Roxx Records in conjunction with Divine Metal Distro are ready to unleash their latest offering of pure metal from one of New Mexico’s thrash metal band The Moshketeers.
Originally formed in the mid 80’s as a straight ahead heavy metal band and going by the name Rapture, the band released several demos, including "Vacation from Hell" and "Die by the Sword." The band toured with Barren Cross and shared the stage with many bands including Deliverance and Sacred Warrior. The band would eventually change their name in 1989 to The Moshketeers which would coincide with the bands full transition in to the growing thrash metal scene.
The Moshketeers independently released two cassette tapes including a four-song demo and a full length release entitled "The Downward Spiral." The band would begin touring and performing shows with many of metal’s finest bands including Testament, Deliverance, The Crucified and Vengeance Rising. The band continued off and on into the 1990s, releasing another cassette demo in 1997 with four new songs that were suppose to be from an upcoming full length album, that was never finished. The band continued to be open shows for many popular bands including P.O.D. and Ultimatum.
Rumors began flying in 1990 that The Moshketeers were signing with a major label but it never happened and the tapes would never see the light of day and the masters would be locked away for many, many years…until now.
The Moshketeers "The Downward Spiral" will now see a full CD release, for the first time ever. Set to be completely restored and remastered and include several previously unreleased bonus tracks, including the rare 1997 demo.
Here's the tracklisting for The Moshketeers' "The Downward Spiral" (Remastered and Expanded): More...
Philadelphia metal band Single Bullet Theory has posted the following video update from the studio:
Dutch female fronted metal band, Morning, has announced that they have decided to call it quits.
The band comments, "2010 brought and will bring us very divergent feelings. We performed at some big sold out shows, shared the stage with Stream of Passion, Trail of Tears, Epica and Lacuna Coil, toured Albania and some very cool shows with ReVamp and Autumn are coming up. Next to that we are celebrating 10 years of having our band and passion Morning. On the other hand, after these 10 years we started thinking and talking about future plans and new challenges.
With heavy hearts, we have to tell you that we decided to quit. This has not been an easy decision to make and we have thought about this for quite some time. We concluded that we have reached the point where we should take new roads, but unfortunately also part our ways... As band members and even more as close friends, the last 10 years have been a blast, and we are very proud to have been part of this great experience called Morning."
"Since we want to give everyone the chance of saying goodbye, we will still play the confirmed shows and even add a final goodbye show, to celebrate 10 years of Morning and to end with a bang!"
Swedish metal band Evocation has issued the following studio update:
"Hi there everyone, thought I would give you a short update on the situation in the studio. Everything is progressing just as we planned, yesterday we finished laying down all guitars except for solos which we are planning to do almost last. So far we have done drums, guitars and bass. By the way, for the drums we had some amazing help this time – Roberto Laghi (Producer for In Flames etc.). And the result - well to be honest I haven’t ever heard such an amazing drum sound… Prepare to be blown away… Same goes for the guitars and the bass as well – the sound has progressed and is more evil than ever! Next up to get to work is Thomas (vocals). After having heard his ideas for the vocal patterns together with the songs we all feel very confident that this album will become by far our strongest achievement up to date. It might sound like a cliché but trust me and wait until the album is released… Also we can now finally reveal that the new album title is – Apocalyptic. Release date will probably be sometime in October."

Abigail Williams has completed recording of individual performances for their still untitled second full-length album. Captured at Conquistador Studios in Cleveland, Ohio, eight new songs were laid down with vocalist/guitarist Ken Sorceron and engineer Cole Martinez controlling the audio takes. The songs are currently being mixed by Peter Tagtgren (Dimmu Borgir, Immortal, Celtic Frost) and are expected to be completed later this month.
Commenting briefly on the new material, Sorceron notes, "There are a lot less keyboards on the new songs. They are far more guitar-driven and have a bit more of a traditional sound in some ways but still very Abigail Williams sounding. We let ourselves have much more room with writing this album; kind of a more open, free environment than any we have employed before. The studio experience this time round was very natural to us. We recorded everything with much more ease and I think it has helped in capturing a very honest vibe." More...

