The band also showcased some of these songs two weeks ago for the very first time. Cellar Darling had this to say about the experience: "We’ve had the best time at our show in Lucerne earlier this month! For the first time, we got to play our brand new and freshly recorded songs live for you. We only wish that all of you who couldn’t make it, but who showed us such amazing support in the last year, could have been there with us. It was a magical and unique experience and we can’t wait for more." More...
UK-based experimental label Cold Spring Records presents the third full-length recorded excursion from Birmingham's death industrial/doom group Khost, titled "Governance" and coming June 16th. Cold Spring Records comments:
"The ten-track 'Governance' continues Khost's immersion in themes of detachment and dissonance, and ruminates upon the exertion of wills that are not your own, and upon the ways to detect and trace the outlines of the presence(s) that may exert these daily wills upon you, day by day.
"It was written over the course of the 2016/17 winter, during times of unease and sickness for the band, including one near-death experience. The resulting album is a hinterland of low resolution transmissions interspersed with broad concrete columns of distortion that loom suddenly from the dim landscape. Governance is like driving at night with your spirituality asleep at the wheel." More...
Fragile Branch Recordings is pleased to announce the release of "Desert" by black metal duo Wreche on May 26th, 2017. Check out the track listing and artwork below. The following press release was also issued about Wreche:
"The old piano wire creaks and whines as the hammer turns, wrenching the pin from the rotted maple. Steel clinks and piles upon the concrete while the wires twist and fall, knotting like weeds. As the spirit is pruned, it protests gently, plying the old songs—a final ghostly stride through the mind’s quiet gramophone.
"Wreche expands the palette and language of the piano to black metal. As the piano is physically 'pruned' in the first movement, so is its context. Large swaths of color collide through heavy handed massive chord stylings, marrying the drama of modern classical with the savage thrash of metal percussion and despondent screams of traditional black metal.
"Lyrical themes build upon this tension, contrasting darkness and light, intimacy and isolation, desert and city, all the while, musically, a war, storm, and stillness of shifting emotion rages. By transforming and revising the guitars of black metal, replacing them with shards of crystalline harshness and frenzied scherzos, Wreche invites space for new interpretations of genre, forging a path out of the proverbial forest—be it Norwegian, Olympian, or Appalachian—and into something more hopeless and sinister." My Kingdom Music is pleased to announce the signing of Bologna-based metal band Eva Can't. The group's 4th album, titled "Gravatum," will be released on July 14th, 2017.
Initially formed in 2009, Eva Can't (the name representing the real and innate limit of human nature with death), grew from the fertile underground scene of Bologna with members coming from bands such as In Tormentata Quiete, Malnatt, and Mors Tua.
Front man Simone commented on the signing: "We have worked a lot on this album, with passion and devotion and we are very excited to be working with My Kingdom Music on this as so many of the bands that have helped to shape our own artistic pathways have before us. It means a lot to us!!!"
My Kingdom Music's Francesco Palumbo added: "Eva Can't is something spectacular. They are creative, complex but so amazing that the first time I listened to their songs I was absolutely captured by the beauty of their compositions. Their mix of heavy gothic doom and folk metal is never monotonous, absolutely elegant in its form and with a lyrical approach that defining poetic is reductive. I am very honoured to be working hand-in-hand with the band, and look forward to My Kingdom Music playing a key role in exposing new fans to this incredible band." More...

Laser's Edge division Sensory Records announces the re-emergence of UK-based Prospekt, as the band completes the textured second album, "The Illuminated Sky." Closing a four-year void since the release of the lauded "The Colourless Sunrise" debut, the follow-up will see release this July.
Prospekt spent 2016 writing and recording "The Illuminated Sky," during which they acquired two iconic guest artists to take part in the album: Guitar virtuoso Greg Howe of Michael Jackson fame provides an eclectic solo on the powerful "Alien Makers Of Discord" and vocalist Marc Hudson of DragonForce provides a stellar contrast to Morris' voice on the epic "Where Masters Fall." Combine with that the excellent production, thanks to the mixing skills of Øyvind Larsen at Lionheart Studios, and the massive mastering job by mastermind Jens Bogren, and the result is album that has progressed upon the debut album and will no doubt open the floodgates to new fans.
From technical power metal, laden with soaring vocals and blistering guitar work, to epic orchestral driven prog, Prospekt has produced the best effort to date. "The Illuminated Sky" is an album that excites and takes the listener on a journey through the cosmos via the wonders of prog. More...

