You can expect the 12 tracks they recorded to appear on "Doom and Gloom," currently scheduled for a May 10th release.
"Regardless of what thoughts enter your mind, 'Doom and Gloom' isnt a sorrowful record, instead its full of heavy riffs, ansgt ridden vocals, with a powerful attitude to get back at people who make human beings look bad," states the band in a blog posting. "There are a total of 3 really softer songs, but then again there is 8 heavy songs, so there is something for everyone."

The UK's Download festival has update their website with the following:
"Returning for a second year Kids In Glass Houses are moving up a stage to make more room for their energetic live set. Joining them on 13, 14, 15 June are Black Tide, The Wildhearts, Rival Schools, Haunts, Zebrahead, Skindred, Invasion, Canterbury, Twin Method and Amon Amarth."
Rhythm guitarist of All Shall Perish, Ben Orum has issued the following studio update:
"Well, well well.. what do you know? It's an All Shall Perish studio update!
"Great news is finally here, we have been working frantically around the clock with Zach Ohren at Castle Ultimate Studios to create what we concider the heaviest, most cutting edge Perish album to date. Listening back on what we have already laid down in the studio, its apparent that we have upped our game again compared to the last CD. The new stuff literally is sending chills down my spine!
"A lot of you guys have been asking for use to upload a track, some pre production, ANYTHING just to hear what direction ASP is going. While it is tempting to share with you what we have created so far, we want you to hear it at 100%. We promise that as soon as we have a completed track, you will find it RIGHT HERE, so keep checking back.
"Last week we finished up all of the drums, rhythm guitars, and bass guitar. This week, we have moved on to vocals and guitar solos. Its incredible how fast the whole process has been going, and it really shows that ASP is becoming a well oilled machine in the studio.
"Stay tuned for some video footage!"
French prog-metallers ANTHROPIA have issued the following update:
"The mix for The Chain Reaction is now over, and we are now focused on the finalization of the different artworks for the album.
First, as you may see, we have a new 'in-your-face' logo here (click photo). Don't worry if you're a fan of the first one, it will be exclusively dedicated to all The Ereyn Chronicles episodes and will be referred as the Ereyn logo at the store.
You can also notice a new design for our MySpace page, which reveals elements of the future cover and concept. Hope that this will tickle your curiosity...
Finally, our MySpace address changed. It doesn't change anything for MySpace users, but if you have external links to it, please update them with this URL: www.myspace.com/anthropia.
Ok, that was good. What's coming next now? We will put very soon samples of the new album for you. It sounds really really great and we can't wait to see and hear people's reactions."
OBITUARY frontman John Tardy has issued the following update:
"14 flights, 11 countries and 8 shows in 12 days!!! What a run that was.
4 great shows in Brasil, packed house in Chile and almost 2,000 fans in a bullfighting ring in Venezuela! Everything was going great when we got word that the final show in Ecuador was canceled.
The club we were scheduled to play caught fire and tragically killed 17 people inside, one week before we were to play there. When you play places like this all the time and then hear about things like this it really makes you think!
We were then asked to play a benefit concert where the proceeds would go to the families of the victims. When we said we would do it I don't think we new what we were in for.
First, there was almost 20,000 fans that showed up and we were the headlining band. Then, when they started to bring in survivors, friends and family members of the deceased into our backstage, it got real sad very fast.
This was an entire community that came together and to be part of it was something I will never forget."
Legendary Canadian progressive thrashers Voivod have issued an update regarding their upcoming live appearances.
"A lot has happened since the band's last live appearance. The band had taken time off to begin writing what would become the album Katorz. In April 2005 while the new album was in progress, guitarist Denis 'Piggy' D'Amour became ill before recording began and sadly died of colon cancer. It took awhile to recover from the sudden passing of Denis before Michel 'Away' Langevin, Denis 'Snake' Belanger and Jason 'Jasonic' Newsted could begin to assemble the songs from the demos and create Katorz.
Discussions of a tribute show and possible guitar players for it followed, yet it just did not seem right to perform without Denis, but time does help heal wounds and this summer Voivod feel it is time to perform the music Denis helped create once more.
On June 22nd, Voivod will perform in Montreal as part of the Heavy MTL festival and July 26th, 2008 in Calgary for the Monsters Of Rock festival (here) with original bass player Jean-Yves Theriault ('Blacky') for the first time in 17 years.
Dan Mongrain from the Quebec band MARTYR, a good friend of the band, will play guitar. Songs from the early catalogue will be the focus for these short festival sets. Jason Newsted is still very much part of the Voivod family and is working with the band on the new record (also constructed from the 2004 demos) along with Jean-Yves Theriault and Eric Forrest. However, Newsted is unable to perform live at this point.
Denis and Michel are determined to play more shows in the future to celebrate Denis 'Piggy' D'Amour's legacy.

