Nachtmystium Posts New Song Online

Chicago-area psychedelic black metal group NACHTMYSTIUM has posted a new song titled "Assassins" on its MySpace page. The track comes off the band's new full-length album, "Assassins: Black Meddle Part I", which will be released on June 10 via Century Media Records in North America and June 23 through Candlelight Records in Europe.

"Worldfall", the new mini-CD from NACHTMYSTIUM, will be released as a precursor to the band's upcoming full-length, and will only be available direct from Century Media as well as iTunes.

The "Worldfall" tracks were originally intended for a split with LEVIATHAN that has now been delayed due to legal issues with LEVIATHAN's record label. NACHTMYSTIUM will be recording new tracks later this year and releasing the split at a later date.

The "Assassins..." full-length was recorded in December at Sanford Parker's Volume Studios (RWAKE, MINSK, LAIR OF THE MINOTAUR, PELICAN) and showcases NACHTMYSTIUM's most prolific and expansive sounds to date. The record features Tony Laureano (ANGELCORPSE, NILE, DIMMU BORGIR) on drums, and spot appearances by members of PHARAOH and YAKUZA. More...

Nightwish Cancels Sayreville, NJ Show

Finnish/Swedish symphonic metallers NIGHTWISH have cancelled the first show (May 5 at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey) of their previously announced spring 2008 U.S. tour due to logistical reasons. According to a source familiar with the situation, NIGHTWISH's gear was to fly from Mexico City, where the band is performing on May 2 and May 3. This flight — the only one from Mexico to Newark — was cancelled by the airline and the group and its specific gear that is needed in order to produce the concert that fans pay to see was unable to arrive in New Jersey in time. Endless effort was made for this to be corrected and it was not a success.

Igor Cavalera Speaks On Sepultura And Reunion

Igor Cavalera was recently interviewed by Metal-Rules.com, in which he had this to say about his former band Sepultura:

Metal-Rules.com: Are you on good terms with your former bandmates in SEPULTURA?

Igor: Yeah, yeah it's fine. You know it's like, no drama, I just wanted to continue to do different stuff I wish them all the best.

Metal-Rules.com: So they have your blessing to continue to use the name SEPULTURA without you or Max?

Igor: Yeah, I mean, it's not my choice. I left SEPULTURA same way as Max. I don't think it's my choice to stop them from doing it. I think people have to decide whether they want to see SEPULTURA without me and Max. It's not up to us, really.

Metal-Rules.com: How would you feel about one day doing a full-on SEPULTURA reunion?

Igor: Not really, man. Max wanted to have that, especially for his kids, he wanted his kids to see a SEPULTURA gig once, with the original lineup, but…I don't know, I like doing CAVALERA better. It's new music, for me it's great, I don't have a problem with anything we've done in the past, I'm really proud, I just don't wanna live from the past. So the reunion I think for me, it would be kinda like going back and living off what we did before. CAVALERA, for me, is more exciting.

Metal-Rules.com: I read that in the early days of SEPULTURA, you specially handpainted a SEPULTURA t-shirt for Mille Petrozza from KREATOR, you've come a long way since then…

Igor: We handpainted some SEPULTURA shirts, we sent one to Mille, we sent one to Chuck [Schuldiner, late DEATH mainman] and we sent one to Trey from MORBID ANGEL… and we saw the three of them wearing it in different fanzines, and at the time me and Max were like, "OK. That's it….we don't need to do anything else. We made it." We have these people that we fucking idolize wearing our shirts, that's OK, we don't need anything else. I remember being so happy about it….having the response from Chuck, from all these people and I was like cool, it's like having somebody like Lemmy wearing your shirt.

Evile Issues Tour End Update

UK thrashers, Evile, issue the following end of tour update:

"Hey all, just thought I'd post an update on the Exodus tour, even though there's only one more show to go :("

"This is one awesome tour and we're having a great time. All of the Exodus guys are great. They and their crew treat us really well. The Crowds have all been very welcoming to us, and the responses we've been getting on this tour are overwhelming. I want to thank everyone who's been coming out and taking the time to check Evile out!"

"It's been an eventful tour to say the least. One day/night (can't remember) I was asleep in my bunk on the bus, when all of a sudden there's a huge bang and we're hurled forward about 15 feet. We got hit while being parked by a Truck driver who probably had a bit more than he should have. Our driver, Bjorn, jumped out of bed, running down the road in his boxer shorts to steal the keys out of the guys ignition, while Lee Altus got his drink spilt. He wasn't happy. On a side note, as soon as the truck hit us, I just went back to sleep, I thought Mike had just fallen down the stairs, so this whole story is second hand from when i appeared in the morning and said 'What was that bang?.'" Exodus Frontman Rob Dukes Posts End Of Tour Update

EXODUS frontman Rob Dukes has issued the following update from the band's current European tour:

"It was the last show of our last tour and it turned out to be a special night. AGNOSTIC FRONT was playing at the club next door to us so we (the bands) decided to join together and play one crazy show in a packed house.

"For me it was awesome — I'm from New York and have been a fan of them since I was a kid. It was a little surreal.

"For the most part, being the singer for EXODUS is still weird to me, and I remember buying the records and going to shows as a fan, but to be where I am is just fucking goofy to me sometimes.

"We had fun hanging out backstge and they are just really cool guys, I have seen them a bunch of times and got hang out with them last year at Graspop, but doing a show together was killer. I thought to myself, 'How cool would a tour of CLUTCH, EXODUS, AGNOSTIC FRONT, THE EXPLOITED, TSOL and 3 INCHES OF BLOOD be?' throw in Brian Posehn as MC and that's a tour I would like to see.

