American brutal death metallers Pathology make their return from the studio with a new album titled "Legacy of the Ancients." The upcoming Victory Records debut, slated for release on July 6th, was engineered by Jeff Forest at Doubletime Studios in the band’s home base of San Diego, CA and was mixed and mastered by Erik Rutan at Mana Studios in Tampa, FL.
“We feel the recording came out extremely heavy and exactly how we wanted,” expresses drummer Dave Astor. “The drums are explosive, the guitars are thick and very tight, and the vocals are brutally crushing.” The album cover displays a zombie theme, which was designed by Par Olofsson (Winds of Plague, Annotations Of An Autopsy, Immortal). The artwork can be viewed here. “The cover shows a doctor injecting people with a virus that is turning them into zombies,” states Astor. “It is a metaphor for the government control over our people."

"Hi, guys! We didn't write any news about us lately. So let's make a brief review of things that happened to us lately. The year 2010 began really optimistic and the story about Inmate is getting more and more interesting. We had some really awesome gigs but let us point out two of them. Check out the video (song Strength and Honour) from a concert at Kompleks (SI) where we were chosen for the best band of the concert below.
"Our preparations on pre-production songs finished about 2 weeks ago. Yes, here we are! Jure entered the studio on Monday, 26th of April. It took years to reach that special moment for us, but here we are now... We already established a great team to work with and really looking forward to the final result. We will post another blog about our studio work in the near future. But for now, we only reveal to you that we will record our drums only with midi drums. Something new even for our producer, but we are quite enthusiastic about it."

Satyrnine has issued the following announcement about parting ways with their vocalist:
"As was probably already noticed by some of you, it has been lately, unfortunately, a little quiet around Satyrnine. Our final episode of the studio diary from our record has been extremely delayed. Well, this thing has the following reasons: for personal and professional reasons, our previous front man Kevin, unfortunately, decided to get out of Satyrnine. The situation is, of course, inconvenient, since the record to the vocals actually complete in the box, and we would love to start right away. Shit happens! You can not do anything.
"Long story - short: We are looking with immediate urgency, preferably yesterday, for a suitable front man or woman, who knows how to combine deep growls and screams. If interested please send an email to 'firstname.lastname@example.org.' We will get back to you!"

"To all of Bret's friends and fans,
"We thank you all for your continued support and outpouring of well wishes for Bret.
"While additional studies are planned throughout the week to hopefully detect the exact cause of the rupture Bret will remain monitored closely by his medical team to make sure no further complications occur. He is responding well to tests and treatments. Even though yesterday was a minor setback Doctors remain hopeful for a full recovery and plan to release more specific information next Monday.
"While Bret is recovering we obviously have some shows that are being rescheduled. We are working to reschedule dates from now until May 21st. At this time we are planning to resume the tour May 26th in Ft. Smith Arkansas provided there are no further complications or setbacks. We will then continue with all scheduled dates throughout the summer and fall, including the June and July tour with Lynyrd Skynyrd. Look for additional information in the days and weeks to come. For those of you with tickets for shows that are being rescheduled, your tickets will be honored on the new dates. Tickets remain on sale for the shows which are being rescheduled although the new dates have yet to be announced."
UPDATE: this posting has since been removed from Bret's site. We're not going to publicly speculate on what that could mean and will leave that up to the reader, until the next update.

"Many people have been writing and asking about the European vinyl pressing of Trouble's 'Live in LA' album from High Roller Records. The album states that Mark Lira is playing drums on that album, but it is indeed myself performing entirely. In addition, the band photo was taken at the show, but not printed on the album (Lira's photos were posted instead). Yes, it is also my kit on the back cover of the album from my last show with Trouble at The End Club in Nashville (July 2008).
"High Roller Records has apologized to me for this error and has promised to make the corrections if more albums are pressed in the future (500 have already been pressed). I understand that this was only a mistake and there are no hard feelings about it at all. I hope this now clears it up."

Fuck The Facts has issued the following announcement about the release date of the "Disgorge Mexico" DVD:
"I’m happy to say that we will finally be releasing ‘Disgorge Mexico: The DVD’ on May 11th 2010, which comes in perfect timing with our upcoming May US tour. We decided to keep our mouths shut about this DVD until we were 100% sure that it would actually be seeing the light of day, since we ran into many delays and set backs along the way. As I type this I am surrounded by DVDs and DVD cases.
"Just like our ‘Unnamed’ 7" EP, this is a completely independent release. Limited to only 500 copies, the first 100 copies will include a bonus DVD with additional live footage, behind the scenes clips and more. Disgorge Mexico: The DVD, features 2 chapters: ‘Live Disgorge’ is our entire set from the ‘Disgorge Mexico’ CD release show on August 2nd 2008 in Hull, Quebec @ Le Petit Chicago. Not only is this the only time we ever played the entire album from start to finish, but the only time we played many of these songs live. The whole show was filmed with multiple cameras and then edited by Phil Pattison of Nictophobia Films.
"The second chapter is ‘Disgorge, Mexico: The Movie’. A film by David Hall of Hand Shake inc. (Today Is The Day, Jucifer, Sigh, Hail Of Bullets). Hall describes it as “a substance abuse art house riff on the destructive and volatile nature of love,” Disgorge, Mexico: The Movie is a violent, hallucinatory depiction of one woman’s strange journey, set to the soundtrack of Fuck The Facts’ Disgorge Mexico."
A teaser trailer for the DVD can also be viewed below. More...

