Rumors have been circulating of a breakup after Exodus cancelled its appearance at the Maryland Deathfest, and the group has now checked in with the following statement about the status of the band:
"We have recently observed a whirlwind of speculation, conspiracy theories, and just plain ole dumb-assed comments on the internet regarding Exodus' future and that of Gary Holt's commitment to this band. The following is an attempt to shed some light on actual facts, as well as trying to clear the air.
"The reason we cancelled our appearance at this years Maryland Death Fest was, in fact, due to Gary's commitment to his sudden and seriously ill father. Actually, just days prior to the start of the Metal Alliance tour, we were making arrangements to have someone fill in for Gary due to his unknown status. As things worked out, his father was able to recover to a somewhat stable condition, yet he is still not 'out of the woods' and continues to be a closely monitored. More...

A brand new full-length album from Sacred Oath is scheduled for worldwide release on May 28th of this year. “Fallen” is the 6th studio album from the power metal quartet currently celebrating 25 years in the business.
Produced by lead singer/guitarist Rob Thorne at his studio in Connecticut, all 10 songs were recorded with the original 1988 line-up, including Pete Altieri (bass), Kenny Evans (drums), and Glen Cruciani (guitar).
“The four of us haven’t recorded anything together since 'Darkness Visible' for a variety of reasons,” says Thorne, who has produced six of the band’s more recent albums. “I threw the idea out there of doing an EP together to celebrate our 25th anniversary, and everyone jumped on board. It quickly escalate! d into a monstrous LP. It’s very exciting.”
The track listing is as follows (order subject to change):
King Of Your World
Misery Loves Company

The band chose to bring back artist Jason Beam for this release, whose artwork also appears on “Darkness Visible” (2007), “Till Death Do Us Part” (2008), and most recently “Spells and Incantations” (2012). “Fallen” will be released by Angel Thorne Music and distributed by MVD Entertainment. More...

InsideOut Music is immensely pleased to announce the signing of progressive-rock powerhouse Bigelf for the release of a forthcoming new album later this year. Label head Thomas Waber says about the signing:
"We have been talking to Bigelf for quite some time now and I am really pleased that we finally managed to make this happen! Bigelf are an excellent addition to the InsideOut Music roster!"
It's been a few years since we've heard any activity from the Bigelef camp, so who better to explain to us what's been going on than the band's mastermind Damon Fox himself:
"Finally! Bigelf lands on a planet whose atmosphere is synonymous with progressive rock and heavy metal. One of my all-time favourite quotes is, 'Be bold and mighty forces will come to your aid...' I'm ecstatic that InsideOut/Century Media and Mike Portnoy have joined 'forces' with Bigelf.
"First, I want to elaborate on what has been happening 'inside' the band since 2010, there have been numerous rumours on the internet that I fired everyone in Bigelf, this is completely untrue.
"After the juggernaut of 'Cheat The Gallows' came to a halt, the business and personal infrastructure of Bigelf imploded and an unexpected hiatus occurred leaving the band in complete disarray. A myriad of personal, financial and domestic matters had enveloped myself as well as certain members of the group. There also comes a time when deep down inside it just doesn't feel right anymore, and one has to face the music that the end is near. Transparency no longer exists and with that, clarity and perspective are lost. More...
Heavy stoner/sludge/doom band Red Sun -- founded April 20th, 2003 in Warren, Ohio -- is celebrating the group's tenth anniversary by throwing a huge concert in Columbus, OH, on Saturday April 20th, 2013.
The band -- consisting of Zach Germaniuk (guitar/vocals), Joseph Rosenblum (drums/vocals), and Roger Vincent (bass/vocals) -- has come a long way over the past ten years and a lot of stories have come out of that. According to Germaniuk:
"We started out as three gawky high school kids growing up in Warren, OH (birthplace of Dave Grohl). We've had like 5 bass players through that time and I'd say the fact that we kept the band together for ten years through a lot of personal adversity, overcoming addictions, living and working in different cities and still making time for this particular band is a huge milestone in itself. When we started, we were really the only high school band from our town that was actively playing shows in other cities, and I think we really took it to heart at a very young age. I think we've made more mistakes than milestones, honestly, but we're really trying our best to learn from those mistakes and live up to the expectations of our mentors and ourselves, too." More...
Stereokiller is currently streaming a brand new track from "Aeonic Obliteration," the debut full-length from Erie, Pennsylvania-based deathsquad Extinction Protocol. Unleash "Chained To Oblivion" at this location. The following press release was also issued about the band:
"Radiating the cataclysmic energy of an imploding galaxy, Extinction Protocoal merges modern groove/slam tactics with primal, classic death metal vitality, bridging the most schizophrenic old-school riffage with overpowering breakdowns. 'Chained To Oblivion,' the fifth of nine tracks found on Aeonic Obliteration, demonstrates the band’s brutal trade perfectly, a guttural, earthmoving anthem for annihilation.
"A nihilistic death metal vortex, Extinction Protocol’s debut album, Aeonic Obliteration lyrically scrutinizes the greed and corruption of mankind thus concluding mankind’s eventual downfall due to genetic testing and world altering events.
"With nine devastating songs packed into a nearly thirty-three minute event horizon, Aeonic Obliteration features stellar production values courtesy of Ivan at Anthropocide Studios (Abominable Putridity) and full-color cosmic destruction ala JoeJesus of DeviantArt, and will see release on May 14th worldwide via NYC-based D.I.Y. label P2." Finland's Oddland has just launched a guitar play through for the track "Lines Of Silver Blood." The band comments:
"We decided to do the guitar play-through on this song because it probably has some of the most technical guitar parts of the album. We figured people might be interested to see how they´re played. The live guitar tracks were recorded on top of the album version, and Ville (our drummer) was in charge of shooting and editing the whole thing. Have a look, won't you!"
This is the first play through that the band has launched from current album "Treachery Of Senses." The video of guitarists Sakari Ojanen & Jussi Poikonen playing along with "Lines Of Silver Blood" can be seen here: More...