Ironic and completely original, experimental electro-grind duo I Set My Friends On Fire has signed to Epitaph Records with plans to release their debut album in the fall.
Consisting of Matt (Vocals) and Nabil (Instruments/Programming/Vocals), I Set My Friends On Fire defies conventional genres by cross-breeding electronica with elements of grind and hardcore for one of the freshest sounds around. Formed in late 2007, the duo became an overnight hit with their incredible rock/screamo cover of Soulja Boy's "Crank Dat," which attracted over 50,000 plays per day and the attention of Epitaph owner Brett Gurewitz. In March of 2008 the band signed to Epitaph Records and began writing music for their first album due out this fall.
I Set My Friends On Fire's unique music, hot merch and hilarious self-made videos have helped the group build massive underground buzz and a legion of fans via the group's Myspace page. With over 6 million page views and eighty nine thousand friends, ISMFOF are the face of DIY in the digital age.
"The album will have every genre you ever heard of mixed into one big bowl," explains Matt. "It's going to be crazy! Not your usual listen." "Fans should brace themselves for something that is very different and unique, but also very familiar at the same time," continues Nabil. "We pride ourselves on thinking outside the box as well as not having any limitations musically or creatively-speaking."
Fans can get a rare glimpse of I Set My Friends On Fire performing live at Bamboozle on Saturday May 2nd at 9:30 PM on the Nokia Ticket Rush Stage.
Viking metal act AMON AMARTH have issued the following update:
"On May 1st (Labour day here in Sweden) we enter Fascination Street Studio to start recording our seventh full-length album. We have ten killer songs, some classic AMON AMARTH tunes, some really epic moments and some of the most brutal stuff we've ever written! We are confident that this will be our best and most diverse album to date! Jens Bogren will be producing the album; he produced 'With Oden On Our Side'. We're looking forward to yet another successful collaboration. We'll barricade ourselves for the next month and a half. The album will be recorded in the traditional way, starting with drums, followed by guitars, bass, and vocals. There are plans for some cool guest appearance but nothing we can reveal just yet. We will try our best to keep you updated with vlogs, photos and a studio diary. Provided that we can tear ourselves away from the PS3, Wii and of course... a healthy serving of Swedish vodka."
Devildriver have posted their new video, "Clouds Over California" online. You can check it out below. The song comes fresh off of the bands latest album "The Last Kind Words." More...
Controversial Finnish monster rockers Lordi have begun recording their new album.
Commented the group: "We don't wanna record 'The Arockalypse Part 2', but we won't forget our roots either."
The band had to choose from over 60 songs to record. "It's the same positive problem as always," laughs guitarist Amen. "Oh yeah, 60 demos is a lot to listen to, but at the same time it's a lot of fun. All the band members took part in the writing process and that was very positive too."
This album marks the first time bassist Ox and keyboardist Lady Awa will be in the studio at the start of a recording.
"I'm so excited! I just can't wait to hear the final results. The new songs kick ass so hard! I honestly think that this is gonna be the best LORDI album," says a thrilled Ox.
Keyboardist Awa states: "I joined the band at the time when LORDI was recording 'The Arockalypse' album, so I had to go straight to the studio and I didn't have much time to get to know the new songs," Awa says. "Now I've had a couple of years — such a joyride — and I have had time to 'get in' into the band. So now I'm even more excited about making the new album, choosing and practicing the songs. I have even tried to compose a little bit by myself."
1980s mainstay British rockers Whitesnake have posted their new music video for the song "Lay Down Your Love" online. You can check it out below. The song is from the bands new studio "Good To Be Bad." More...

German power metallers HELLOWEEN check in with the following:
"The Hellish Rock package finished the Brazilian part of their Latin America tour with two shows to remember: Being the first international metal act ever to perform in Fortaleza, Helloween played an open air concert in front of more than 5,000 enthusiastic fans, whereas it was the first time in the band's 25 year history to guest in Recife – and 4,000 fans made sure it was definitely not the last time...
Among many delicious Caipirinhas, further highlights were the show in Manaus, the 1.6 million habitant capital of the Amazoas State (which was one of the hottest shows the band ever played) and Andi's flight over the Amazonas and the surrounding primeval forest.
Helloween say a big "THANK YOU" to over 25,000 faithful Brazilian fans and head towards Peru..."

