Every week we check in with fans and musicians to get their favorite Pit Stories. Today guitarist Ed Hartwell from Heart In Hand tells the following story about courteous moshers lending a helping hand...and wishing they hadn't:
This was not at a metal or hardcore show, but I think that makes it even funnier. A couple of years ago I went to see The Foo Fighters at the Milton Keynes Bowl and during one of their "mosh pits" (I use the term as loosely as possible) it became apparent that a pretty fat guy had fallen and was in a lot of pain. I think he had broken or sprained his foot from teeny bopping or something.
The crowd around him adopted the 'all for one and one for all' safety mentality which is usually the case at shows and helped lift him up to the barrier. It took a lot of force cos of his size. At this point a few people had noticed that he'd shit himself and it was coming out his shorts.
Of course they immediately tried to get away, but of course couldn't due to the sheer density of the crowd. It was too late and their heroic good samaritan deeds were rewarded by being horribly traumatized, as a big shitty guy tumbled over their heads. I was about 3 metres from the incident so luckily had a good enough view without getting any fecal matter on me whilst I enjoyed "Monkey Wrench."
Heart in Hand's second album "Almost There" is due out May 13th via Siege Of Amida Records. The band will be touring the U.K. and Europe over the summer and making various festival appearances. For more info on the band, head over to the Heart In Hand Facebook profile. More...

In a constant barrage of new noise from Portland-based D.I.Y. noisemongers Eolian Empire, the label’s next conquest comes by way of the filthifying new 12” from local metalworkers Drunk Dad. The following press release was issued about the band:
"If they weren't such dirty fuckers they'd be one of the town's shining success stories of unrelenting hard work and dedication: in a surprisingly short time Drunk Dad went from favorite-band-shirts-on-their-hearts-on-their-sleeves to a unique and dynamic fusion of the heavy, the noisy, and the aggro, with a healthy dose of high drama, as they consistently churn out some of the most devastating live sets Portland has seen in years. Complex but in-your-face arrangements, push-pull duel-guitar interplay, searing behind-the-head leads, heavy motherfucking bass, and hard-hitting, tight, technical traps with dynamic, disturbing vocals to hold it all together evolves to ethical scumbaggery at its finest.
"Morbid Reality, the first vinyl release from Portlandian shitstarters Drunk Dad, merges off-kilter sludge/noise the Pacific Northwest perpetuates so well into a drugged-out but aggro vibe; elements of scathing crust-ish degenerate punk brutality of El Dopa or Dystopia are cold-filtered with slow-motion acerbic sludge basslines and noxious riffage with a post-Melvins experimental vibe."
Eolian Empire will drop the four-song "Morbid Reality" on 12” vinyl and digital download this coming June 11th. The track listing is as follows:
4. Scum Fee More...

Goremasters Aborted have cancelled their North American tour plans. In regards to this cancellation, front-man Sven de Caluwé comments:
"Unfortunately rumors are true. We were forced to pull out of our North American tour with Hypocrisy, Krisiun, and Arsis. Due to reasons beyond control, Hypocrisy was not able to receive US visas in time and had to pull out.
"We only found out 3 days ago and were sharing transport with Hypocrisy. Being this close to the start of tour, finding an affordable method of transportation and a driver was a near impossible task, making it impossible for us to still make it. We are extremely disappointed as we were very excited to make it back out to the US for our fans and share the stage on this great line-up.
"We had flights booked, visas processed, and everything was good to go, so when the news hit, it came as a shock. This cost us several thousands of dollars out of our own pockets and continuing would cost us even more money, which we simply don't have. We apologize to the fans and are already looking for a replacement tour in the near future.
"Krisiun and Arsis are still doing the tour, and we urge you all to still go and support them. All the bands here are victims in this of bureaucratic procedures, so no need to point fingers. We are all as broken by this as anyone else."
Brazil's Krisiun will now headline this North American trek with Arsis as direct support (Autumns End and Starkill will also play select shows). The newly revamped itinerary can be found here.
Lifeforce Records has checked in with the following announcement about singing a deal with GrandExit:
"GrandExit s a Swedish metal band which has been around for over 13 years now. Their new album and Lifeforce Records debut, 'The Dead Justifies The Means' is about to be released in July 2013.

"Strong songs made with a lot of heart and wise precision. There are choruses and melodies to get you hooked at once and the album is still packed with unexpected variety - patterns and mood changes, killer riffs and groundbreaking vocals & lyrics will get your attention again and again...
"GrandExit will support Decrepit Birth and Jungle Rot in August for 5 dates in Europe. They will be also taking part in the Scandinavian Aggression tour that hits SWE, NOR, FIN in September. Plans are being made for another European tour in October supporting some great bands, so keep your eyes open for the dates!"

Rain Without End has checked in with the following announcement about inking a deal with Mourners Lament:
"Rain Without End Records is extremely happy to welcome Chilean doomsters Mourners Lament to our doom metal family. Mourners Lament play a dark and crushing brand of death/doom full of depressive melodies and atmospheres. The band was born in 2004 in Chile with the idea of creating a heavy mixture of depressive and oppressive music based on the older British trinity as well as other classic and modern influences.
"To date Mourners Lament has released a demo in 2004 and an EP in 2008 titled 'Unbroken Solemnity' which was originally released through Descent Productions of the Netherlands. Between 2008 and 2009 the band welcomed members from Poema Arcanus, Mar de Grises and Procession to the line-up and began playing live shows. Sadly in 2009 the band put things on hold and remained relatively silent until now. Mourners Lament is now back after almost 4 years of silence and now pushes forward with renewed energy. The guys have returned to their original line-up and are currently working on a brand new full length to be released through Rain Without End Records sometime in 2014." More...
