GunShyAssassin has teamed up with Listenable Records to premier a new track from "Deeply From The Earth," the forthcoming full-length album from Barcelona progressive death metal act Moonloop. Moonloop also has a video upload streaming of the track "Strombus," which you can listen to below. Moonloop explains the meaning of the song as being about climate change and how our planet fights against human unconciousness. Overkill drummer Ron Lipnicki performed with guitarist/vocalist Vinnie Camarillo and bassist Murry of Kansas City thrashers Meatshank and members of local acts Vanlade and Hellevate for a rendition of Metallica's "Seek and Destroy" at the Riot Room in Kansas City on April 26th. The performance came during an after-party gig following Overkill's appearance at Killfest 2012 in Kansas City's Beaumont Club with God Forbid, Diamond Plate, Suidakra and local openers Marasmus. Lipnicki was in the audience watching the jam session and when "Seek and Destroy" began he was heard to shout "Oh, I know that song!" then jumped onto the stage and took the reins from Meatshank drummer Shane Cook. It was an unforgettable moment that will forever live in the memories of those involved. Meatshank's "Scavengers" album is streaming in its entirety at StereoKiller.

Bay Area enigmas Bosse-De-Nage have completed work on their new album “iii,” the follow-up to last year’s “ii.” Profound Lore Records commented on the band:
"With live appearances pretty much rare and the band’s refusal to partake in any kind of promotional activity whatsoever, all coupled with the band’s bizarre mix of avant-outsider black metal, Slint-inspired indie-rock, and classic-era 'screamo,' have made Bosse-De-Nage one of the more intriguing, unique, uncompromising, and ultimately psychotic and murderous-sounding bands out of the Bay Area."
To officially be released on June 26th, the track listing for “iii” goes as follows:
1. The Arborist
3. Perceive There A Silence
5. The God Ennui
6. An Ideal Ledge

German death metal act Morgoth will release the band's first ever live album and DVD, "Cursed To Live," this coming, June 2012. "Cursed To Live" marks the band's live documentation of the currently ongoing 20th anniversary celebration of the "Cursed" album (released via Century Media Records in 1991).
"Cursed To Live" will be released digitally in North America on June 26th, and the limited DVD+2CD will be available exclusively at CM Distro. The live show featured on the album was recorded at the band's triumphant show headlining the Way Of Darkness Festival 2011, where Morgoth performed an extensive set of 15 songs.
The cover artwork for "Cursed To Live" (which intentionally alludes to the original "Cursed" artwork) was designed by artist Dirk Rudolph, who also created the original artwork for "Cursed" 21 years ago. The audio of the live recordings was mixed by legendary death metal producer Dan Swanö.
In regards to this upcoming release, Morgoth comments: "By the end of June we will be finally releasing our career's first-ever official live DVD / live album 'Cursed to Live'. Get ready for the full power of Morgoth during the 2011/2012 'Cursed' reunion! Next to this main feature, we also added plenty of extra bonus-material for the DVD format (like the early, original promo clips and more recent live footage) and its companion bonus disc (composed of live songs from Rock Hard Festival and Wacken Open Air, both in 2011)...Watch out!" Today Noisecreep is hosting an exclusive stream of another new track from Kill Devil Hill's self-titled debut. Get a first listen to the song "Voodoo Doll" at this location. The following press release was also issued:
"It's not easy to say what catches the listener's attention first on Kill Devil Hill, the debut album by the newly formed band of the same name: the strong guitar hooks, the killer grooves, the dynamic production or the potent vocal melodies. Rex Brown, bassist of this super group and erstwhile member of Pantera and Down sees Kill Devil Hill in its entirety as an extremely exciting new band 'To me, this band is a musical adventure trip,' he reckons. Brown knows what he's talking about, after all he was involved in some of the most important rock and metal recordings of the past 30 years. So if Brown can hardly contain his enthusiasm, there must be something special to the Kill Devil Hill phenomenon." More...