Century Media Records to Celebrating their 20th Anniversary in North America, Century Media Records has signed a worldwide deal with one of the bands that propelled them to success - Iced Earth. This new worldwide deal sees the band rejoin the label that released the legendary albums The Dark Saga and Something Wicked This Way Comes as well as all of the early Iced Earth albums. In addition to Iced Earth, Century Media will also release Iced Earth brainchild, Jon Schaffer’s Sons of Liberty project.
Antje Lange, managing director of Century Media Records Europe, comments: “We are extremely happy and proud to welcome Jon Schaffer and his bands SONS OF LIBERTY and ICED EARTH back on the label. Schaffer is one of the most talented and charismatic musicians in metal and it is an honor for us as a label to work with him. Despite an already very successful past, we feel that an even bigger success is in the cards for the future.”
Schaffer further states: “I am excited about the opportunity to work on SONS OF LIBERTY and ICED EARTH with Century Media. This was the label where my career began and there are many memories, some of them great, some of them not. However, we all grew up and are able to see eye to eye on the mission ahead: making sure my creativity gets the best possible outlet. I am much looking forward to this team delivering the goods and releasing some killer music.”
Sons Of Liberty's "Brush-Fires of The Mind" is set for a July 13th release. Schaffer handles all vocals and instrumentation for Sons of Liberty, but the effort also features guest solos by legendary producer Jim Morris, ICED EARTH guitarist Troy Seele and world-class bassist, Ruben Drake. Born from Schaffer’s desire to stimulate curiosity about a pattern of global banking corruption that is undermining the independence of people and their countries, SONS OF LIBERTY aims to spearhead a multi-faceted and peaceful resistance of the tyranny being wrought every day on regular people. Schaffer, in turn, has reverently named his new project after a secret organization comprised of notable United States’ patriots that formed in 1765. These patriots worked fervently to expose and resist the tyranny that the colonists were subjected to, which ultimately led to the American Revolution. Swedish metal band Within Y has posted a new song, "The Storm," on their MySpace page.
The band comments on the new song, "Nothing has happened on our pages for a while. Think we all got a little tired of just writing, rehearsing, writing and so on. So we started to record a little of what we've come up with so far. And why not take the opportunity to let you guys know that we´re still alive. Anyways, we bring you 'The Storm,' a very early stage in our pre-recordings, of our yet untitled fourth album. Feel free to share your thoughts with us!"

Germany's Primal Fear has completed work on a brand new live DVD named “16.6- All Over The World,” recorded in various locations between September and November 2009, and on a live CD titled "Live in the USA." Frontiers Records will release the two products separately and in a limited edition combo version on June 2nd in Europe and June 22nd in the USA.
“The main part of the DVD was recorded in Switzerland at the Z7, but there is more footage from a headlining show held at the ProgPower festival in Atlanta, USA plus footage from Brazil/Sao Paulo, Tokyo & Osaka/Japan and more places” explains bassist and producer Mat Sinner. “That's why the DVD is named '16.6 - All Over The World,' while the Live CD is titled 'Live In The USA' because the Live CD was recorded in Atlanta, New York and Los Angeles during the last tour that the we did across the ocean."

Germany's Lifeless is set to release their album "Beyond the Threshold of Death" via Ibex Moon Records on June 8th, 2010. The band has now issued the following statement about the release:
"After months of strategy development, covert intelligence gathering, and nonstop live fire drills, Lifelss has readied its troops and will launch a worldwide invasion on June 8th with Beyond the Threshold of Death through Ibex Moon Records. Proudly flying the flag of traditional death metal, Lifeless has emptied its arsenal on an album that reminds of both the early Stockholm and Tampa death metal scenes.
"Though the song-first approach ensures an impacting listening experience, it is the riff firefights, guitar solo bombing runs, the crunching marches into battle, the speedy gallops across scorched earth, and the overwhelming force of this war machine that will leave one shell shocked and horrorstruck. War may be hell, but Lifeless is certain death. Put on a helmet and flak jacket, push play, and take the full force of the shrapnel blast that is Beyond the Threshold of Death."

British death/hard/metal 'core band Malefice has announced its new drummer - Chris Allan-Whyte, formerly of Shy of the Depth. Former drummer Craig Thomas left the band on amicable terms after the New England Metal And Hardcore Festival. Band frontman Dale Butler comments:
“Malefice and Craig have been growing apart musically for some time, and therefore we all decided it was a good time for everyone to move on. We all want to thank him for his years of dedication, we’ll never forget the good times we had and we wish him luck in his new chosen direction!”
“Chris had the job as soon as he started playing. He was our last audition and we could tell looking around the room at the smiles on each other’s faces, that the whole band was convinced we had found our man. He’s brought new venom to our sound, and we’re really enjoying playing our music with the fresh vigour and perspective that he brings! We all know Chris from his previous band Shy of the Depth, who we toured with a few years ago, so on a professional and a personal level, we’re ready to get out on the road from May, with the new line up and kick some fucking heads in! See you in the pit!”
Allan-Whyte will make his live debut with Malefice at Malefice's Dundee show on May 19. To catch Malefice, complete with their new kit-man, check the tour dates on their MySpace Page.
The fantastically named band Nashville Pussy likes to be on tour. So much so that they must have spent at least twice as many nights on the road as they have at home since they began playing their dirty, bluesy rock back in 1996. Out on their most recent tour, the “Parental Advisory Tour,” along with comedy rock/metal outfits Green Jello and Psychostick, Nashville Pussy is bringing their rolling party to a club near you! And if you like rock and booze, or if you like just one of those things, you want to see this show really bad. More...
