Before the Swedish metal powerhouse went to Asia and Australia to present the latest album ”Khaos Legions” (reviewed here) for an ongoing world tour, Arch Enemy found time to finish the 3rd video for ”Under Black Flags We March.” The video was once again produced by the Swedish director Patric Ullaeus (In Flames, Dimmu Borgir, etc.) and is the first video to feature the new guitarist Nick Cordle (from the US band Arsis) who replaced Chris Amott earlier this year.
The video is being premiered worldwide through the website of Metal Hammer Germany. Watch the video at this location or in the player below.
Michael Amott (guitar) comments on the video: ”It was a pleasure as always to work with our friend Patric Ullaeus on this video, which will be the fourth clip he's made for us and he really is a consummate professional – truly excellent stuff! He's captured a very suitable and cool vibe on this one too. The track itself, ’Under Black Flags We March’, is a song that we've played at every Arch Enemy show since we released the 'Khaos Legions' album last year, we love playing it as it's a change of pace in our frantic live set and it's going down really well with audiences worldwide too.
"We felt this pounding metal anthem deserved a visual companion, so here it is! A couple of things to listen out for: we had a our new guitarist Nick Cordle throw down a little lick on the song and had audio master Andy Sneap remix the song a little… So, a few minor tweaks here and there to make it something special for this visual/sonic assault! Under Black Flags We March!” More...

Sweden’s eclectic metal troupe Diablo Swing Orchestra will release a third full-length in North America, "Pandora’s Piñata," on May 22nd via Sensory Records, with Candlelight Records handling the album in Europe. The band recently posted a new single online titled "Vodoo Mon Amour," and the following press release was also issued about the album:
"An eclectic mash up of metal, opera, swing jazz, tango, and spaghetti western soundtrack, the music Diablo Swing Orchestra creates is unlike that of any other group on the planet. The message of DSO has expanded its way through an incredibly devout fanbase developed over years of infiltrating viral markets dominated by open-minded musical thrill seekers, in addition to prominent live gigs on several continents over recent years, and fans of their incredibly unique, technical, ambidextrous groove are eagerly awaiting the arrival of Pandora’s Piñata.
"The follow-up album to their acclaimed 2009-released Sing Along Songs For The Damned And Delirious, also released via Sensory, Pandora’s Piñata finds Diablo Swing Orchestra expanded into a massive eight-piece lineup, with the permanent addition of two horn players. The new album is a smörgåsbord of different levels of musical insanity building on the foundation laid down on their previous album. And as always the musical mayhem is fronted by the glass shattering voice of Annlouice Loegdlund, a metal queen at night but a trained opera singer by day, her incredibly infectious and professional range setting the rest of the incredibly layered tunes alive with vibrant flames of originality. Anger As Art recently completed the mixing process for the band's upcoming fourth album "Hubris, Inc." Anger As Art's Steve Gaines and Rob Alaniz have now checked in with the following track-by-track commentary of the album:
Hubris Inc. (Gaines, Alaniz): This was once the intro to the song ’They All Fall Down’ (from Disfigure, 2009). *However, a great decision to leave it off, for 2 reasons. 1.) One day I was griping about the place I work at… and blurted out “I work at Hubris, Incorporated.” Rob Alaniz answered back immediately “That’s the album title.” And, how appropriate that he found that spoken word piece to go with it. 2.) By waiting to release this, I had greater inspiration for the guitar solos. If we had released it 3 years earlier, it would not have had the same impact.More...
Dutch act Alerion has issued the following announcement about the band's upcoming first live shows with a new vocalist:
"On April 27th and 28th, you will have your first chance to see us play live with Laura on vocals. To add to the flavour of these shows, we will also debut a new song. The new song 'Entrapment' clocks in at nearly 12 minutes and consists of two parts which are both musically and lyrically probably best described as a small story.
"'Entrapment - I - Caged', is a short, mellow and piano dominated song. It envisions a young girl kept in a golden cage, who dreams of breaking free, and sets the scene for part two.
"'Entrapment - II - Escape', launches the story into a 10+ minutes long progressive metal song, with all kinds of guitars, keys, melodies, solo's, interludes and riffing, topped off with vocals by Laura. The story tells of how the girl became entrapped and is now breaking free of the visible ánd invisible bonds of her captor.
"Come to see us on April 27th or 28th to check it out for yourselves. ;) See our gigs section on our website for details."

Yesterday saw the release of "Anhedonia" from Australian act Teramaze, and Pure Grain Audio is now hosting an exclusive full album stream here. The following press release was issued about the band:
"Whilst loosely befitting the genre of thrash metal, the music of Teramaze conjures such adjectives as, 'innovative,' 'progressive,' and 'groove-laden,' but most notably, 'engaging.' Keeping the fundamental elements of metal alive in their music, Teramaze pushes metal into unchartered waters with guitar work that is incendiary and powerfully aggressive vocals that drive the song.
"The album Anhedonia was produced and mixed by Dean Wells and mastered by Lasse Lammert (Alestorm, Stuck Mojo Halcyon Way) Anhedonia is a critique of modern man's diminishing ability to experience life's simple pleasures. Teramaze has been creating tidal waves on its native shores of Australia with its explosive live performances and is ready to bring its music to the masses on the world stage." More...

Finnish band Lordi announced that they have found a new drummer following the tragic loss of Otus a/k/a Tonmi Lillman in February. The new member's real and fictional identity have not yet been revealed. The following announcement was posted on the band's official website:
Lordi has got a new drummer. His character’s name will not be revealed yet and he will be simply called ”the drummer” for now. The mask and the costume are kept to the minimum, but enough to fit him visually in to the band for the upcoming shows.
'We don´t want to introduce a new character yet, because we feel it is still way too close to the time when our drummer Otus passed away. Making any kind of fuss about a new member would simply be too disrespectful. However, we need a drummer in order to play. And since we are Lordi, no-one will ever perform in the band as himself, without a character,' Mr. Lordi states.
'So, the new drummer does have a mask and his costume is more than a t-shirt and jeans, but this is not the outfit of the actual character yet. We could say he is in disguise. The name and the look of the character will be revealed at the same time when the whole band comes out with new costumes and masks. This happens traditionally before a new album comes out,' Mr. Lordi continues.
There are no official photos of the new drummer yet and it also looks like there will not be any before the character will be officially introduced. The new drummer can be seen for the first time in Italy, at Metalitalia.com festival on May 5th, 2012.