EXTREME singer Gary Cherone checks in with the following update:
"EXTREME FANS HAVE SPOKEN!
And you are right! I apologize to you. Extreme have the most loyal and patient fans on the planet and you deserve an update every once in a while from the band. Is that too much to ask? OK enough with the groveling.
The record is finished except for one lead vocal and a few backgrounds. Nuno (Bettencourt) is working overtime finishing up the mixes, and believe the hype!
These are the best performances of the band... ever!
You're gonna hear everything you expect from Extreme, and everything you don't!
The release of the record will ultimately depend on the label, and what's best for the band. We're working on an American run for mid/late summer. Europe, Japan, and the rest of the world to follow!
Until the next time, yeah I know, what was so hard about that?

In a move meant to get fans into premium seats and bypass ticket brokers and scalpers, Nine Inch Nails has reserved tickets to each of its upcoming summer tour dates for registered users of its Web site, NIN.com.
The limited allotment of tickets will be made available through online pre-sales only to users registered under their legal names on NIN.com. Tickets acquired through these pre-sales will be marked with the purchaser's name and will have to be picked up at the appropriate venue on the date of the event. A valid government-issued ID matching the name printed on the ticket will be required for entrance.
The pre-sales will begin approximately 72 hours before general online ticket sales for each event.
Nine Inch Nails' summer tour kicks off July 25 at the Pemberton Festival in Pemberton, British Columbia, and continues through Sept. 6.
Nine Inch Nails' new fan ticketing procedure follows similar strategies from bands like Pearl Jam and Maroon 5, who have also required fans who purchase tickets from their Web sites to pick up tickets with valid I.D. at the concert only.
Flaw / Five.Bolt.Main front-man Chris Volz has teamed with former Flaw guitarist Jason Daunt to form Foundation. The band will perform their first show on May 9th at Headliners in Louisville, KY. Two demo tracks are available on the bands MySpace.
The new band is not expected to affect Flaw’s re-union.
Dino Cazares', best known for his time with Fear Factory, band Divine Heresy has fired their singer Tommy Cummings. Headbangers Ball has posted the following blog with quote from guitaist Cazares:
"He gave us 10 different reasons why we should stop — 'My microphone doesn't work, I got diarrhea, the monitors are fucked up' — whatever he could think of. We decided that's not fair to the fans. We wanted to give them a full show."
In part, the other members of Divine Heresy decided to finish the gig because they didn't think Cummings was being honest about why he wanted to cut the set short. "We felt that he wanted to end the show early to go hang out at the New England Metal Fest, which we were supposed to be performing at the next day," Cazares said.
But when Divine Heresy blasted into the next song, Cummings became unglued. He tried to pry the drumsticks from Tim Yeung’s hands, then he shoved Cazares, knocking him down. "The venue has a weird step onstage, and I hit the step and fell after he pushed me," Cazares said. "He just caught me off balance. It was extremely unprofessional, and, in my head I just knew it was over with him."
The Poughkeepsie incident was the final straw in a relationship that had grown increasingly strained over time. From the start, Cummings' hardcore and hip-hop background clashed with the rest of the band’s brutal death metal orientation, and as the lead singer, he seemed to see himself as the leader of the group even though the band was formed by Cazares. "He's a big, intimidating guy and he knows how to use that to his advantage," the guitarist explained. "We didn’t agree on a lot of things and we thought it was better that he left."
Nine Inch Nails and Stone Temple Pilots will headline the 10th Voodoo Music Experience with R.E.M., Billbord.com has revealed. The event will be held Oct. 24-26 at New Orleans' City Park; tickets begin going on sale Friday (May 2).
Also on the bill are the Neville Brothers, making their first appearance at Voodoo Music Experience. Additional local acts set to appear include the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Irving Mayfield's New Orleans Jazz Orchestra and the New Orleans Bingo! Show.
Last year's Voodoo Music Experience featured performances by Rage Against The Machine, Smashing Pumpkins, Wilco, Tiesto, Kings Of Leon, Ben Harper, Fall Out Boy, Common, Sinead O'Connor, Galactic and the Black Crowes.
Seattle, Washington hardcore band Sinking Ships is apparently calling it quits. Though no formal announcement has been made, the group has now publicly stated that their "last two shows" will be at Rain Fest in Seattle and Sound and Fury in Southern California.
Formed in 2004, Sinking Ships has released material with Revelation Records and Excursion Records, among others.
On Saturday, March 22, 2008 I made a point to get out to the best (if not only) local Frederick, Maryland metal venue, Krug's Place, to catch a local show. My main incentive to go was to see two bands I'd already seen there and enjoyed: Live to Die and Fallen Martyr. Of course, I was interested in checking out the new bands as well, and happy to get out to see some live metal and not have to drive an hour or more to do so. More...
