Affector's Collin Leijenaar commented on the release of the new song: "As we move closer to the release of 'Harmagedon', I'm excited to be able to stream a full song on our Facebook page. We chose 'New Jerusalem' in the radio-edit version. This song is a bit more straight-forward than some of our other songs, but still contains the 'Affector-sound'. I'm curious if this will ever hit a radio station, but we thought it would be fun to at least have the option :)" More...

The Melvins are the longest running band of their kind, which is probably because they are the only band of their kind. Since the early 1980s, Melvins has been influencing metalheads with their heavy riffs and intriguing the avant-garde with jazzier sections and not one, but two very talented drummers. It's difficult to put them in any one genre, and their collective sense of humor likes it that way. I was able to talk to vocalist King Buzzo, his friend and artist Brian Wallsby, and drummer Dale Crover about their albums, the Melvins Lite, and other strange stuff. You can watch the interview below. More...
Debemur Morti Productions has issued the following announcement about inking a deal with Behexen:

Lehto from Crimson Wine. CD and vinyl layouts will be completed by Babalon Graphics. If all goes according to plan, the album will be out at the end of September."
Behexen also previously commented:
"Behexen have closed themselves in the studio, and are recording their 4th album!!! The yet unnamed album will be mixed in June 2012, after which the record will be released as soon as possible.
"Hereby we can reveal that we have been signed to french label Debemur Morti, which will release the forthcoming full-length album worldwide.
"We want to raise a bloodfilled skullchalice for the new era of Behexen. May it be darker than ever and may it spread the word of our dark Gods wider. Hail Satan! Hail Lilith!"

