WAYLANDER's upcoming third album, entitled "Honour Amongst Chaos", is "more powerful and beautiful than ever, using a vast array of Irish folk instruments and armed with their passion for metal in its truest form," according to a press release. Lexington Park, Maryland-based progressive rock/metal band ODIN'S COURT has inked a deal with ProgRock Records. The group's new CD, entitled "Deathanity", is available for immediate order and will ship in mid-May 2008 and be available at your favorite brick and mortar retailer on July 15, 2008. Pre-sales are discounted $2 on the ProgRock Records site until the album starts shipping.
"Deathanity" displays why ODIN'S COURT is difficult to fit into a genre; ambience, dynamics, and soul are combined with complexity, groove, and energy in a song oriented structure, to create a unique, surreal landscape. Including a configuration similar to that of the classic PINK FLOYD album "Dark Side of the Moon", "Deathanity" utilizes saxophone and backing female vocalists, and includes a palate scattered with spoken vocal clips and vast ranging sound effects. Special guest vocalists include Tom Englund (EVERGREY) and Tony Kakko (SONATA ARCTICA). More...
New Jersey metallers ATTACKER have announced the addition of Walter Figueroa to the group's ranks. Figueroa is the former lead singer of SEVERED HAND (a band that features Sebastian Bach's son on drums) and he recently did a stint as vocalist for 1980s metal cover band SMELL THE GLOVE (which features SEVEN WITCHES and current JOEY BELLADONNA guitarist Jack Frost). Walter Figueroa has also been involved with hard rock band IMPRECARI and progressive rock/metal band PARADOX (New Jersey).
Walter Figueroa's influences include Geoff Tate, Rob Halford, Bruce Dickinson, and Tony Harnell. These influences can clearly be heard in Figueroa's soaring, powerful voice.
ATTACKER states: "Walter came down and did a fantastic job on the material, so we knew we had to look no further. We had several people recommend Walter to us and they were right on the money. We are all looking forward to working on our new album and hitting the stage as soon as possible."
Aussie metal giants Dreadnaught would like to announce that Matt Racovalis (Alarum, The Berzerker) will be joining the current line-up on drums. Matt has been a mainstay of the Australian metal scene for many years now, touring and recording with Alarum from 1992 to 2006 and brief stints with The Berzerker.
The band is booked to enter the studio on May 31, with producer Reggie Bowman to begin work on LP number 4. The as yet untitled record consists of the following tracks (in no particular order). Twist the Knife, The Push, Agony-Ecstasy, Save Your Life, Tattooed Tears, Ten X The Pain, Buried, (Instra)Mental, More Than One Way, and Collapse.
Following completion of the new record the band will be setting their sites on Europe, making the jaunt later in the year to commence talks with interested labels and promoters so the band can finally begin their long overdue assault on the Northern hemisphere.
For more information check out their website.
The track comes off the band's debut album, entitled "Calling The Earth To Witness", which was issued in Sweden on May 2007 via Ulterium Records. The album was mixed by Pelle Saether (Act, Skyfire) at Studio Underground and was mastered by Göran Finnberg (In Flames, The Haunted, Dark Tranquillity) at the Mastering Room. More...

Gigwise reports the following:
Metallica are considering whether to follow in the footsteps of Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails by self releasing material once their record contract expires.
The rock titans’ drummer Lars Ulrich told Rolling Stone that he would hate to go the way of Madonna and U2 by signing lucrative contracts with Live Nation. Instead, he said the band would like to keep things in their own hands.
Asked about signing a ‘360 deal’ like Madonna, Ulrich said: "We've never sold ourselves that way. No disrespect. We want to be as free a player as possible. We've been observing Radiohead and Trent Reznor and in 27 years or however long it takes for the next record, we'll be looking forward to everything in terms of possibilities with the Internet." Relapse Records has announced the signing of Los Angeles, CA‘s 16. 16, returning with their original line-up of Cris Jerue – vocals, Tony Baumeister– bass, Bobby Ferry – guitar, and Jason Corley– drums, are currently working their Relapse debut and follow-up album to 2003’s Zoloft Smile.
16 commented on the signing: “We are more than excited about working with Relapse. Call it ecstatic if you will. Collectively we have been fans of the label since the inception of 16, and in fact, it's one of the only constants that exist between us in that we are always fans of something the label is releasing. Signing to Relapse is a dream come true for the band as a whole. Currently we are halfway through recording our Relapse debut and so far it is shaping up to be the definitive 16 album. We are channeling every ounce of our anger, anti-social conditioning, and songwriting skills we have developed over the years into this album. Upon its completion we will be touring the US and abroad extensively in support of it.”
Finland's Imperiumi.net reports:
"Highly acclaimed as true originators of the international underground extreme metal scene, PENTAGRAM from Chile produced two legendary demo tapes in the late 80's which functioned as the source of inspiration for many black/death metal cult acts to follow.
Germany's Cyclone Empire will finally release Under The Spell Of The Pentagram, a CD+DVD set featuring all known recordings on CD along with some infamous cool live-performances on DVD, in the middle of May."