Trevor Strnad of The Black Dahlia Murder has issued the following announcement about the band's bassist situation:
"Well kids, enough with all the secrets… it's about time we in The Black Dahlia Murder clue you fans in and tell all about our recent hush hush bassist situation… I'm sure some of you who have seen us on tour in the last months have grown curious as to who this mystery man bass extraordinaire could be and have wondered what long time bassist Ryan 'Bart' Williams could be up to. After months of tip-toeing around it, we've decided to break the silence and let you guys know the truth.
"After six long, grueling years of relentless back-to-back touring, Ryan Williams has decided to step down from his full time position in The Black Dahlia Murder to pursue a career in recording (please stop and check out his new gig here). Although the remaining members are indeed saddened by his decision, the good news is that Ryan will still be involved in the band in many ways, from continued contributions of songwriting (Ryan wrote those sick Robocop riffs in 'Malenchantments Of The Necrosphere,' amongst several others, mind you) to overseeing and co-producing future BDM recordings. As you will clearly see by the statements of all parties involved, the change is completely amicable, and the love and brotherhood we've shared with Ryan over the years remains untarnished. We wish him the absolute best of luck with Augmented Audio and all of his future endeavors.
"Max Lavelle was literally the first idea of a replacement for Ryan, we had toured alongside him when he was playing with Despised Icon a few different times and had the chance to become pretty good friends with the guy as well as be allowed the chance to see him perform live many times. Max is a diehard metal head, a great bassist, a monstrous live presence and a welcome shot of energy into the bloodstream of this band. His enthusiasm for forwarding the whole is inspiring and exactly what we need at this point in time." More...

Today Bloody Disgusting is hosting the latest “18 Days” lyric video from death metal merchants, Six Feet Under. The apocalyptic hymn comes off the band’s forthcoming new studio effort, "Undead," set for North American release on May 22nd, 2012 through Metal Blade Records. Check out the video at this location.
Notorious for his themes of murder, death, and the supernatural, on "Undead" vocalist and lyrical mastermind Chris Barnes revisits topics that will be familiar to fans of the band, though as always he brings something new to the table. Notes Barnes: “The hypocrisies of daily life, things that affect us that spawn aggression, loneliness, sadness, there’s a lot of emotions going on across the record, and I guess that the dark horror that humans cause is my niche.”
However, while Barnes has a very clear vision for his craft, he is always excited by the interpretations of his songs by those who listen to them, feeding on the emotional investment they put in. “I love it when people tell me what they’ve got from the music and the lyrics. It’s like being an artist, you put the painting up on the wall – you know what it is, but sometimes it’s a little abstract and someone sees something else in it, and that’s the biggest compliment to me. That I’m able to get inside someone’s head and they actually give thought to something presented to them is inspiring to me too, and something I always want to be able to do with this band.” More...

Bullet Tooth has issued the following announcement about inking a deal with Ohio metalcore band The Paramedic:
"Intensity, emotion and raw power are three ways to describe Dayton, OH’s The Paramedic. But to pigeon hole the band with just three words would simply be an injustice to this group. Formed in late 2010 by friends Jake Nolan (Guitar), Travis Adkins (Bass), Tony Hovater (Drums), Sean Salasny (Guitar) and Mike Luciano (Lead Vocals); The Paramedic is poised to spearhead the next generation of dynamic metalcore bands, thanks in part to Luciano’s diverse R&B background. The band delivers a unique mix blending the insanity of Asking Alexandria, the electro-sensibilities of Attack Attack, and the soulfulness of Jonny Craig.
"Living the dream is a philosophy that Mike Luciano and the guys thrive to live out on a daily basis and will have nothing stand in their way. Against his parents’ wishes, Luciano dropped out of college to pursue his dream of making it in the world of music. This intense internal struggle has made Luciano’s lyrics a personal one-of-a-kind statement that range from raising awareness towards rape to standing up for what you believe in. Judging by the nearly 300,000 views of their cover of Lil’ Wayne’s “6 Foot 7 Foot” on YouTube and their 40,000 fans on Facebook, all of the hard work and life altering decisions have been worth it.
"In early 2012, the bands’ dream finally came together when New Jersey based record label, Bullet Tooth, signed The Paramedic to a deal. Joining other acts such as Affiance and Serianna, the band is sure to reach new audiences that they only ever dreamed about." More...
Opeth has tamed its savage beast on its latest album “Heritage.” The placidity of said album has rubbed off on the band’s live performance, which is currently on display throughout America on their “Heritage Hunter” tour. Although subdued for the moment, Axenrot believes this ferocity will be released once again. However, he is fine with the prospect of never again playing death metal with the Opeth camp.
Opeth’s progressive brand of metal keeps Axenrot from becoming bored. Even without growls and drilling kick drums, Opeth still conveys a massive amount of heaviness and darkness. Although he’s content with playing in a band bereft of these characteristics, Axenrot still LOVES to play death metal. Having played in many of Sweden’s most renowned extreme metal acts since 1995, he has literally made a career out of producing fast and barbaric drum beats.
Before the modern masters of progressive metal took the stage in San Antonio,Texas, Metalunderground.com boarded Opeth’s bus for an interview with the band’s rhythmic backbone. We discussed Opeth’s current direction, where they are headed and how the fans perceive Opeth in the year 2012. We also dove deep into Axenrot’s time before Opeth and his inception into the band. Read on further to learn more about one of Sweden’s most prolific metal drummers. More...

