Sunday Old School: White Lion

It may be a stretch to call an eighties hair band that sold millions of records underrated, but look closely: White Lion fits the profile. Despite going all-in with a glam look and cheese-filled videos, there was actual music being played. Listen to the guitars and drums, and for heaven’s sake, don’t look directly into their eyes! Hypocrisy To Sit Out North American Tour

Hypocrisy has been forced to sit out the upcoming North American tour this May due to reasons beyond the band's control. Hypocrisy comments:

"The band members had received their visa approvals and everything was going as scheduled, until the embassy let them know that the earliest they could pick up their visas, get them stamped and so on, wasn't until late June at the earliest. A regular procedure that would normally take just a few days to sort, takes much longer at the moment due to that current workload Homeland Security is experiencing."

“As we were getting ready to go get our visas stamped and ready for the tour we were informed that the earliest we could go initially was sometime in July,” explains guitarist/vocalist Peter Tägtgren. “We then immediately continued to call them, got the label to help with some letters, and put our lawyer to work etc. The best that got us was an appointment in late June. This is a HUGE blow to us, to our fans and everyone who has supported Hypocrisy in North America. Sometimes there are battles you can’t win, and this is one of them. We will be back, I can promise that!”

The trek was also initially set to feature Brazilian brothers in death Krisiun, Belgian gore-grinders Aborted, and technical-melodic-death-masters Arsis, as well as Autumn's End and Starkill on select shows. The tour will continue as previously scheduled at this time minus Hypocrisy and Aborted. More...

Blotted Science Albums To See Vinyl Release

Antithetic Records has announced a May 21st street date for the first ever vinyl release of "The Machinations of Dementia" and "The Animation of Entomology," the two albums by insane instrumental metallers Blotted Science. The band features guitarist/mastermind Ron Jarzombek (Watchtower, Spastic Ink), bassist Alex Webster (Cannibal Corpse), and drummer Hannes Grossmann (Obscura).

"The Machinations of Dementia" will be issued as a limited edition gatefold double LP, with 100 copies on clear with yellow & green splatter vinyl, 150 copies on bone & blood swirl vinyl, and the remaining 250 copies in black.

"The Animation of Entomology" will come as a single LP, including a full color two-sided insert, with 100 copies on blood red vinyl, 150 copies on yellow with black splatter vinyl, and 250 copies in black. Exclusive pre-orders for both titles can now be placed via the Antithetic Records website right here.

Blotted Science was conceived in 2005 when Ron Jarzombek teamed up with Alex Webster and original drummer Chris Adler, who later had to bow out due to time constraints and was replaced by Charlie Zeleny on the band's 2007 debut release, "The Machinations of Dementia."

Zeleny's seat was taken over by Hannes Grossmann on the 2011 mini-album follow-up, "The Animation of Entomology," a 25-minute metal soundtrack scored to creepy crawly excerpts of the movies "Slither," "Creepshow," "Swarmed", and Peter Jackson's "King Kong." More...
