhapsody, Wolverine, Soilwork, Shadow Gallery, Wolf, Circus Maximus, Armored Saint and more. "Incendium" has been revealed as the title of the second album by Burial Vault, and the track listing is available below. The follow-up to "Ekpyrosis (Periodic Destruction)" will be released on May 24th, 2013. Apostasy Records comments:
"The record is conceived as a full-on concept and is highly influenced by 'Fahrenheit 451' by Ray Bradbury, a classic in dystopian literature. The quintet uses both the music and the lyrics to describe the change of a man from a blind follower to a critical antagonist in a near future within four suspense-packed chapters.
"Recorded at the Soundlodge Studio with producer Joerg Uken (Dew-Scented, Nightfall, God Dethroned a.o.) the listeners get melodic Death Metal with appropriate technical and progressive influences and also subtle Black Metal-esque and acoustic moments. The awesome artwork was done by Ben Borucki (Irrleuchten) who previously worked together with acts like Agathodaimon." More...

Industrial-infected deviants Gnaw are pleased to join the Seventh Rule Recordings family for the release of their upcoming new studio creation of chaos, "Horrible Chamber." The label comments:
"Just when we thought we couldn't get any louder, we are stoked to announce the Industrial-infected noise-maligned deviants GNAW joining the Seventh Rule family. Besides previously being in some killer bands that google will tell you, their first record THIS FACE is awesome and should be tracked down ASAP. More details soon!"
Gnaw is the sawblade-wrapped-in-razorwire brainchild of Alan Dubin (Khanate, Old, O.L.D.), Carter Thornton (Enos Slaughter), Jun Mizumachi (Ike Yard), Brian Beatrice, and Eric Neuser. The band's 2009 Conspiracy Records debut, "This Face," incorporated pounding percussion, factory noise, chordal slabs of guitar and bass, homemade electro-acoustic instruments and Dubin’s legendarily scathing vocal craftings. Having assaulted music hordes domestically and abroad over the last four years, the collective will finally unleash a sophomore offering later this year.

Lord Dying has now completed work on the band's Relapse Records debut. The following press release was issued about the band and the coming release:
"Lord Dying comes from Portland, Oregon, a place over abundant with purveyors of the heavy riff. A region where the inhabitants are plagued with nerve and joint damage due to lack of sunlight. In a time where everyone is trying to out-sludge or out-doom each other Lord Dying gives something less than a fuck. They are a metal band with members of Black Elk, Portals, Le Force, and Cremains, who in their short, one year's time as a band have shared the stage with Unsane, Yob, Valient Thorr, Black Cobra and many others.
"After releasing a self-titled EP in 7" form, the dudes kicked it up a notch, heading out on national tours with Witch Mountain followed by a long trek with label-mates Red Fang and Black Tusk. Fast forward to 2013 and Lord Dying are poised to be the new heavyweight champions of metal. Smashing the riffs of High On Fire into the groove of Kylesa, Lord Dying have delivered one of the most impressive metal debuts in a long, long time.
"A young band that has matured well beyond their years into a fully developed titanic heavy metal machine, Lord Dying's new album, set for a summer release on Relapse Records, is poised to be one of the best debuts of 2013." More...
Victory Records proudly welcomes symphonic black metal unit Erimha from Montreal, Quebec, Canada to its roster. The label comments:
"Erimha, which means Army or Legion coming from Sumerian culture, base their haunting, melodic, merciless and operatic sound on ancient mythology and spirituality. Their mantra and mission is one of inner strength and how the individual can be as powerful as an entire army.
"Formed in 2010, Erimha's punishingly fresh and savage take on symphonic black metal is spawning a loyal legion of followers in the Canadian metal scene. They released their first full length album, Irkalla in September 2010 which featured guest vocals from The Agonist’s front woman, Alissa White. The band, Gore (vocals), Kthien (rhythm guitar), Ksaos (drums) and Diusternas (bass) are going to be an extreme force to be reckoned with on the international metal battlefield."