"The writing process of our new record is officially done. The music on the new album will be more weird, electro-industrial and psycho than anything we've done before. Eye-poppin'shit at its top.

Australian thrash metal veterans Mortal Sin have announced that they will be breaking up for the fourth time in their history, following their most recent reformation in 2004. A statement from guitarist Ryan Huthnance reads as follows:
"It's time the rumours were laid to rest. Yes, Mortal Sin is finished. Due to changing personal circumstances, as well as priorities, Luke and Nathan have both decided that their time with the band is at an end. This decision was not made lightly, and was not a result of the actions and words made by other parties who would lead you to believe it was.
"The truth is, without passion, conviction, and love for the music you play, being in a band means nothing. While Andy, Dave and myself could easily continue and find new band members, without the core songwriting unit from the last two albums, it wouldn't be Mortal Sin. We're extremely proud of our last album 'Psychology Of Death', and we've completed the longest and most intense tour of the band's career - the Thrashfest Classics tour. These two milestones are a fitting way to close the 25 year journey that was Mortal Sin.
"On behalf of Mortal Sin, I'd like to thank you - the fans - for staying loyal to a band that's had more ups and downs than any other in Australia. Without you, this journey would have ended long ago. For those who'd like to follow the future musical exploits of this final lineup, Dave's band NEKROFEIST are about to release their new album, my band THE SEER just released a new single, and Luke will continue playing with his cover bands. We sincerely apologise to those who hoped to see us on the road in the shows we had booked."

Colombia just might be one of the forefathers of the extreme metal scene and it may have influenced some of the most nihilistic groups to come out of Europe. Yes, this South American land of extremes may have been one of the catalysts for the Scandinavian scene, ushering in a whole horde of sick and twisted metal bands. You may think that's an incredulous statement to make and a mighty tall order, but wait. There's a true story I am going to recount for you now.
Back in 1992, a few Colombian metal fans/musicians went up from Stavanger, Norway to a record shop in Oslo owned by Oystein Aarseth (better known as Euronymous). As they were going through the releases, they struck up a conversation with Euronymous about the country they were from, black metal in general and their respective bands. Euronymous became animated and said "Two bands from your city of Medellin influenced Mayhem's sound."
"Parabellum and Reencarnacion were a few of the true bands that shaped us. They captured a hellish environment and represented a true hardcore, evil sound that we emulated in the band."
Spoken by Euronymous himself a year before he died in infamy, and put in Spanish on the liner notes of the 2005 compilation "Tempus Mortiis" put out by Blasfemia Records. This anthology featured Parabellum, a nihilistic affair redolent in that evil backwards riffing that characterized the band. Songs such as "Engendro 666" and "Madre Muerta" influenced Mayhem and other Norwegian bands and helped create a whole genre of evilness, blasphemy and sickos.
At the time, neither Parabellum nor Reencarnacion were satanists, but critiqued Christianity and Catholicism and played an early prototype of metal that predated the "black" genre in 1981 (with the exception of Venom) and was called "ultra" metal or "anti-technical" metal in Colombia since it was raw and primitive musicianship.