Dave Chandler has had thirty years to jump on band wagons to keep Saint Vitus relevant in the eyes of the ever-changing metal consumer. Being trendy and selling out was never part of the plan, though. He hates it when a band puts out a reunion disc that doesn’t live up to its namesake. “Lillie: F-65,” their first full-length in seventeen years, shows the band’s guitarist and mastermind still being guided by Black Sabbath’s hand of doom.
Not only has Chandler returned to the apocalyptic tri-chords and noisy guitar effects that characterize his cerebral style, he has rekindled a working relationship with vocalist Scott “Wino” Weinrich. Wino last played on the group’s 1990 effort “V,” and has since become one of the most prolific and traveled vocalists and guitarists in stoner rock and doom metal, playing with groups such as Shrinebuilder, The Hidden Hand, Place of Skulls, Spirit Caravan, Premonition 13, Probot and many others.
At the time of the interview, Wino was in Amsterdam at the Roadburn Festival preparing for a special show with “The Church Within” lineup of The Obsessed. Roadburn was to hold a special CD listening party for “Lillie: F-65.” Said album may prove to be the best seller of the band's career. As seen by many other groups, the absence of Saint Vitus has led to greater interest. Doom metal also seems a hot commodity these days. It is the perfect time for a band like Saint Vitus to reform. Following an official signing with Southern Lord, Ontario's Burning Love has now revealed details on an upcoming release. The band’s second LP, "Rotten Thing To Say" was recorded by Converge guitarist Kurt Ballou at Godcity Studio and mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side. "Rotten Thing To Say" has been confirmed for an official North American street date of June 19th via CD, LP and digital download.
Today Alternative Press Magazine is hosting the world’s virgin listen to "Rotten Thing To Say" by streaming the album’s seventh track, “Hateful Comforts.” Click here to check out the track. The following press release was also issued:
"Formed by several members of previous act Our Father and vocalist Chris Colohan (Cursed, Left For Dead, the Swarm), Burning Love’s output is detached from comparisons to the members’ previous acts. A filthy rock ‘n roll-fed concoction of deafening punk/hardcore propelled by beastly riffs and Colohan’s raging, caustic vocals, counterbalanced by occasional melodious grooves run the show here.
"Burning Love is on the road now, headlining multiple dates throughout the Northeast, and continue to book more dates as the album draws near. Following another slew of headlining dates in early June, the band have been confirmed as one of the four main acts for this Summer’s massive Southern Lord package tour, where Burning Love will tackle the US for three weeks alongside labelmates Martyrdod, Enabler and tour headliners Black Breath, with special guests Poison Idea, Noothrush, Pelican, Power Trip, Wild//Tribe, Dead in the Dirt, The Secret and more joining the mayhem on select dates." After the 2011 re-issue through Xtreem Music of 1992 debut album "Member of Immortal Damnation," Finnish death metallers Purtenance decided to reform. The band is more motivated than ever and has already inked a deal with Xtreem Music for the release of a new mini CD as well as upcoming albums, the first of which is expected for 2013.
The new mini CD is already recorded and entitled "Sacrifice the King," featuring 6 songs in the style Purtenance is well known for. The current line-up consists of original members Juha Ranniko (guitars) and Harri Salo (drums) plus new member Ville (bass/vox).
"Sacrifice the King" is expected for release this coming June with a vinyl version coming later, and the band is already working on 12 new songs for a sophomore album. Check out the new song "Demon Gods" in the player below. More...
Philadelphia, PA’s A Life Once Lost has issued a new update from Planet Red in Richmond, VA on the recording of the band's upcoming full-length release with Season of Mist. Planet Red is owned and operated by producer Andreas Magnusson (The Black Dahlia Murder, Impending Doom).
“We are hustling along here with this album,” states vocalist Bob Meadows. “It’s going to be a beast of a record and fans can expect a little more honesty both musically and lyrically with an amalgamation of the ALOL signature style and some other surprises that have yet to be over played within the metal community. We are making this record because we enjoy the art of making music, not because we have to make a new record. As long as we are happy playing in ALOL, we will continue to grow and take our sound further.”
After only several days in the studio, the band is making quick progress without sacrificing important details. Meadows adds, “Right now we’re halfway done with guitars and bass. I’ve finished vocals for several tracks and we’re looking to finish basic recording and then fine-tune everything for the next few weeks. We’re going to be posting some video updates in the coming weeks so keep an eye out for those.” More...
Century Media Records has renewed a record deal for the 3rd time with Swedish melodic death metal legends, Dark Tranquillity. This influential band from Gothenburg released a first album on Century Media Records in 1999, and since then has released 6 albums, plus 2 DVDs and a handful of special releases.
Jens Prueter, Head Of A&R at Century Media Europe comments: "I start to believe in Numerology. 13 years ago, Dark Tranquillitysigned their first contract with Century Media Records. Friday the 13th of April, I met Mikael Stanne and Niklas Sundin for the Roadburn festival at the lovely 013 venue in Tilburg to receive the signed copies of their 3rd Century Media contract for 3 more albums. The 3 of us had about 13 beers to celebrate it. It's amazing how Dark Tranquillity are able to express their legacy as one of the original godfathers of the melodic death metal/Gothenburg sound without sounding outdated today. They always managed to stick to their roots and develop to new heights at the same time. Looking forward to the next album in 2013. Cheers!"
The band comments: "After such a long history together, we're more confident than ever that Century media is the perfect working partner for Dark Tranquillity. In a climate where a lot of record labels are weighed down by cynicism or have just plain given up in the face of the rapidly changing industry climate, Century media are still enthusiastic and forward thinking and take huge pride in releasing great music that matters. Here's to another 13 years!" More...

Anathema is currently on the road supporting the band's new album "Weather Systems" (reviewed here). Anathema's Dan Cavanagh has now checked in with the following road report from Belgium:
"WEATHER REPORT - ANTWERP
"Spring under a cherry blossom tree in Belgium.. and though the sun be hidden behind light cloud above, it fails not to inspire hope of a better day ahead.
"Welcome to the weather report from the most peaceful spot I've found so far on tour, underneath this cherry blossom tree @Trix, Antwerp. The drifting of cherry blossom leaves upon an April breeze is one of my favourite and most captivating moments in nature. A blessing indeed and an ideal place to have a little picnic and write a report for you good folk.
"Behind the excellent Trix venue lies a peaceful garden, complete with said cherry blossom and what I think are two weeping willows. Regardless of the names of these trees, it's a solace indeed to be here with coffee, fruits and a little bit of spring in the heart. Quieter moments such as these are a tonic from the intensity of some of the live performances, I suppose thanks to one thing, one can appreciate the other.
"The tour is going splendidly well and the album is being received equally well too, thanks to all you good people. We are also very happy with the atmosphere between band and crew and the good work that's being done to make all this happen. More...
