Los Angeles, California's Fall To Grace is a metal band that doesn't rely on any kind of formula. This is a band that seems to understand that at this point they really are onto something good here. Most bands on the famed Hollywood metal scene right now that try to do what Godsmack does or what Alice In Chains did, never quite seem to distance themselves from the original source of inspiration. FTG is a musical unit that flatout has the talent on stage and I see so much potential for success. I had FTG's guitarist, Silas Burke, answer some questions recently. More...

Due to "conflicting schedules," former MEGADETH/ICED EARTH bassist James MacDonough will **NOT** be joining SPEED\KILL/HATE on their upcoming Metal Crusaders North American tour with VADER, KATAKLYSM, DESTRUCTION, GRAVEWORM and THE ABSENCE after all. "We are currently seeking a bass player available to fill in for [regular SPEED\KILL/HATE bassist] Derek [Tailer] on our upcoming tour beginning in May," SPEED\KILL/HATE write on their web site. "Back-up vocals are a must. Interested parties send an email to email@example.com with your contact info (phone, address, etc.)."
SPEED\KILL/HATE is the "old-school thrash" project featuring OVERKILL (past and present) members Tailer, Dave Linsk (guitar), and Tim Mallare (drums). The band's debut album, "Acts of Insanity", was released in February 2005 via Listenable Records. A video for the song "Face the Pain" was filmed on April 6, 2005 with director Anthony M. Bongiovi of TBJ Entertainment, Inc., who has previously worked with SLAYER ("War at the Warfield" DVD), MARILYN MANSON ("Guns, God & Government" DVD), AC/DC and GODSMACK, among others.
MacDonough parted ways with MEGADETH in February due to "personal differences." His replacement in MEGADETH is James Lomenzo, who has previously played with BLACK LABEL SOCIETY and WHITE LION, among other bands.
MacDonough will be filling in for NEVERMORE bassist and founding member Jim Sheppard while Sheppard takes a few weeks away from the band to undergo a medical procedure for Crohn's disease, which he has been battling for 15 years. MacDonough will step in for at least 10 shows, starting May 5 in Buffalo, New York. NEVERMORE's tour with IN FLAMES, THROWDOWN and EVERGREY runs through May 28 in Tallahassee, Florida.
With GHOUL's new album, "Splatterthrash" coming soon, the band have posted a new MP3 on they MySpace page. if you go to the GHOUL myspace page you can hear a brand new track from the album titled "Gutbucket Blues". Animosity and bassist Dan Kenny have parted ways. Evan Brewer of Reflux has subsequently joined the band. Here's a statement from Animosity:
"We are extremely excited to announce that on our upcomming tour with FASSW, Cattle Decapitation, Misery Index, and JFAC as well as on all of the Necrophagist dates we will have Evan Brewer of Reflux jamming with us on bass. As long time friends and personal fans of his innovative and creative playing, we think that Evan is going to be a great addition to the gnarly party machine that is Animosity. As for Danny, who has been playing with us for over a year now, we plan to continue to support him in his future musical ventures as we are sure that he will soon be pumping out some serious brutal death metal. We can't wait to rock...see yall soon."
Oakland's All Shall Perish will unveil their second Nuclear Blast Records offering this summer. Entitled "The Price Of Existence," the new album reportedly "shows incredible maturity and a more focused approach to both songwriting and delivery."
"The album is 99% done, we're just waiting on the artwork now," boasts drummer Matt Kuykendall. "The new are light years ahead of the last album, it's a really diverse album and a little epic as well."
The band have enlisted famed tattoo artist Adam Barton to handle the cover art for "The Price Of Existence," which will be released in August. Expect consistent touring in support of the new album, starting off with a full US tour alongside Suicide Silence and Light This City throughout July and August.
In the meantime you can check out a demo MP3 of their new song "Eradication" on the band's website.
VICIOUS RUMORS drummer Larry Howe has joined W.A.S.P. as the replacement for Stet Howland. "[Larry] auditioned a few weeks ago and Blackie [Lawless, W.A.S.P. mainman] called him back and told him he had the gig," VICIOUS RUMORS bassist Dave Starr said. "He flies to Los Angeles this weekend to start work with the band for the new tour dates that start soon.
"As far as Larry and VICIOUS RUMORS goes, we have a break now with no tour dates while Geoff [Thorpe, VICIOUS RUMORS mainman] finishes the new [VR] CD so the timing is good for everyone," continued Dave. "Larry says Blackie wants him to do the tour and then what happens next will be figured out down the line. Larry remains a member of VICIOUS RUMORS. I still want Larry to do the WILDESTARR CD with my wife and I, and I hope he can still do that at some point later this year.
"This is great news for Larry, and I gave him congrats on the phone. It's a win-win situation for everyone involved."
W.A.S.P.'s U.S. tour is scheduled to kick off May 19 in Sacramento, California. W.A.S.P. had utilized the services of YNGWIE MALMSTEEN / SILVER MOUNTAIN drummer Patrick Johansson for the U.S. dates they played in February/March.

The new material is being developed at the moment and will differ from both 'Written In Waters' and 'Carheart' yet still retain the trademark off the wall guitar sounds of those releases."
Former DEATH/MASSACRE members Kam Lee (vocals) and Terry Butler (bass; also in SIX FEET UNDER) have joined forces with ex-NASTY SAVAGE drummer Curtis Beeson and former DOWN BY LAW guitarist Sam Williams in a brand new Tampa, Florida-based band called DENIAL FIEND. According to the group's official bio, "DENIAL FIEND began only a few months ago in the beginning of 2006" and specializes in a musical style "that's rooted in the tradition of classic thrash and death metal bands such as CELTIC FROST, MASSACRE, and VENOM, with lyrics that revolve around themes of horror and slasher B movies of the '50s, '60s, '70s and '80s."
With a buzzing anti-major label sentiment palpable in the air Thursday night, April 27th at Hollywood's famed Whisky A Go Go, I was fortunate to have the red carpet rolled out for me with V.I.P. treatment, for which I am eternally thankful to Jeff Totten, I.R.A.T.E. and The Project Independent Tour. I truly celebrated in the fact that I was witnessing one of the real success stories of underground metal this year. I also must say that I was more than taken aback at the overall turnout and strong sense of unity in the air.