Richmond, Virginia-based Forcefield Records is pleased to announce the signing of Italian doom miscreants Grime. The following press release was issued about the deal:
"Forged just three years ago in Trieste, Italy, Grime spews a cogent wall of filth, decay and soul-scarring sludge metal battery. Their forthcoming offering comes in the form of the fittingly dubbed 'Deteriorate.'
"The follow-up to their six-track self-released debut, which Pure Grain Audio simply called 'dirty-as-fuck,' offers up a bottom heavy exhibition of severing doom derived of misanthropy, anguish and hurt feelings. Self-described as the sound of 'a decaying swamp filled with trash,' Grime’s slow, heavy groove is earnest and vicious, their mammoth guitar riffs are sharp and crusted with rust, their drums and bass hit with the unstoppable power of a violent mudslide.
"Deteriorate’s eight tracks were recorded at Igloo Audiofactory in Italy by Enrico Baraldi, mixed and mastered by sound wizard Billy Anderson and will see official release on CD, LP and digitally via Forcefield Records May 7th. Fans of Iron Monkey, Noothgrush, Grief and Eyehategod are demanded to pay heed.
"Grime's ultimate goal is delivering their sonic destruction to a town near yours and next week they’ll do it alongside Richmond doomdoers Cough (on select dates). The short but deviant run will begin in Slovenia and charge through Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, and the Czech Republic before coming to a close in Austria. See you in Hell, Europe." More...

Pyrithion has released a new in-studio video for "The Burden of Sorrow," which is to be released April 16th on Metal Blade Records. Check out the clip below. Metal Blade also comments:
"It's a struggle for some bands to get started, while others appear to seamlessly come together. With years of perspective and experience, the three members of Pyrithion have created a dark and intense death metal record almost overnight. The individual members' prior success aside, the music speaks for itself. In an exclusive studio video, shot and edited by Ryan Glisan, fans can catch a glimpse of what it's like to record inside Lambesis Studios."
Singer Tim Lambesis, who is best known for his work as the front man of As I Lay Dying, explains: "I have wanted to do a heavier and more traditionally metal band for a while. Being that I own a recording studio, I thought a great place to start was by asking my engineer who the best guitar player is that he has recorded. I wanted to team him up with one of my favorite guitar players growing up."
Ready for a full throttle metal assault to perk up your mid-week slump? Today we have the pleasure of teaming up with Texas DIY champions Seeker to premiere a brand new skull crushing single, "She."
Comments Seeker vocalist, Bryce Lucien, "We're extremely hard on ourselves, and we are constantly trying to push things further and further with each new song; 'She' is no exception. This is the fastest, angriest, and most chaotic track that we have ever released, and we can't wait to get out on the road and play it live."
Experience the crushing chaos of "She" for yourself through the player below (the song may take a moment to load after hitting "play").
Seeker burst onto the scene in late 2011, playing its first show on October 1st, 2011 before heading out on a debut tour the following week. Lucien describes the band’s sound as, “fast, aggressive, pissed off heavy metal. Everything we do is very raw, passionate and honest.”

U.S. act Archaic Eclilpse has posted the following message online about deciding to call it quits due to constant lineup changes:
"Hey everyone, so I know we have been silent lately. We have been trying for about a year now to fill our line-up and finish the CD we are working on but it has all been in vain. After a lot of thought we have decided as of today that Archaic Eclipse is disbanding.
"As a band it doesn't make sense to continue on when we cannot fill a line up to play shows. It has been an endless cycle of finding members, having them learn the old songs and by the time we are ready to go into writing new music people leave and we are stuck going through the cycle again. This year Warbringer has been working on new material, but will take a break this weekend for the group's first trip to South America.
"It's a tremendous feeling to have heavy metal fans in South America continuously ask us to perform in their home countries, let alone have promoters willing to invest in us to finally make this happen," states drummer Carlos Cruz. "This 3-day weekend of performances will hopefully open the door to more opportunities for Warbringer to perform in many more countries there for the demanding fans. It's fact that South America upholds a die-hard heavy metal fanbase, and we'll be sure to NOT disappoint!"
The lineup for these shows will be the same lineup that has been touring together since last summer, which included 6 weeks of European dates and 10 headlining shows in Australia. Despite sharing the road for almost a year, the group never made an official announcement about guitarist Jeff Potts and bassist Ben Mottsman (both formerly of Mantic Ritual) joining the hard-working band-- until now.