German melodic power metal act PowerWorld has announced that the band's third LP will be entitled "Cybersteria." The album was produced by Ilker Ersin at his MusikundWeb studios in Hirschaid near Bamberg, Germany, and mastered by Tommy Newton (Victory/UFO). "Cybersteria" will be released in Germany on May 24th, in Europe on May 27th and in the US/Canada on June 4th through SPV/Steamhammer as CD and digital download.
"Cybersteria" is a conceptual album (a combination of "cyber" and "hysteria"). The press release reads: "What was considered as Orwellian fiction back in 1984 has become reality in 2013 - the surveillance society. In times of Facebook and Skype, true privacy seems to exist only where exposure through the media is consistently rejected."
Mastermind Ersin states: "There's almost a kind of hysteria when it comes to the Internet and digital pseudo-realities. Our new songs aren't a concept album in the narrower sense, but as usual the whole album is held together by a central theme. This time the leitmotif is emotional impoverishment which is increasingly supported by the new media. At the end of the day, social networks have the opposite effect of what they suggest: they make people grow lonely."
The instruments were recorded by Ersin, guitarist Andreas Rippelmeier, keyboardist Marco Grasshoff, drummer Guido Gallus and the band's new vocalist Michael Bormann (ex-Jaded Heart). Bormann stepped in on short notice for David Reece, after his split with the band. More...

"The Swedish horror metal mosh band are about to paint the town red with their latest offering. Over the course of a very intense hour, the listener will be haunted by rapid tracks and razor-sharp riffs. There's no chance to take a breather, when the bloodthirsty bunch revolving around Larry Lethal are calling to mosh!
"Even fans of other genres will immediately be transformed into Die-Hard Moshoholics and will crave for more songs just like zombies will crave for the brains of the living. With a perfect grasp for heavy grooves and lethal melodies, F.K.Ü. puts the pedal to the metal from the very first to the last second! Are you ready to get moshed"
Sweden's Shining has revealed the artwork for the band's upcoming split with Mortuary Drape as well as posting a teaser for a new track.
Titled “In the Eerie Cold Where All the Witches Dance” and set for release on Primitive Art Records, the 7” vinyl will contain an exclusive track from each of the bands. The two tracks will only be released on the split and will not appear on any album.
Commenting about the Shining track on the original announcement of the split, front man and founder Niklas Kvarforth said: “In 1998 a song was written which was intended for inclusion on our first album. However, somehow we were not able to record it properly, which forced us to re-record 'Endless Solitude' instead. At the next Abyss session we faced the same problem and after that, the then-titled 'One With The Endless,' was left out as we were certain the song had a curse written all over it. Quite recently, we gave it a third shot, and this time the curse was embraced instead of the opposite. A strange phenomena reinventing itself in every way possible, and, for some odd reason, no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t write any suitable lyrics, and once again considered leaving it be. I did however have a very close friend of mine in the studio who not only came up with a new lyrical theme for the song but was also given my full blessings to sing it." More...

Metal has evolved over the course of its existence, sometimes to the point where its traditional styles have become the minority. The younger generation of fans that have missed out on trailblazers like Warlord, Jag Panzer, Agent Steel or Abattoir of the mid-80's can turn to a new hope down under with Australia's Dragonsclaw. The band burst upon the scene with the debut LP "Prophecy" back in March of 2012 and have finished work on the sophomore effort "Judgement Day." The Aussies just announced that they have signed on with Killer Metal Records in Germany for the album, expected this year.
Today, through Metal Underground.com, the band premiere's its new single "Watching My Every Move," the opening track off the new album, which features guest vocalist, Ex-Accept and current PowerWorld crooner David Reece. Dragonsclaw vocalist Giles Lavery explains: "[W]e wanted to hit hard, much the same way we did with the track "Darkness within" on our first album, but this one is a little more melodic than that though, it's just as heavy, but with a more melodic chorus."
Lavery went on to explain the meaning behind the single and the role of David Reece: "[T]he song is inspired by the 'Psycho' films, so the lyrics are a split personality, two voices talking to each other. I wasn't getting any satisfaction singing both parts myself...it just didn't have the right dynamic that i wanted, but the moment we got David Reece to jump in as the "other voice," it instantly worked!"
