Luciferion, Lost Horizon Mastermind's New Project

A new death/black metal band has been born, consisting of Wojtek Lisicki (mastermind of the Swedish bands LUCIFERION and LOST HORIZON) and members of the bands FOREST OF IMPALED (USA) and DAMNATION (Poland).

"In the nearest future there will occur a mighty fusion between some members of LUCIFERION (SWE), FOREST OF IMPALED (USA) and (in a way) DAMNATION (POL). This is going to result in a totally new formation. There is no band name yet nor a web site, but the recording of the material is already in progress, partially in USA and partially in Sweden. Four songs are already finished and the promotional mix is sat on 28 of April 2005. Although, there is still NO vocalist established. So if You are the one then read the advertisement on the "NEWS" section on luciferion.com."

In other news, there will be a chat meeting with Wojtek Lisicki, the mastermind of LOST HORIZON and LUCIFERION, on Friday, April 29th, 2005, via the website of the Swedesh true/power metallers LOST HORIZON. LOST HORIZON are also looking for a suitable singer and are describing on their homepage how to apply.

Bleeding Through Begin Recording "The Truth"

Bleeding Through have entered the studio to begin work on "The Truth," this year's much-buzzed about follow-up to the band's breakthrough album, "This is Love, This is Murderous," which was issued by Trustkill in 2003.

"It's going to be a brutal, pissed off record that will be much more blunt and direct in its lyrics, sound, and presentation," explained singer Brandan Schieppati. Bleeding Through spent all of January at home in Orange County working on material, pausing for their first headlining tour of Europe in February, before resuming work for the entire month of March and into early April. "The music is a bit more simplified, the songs are somewhat shorter, and it's all much more to the point," Schieppati added.

New tracks include: "Love In Slow Motion," "Tragedy Of Empty Streets," "Hollywood Prison," "A Line In The Sand," and "The Truth." Fans who caught the band's performance at this year's New England Metal and Hardcore Festival were treated to some new material; there will be more at this weekend's Bamboozle Festival in New Jersey.

The band chose producer Rob Caggiano (Cradle Of Filth) to help them execute their vision. Work began in earnest this week at Los Angeles' Cherokee Studios (Guns N' Roses, David Bowie, Michael Jackson's Thriller) and will continue at various studios throughout Southern California until the end of May.

Bleeding Through will tour Japan and Australia for the first time in June, venturing back to the UK for a week of shows with Zao and stopping over for appearances at both the Fury (France) and Pressure (Germany) festivals.

The following month sees the start of this year's Strhess Tour, which will be headlined by Bleeding Through, with support coming from Darkest Hour, Zao, Misery Signals and Fight Paris. After that the band can be seen in the South and East Coast during their two-week stint on the Warped Tour. The Truth is scheduled for release this fall through Trustkill.

Shining Fury To Record New Album

One and a half years after the release of their debut album "Last Sunrise," Shining Fury are ready to record their second strike. The band has been going through a few line-up changes over the past few months, but are now stronger than ever before. The new line-up is as follows:

Francesco Neretti – vocals
Francesco Tonazzini – guitars
Federico Accardo- guitars
Andrea Bartoletti – bass
Ross Lukather – drums

Musically Shining Fury is still a trademark for fast, powerful and straight Heavy Metal the Italian way! The band has demoed a few songs over the past few weeks that easily blow away their debut album!

Look forward to their new album in late 2005!

Symphony X Not On Gigantour, Work On New Music

Symphony X will NOT be part of the Gigantour; finishing the new cd takes precedence over going out on tour.

Any South American festival dates are NOT confirmed as of today; when/if that changes, it will be announced.

Guitarist Michael Romeo has written almost 2 hours worth of music, & is now taking the time to find the right song title and lyrical content for each song. Each song has a certain feel to it, so it's important to make sure the lyrics reflect that feel. The 'darker' tone that they're aiming for which has been mentioned in previous studio reports will apply more to the orchestration and the lyrical content than the vocals, for those who continue to muse over the likelihood of singer Russell Allen doing death metal growls. Much of that dark tone would lend itself to ghostly or horror themes (they're tossing around such ideas as Paradise Lost, and the works of Edgar Allan Poe, for example), but Michael Romeo says nothing is definite as far as lyrics go. He's also working on fine tuning the orchestration for the 'longer song', which also has a darker feel to it; that said, he wants it to be clear that it will not be 'an epic' like The Odyssey. One major aim throughout the writing process is making sure that the cd remains true to the Symphony X style, and kick things up a notch as well, without it sounding just like music they've done before; "I want to be excited about the music, so I know the fans will be excited about it" he said.

Brutality Split Up Again

Tampa death metallers BRUTALITY have apparently once again disbanded after Poland's Still Dead Productions "completely backed out of their end of the deal" to release the band's next album, according to a post on the group's web site. The band's final recording lineup was as follows:

Scott Reigel - Lead Vocals
Jeff Acres - Bass/Vocals
Mausolus Arguelles Von Kiszka - Vocals/Guitars
Demian Heftel - Lead Guitars
Jim Coker – Drums

A three-song demo was completed in June 2003 with the above lineup containing the songs "As Darkness Falls", "I Deny", and "Ashes and Snow". All three cuts, along with "Brutality" and "Gates of Thorn", were expected to be re-recorded for the album.

Another Ozzfest Second Stage "Mystery Band" Slot

Ozzfest.com has added a second "mystery band" slot to the lineup of acts performing on the Hot Topic second stage at this year's travelling festival. BLOODSIMPLE, the New York-based band featuring former members of VISION OF DISORDER, DOWNSET and MEDICATION, are a favorite to fill one of the slots. There is no word yet on which act the second slot will go to.

Earlier this week, Ozzfest organizers announced that VELVET REVOLVER will be taking over for IRON MAIDEN as one of Ozzfest's main attractions when this year's traveling festival hits Albuquerque, New Mexico, on August 23; IRON MAIDEN will be no-shows for the last seven dates of this summer's Ozzfest because of previous touring commitments they'd made overseas.

Arch Enemy ResignsTo Century Media Records

Swedish death metallers ARCH ENEMY have re-signed with Century Media Records. The Press release is as follows:

Metal titans ARCH ENEMY – whose dynamic mixture of melody and aggression has earned them massive critical acclaim, a rabid worldwide fan base and a slot on this summer’s Ozzfest – have officially signed a new agreement that sees Century Media Records, in conjunction with band leader Mike Amott’s Savage Messiah Music label, become the home for the group’s future albums worldwide outside Southeast Asia.

The band is currently wrapping up work on their highly anticipated new full-length album "Doomsday Machine", which is set for a July 25 release in Europe (July 26 in North America). “We have all been working hard in the studio to make the ultimate metal album,” Mike says. “The drums sound totally amazing, as Daniel [Erlandsson] has excelled himself yet again and the grooves he's created are catchy but powerful as hell. People will be stunned when they hear what he has done.

“I think all great metal needs that killer mix of classic riffs and ripping solos, something that has been a bit of a dying art recently,” he continues. “We are doing our best to recreate that mix on this new album, and one thing I can guarantee is that there will be tons of guitar for fans to headbang to. All in all, I am really happy with the songs and I believe we have found the right balance of melody and brutality – the ARCH ENEMY trademark! Welcome to the Doomsday Machine.” More...