Each week in "Unearthing the Metal Underground," we'll be putting a few quality underground bands in the spotlight in an attempt to get the word out about them. This week I am exhuming the Perth death metal scene.
Being isolated from the rest of the country and indeed the world, Perth has long had to make its own entertainment – leading to a rich local music scene. There are good bands active in the city right now playing almost every kind of metal, from folk to black to groove to grindcore. But I’m of the opinion that it’s Perth’s death metal bands that really shine. More...

Jonny Santos (vocals, guitars) comments: “I am very excited to be a part of this tour. Not only has FF been one of my all-time favorite bands, but they have been like family to me over the years, especially Dino. He is like my metal Dad, and had a lot to do with the start of my career back in the early SS days. He gave me my first U.S. and European tours and basically taught me how to survive on the road, as well as proper tour etiquette. This tour couldn’t have come to us at a better time, since our record comes out 5/18 and the tour starts two days before that. It will allow us to sell the record at our merch booth and give the fans an opportunity to meet the band and get a CD signed.
“We have always been a band that tries to stay close to our fans and interact with them as much as possible. I also feel that this tour will open us up to a lot of fans who have never heard of us and push the SC name out there a little more. I have to say I’m just as excited to tour with Prong. I was a huge fan of them as well when I was a kid. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone in Thy Will Be Done and predicting this tour to be an all around success! We are going to play a lot of new material live, and plan on crushing the fans every night. This is gonna be one brutal fucking tour, and I am very honored to be a part of the ‘Fear Campaign.’ I will see all you guys out there on the road.”

As most of you who have seen us live will know, he was a great frontman, and his vocals and thought provoking lyrics were second to none. Italy's Exilia are set to release a new album titled "Naked" on May 21st, 2010, which will feature several unplugged tracks. Exilia vocalist Masha issued the following statement about the album:
"’Naked’ comes together with an impressive cover that let us understand right away the feeling of this new work. I decided to call this CD ‘Naked’ because this time our fans will listen to something that will bring them to the real essence of my voice and our music and I want to show that I’m free from any prejudice or cliche. I do what I like to do no matter what, but I was happily surprised to discover that I could be even more aggressive with my voice when I sing with an acoustic guitar. I just wanna let my people feel my passion for what I do, that’s all. I decided to get musically Naked, that means still with my clothes on but no special effects, no lies, just fire and passion straight in your face!
"Many of our fans were asking to get recordings of our unplugged shows and we liked the idea to prepare a special gift for all of them that supported us along the way, reinventing the concept of unplugged and making this absolutely aggressive, heavy and full of energy, otherwise I wouldn’t have done it!"
Project Zooom has posted a new song online titled "Loaded." The new track, in addition to the previously uploaded "Inflicted" and "Head Rush," can be heard via the band's MySpace page. Project Zooom also commented on the track:
"'Loaded' is my newest addition here. I have had requests as well as input from friends and fans to create a tune that was more atmospheric, yet have an emotional element to it. I usually record the basic tracks and then finish with the lead. In this case, I did it in reverse to see how I can mold a song around the lead. The tune is a bit slower and less dynamic to show another side of me. Drop me a line and tell me what you think."

Steve Smyth, guitarist with Bay Area thrash metal veterans Forbidden, has posted a new blog online with more information about the recording of the bands new studio album. It reads as follows:
"Day Two: We wrapped up my double [track] on ‘Overthrow’ within a few hours, and soon it was time for me to pick the next song to track. I had the next one in mind already... for a few reasons. As some of you may know already, ‘Adapt Or Die’ is one of two songs we demoed last year and released for everyone to hear while we were shopping for a new deal for the band. This was also the song we chose to debut live in August 2009 in a short string of concerts through the Pacific Northwest, from San Francisco to Vancouver BC. Those lucky fans got to hear where we were taking the song in a live format vs. the song demo. I really feel that as a result of getting out and playing this song live, the album version is strong as all hell, has grown a lot more, has a lot of power to it, and is absolutely unrelenting!