"I like the obscure tour with a mixture of music and fans better than just an all-night metal fest, but that's my personal belief."

Children Of Bodom Re-Issues To Include Bonus Music

Scythes-Of-Bodom.com, The Ultimate CHILDREN OF BODOM Hate Crew Fanpage, reports:

"Blooddrunk hit charts in high positions in many countries. As expected the album hit the pole position of the charts in Finland (where it already sold Gold). In Japan the album charted at #2, in Sweden at #8 and in Germany it reached #10. More world wide chart positions will be announced in the next days.

There are some new release dates on the Spinefarm website regarding Children Of Bodom. On April 30th Something Wild, Hatebreeder, Follow The Reaper, as well as the live album Tokyo Warhearts will be re-released as 2008-editions.

The three studio albums will contain the known songs + the following bonus material:

Something Wild: 'Children Of Bodom' (original single version) - bonus track, 'Mass Hypnosis' (SEPULTURA cover) - bonus track, 'Deadnight Warrior' - enhanced video.

Hatebreeder: 'No Commands' (STONE cover) - bonus track, 'Aces High' (IRON MAIDEN cover) - bonus track, 'Downfall' - enhanced video, not yet confirmed).

Follow The Reaper: 'Hate Me!' (original single version) - bonus track, 'Hellion' (W.A.S.P. cover) bonus track, 'Every Time I Die' - enhanced video.

Via this way, the two early and rare recordings of the songs 'Children Of Bodom' and 'Hate Me!' will be re-released as well because these songs were only released on their singles and on some compilations. Spinefarm could have also re-released the first and very rare recording of 'Towards Dead End' on the Hatebreeder 2008-edition but probably they just forgot it.

Also, there will actually be a 'Hellhounds On My Trail' single, which will come out in June. At the same time, the video of the song will be officially released. It's not yet clear what song will be used as b-side but most likely it could be the SUICIDAL TENDENCIES cover 'War Inside My Head', the fourth cover song that was recorded during the Blooddrunk recordings."

More Black Sabbath Box Set Details Revealed

Black-Sabbath.com webmaster Joe Seigler has issued the following update:

A couple of days ago I posted the news that there will be a box set based on the four DIO-era BLACK SABBATH releases. I posed some questions of band management regarding some details on the set, and I can now bring you an update based on what I found out.

Individual Releases: The albums will likely eventually be released on their own, but no plans yet, and even that's not for sure. For now you should consider them part of the box set only.

Remastering: This is not the same remastering sessions that produced last year's The Dio Years releases. This is a totally new remastering session from the Dio Years sessions.

Five Discs: The press release stated that there would be five discs in this release. The five discs will be Heaven & Hell, The Mob Rules, Dehumanizer and Live Evil. Live Evil will be two discs as it was when it was originally released way back when, so that's where we get the fifth disc.

Extra Tracks: There are no extra tracks here, the albums are as they were originally released. I specifically asked about the alternate version of 'Mob Rules' (Heavy Metal soundtrack), and the alternate version of 'Letters To Earth' ('TV Crimes' single). Was told they're not being included. Less clear are the two versions of 'Time Machine'. The 1992 version released in the US had two versions (standard & Wayne's World). The WW version was not on versions outside of the US. Since this is being released by Warner/Rhino, it's likely the one on here will have both, but I don't know that for sure at this time.

I was told the "new" extras will be extensive liner notes and things along those lines. I also do not know at this time what the packaging will look like. One of the emails I got said that had yet to be completed, so I doubt there's full decisions made on this stuff yet. Once I get some artwork and further details, I'll be sure to update straight away."

Fall of Serenity's "The Crossfire" MP3 Online

German behemoth Fall of Serenity is set to bring its fourth full-length album, "The Crossfire," to American soils on May 13th. But much has changed since we last heard from the band. After 2006's "Bloodred Salvation," long-time bass player John Gahlert hooked up with the microphone, while guitarist Alex Fischer switched over to the bass and Ferdinand Rewicki joined the band on the vacant 6-string spot. All the personnel shifting made for a creatively reinvigorated Fall of Serenity. The Crossfire was produced and recorded at the well known Rape Of Harmonies Studio by Ralf Müller (Impending Doom, Maroon, Heaven Shall Burn, etc) and was mixed and mastered by legendary metal-minded Swede Dan Swanö.

Singer John Gahlert on the new tunes: "We have worked hard to have these new circumstances within the band. There's a new spirit we feel, pushing us forward into a slightly different and thrilling destination. 'The Crossfire' is our statement against musical boundaries and bigotry. Working with Dan Swanö (hail to the king!) was another new piece in the puzzle and it perfectly fits to the aura of our sound. After Leif Jensen (Dew-Scented) appeared on the last album Bloodred Salvation, we forced female metal icon Sabina Classen (Holy Moses, Temple Of The Absurd) to be part of the new record...with fantastic result, she has a great and authentic voice. We are really looking forward to the things to come."

In the lead-up to the album's completion, the members of Fall of Serenity let cameras into the studio to capture some of the insanity of recording. The result is a four-minute look into the making of The Crossfire, and a rare glimpse at one of Germany's finest.

Here is "The Crossfire" track listing:

1. Immortal Kingdom
2. Knife To Meet You
3. Recreation
4. The Crossfire
5. A Whore Called Freedom
6. Funeral Eclipse
7. Act Of Grace
8. In Case Of Death
9. Blindfolded
10. Blood Portrait

You can download an MP3 of Fall of Serentiy's "The Crossfire" here and watch a "behind the scenes" video of the band below. More...