WARRANT's Webmaster Noel has issued the following message:
"Hey Warrant fans!
This is Noel the web guy. In hopes to make things easier on everyone, I wanted to give you an update for all the questions you've been submitting.
I talked to Jerry (Dixon) the other day and the booking agent has been sending him completely new sets of summer tour dates every week, yet they are not finalized. They don't want to release the dates until they are 100% final so as not to confuse fans in cities that get bumped. So, I'm sorry to say but as of right now, I have NO tour news for you. Jerry and Erik (Turner) will send them to me the moment they get them and I will in turn update this page. Please continue to check back and understand that we're just as anxious as you are.
Several bands have been writing in asking about getting an opening slot. Please contact the booking agents or venues for that info.
I will be at Rocklahoma taking fan photos and video clips for the MySpace page. I'm also working on getting a hand full of things to give away. If you plan to go, and want to know what I look like so you can find me, hit me up on my page.
Reunited Swedish thrashers GUILLOTINE, featuring Nils Eriksson (bass) and Fredrik Mannberg (rhythm guitar) of NOCTURNAL RITES, check in with the following recording update:

Good news is that we have finished the basics; drums, bass and rythm guitars, almost all vocals and have only some lead chops to handle before we can start mixing this baby!
We'll shortly be announcing album title, possible street date and whatever else info we might have!
Talk more soon!"

CULT OF LUNA founder and guitarist Johannes Persson gives fans a major treat as he gives them a taste of what is in store for them on the band's fifth full-length release, "Eternal Kingdom".
"The world of the 'Eternal Kingdom' is harsh and hostile and that was something we felt was needed to express through the music. The turn to a harder and heavier sound was also very welcomed on our side after two albums of exploring atmospheric and meditative music."
The recently released artwork of "Eternal Kingdom" also has a deep connection to the music contained within.
"The artwork is inspired by old woodcuts and it is definitely the right way of maintain and amplify the harshness of the 'Eternal Kingdom'. With the Man/Owl king in the middle, it is a perfect visual representation of how the album is going to sound."
Cult Of Luna's new album "Eternal Kingdon" will be release on June 16th in Europe and July 8th in North America.

British extremists BENEDICTION have posted this bulletin on their MySpace pahe:
"Well, that's it. We've recorded everything and now we have to let go of it. It is in the more than capable hands of the producer, Mick 'ginger c**t' Kenney of ANAAL NATHRAKH infamy. If you can imagine the crispness of the grind bastard album with the ferocity of ANAAL NATHRAKH on a disc then you will get the idea of what is to come. A lot of beer, football, hospitals, pubs, curries, kebabs, kitkats and crisps went into the making of 'Killing Music'! Thanks to everyone who popped in on the recording sessions to give support and drink our free beer! We look forward to hearing the finished product once Mick has weaved his ginger magic on our baby." The following press release has been announced:
The 80’s and early 90’s metal scene was known for being overcrowded with thrash metal acts, one more repetitive than the other. But despite this generic flood, there were a few names back then that gave new meaning to the word “thrash”. One of them was the Louisiana-based EXHORDER, a band who had a massive impact on all of future thrash metal. The group released two classic albums – Slaughter In The Vatican and The Law, which to this day stand as the embodiment of sheer thrash power and aggression. While during their career they were rather overlooked, Exhorder resurfaced years later as a thrash metal legend, highly praised by heavy music enthusiasts for their two amazing albums. Rumors of a reunion still echo around the metal scene, but as always – nothing is certain.
Both Exhorder titles will be released by Metal Mind Productions on May 19th in Europe / July 8th in USA (via MVD). New digipak edition is limited to numerated 2000 copies. Digitally remastered using 24-Bit process on golden disc
Exhorder - Slaughter In The Vatican tracklist: 'Death In Vain', 'Homicide', 'Desecrator', 'Exhorder', 'The Tragic Period', 'Legions Of Death', 'Anal Lust', 'Slaughter In The Vatican'.
Exhorder - The Law tracklist: 'Soul Serch Me', 'Unforgiven', 'I Am The Cross', 'Un-Born Again', 'Into The Void', 'The Truth', 'The Law', 'Incontinence', '(Cadence Of) The Dirge'.
German thrashers ABANDONED have issued the following band news:
"Dear deaf people!
The Abandonettes have some good and bad news to deliver:
First the bad news: Konrad "Konny" Cartini, the original Abando-drummer, will lay down his drumsticks immediately due to sexual differences! Gone are the times of spontaneous stand-up comedy and delicate drumming that enriched each single live gig and our records... The reason for all this: Konny's gonna be a daddy for the second time! Seems like it's time for him to take care of his kids before they end up like him, haha! We'll miss you, brother!
But Abandoned wouldn't be Abandoned if we had no equivalent successor for the no longer vacant position (which indeed is the good news)!
We are proud to announce that Sven Vormann, drummer par excellence who played in DESTRUCTION and JESUS CHRYSLER SUPERSKUNK in the past, has just joined the Abandoned family!!!
Welcome aboard, brother!
We're looking forward to the first shows introducing the Abandoned Mk.II-Line Up on Headbanger's Open Air and many others to thrash your fuckin' socks off and to record our next album in true Abandoned fashion by the end of the year... yeah!
C ya in the pit!"

Artillery launched a veritable blitz, bombarding their fans with a skull-breaking selection of some of the best songs from their entire discography, including great thrash metal masterpieces like 'By Inheritence' and 'Khomaniac'."
There will also be a host of bonus material such as the video clips to "Allergic To Knwledge", "Missing Link" and "Terror Squad", interviews with band members Carsten Nielson and Morten Stutzer aswell as a seperate interview with Michael Stutzer and a bootleg video of the band performing "The Almighty."