Back to the roots! A heartfelt return to snowcapped mountains, pure nature-inspired mysticism, and Nordic folklore! Sweden's Vintersong has returned with the new album "Till Fjälls Del II," which will be available on June 30th via Napalm Records (preorder here). As the first taste, the band released a lyric video for the song "Fjällets mäktiga mur."

Shunning repetition, vocalist and mastermind Andreas "Vintersorg" Hedlund did the unthinkable and composed a sequel to his groundbreaking 1998 album with "Till Fjälls del II"! This means no scientific lyrical concept, no progressive trickery, but a heartfelt return to snowcapped mountains, pure nature-inspired mysticism, Nordic folklore and black metal with a captivating epic streak. Vintersorg share a vision of equally harsh and melodic soundscapes that melt the raging extremes of the late 90s with the focus of 2016.

4. Fjällets mäktiga mur
5. Obygdens pionjär

After wrapping up an extensive North American tour with Swallow the Sun, Finland's Amorphis announced that bassist Niclas Etelävuori has decided to leave the band. Original bassist Olli-Pekka Laine has rejoined the band as his replacement.
In an announcement on Facebook, the band stated: "Dear all, We just arrived back home from almost an 8 week North American tour that was a great success in many ways. A humble thank you to all who came to the shows and meet & greets to tell us that we were truly missed last 8 years. Next tour will take place much sooner, that’s for sure.
"There are a lot of things happening right now in Amorphis camp but the saddest part is that our dear brother Niclas Etelävuori has decided to part ways with Amorphis. His decision has nothing to do with the band, no bad blood, no hard feelings between us so it is better that you read his statement and thoughts below. It’s really hard to describe the feelings everyone is going through right now, especially when we have worked as a family with him for so many years. People should understand that Amorphis has always been a democratic band and it’s pretty obvious that not all choices can please everyone. Some people don’t get along with each other, that’s life. The focus and all decisions have still aimed for the greater good and only what is best for AMORPHIS. We will continue with our current management as we feel that there is no distrust between us whatsoever.
"Even in these circumstances the show must go on, so we are happy to announce that our old friend and original Amorphis bass player Olli-Pekka (Oppu) Laine is going to play the forthcoming shows and festivals with us. It’s been a long time since we played together but it sure is going to be nostalgic and great fun. Rest of the year continues busy as we are now heading to Russia after couple of weeks and from there to Radio Rock (FIN) cruise before the festival season starts. Under The Red Cloud tour will end in September and after that we start to work on a new album. We’ll keep you informed about that later on.
"Most of all, we want to wish Niclas nothing but the best in the future and he will always remain as a close brother to us. Shine on!"
Niclas stated: More...
New Jersey death metal act Kalopsia has released a new song from forthcoming album "Angelplague." Stream "Destined to Return" in the player below!
"Angelplague" will be released on May 19th through Horror Pain Gore Death Productions. The album is now available for pre-order on CD and digital formats over here).
Weaving together the blasting intensity of American death metal, Scandinavian melodies and Jersey's homegrown breakdowns, "Angelplague" is Kalopsia's most ferociously heavy effort to date. The relentless opener "Destined to Return" is a high-velocity foreshadowing of things to come, while "Christened Upon the Slab" and "Not Peace But Pestilence" focus on knuckle-dragging, head nodding groove. "Scorched Earth and Blackened Skies," the longest and most dynamic track on the album showcases frenzied fretwork and brutal groove before unleashing a dual-guitar hook that gets stuck in the listener's head with all the subtlety of a pick axe.
"We wanted to come out swinging" says guitarist Matt Medeiros. "Our last album was focused on speed and dexterity. This time we wanted bigger hooks, and bigger breakdowns."
"Angelplague" continues Kalopsia's horrific mutation, blending blasting brutality, pit-inducing ignorance, melodic guitar interplay and an old-school vibe to create a pestilential soundtrack to scorch the earth and blacken the skies. The album was produced by Bobby Torres at Frightbox Studios.

Plaintive yet stirring vocals influenced by King Diamond meet up with the outstanding, dark atmosphere of early Death SS classics, with a little touch of Black Metal. Doom melodies and dark organ sounds give a decent obscure charm to the album.
